I think the club should have sold Abada in January. Once happened what happened it was never going to end well. I think we are tremendously lucky to have got shot of him now and got a fairly decent fee for him all considering.

I think we pulled a masterstroke to get 8m possibly 10m for him. Squeezing out large fees from prospective buyers is really the only good thing our board can do. Abadas numbers are decent but not great. He hasn'timprovedone bit in almost 3 years. Everytimehe started a game maybe in one or two exceptions, he waa anonymousand really only ever made an impact as a late sub, not even a 65min sub. I don't think he'd ever be consideredgood enough to be a proper celtic right winger and well done to the club as i thought wed be extremelylucky to get our money back.

Fairly decent fee?

£8M confirmed and upto an additional £3M in add ons.

I'd say given he was a bench player who'd downed tools and we've more than doubled our money (he cost us £3.5M) , was good business.

We move on and there's plenty more at the club and in the first team who can't cope under the weight of the jersey who need to join him.

It’s generally agreed we could have potentially secured a higher transfer fee for Abada in time a figure of £15m was mooted at one stage at his best which equates to a £5m differential.

I said yesterday he was one of the brightest young talents to come to the club in recent years and he was was one of biggest goal and assist threats along with Jota.

He was better than any wide player we currently have and goals from an Abada returning from injury would have been invaluable given we’re currently second favourites in a title dog fight with a £60m prize.

I express no personal view but expect the board have theirs as others will I simply ask the question is political protest within Celtic Park which was the catalyst for all that followed an absolute right at any cost to the club?

NB: I reiterate this is a question for debate from which no personal opinion should be inferred.

Dillets

That’s expressed your view very succinctly all fans forums have been avoiding the debate like the plague.

Thanks.

I personally think JFP that we've got the best out of a bad situation, one that was likely based on an agenda driven by a combination of Abada's agent, the Israel team manager and others putting in their shekels worth.

The club, as I'm sure you'll agree, found themselves on the back foot and in a situation that was not of their making.

I'd be surprised if BR and those at the club didn't do everything possible to support the player, in every aspect, with the view to getting him back playing.

I agree that not so long ago, particularly after Jota left, he was by far our best winger, although, given how the rest have faired in that position since, that wasn't hard.

Did it look like his market value could have reached £15M or perhaps even more not so long ago? Yes.

Given his first season where he achieved YPOTY, along with his talent and ability, had he gone on to establish himself as a first team regular then such a valuation could have been realistic, no doubt.

As it panned out, he got injured, then the politics quickly followed around the time he was ready to come back, and the rest, as they say, is history.

As a bench player, who presumably made it clear to BR that he wasn't prepared to play one more minute for Celtic Football Club, let alone honour his contract and fight alongside his teammates to retain the League Title, the game was up.

It's a shame for the player that he will never realise what it's like to be idolised by the Celtic supporters as many players have through the ages.

Had he decided to come back and fight, helping his teammates to win this seasons league title, he could have left with his head held high along with the respect and gratitude of the Celtic supporters.

I wish him well he was a good player for us. If any one really thought he could still play for us with all the politics surrounding his country I think they have to stop and think of what if we were in his shoes and people were raising flags against your country would you be happy about it? Even though the club was paying you a wage. I think we have closed the door on bringing in any Israeli player in the near future at least.
