Btw, a mate of mine down south is a AV fan, he rates Sinolsa highly.

What are your thoughts on Hatate guys? Great start for the first year under Ange then unfortunately, missed a lot of last season through injury. Do you think BR fancies him?

1.) 13 Jul 2024 17:23:25
Hatate is a great player but it’s a worry he’s had 4 muscle injuries since March 2023.

2.) 13 Jul 2024 18:07:54
Hatate is a top tier player!

3.) 13 Jul 2024 19:32:56
Hetate is class put him aside some quality and he will shine, injuries stopped us losing him.

4.) 13 Jul 2024 20:22:21
On his day he's a cracking player, last year was a struggle, due to the injuries.

I've read quotes from him saying he's interested in playing in other countries, which is fair enough.

I have a feeling that this coming season may be his last in the Hoops, if so, let's hope Reo stays fit and
he goes out with a treble.

☘️ ? ☘️.

5.) 13 Jul 2024 21:31:48
His injuries are a worry.

6.) 13 Jul 2024 21:33:43
Ability wise, he has it, but stamina is an issue. Not just because of the injuries. Kyogo and Maeda will run all day but i think it shows that Hatate didn't play in top tier in Japan until the season before we bought him. I think I remember reading this. I don't think he has the stamina to last 90 mins all that often and if we got a big offer id take it.

7.) 13 Jul 2024 22:44:49
Hatate is brilliant and has a great attitude. I think we need to persevere and hope he gets past the injury problems.

8.) 14 Jul 2024 02:24:54
BR has come out a few times and criticised him losing the ball alot. His xT and xP was pretty bad in a fair few games. But when he's on he's key to how we play. And when he's injured we don't have anyone similar. I'd still like us to sign someone else to replace his creativity when aubbed or injured. And if I was to choose I'd rather we sold him over O'Riley as he's easier to replace.

9.) 14 Jul 2024 12:53:50
I hope BR doesn’t fancy him, because if BR only plays players he fancies it might be difficult for new players to break into the ist eleven.
I think Hatate is a superb midfielder, but I think when he is coming back from injury he tries to force passes that are either not on, or he hasn’t got his timing and skill back to make them .
When fully fit and use to playing with the players around him he can light up a game in an instance, He is neither the tallest or strongest and often doesn’t last the whole 90 mins.

For older Bhoys as I'm going back to the 60s-70s. On the back of a thread earlier this week, does as anyone remember collecting cards of of OF players from ice cream vans, newsagents etc? They were sold with bubble gum packets, about the size of panini cards? I remember getting cards for Jim Brogan, Willie O'Neill, John Clark and Jinky. For them I remember Ronnie McKinnon and Alex Willoughby. It was good fun swapping your doublers and getting g a card for a player you didn't have. Anyone have any memories from these days?

1.) 12 Jul 2024 00:47:23
Remember them well. Also played nearest to the wall as u skidded them. As well as stauners (yes stauners) u skidded them to the wall and the first to get a stauner won all the cards. I had loads of sets of them and they were my prized possesion back in the day. But on my last day at primary took them all i to give them away. I was most popular that day. Tho i loved them no way was i going into high school with them as a collection. I would a been tortured lol. But great memories pre internet its how u got to know the players.

2.) 12 Jul 2024 11:09:38
Aye, great memories of opening g your bubble gum packet to see what players you got.

18 Jun 2024 21:55:43
At the end of the Portugal game, Danny Murphy said the first game ( for the big boys in the tournament) is the hardest. Really? What does Germany think of that? ?.

1.) 18 Jun 2024 23:06:09
OK, we were p1sh against the Germans and hope we show up better against the Swiss.
Something puzzling me is the makeup of the squad - unless it's Braveheart or warrior material we're still cannon fodder. Why doesn't any Scottish manager pick players from the top teams from Scotland and England based on league standings?
So, 4-4-2 would be

I know we'll miss out on McGinn, Gunn, Adams, Hendry and Christie but at least the team above will be based on merit and league placings. The team coudn't be any worse than what we saw on Friday.

2.) 19 Jun 2024 00:38:46
Souttar isn’t in the squad and who is Wright?

