Just a conversation starter, but those with better memories.
With the way Liam scales has come in from literally about to be sold to stake his place in the team and been solid aswell. Can anyone think of any other players we had that were on the brink of being sold or in the background for ages to come in a do as well.
He is literally fighting for his spot every game and he's risen to the challenge.

Our captain went out on loan and he came back a better player.

Charlie Mulgrew mentioned this week that he was similar to what Liam Scales is currently doing at Celtic.
Mark McGhee had a terrible start at Celtic when we signed him in late 1985 but he got better and remained at Celtic until 1989.
He was actually the SPL top goalscorer in his last season at Celtic, before he moved to Newcastle.

Mentioning 1989 brings back memories of our last 3 games that season.
Joe Miller scored the only goal in those last 3 games.
Our last home and away league matches and the only goal against Rangers in the 1989 Scottish Cup Final.

If my memory serves me correctly, Henrik had an inauspicious start. Not only up there with the greats of our club but he bled Celtic as well.
What was Hartson like at the start? Can't remember.
{Ed007's Note - Petrov was terrible when he first came in and played at RB and so fat that he had an @rse the size that J-Lo would have been jealous.}

John Hartson also had a slow start.
He had to remain patient whilst Larsson and Sutton started before him.

You look at those names, some of our best players struggled to begin with but the fans stood by them but nowadays unless your CL level when you arrive, you get pelters.
That is one thing our success has brought is younger fans, who are used to this success, have no patience and who expect perfection straight away.
I can almost understand it but it takes time to mould a player and a sucessful team.

I remember saying yrs ago that it took a full season to know whether a player was going to make it or not . As some new players get off to a flier and others need plenty of time .
My mate always argued it took. time into 2nd season.
As Maidenparadise says nowadays patient runs thing and some of our younger fans expect every window to produce half a team of first team starters.
