Ed are you just having a laugh about Roy Keane? or is it true mate?

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - I don't know if it's true, Pud but it's what I've heard.}

15 Feb 2021 22:25:23
I guess my hunch on Keane was right.

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Feb 2021 22:51:59
Lol I took Keane at 20/ 1 earlier so I'm happy to hear this.

16 Feb 2021 01:41:58
hope not guy is an ass and would lose the dressing room within a couple of months as he is nothing but a bully.

Agree1 Disagree0

16 Feb 2021 07:38:03
Ray1963, A bully? Why? Because the guy wants to win and some people don’t like truth? That’s an example of how times have changed from 10/ 20 years ago. If Roy Keane wasn’t the way he was Man Utd wouldn’t have been the club they were in the late 90’s/ early 2000’s. as Sm I saying Keane would be a success at Celtic? I’m unsure but I don’t think he is a bully, he is a winner and doesn’t take crap which is a fresh of breath air in this day and age. HH.

Agree1 Disagree0

15 Feb 2021 21:57:34
Ed what about Keane for DOF? I think it would make more sense than as manager.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I don't think Keane has got the skillset needed to be DOF.}

16 Feb 2021 11:59:15
Michael it is well known his style of management is verging on bullying and that is dinosaur management now a days.

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Feb 2021 12:03:55
Pressed send by mistake.

Talking about what he done at Manchester United on the park is nonsense and has no baring on how he is as a manager.
Have a look at what the Ipswich players say about him, especially guys like Damien Delaney.
We already have a manager who was a winner on the park and takes takes no crap. How has that worked out?

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Feb 2021 20:45:24
Ed you should watch White House Farm on Netflix. I won't tell you about it but it is shuch a good show. Anyone who watched the murder documentary on Netflix will enjoy it.

{Ed007's Note - I've seen it mate 👍

15 Feb 2021 21:28:13
Good show.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Yep 👍 Did you watch the Pembrokeshire Murders thing that was on ITV recently? About the guy that was on Bullseye that was a right sicko, that's well worth a watch, Paul.
If you're into podcasts look up the stuff Surviving Life (Ron Swanson) is putting up with a guy called Phil Chalmers, it's just starting out but they're already talking to serial killers in prison live on air.}

16 Feb 2021 08:36:39
The interview in prison of the ice man is a fascinating watch, can find it on youtube.

Thanks Ed il look that up. I'm not a creep now and go on a murder spree. It will be on the paper tomorrow murder in Ireland discussed about murder show on celtic banter page. Ed and JFP will be saying to the news nice guy we didn't see that coming 😅😅.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - There's another podcast called Those Conspiracy Guys (on Spotify etc they got kicked off Youtube) and they cover serial killers and other weird stuff with a bit of Irish craic thrown in and they're usually on for 2/3 hours.}

16 Feb 2021 12:58:24
watched the serpent thought it was good.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I've got that Tivo'd but both my mum & sis said it's brilliant.}

16 Feb 2021 13:41:17
There’s a doc about the Pembrokeshire murders on one of the crime channels seeen it before the itv show really good. Watched it’s a sin over the weekend absolutely brilliant.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - We've got It's A Sin Tivo'd as well, anything with big Keeley Hawes in it is worth watching.}

I get that everyone is getting impatient over the club taking their time in replacing Lennon, but the wheels are in motion. The fans wanted Lawwell to stop meddling in football affairs and now we have replaced him. It would make no sense at this point to Install a new manager untill we have appointed a DOF. It's key to our future successes that the new DOF and manager are aligned in the project going forward. The club should have replaced Lennon before the year was out but we can't change the past. I know ideally we would like a manager in so he can gey to know the squad and figure out what he needs but for the long term future the alignment of DOF and manager will be key.

