Ed did we not try to sign Dominik Livaković last summer but he ended up signing for Fenerbache for €6.5m?

Would seem strange that they would sell so quickly after 1 season, he's on €51k per week.

Surely just a lazy journo plucking old transfer targets out of the "never tried to buy them" vault.

Turner1984

{Ed007's Note - Turkey is notoriously difficult for players to settle in, I said last summer when Livakovic joined Fenerbahce that he would be looking for a move come this summer.
If he is available I don't see why Celtic wouldn't reignite their interest in him.}

Ed or anyone in the know, have we got a global scouting network or was the lads from Japan mainly on the back of Ange knowing the market? Do they use scouting agents or actively scout abroad with their own staff?
The quality of hetate and kyogo makes me baffled that we haven't further invested in that market, ideguchi and yogi didn't work I know but maeda has defintely passed the mark, iwata is decent and will get better.
Matsuki FC Tokyo CM looks like he has a bright future, Assists and distance covered very encouraging so far.

Turner1984

{Ed002's Note - It was largely down to Ange Postecoglou and the recruitment of Mark Lawell and Joe Dudgeon from Manchester City.}

1.) 15 Apr 2024 14:37:12
Ed002, can you elaborate on what involvement Joe Dudgeon had in those transfers because the accepted narrative up here is pretty much that Ange pinpointed Kyogo, Maeda, Ideguchi, Hatate and Iwata himself. Kobayashi, not so much.

Linked with 21yr old Swiss Fabian Reider, what a signing he would be!

Turner1984

1.) 02 Jul 2023 12:47:15
Lots of interest in him. but we've gotvthe money let's make a statement.

2.) 02 Jul 2023 13:08:48
Reider and or Jashari would be statement signings but I'm not sure we'll start to see these types unless we are definitely moving on Hatate or oriely.

3.) 02 Jul 2023 13:41:23
Fabians rieder would be signing of the season. He's been outstanding for young boys. Also the man city kid we are supposedly linked with can't remember his name has ridiculous stats for the u21 though something like 4 hatricks. Sorry minds went a blank.

4.) 02 Jul 2023 14:36:29
Is it borges?

5.) 02 Jul 2023 15:19:10
Cheers Mally that's the lad mate?.

6.) 02 Jul 2023 22:40:40
Would love to see Rieder in the hoops, seen a couple of the games he played in for young boys and he was outstanding.

7.) 03 Jul 2023 15:38:37
Reider and or Jashari look great, even though we could buy them I doubt they would come to the SPFL with the interest from clubs in real leagues. Hopefully CL participation can sway it. Plus, they know they only need to be here two seasons before they can move on. Just wish we would get them in fast, whoever they are.

Does anyone else find themselves very rarely checking to see if celtic are linked with potential signings? I've not seen our squad so strong for ages.

Players will leave, the door will always revolve, but our recruitment has been sensational.

Josip, Reo and Matt were signed for a combined £6.33m, these 3 I believe will be sold for good money in the future, that could quite easily be £40m profit minimum from these 3 alone.

To think the mob across the water may lose their two most valuable assets they have in the past 5 years for free is mental, as much as I love the players we have, sustaining the clubs future is paramount and profit from sales is vital.

The debt ridden clubs of Europe can palm us cash till the cows come, how they can operate when some are even 1billion in debt is mental, this Financial Fair play makes no sense in realistic terms.

Turner1984

1.) 07 Nov 2022 22:46:53
Celtic are in a healthy and wealthy position because the majority of our squad are on lengthy contracts.

2.) 08 Nov 2022 08:24:42
For the first time in a good few seasons I'm very content with the current squad and just hope we can keep them together long enough to enjoy their full potential. Obviously, with Ange at the helm.

21 Jun 2022 21:53:59
Seen a rumour linking Fabricio Diaz of Liverpool Montevideo to Celtic.

18 year old and Captains the Uruguay u21 National team, had been called up to the senior National team but not yet capped.

Interesting one, he looks the part on YouTube, and definitely a player we could enhance and make money on, them Uruguayans are grafters on the pitch!

Wonder why we are getting linked with South Americans lately, I thought work permits were harder to obtain, you know anything about this Ed?

