Hi Guys,
I have a nagging concern. Recently there has been an abundance of rent a quotes from Scales, Taylor and to an extent Welsh. In my opinion all three should never be near a Celtic jersey. Its almost as if there is a PR exercise underway to improve their popularity within the support when the only criteria should be ability. I hope we not being conditioned for the prospect that they will be a big part of the future. Thoughts?

I still have no idea why 90% of our fan base can’t see the quality that Taylor brings to the team. In reality can you pin point where he has went wrong. Maybe found out in Europe but so are the rest of the team. He’s a huge voice in the changing rooms and a great player to have around the club.
If we can improve on him great. If not I’m happy with him at LB next season.

Scales and Taylor performed well last season. That does not mean we can't improve on them.

IMHO Taylor is harshly judged by some of us…. I think he is a proper team player who gives his all and performs week in week out. Very rarely injured and also almost never rested.

My concerns are that after well over 100 games for Celtic and earning 14 Caps for Scotland and Scales very good debut season, someone wants both kept away from Celtic shirt . At the same time our Club wants nearly everyone to buy whole Celtic stripes. I don’t like supporters looking for hidden or non existent faults in some of our players . BR is well paid to encourage and build confidence in all our players, the least us fans can do is support and back our Manager .
We always have some players criticised to excess by some of our fans.

We need an upgrade and cover the 2 boys do fine but what's wrong with improving these areas for Europe especially.

Let’s take Taylor first. constantly either passes or runs back the way. Zero heading ability at the back post, very rarely gets a decent cross into the box, passes up numerous opportunities to have a shot on goal and prefers to pass the buck. Scales, slow as a week in the jail and inevitably ends up stumbling over the ball when pressed. average in the air and passing. Welsh just an average journey man who seems to go off injured anytime he plays. He is probably kept around a bit like Bain due to be association trained or to provide the delusion our youth promotion works.

Agree that Taylor and Scales have performed to the best of their ability in most of the games they play, but if we are a big club and want to progress and improve - we need to go up a level or two.

We've been looking for a LB to at least challenge Taylor. Domestically he's good enough, in terms of Europe nowhere near good enough.
Scales got a chance when we were depleted at CB last season, either due to signings that BR didn't fancy or injuries. Again, fine domestically but nowhere near European level.
Welsh is dugmeat.

I wouldn't be too dissapointed if the 3 of them moved on but scales and taylor at least can do a job domestically. Welshs time has come to move on, he is a concern. Taylor i think will be moved on this window if there is no movement on his contract. I expect all 3 to be dropped for new signings come the end of this window anyway.

Wee Des, it’s a bit tough that other supporters have a different view from you on players. its all about opinions at the end of the day. if you can’t see their limitations knock yourself out. i will continue to call it as I see it.
The board must love supporters like you. ?.

He is more that solid domestically. Poor guy has had to play nearly every minute in a gruelling position last season due to having no back up. He gives his all and is a good leader on the pitch and in the dressing room. He does get targeted in Europe. I agree Welsh needs to go for the sake of his own career. Scales is decent domestically but we need improving on him for Europe.