15 Feb 2021 19:41:32
A sensible post SOS-BHOY.
Your right, the club should’ve made changes a few months ago.

15 Feb 2021 18:56:27
Guys/ ed hope you are all well.
Was thinking about the potential new manager or coach.
For me its not so much who it is but more the type of coach it is.
So im going to list a few and see what you think.
1 DOF Martinez and Maloney, there we have a highly recommended young coach with a good mentor and would more likely be long term if they came here as they both have history here.
2 A manager of repute and experience at the top level who is out the game but a name we all know. Mark Hughes.
3 A foreign coach who is used to working as a coach only and who can improve what he has and develop the youngsters. Diego Martinez.
4 A very tactical manager who sets us up well and whilst gets results its not always pretty.
Stevie clark.
5 A younger manager/ coach whilst has experience has not won anything but plays exciting football and knows a player. Eddie Howe.
Now i know i said the names were not important but i only use these as examples.
Would be interesting to know your thoughts guys.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

15 Feb 2021 19:30:44
I would be happy with any of your selections Rayman.
Celtic also need to improve massively on our new recruitment team to give our new manager the ammunition to work with.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - What if it isn't the recruitment but the person making the decisions that was the problem? It wasn't the recruitment team that chose not to sign Toney or Colley on loan or the countless other targets that would have been at least permanent signings instead of looking at loans and the cheaper option all the time.}

15 Feb 2021 19:52:18
I never thought of that Ed.
Because those 2 players would’ve changed our season but it was the biscuit tin mentality came back to bite us.

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Footballing decisions being made by non-footballing people, Buzz, that is THE main reason we are where we are. The decision maker was the problem but he's left the room as we move forward.}

15 Feb 2021 20:31:25
Ed Vladimir is nodding in agreement!

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - 👍

15 Feb 2021 20:47:50
Toney would have been a great signing but alas we got Ajeti who still never looks fit to me.

Agree1 Disagree0

15 Feb 2021 22:16:36
Why is there such a popular belief that Eddie Howe hasn't won anything?

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Feb 2021 23:27:12
What about zidane? He'll be out of a job at madrid at the end of the year with either a weak Barcelona team winning the league or athletico winning it. Even either of those running madrid close will probably cost him the job I think.

Spend the money and watch a true midfield master outclass slippy G.

Or how about someone like Mourinho? I think he'll be gone from spurs at end of season. Again, he'll outclass Slippy G and restore us to the dominant force.

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Feb 2021 08:51:08
Zidane or Mourinho? Got to be taking the piss 😂.

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Feb 2021 09:32:13
Aye surely we must be looking at Pep. Plays good football, getting bored where he is. Used to having the biggest budget in the league. Gets pumped out of Europe every year. Aye he will do.

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Feb 2021 12:39:39
Why are they taking the piss?

Zidane will probably be out of a job and so will Mourinho.

Mourinho looks to have been found out at the highest of European level and will probably look for a project next. Maybe back to his Porto roots.

Zidane will cost a hell of a lot of money but I think we can get him with a challenge of getting us back to a European powerhouse.

I'd approach Zidane before I went to Benitez. I don't see why Benitez is a realistic target on here but Zizou isn't.

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Feb 2021 15:16:11
You need a serious reality check if you think 1. We could afford them abd 2. They'd want to come.

A big name would demand a big wage, big staff budget and big transfer kitty. Never going to happen in a million years.

What we need is a quality young manager looking to rebuild their reputation and move on after a few years like BR. Howe fits that description but there may be others in the summer.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

15 Feb 2021 18:29:13
Give it up UI, I’m starting to think you are Reilly ( lennons agent ) . I agree sky are pro sevco but you must be in a group of one if you believe going to Dubai was a good idea. Even taking out the moral view that we shouldn’t have went, it cost us the chance to not only catch up with spare games but also we would have possibly have had another 5 points from the games we dropped points because of it . Add that to you’re faithful blind loyalty to Neil, are you his agent 😂😂.

The perfect storm-What a season
I feel depressed-And here's the reason
Ed said it first-Mal said it too
Peace be upon him-But it can't be true.

He came to us-When he was done
To wear the jersey-Just for fun
I'm finished now-in Engerland
I'll sign for Celtic-One last stand.

I've went to Mass-I've said my prayers
They never worked-We got no players
A faithful fan-I've always been
But Dearest Lord-Just no Roy Keane 🙏.

Away from negativity as that's all that seems to be about just now I was just wondering if any other supporters on the forum maybe followed another club away from Celtic. Obviously Celtic being my one and only but I have actually followed Atalanta since 2001 and have been to Bergamo 14 times to see them.