Turner1984

{Ed007's Note - It's easier to get work permits for South Americans with the new system post Brexit mate.

On a serious note under the consumers rights act can we get a refund on the purchase of Trusty based on the fact he can't defend when he was sold on the basis of being classed as a defender? This may hold up in a court of law surely, it's worth a try ?.

Turner1984

1.) 01 Oct 2024 22:05:20
Get real, it’s his third game for us. Scales was our best player tonight so that gives a bit of context. They were way quicker than us in every department and we were very sloppy with our passing. The first two goals we could consider ourselves unfortunate, the last three were Celtic assisted. The reality is that some teams are going to be a level above us. We move on.

2.) 01 Oct 2024 22:12:56
You actually defending that? 6m he's pish.

3.) 01 Oct 2024 22:42:23
Anyone that had seen trusty play before would have known how average a player he is. He might do a job for us domestically but will get found out in europe.

{Ed007's Note - Well that's a better rating than CCV had when we signed him, people said he would struggle domestically and after 2 seasons we still haven't seen enough of him at CL level to know if he can step up.}

4.) 01 Oct 2024 22:49:32
So were most of the others hence the result!

5.) 01 Oct 2024 23:07:38
I'd say ccv was more rated than trusty by anyone that had watched them.

24 Aug 2024 09:11:01
Will we sign a LCB, LB, AMC and CF/ LW (Maeda option CF) or will we unveil a 4th strip before deadline day, white and green hoops with pound signs embroidered in the background ?? come on celtic pull your finger out, the first two positions should be in the door, my worrying feeling is they will stick with CCV, SCALES, NAWROCKI and WELSH, Nawrocki needs a season loan to get up to speed.

Turner1984

1.) 24 Aug 2024 11:04:59
then he shood go tae "wee pats loan shoap sarry st " wher we kin accomudate him over 5 years with 200% intrest tae am writin up the papurwurk noo waitin oan him comin doon ( hiz he goat a motur?

I seriously doubt we are looking at Mateusz Bogusz as I'm sure we don't have any scouts there, logistically with the length of window can't see it happening, just click bait rubbish.

If we were interested in players I'm sure agents would leak reports to drive up the price, not much leaked in the press especially with our potential outgoings so I'm setting myself up for misery and if we do get what we need it will be a pleasant surprise.

One player we have Luis Palma has great numbers yet you don't seem to think of him as being that productive, maybe the sale of players will allow him to become more pivotal moving forward.

Lanzarote today for a bit of sun, enjoy your weekend HH.

Turner1984

1.) 23 Aug 2024 08:59:13
He's playing in a cup final for them on Sunday.

2.) 23 Aug 2024 16:10:24
Our new scout has good knowledge of US and South America if I remember correctly.

3.) 23 Aug 2024 17:30:52
He will be flying in on Monday after there cup final.

4.) 23 Aug 2024 18:41:14
Our new scout covered South American football so he will know the player and that football scene well.

Enjoy your holiday Turner, hopefully the sun will brighten up your misery and you can watch us unveiling Mateusz Bogusz from a Celtic bar??.

5.) 23 Aug 2024 19:08:29
Scouts name is mark cooper if you want to check him out.

21 Aug 2024 08:47:33
Kyogo to man city? He's injured ain't he what a load of rubbish.

Turner1984

1.) 21 Aug 2024 09:48:57
He's nowhere near good enough for them. Plus isn't the rumour from a fan site so it's not even a rumour it's a suggestion from a man city fan.

2.) 21 Aug 2024 10:45:09
Fabrizio Romano has tweeted it now. Still don't believe it myself though.

3.) 21 Aug 2024 11:28:57
It seems like its actually legit. Especially if romano is calling it. I wouldn't be surprised if kyogo left this window as i think idah will claim main striker roll. As its city id be asking them for £18m at least, all up front. As kyogo is pushing 30 i can't see any sell on clause or scoring clause as he won't be a regular starter.
We will be getting linked with every striker under the sun now to replace him.

4.) 21 Aug 2024 12:12:25
Don't see it happening at all but would let him go for anything over 10 million.

5.) 21 Aug 2024 12:19:38
If we sell him, who are we going to get that will really replace him.

