Anyone heard that Mccarthy having a medical?

1.) 01 Aug 2021 17:38:06
Mick or benny.

2.) 01 Aug 2021 17:48:01
Is he getting his second jag.

3.) 01 Aug 2021 18:03:06
Jenny 🤣🤣.

4.) 01 Aug 2021 18:10:29
Is this another 'Witch-hunt'?

5.) 01 Aug 2021 22:40:03
Best out of them is definately jenny. Haha.

6.) 02 Aug 2021 04:14:35
Once abhor 2, underrated comment lol. Took me a while to get it though🤣🤣.

7.) 02 Aug 2021 09:45:28
I haven't watched enough of Josh Doig from Hibs to say if he's a good enough player or not but I presume that the likes of Kennedy, Strachan and those who are involved in the scouting/ coaching at Celtic don't think he is.

It's the only explanation I can think of when we're apparently chasing players from all over the planet, one month into the transfer window, when there are players performing in our league 45 mins up the road.

8.) 02 Aug 2021 10:02:18
He's off to Burnley or Watford apparently.

9.) 02 Aug 2021 10:08:26
Pedro for some reason celtic don't seem to be looking at scottish players at the min. The like of ferguson, Nisbet, doig, McCann, McGrath, Portisous (hibs Cb) and Dundee utd keeper. All could do a job for us and no quarantine required. Celtic just seem to be looking everywhere but right in front of them. Or maybe l am wrong.

10.) 02 Aug 2021 10:36:28
100% Ter.

07 Jun 2019 10:39:32
Hi ed good to see you back on. I read that we have made contact with nick Powell, you think we have a good chance of getting him?

{Ed007's Note - No.}

1.) 07 Jun 2019 16:05:53
Stoke are favourites to sign him.

17 Aug 2016 15:42:15
Delaney has went to Bremen.

1.) 17 Aug 2016 16:22:21
As of January First.

2.) 17 Aug 2016 16:55:26
Thats that then lol. Maybe he did leave the country last week.

3.) 17 Aug 2016 18:16:56
Hope he enjoys the relegation battles then.

4.) 17 Aug 2016 22:43:31
Kev why be bitter about a player joining another club when we haven't showed any concrete interest? Why be bitter at all?

5.) 18 Aug 2016 07:05:52
Not bitter, think a talent like him should be doing better.

Bremen are a poor shadow of there former selves. Also, his team are in the champions league and look likely to make the group stages, may even progress further.

I don't get the move to a team that offers nothing but a scrap to survive.

At the game today people chatting that Cole is to be offered 10K/week on deal to end of season with option of years deal. Anyone know if there's any truth in it?

1.) 28 Sep 2015 18:30:58
Any update on Cole has a deal been put on the table or has he failed to impress

2.) 28 Sep 2015 19:06:24
Apparently he impressed in training, Celtic haven't made a decision on offering a contract yet. That's what John Kennedy said anyway, if that is the case I can see it being down to wages etc

3.) 28 Sep 2015 19:11:34
Cheers Defo need another option as I don't think ciftci installs confidence

4.) 28 Sep 2015 20:17:55
Cole back in London looks like deal is dead.

5.) 29 Sep 2015 20:57:29
Hes back in London? Could be arranging a move, doesn't mean its off. Not overly fussed, fact we're fishing about for him shows how far we've fallen. he's came up in a few windows (bit like Heskey used to) and I always shuddered a bit when he did but with LG and Ciftci our only real options, I would hope he comes now. If not, we could well end up heading into a game(Europa or SPFL) with no recognised striker up front, in which case I'd batter Bitton or Commons up there. We should not be in that position.

6.) 01 Oct 2015 19:16:33
I think that's where he lives. That's where I would have went too.

02 Feb 2015 19:00:01
Anyone else heard that fee agreed for GMS?

1.) 02 Feb 2015 19:07:40
I herd that on the news but can't see anything on sly sports herd we have had a 1.6mill bid rejected for Stuart Armstrong think we might pull this off tonight I hope so.

2.) 02 Feb 2015 19:48:21
Fee has been agreed for armstrong 31/2 year deal

3.) 02 Feb 2015 19:59:14
Surely any Armstrong deal will be 4 1/2 year contract its not often we pay the money needed

Poor performances the last few weeks but had been managing to get the 3 points. Today we didn't, 3 points is a must in every game from now until the international break. Its them the first game back, hopefully the occasion gets us back to the type of performance we are capable of and the rest will take care if itself.
At end of the day it's only a game, I noticed on the live chat someone has a loss in their family. Prayers to all.

22 Dec 2021 22:24:39
3 points before the break is a must. Get players back fit during the time off and strengthen the squad.
As was mentioned in the live chat rangers will lose players to the African Cup and I expect a couple to be sold or atleast cause disruption due to wanting to leave.
Hopefully we will come back after the break the stronger squad and push on and catch them before it gets to the rearranged Derby match.
One trophy won and 6 points behind is a better position than I expected us to be in at the start of the season. Still a long way to go.