I used to watch Italian football back in the day when it was on channel 4 and since then couldn't help following Atalanta since. I'm also going to include a video of the intro to Gazetta Football Italia from channel 4 that I'm sure some of the older guys on here will definitely remember haha!

Hope everyone is doing well and staying safe, HH.

15 Feb 2021 17:22:32
Atalanta are an exciting team to watch.
Italian football was famous for defending and securing 1-0 victories.
But the defending went out of the window for a few months,
When the pass back rule was introduced round about 1990.
It was good watching games finishing 4-2 and 4-3 on a Sunday whilst it lasted.

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Feb 2021 17:28:03
Michael
I can also remember when the pass back rule was introduced,
The first time we played Rangers and everyone was expecting a classic with loads of goals,
Yes you’ve guessed it, a boring goalless draw at Celtic Park.

Hey Michael, God that brings back memories - James Richardson presented the programme and had hair back then!

How much time does it take to make a good decision? A lot slower than making a bad one it seems. Quote about Celtic won't be rushed into a decision about the manager RUSHED OMG they have had atleast 19 months of clues to make a decision yet they won't be rushed. Heaven help the finance next year when not all the season tickets will be renewed because the board will not be rushed.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

15 Feb 2021 13:31:32
Tony that will be a major issue. i know quite few that ain't renewing under the present management. the club needs to communicate and tell fans what next season looks like.

Agree1 Disagree0

15 Feb 2021 13:41:17
tony who would you bring in right now and why remember we play in Scotland and have a certain budget.

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Feb 2021 13:52:14
I would like to see us go for someone like Diego Martinez, who has done a great job at Grenada and likes his teams to be solid defensively, which will help us in Europe. Roberto De Zerbi would be a good choice and plays the brand of football that would be appreciated by the fans.

Agree1 Disagree0

15 Feb 2021 14:02:43
I am not saying to bring some one in right now although there is good managers without a job just now. And I can't see a permanent manager wanting to come in right now when we have lost the league but a more convincing statement from the board about the way forward should have been expected instead of the gray area that was in the statement. How is that going to renew the trust in the supporters that the club is going in the right direction? To renew their season tickets. The time to stand our present manager down was long ago but they never I am sure a lot of supporters are thinking will it actually happen at the end of the season or will they just fob the fans off yet again? That is why IMO the statement from the club should have been more clear as to the future the club was going. As far as the manager position is concerned.

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Feb 2021 14:04:31
I agree Mally and it should have been done in that statement obviously not going into great detail but a clear indication as to where we are going.

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Feb 2021 15:03:16
If I didn't know better, it would seem that this season was 'written-off' early-doors by the hierarchy after several warning signs were flashing brightly from August through to October.
European disaster, Unsettled/ unhappy squad, surrendering to Sevco at Celtic Park and failing at home to Ross County in the LC.
Most clubs would have taken emergency action after even a portion of what was going on, however, The Celtic Board did nothing and in the process, threw away the ten, another treble-chance and any respect and credibility, they had accrued in previous years.
I will never know how close NL was to being sacked (if at all) , but here we are playing for what pride the players have left, after some of them for one reason or another let themselves down.
It's imperative that wheels have been set in motion to address our failings and we have appointments and potential signings in place, ready to start, after the final whistle blows on our last game.
Sevco have a settled and confident side and although they are not a great team, they are where they are thanks to our incompetence.

15 Feb 2021 16:04:59

Good morning Ed my friend.

What is your thoughts on the management position come end of season? Does Lennon go with Someone else coming or are we looking at another season of Lenny?

I know you are a fan of Philip Cocu and the work he done in Holland is that who you would have as your number one replacement if or when Lennon moves on?

Enrico hopes you guys have a good day.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - Good afternoon, Enrico. For me he has to go at the end of the season and my flabber will be well and truly gasted if he isn't. The board and Lennon himself will already know it's going to happen. I'd like to see us looking at someone like Cocu but I think it's going to be Roy Keane 💚Peace be upon him💚}

15 Feb 2021 12:21:58
Hi Ed, what makes you say Roy Keane? Heard any inside knowledge?

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - A couple of people have said it to me and Malika who is pretty close to people in Irish football has been saying the same thing.}

15 Feb 2021 12:23:45
If Roy Keane why not now ED 007?

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Why would any manager want to take over just now, that's one of the reasons why Lennon is still in place.}

15 Feb 2021 12:56:25
I would prefer to keep Lennon than get Roy Keane but I am praying for neither and I am not even religous.