3.) 19 Jun 2024 07:04:43
Who is Wright?

4.) 19 Jun 2024 08:08:37
After reading that team it’s certainly not Stengo who is right.

5.) 19 Jun 2024 08:33:29
Scott Wright - Sevco.

6.) 19 Jun 2024 10:45:17
The same Murphy that said he didntvsee the point putting a sub on with 3 mins to go doh.

7.) 19 Jun 2024 10:50:15
That team's a shocker Stengo.

8.) 19 Jun 2024 11:26:55
That's a terrible team Stengo.
If he is going to play his usual formation, I would play Forrest as a RWB and bring Gilmour in for Christie.
At least Gilmour can keep a hold of the ball.
I would play Adams and bring Shankland on with 30mins to go if we need to win the game.
At least we will know the damage from the Germany game before kickoff where I'm hoping Germany put another 5 past Hungary.

9.) 19 Jun 2024 12:32:39
Kevbhoy - I totally agree. It's not my type of team but when you look at the top teams by league placings in Scotland and England and pick the Scots who they have to form a team then that's pretty much the best there is.
I left Gilmour, Adams and Christie out as they are not in those "top" teams but to show we have no chance of progressing based on the criteria I had set.

10.) 19 Jun 2024 12:34:15
Stengo, wtf, you've missed out Connor Barron ??.

11.) 19 Jun 2024 16:42:31
I’m not sure if Wright is even in the squad, I’d mortgage my house he isn’t .

12.) 20 Jun 2024 17:22:10
Mcginn would be in ahead of mctominay going by league positions stengo.

18 Jun 2024 20:32:48
A wee rant. Wherever I watch football, Scotland, down south or even the Euro games, the amount of time a promising situation peters out to nothing coz the player in possession only uses 1 foot frustrates me. Yeah, I get how players are allocated positions to play given their favoured foot but the ball isn't going to come to you the way you want all the time. Why can't coaches, domestic or international, get players to practice with their weaker foot? It's not rocket science.

1.) 18 Jun 2024 23:32:07
Ryan Porteous can certainly use both feet.

2.) 19 Jun 2024 02:26:44
Lukaku is a prime example, how pro players are allowed to be so one footed is beyond me. They should be practicing in training to be equally as good with both feet.

3.) 19 Jun 2024 09:55:44
The young boy lamal at spain is also very 1 footed.

4.) 19 Jun 2024 19:29:43
Most top footballers are blessed one good foot . Coaches who are trying to develop these good footballers are not going to risk his top projects by upsettIng his way of setting himself up to receive a ball to partially improve his weaker foot . There are only a very small number of people who are ambidextrous, many of these have ambidextrous hands and feet and they can be coached to use either equally well.

{Ed007's Note - Kids should be learning to control the ball with both feet before they have ever meet a footballing coach. You wouldn't tell a kid who wants to box he only needs to use one arm because he can't punch with his left.}

A good leader and anytime I saw him with Leicester, seemed a good goalie. I'm ok with this.

Agreed Buzz. I'm normally against previous players returning and that includes Ajer (we can debate how Lenny managed them during the COVID season but was he not one of a few players who stopped playing that year) ? But I'd make an exception for Jota. I guess the money he is on now would make that unrealistic.

On board with this defo. The flip side is suppose the club via our scouting has identified an overseas prospect who may have potential. Do we turn up our noses at another project given our recent recruitment record? Any signing has risk. Without thinking too long, Derek Riordon a few years back springs to mind. Lewis Morgan, dare I say David Turnbull as well? I'm going round the houses as usual (succinctness isn't my strong point) . My point is for every project success whether from home or abroad, we're going to have one or 2 who don't cut it.

Well said Brian, most of us like me, are no fans of the Board but I genuinely think we'll get players of the right quality in. The fact is negotiations with the selling club, the player and agent take time, especially in the real world of who offers the best deal. While acknowledging fans' distrust of our custodians, by the same token, we need to be patient. By all means if we get to mid to late August and we're having the same conversations, by all means let rip.

I'm surprised, I've always down the years associated Celtics conversion rates of penalties to be poor.