It took forever to get Idah, so our chances of paying for or getting in a quality replacement is slim.

His movement is superb and he has started really well this season, developing the way BR wants him to.

He would be as hard or harder to replace than MOR. Not many quality strikers out there and before someone says Shankland, nowhere near good enough as a replacement and for Europe.

6.) 21 Aug 2024 12:43:50
When we have a player like Kyogo, who has been terrific for us, we start to take him for granted. We forget the magic he performed to win us victories lesser players were not capable of. Even if the Man City talk is is mere rumour no one is totally disregarding it which reflects the respect he commands in the footballing world.
If Kyogo was with a PL club and rumour linked to Celtic we would be hoping it was true.

7.) 21 Aug 2024 12:50:37
Didn't believe it when I saw it this morning and have serious doubts about this one as it seems some folk on-line are attempting to dismantle our team. However, if Kyogo was to go to wherever, it's possible BR sees Maeda as one of our strikers.

20 Aug 2024 07:37:51
I've read quite a few posts and rumours, I think a 15m valuation of Hetate is ridiculously low, if we lost him I'd be expect an exceptional offer in comparison to the reports/ posts suggest, in my eyes he is incredible and when you see the value of some of the players moving around he should easily command a high fee! He, like all, will move on at some point, if it's sooner rather than later it would/ should be for a very tidy fee otherwise why let him go for 15m would cost that to replace him for probably not as good a player!

Turner1984

1.) 20 Aug 2024 09:06:46
Hatate is a good player when he’s fit and available.
But he’s had 4 muscle injuries since last March.

I would sell Hatate before O’Riley if we were willing to sell one midfielder.
Matt always plays 90 minutes which Hatate very seldom manages.

My biggest fear is we sell O’Riley and then Hatate is out for another few months with another muscle injury.

2.) 20 Aug 2024 10:41:13
I agree the loss of O'Riley will be felt much more than if Hatate leaves. MOR takes with him 20 goals, 20 assists and he takes all our corner kicks and many other dead-ball situations among other attributes. Hatate is what I would call a 'luxury' player, who can be a genius on the ball, but can drift out of games and has a history of lengthy injuries.
It's not only the Celtic support that are watching anxiously during this window, but our detractors and rivals are also transfixed.
It's imperative that we come out of this 'window' stronger than before, if we are not only to continue our impressive start, but build up some momentum to improve and progress.

3.) 20 Aug 2024 12:20:10
We will definitely miss oriley but his corners are mostly horrendous so maybe that's the small silver lining, joking aside best of luck to him but it's imperative we get in players that Brendan wants to replace him.

A football agent gets paid to broker the best financial package available to their client in the market, a financial adviser cannot be paid commission only charge for the service provided regardless of the transaction sum, how the feck is this still allowed, the football governance is so corrupt, while trying to chill in lanzarote awaiting some upbeat news about incoming the clone of mine has just informed me fabrizio Romano will be on the new FC25 game announcing transfers! Everything is a scam!

But for 1m McGowan would be worth the punt as im sure rodgers would improve him and make him a solid domestic player at the very least.

{Ed007's Note - Barry Robson and Paul Hartley were both 30/31 years old when we signed them in.}

Norwich played hard ball for Idah like we are for MOR with other clubs.

I'd of thought a CB and LB would've come in by now, wouldn't expect a midfielder unless MOR is sold, hope he stays till January at least and we sign a Lb and Cb, get the rest out on loan for crucial game time, value can't increase for a player if they sit in reserves rotting away.

Look at goal number 6 lad was sitting back post unmarked ready for a tap in if their CF missed, why are we passing out from the back to then lump it intomidfield and get exposed, absolute shocking display from the captain tonight he absolutely needs to put his head in the chopping block for this pathetic showing, he's the leader in the pitch and has hidden away played the team into danger and allowed the opposition to run riot with no bite or passion, its only one game but remember lads our domedtic competion doesn't get us resdy for this level of game, need to learn quickly, anyone that thinks this team is as good as previous teams needs a heed wobble.

This midfield 3 look nothing short of shattered and it's not even half time, brandt has free roam, trusty looks well off this level, if it wasn't for scales could be 8 by now.