Agree3 Disagree0

15 Feb 2021 13:16:52

15 Feb 2021 14:37:15
Hi Ed, heard that a few times here in Ireland aswel. Supposedly talks between Desmond and keane have already taken place.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - 👍

15 Feb 2021 15:47:19
I think Keano's management style is flippin fabulous. He is old skool with his shouting and confronting underperforming players and their attitudes and demanding that they try harder.
But that's where the problem would lie if he came in. Players today have different attitudes to when Keano was a player himself. He always gave everything he had to win and he still can't accept that any player would or should think differently to his own mindset as a player. They think more about money, perks and an easy life than they do about pulling their socks up and playing with a bit of gusto and enthusiasm.
And for me that's where he would lose the plot very quickly. It's a shame that's how it is but that IS how it is and for that reason alone we need a manager with a more modern approach. HH.

15 Feb 2021 16:18:00

so over in tinsel town 4 player partying we where warned yet again players think they are better than us im sick of it.
Celtic have suffered due to being so stupid over C.V. safety and very naïve. they have suffered on the field and off it with poor performance and bad club moral, i was thinking maybe a few of the celtic players thought it was a bad idea to go to Dubai and maybe made it clear to management, as since boli boli maybe the inhouse bickering was caused with not everyone agreeing the Dubai jaunt but maybe really had no choice. the player have put the 10 in a row on the line just a thought, maybe its the players who are angry at the Celtic board and management as to the way this has been handled i know i would be pissed.

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Feb 2021 11:43:26
I know @bigbubs
It went down hill on the park after boli boli I think everyone was shocked. Makes me think players are unhappy with club and now unhappy playing for the club. They are Def unhappy with other players.
Corona C.V. will be here for some time. It's how we Deal with it mentally and internally. IMO we dealt with it all wrong and maybe a few of the players thought the same. Not everything is Lennon's fault.

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Feb 2021 13:52:52
Yeah there was definitely an issue among the players. A lot of rumours that the French players led by Ntcham were causing unrest. Problem is no one will ever know. One thing for sure though is NL's time is over. A full rebuild is needed and he isn't the right man to oversee it.

Celtic made a relatively small loss of just under £6 million in our half year accounts issued this morning.
It isn’t the disaster most people were expecting considering the circumstances.
The accounts show Celtic are still in the black with £20 million in the bank.
Our fans will be wondering why we didn’t spend a chunk of that bank balance, to try and secure more history.
It’s probably a blessing because our current recruitment team would’ve squandered that money also.

15 Feb 2021 15:43:12

Going back to the Centenary year, does Edouard get into top 10 strikers?

Here's mine.

1. Larsson obviously
2. Sutton
3. MacAvennie
4. Edouard
5. Dembele
6. Cadette
7. Pierre
8. Harston
9. Viduka
10. Bellamy.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

15 Feb 2021 05:38:37
That’s a great list of strikers from over the years at Celtic.
I loved Big Pierre and I would have him in 2nd place.
With the exception of Bellamy, all of those strikers were dangerous in the air and that’s a big negative in Edouard’s all round play.
If that was a league table, Edouard would be in serious trouble of getting relegated.

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Feb 2021 09:05:17

@SmkmeAkipper great list and they would be my top 10 as well. I didn't include Di Canio as I don't think of him as a striker but was a great player, same goes for Lubo.

1. Larsson
2. Dembele (he is capable of going to the very top)
3. Cadette
4. Bellamy
5. Sutton (probably the hardest one to place for me)
6. Edouard (he has more potential than Dembele but still to boss it in Europe)
7. Pierre
8. Viduka
9. Hartson (due to his weight and injury issues didn't place higher)
10 MacAvennie (was a toss up between him and Keane)

Out of the one's being mentioned Samaras was closest to getting into my top 10.

Bellamy, not a chance he should feature in the top 10.
The guy played something like a dozen games for Celtic scoring a handful of goals.