21 Dec 2021 15:12:47
After the news about the fan reduction at games would it not make more sense to bring the winter break forward? Since there's still fans allowed at the games tomorrow why not halt the season for 3 weeks after those games are done?

1.) 21 Dec 2021 15:52:59
That's far too sensible . But saying
that I've no doubt the initial 3 week shutdown will be extended to around Spring time until the flu season is over.

15 May 2021 21:27:23
A season which promised so much is officially over with no trophy and no ten in a row. Add that to the fact that our captain couldn't be persuaded to hang around in come capacity which leaves a huge void in the dressing room.
Now we have the close season to hopefully get the club restructured in a way where loan players are sent back to parent clubs, any and all players not 100% committed to the club, fans and the goal of winning the league must be moved on.
We all know this will be a massive rebuild so hopefully the manager is announced soon and he is given proper funds to replace the huge gaps in the squad and professionalism/ fitness of the players who remain and those who are added.
If nothing else this should help the time pass from now until the start of the new season where hopefully we will be seeing the type of performances and hunger we expect from all celtic teams.
Finally just a thank you to Ed and all regular posters on these pages and the live chat. With not being able to get to the games or go out to the pub and discuss this season as it unfolded the platform provided here helps bridge that gap.

1.) 15 May 2021 23:39:16
It is a blessing that our captain, as you call him, will leave at the seasons end, Scott has been a great captain, but his time as a great player burned out long before his captainship did, (apologies to Elton) , this personality cult of being the captain should never again be allowed to be more important than the well-being of the team, having said that I hope one day when he has gained experience as a coach or manager, Scott might be a future Celtic manager .

2.) 16 May 2021 12:34:06
You've only got to look at examples with Liverpool (Henderson) and Chelsea (Azpilicueta) both have found themselves on the sidelines for spells if it benefits the team. The captain shouldn't be an automatic selection, players should be selected on performances and to suit tactics. Brown have been a fantastic captain over the years but he well and truly got found out against the current buns in the last game and he leaves us at the right time in his career.

09 May 2021 17:59:45
I haven't watched a huge amount of St johnstone this season but if anyone has what's your thoughts on Rooney?
I'm not saying for 1st place right back but from what I've seen of him he is better than what we have at the moment and I think he is still early 20's.
Does seem to have good physical strength and would add height to the defence plus looks like he has good determination and likes to tackle, things we have been missing.

1.) 09 May 2021 19:46:14
Nope hard working but not celtic class.

2.) 09 May 2021 21:38:53
Better than kenny but not good enough.

3.) 10 May 2021 10:35:22
after this season, Wayne Rooney would do.

4.) 10 May 2021 11:26:28
I'm better than Kenny. The bar should never be the guys who are better than duds. Our recruitment of defenders is an ongoing farce that goes back years. The amount of absolute duds we buy to defend our goal defies the law of averages. We really need a manager who knows what one looks like. Going cheap and hoping, the Lawell way, is and has been an absolute disaster. Our current defence is by far the worst I have ever seen. Totally and completely hopeless, in fact that's an understatement. A whole new defence with only Julien even near it from what we have. The rest aren't good enough and thst includes Welsh who although better than Duffy, isn't good enough if we actually want a back line that isn't a joke.

5.) 10 May 2021 12:14:58
It's not about going cheap and hoping. Rangers backline and goalie, and prob sub defenders were bought fir about the same price as Julian alone. Its about proper recruitment. I'd take an out of contract defence and goalie with bags of experience over the 5-7mills paid on simo, Julian, barkas etc.

6.) 10 May 2021 12:53:12
If we took anyone from st Johnstone it should be Jason Kerr. Will be a solid defender as he gets older and better.

7.) 10 May 2021 20:28:05
A wid love Tae see jonjoe going back doon the road Tae the pool with a baw it wid take him 7 weeks he wid go via eberdeen then work his way back doon how's you edo hey you must be about 50 noo 🤡.

Get a grip, wheres the positivity for your own team and what they are capable of?

Maybe the club thought what they had in place would be sufficient and the manager has seen their work and said its not good enough?

{Ed007's Note - Jay Lefevre is the Head of Scouting Operations, the First Team Recruitment Analyst - a new position at the Club - will work under him.}

I'd have him I'm as assistant manager or first team coach to help the ozzie guy.

Article on BBC about granada and their coach. He sounds like the type we should be looking for. Contract is up at end of season so no compensation to pay.

I read that a few years ago happytim although I'm sure he was on a podcast (maybe opengoal) recently and he said now his family were older it would be an easier job to take on.

Got to agree AAW, I can see it being one point or even goal difference deciding who wins the league this year. At start of season if you said we would be top by 3 points with 7 games to go and having already won the league Cup, I would have asked for some of whatever you were taking.
The next few weeks will certainly be interesting.

If we are within 6 points of the top at the start of January I'd be happy considering the mess of last season and the massive turnover of players over the summer.

After the international break which I hate I would have taken an 94th minute deflected goal. The main aim after those fixtures is a win.
