This window so far is a joke, we have spent 1 million, we have one recognised left back, from last season we have lost oh, Idah Bernardo will probably lose Mor, we have 1 recognised striker atm and we are a week away from the season starting . I appreciate people are saying wait and see but at the minute we are noticeably weaker, I feel we have been let down too many times by the board to trust their process, I get others do trust them but I can’t see it. We are still shopping around monetary markets we paid for players like Stubbs which was 20 years ago. We have gone through loads of windows, where I’ve followed this forum and even on the last day people have asked , do you think that’s it, then the following day after it’s done, oh that window was a let down. We have had two terrible windows as far as improvement has gone, we really need a strong one this time. Even Roger’s said the windows weren’t what he wanted . I’m probably going to be shot down but so be it.

Who cares how much we spend? Why is it important. We've addressed the GK situation, like for like pretty much. Bernardo will sign, almost done, and we'll get Idah/ another striker. If we keep MOR then that's a pretty good window. Young boy at LB looks like he can push Taylor, and guys like Kuhn/ Holm/ Kwon can push on from last year.

History tells us if we spend at least £6M on a player, it’s been a success.

Currently Celtic have spent at least £6M on only 6 players in our History.

£6M on both Sutton and Hartson and the fact they’re on this list from 24 Years ago is shocking.
£9M on Edouard
£6M on Jullian
£6M on both Jota and CCV.

We know developing our own players under the current Scottish system is near impossible.
We also know that spending £3M and under on a player has been more of a miss than a hit.

So I believe the transfer fees more than likely make a difference.

I wonder if we get monthly interest on the money in the bank?

May explain the delay. ?.

Gerry, that would get us to pretty much how we finished last season. It's all opinions but that isn't a good window, for me.

A think 3 down the spine of our team and that's it, CB, CDM, CF unless sum1 leaves. I honestly don't think we will bring in any FB ??‍♂️.

Jullian maybe a stretch Buzz ?
CCV ok domestically but that's about it ?.

It's possible they are waiting on selling MOR before they spend? Personally, I will be very disappointed to see MOR go as he played a huge part of all that was good about Celtic last season and it will take a lot to replace him - never mind find an upgrade.
IMO we always need to start a new season as strong as we finished the last and wherever possible - improve on several positions. Let's see?

Think Rodgers will spit his dummy if recruitmen is poor?

23 Jul 2024 16:48:56
Oab, that could possibly be true, but for what reason though? We have never been as cash rich as we are now, why do we need to possibly sell our best player again to spend . If true it seems really weird .

23 Jul 2024 16:59:35
Celtic will bring in a total of about £30M from selling O’Riley and other fringe players and then we will spend about £20M to £25M on various signings before September.
That’s what normally happens.

23 Jul 2024 17:35:28
Think Rodgers will be offside if he doesn't get the players he wants.

History and statistics tells us what we want to believe. History and what happens in the past is absolutely no indication of what is likely to happen in football .
Imagine how stupid we would think out Board was, if they started bidding and trying to buy strikers for £650,000 and tell us fans, that was the price club paid for H L the best striker we bought in 30 yrs . We would rightly think the Board was off its collective rocker and demand a different group of people take over the purchase of players . We the fans and the Board have both to forget what has happened in the past when buying and selling players and operate in the real world the present . Instead of treating the Board has some form of anti - Celtic we should have developed a positive relationship over the years so that we wouldn’t be in complete darkness as a result of the name calling and abuse we have given to individual Board members and the Board itself for not having the players YOU want in 11 days before ist game . Selling clubs and players have most control over the date of the actual deal.

Probably a poor example using Larsson because he had a £650k clause in his contract, that Wim found out through his Feyenoord contacts.
Everyone knew he was worth more after his displays for Sweden at the World Cup Etc.

Celtic didn’t spend too much money before the Larsson deal in 1997.
A couple of Million for both O’Donnell and Thom.
And the highest being Stubbs at about £4M.

You are more than entitled to your opinion Des, and whilst we have won trebles and leagues with them at the helm, let’s not forget there hasn’t been much of a challenge from the other side of Glasgow for five or six of those years. The board seem to be happy to just stay ahead of them, rather than pulling away from them. In my opinion they failed the fans as did the team for the 10 season, they let down Roger’s last season, banned the green brigade for a political statement which ruined the atmosphere ( even if you like them or not) we dropped points during that period which again nearly cost us the league, and one was one of the only clubs in Britain to charge fans for their season tickets during covid for a crappy stream and £100 in the club shop. In my opinion the board don’t treat fans particularly well, so I will reserve my faith in them delivering . If they do back Roger’s to the hilt I will be giving them full credit though .

23 Jul 2024 20:10:09
Maybe if our board communicated with its paying public they wouldn’t get the abuse they absolutely deserve at this moment in time.

23 Jul 2024 22:05:10
Hi Buzz, totally agree with this. i said the same thing in a long sided version below. ?.

24 Jul 2024 20:47:38
Maybe if sensible Celtic fans who really like club tried to communicate with a Board they would find the Board more than willing to communicate.

25 Jul 2024 08:55:33
I’m all ears, how do we do that? Even the agenda at the AGM is pre set!
