We have agreed compo for the Aussie manager Ange. I don't think this will be a good move.

marco18888

1.) 03 Jun 2021 17:16:21
Why not?, give the guy a chance.

2.) 03 Jun 2021 20:07:31
According to reports the compensation is supposed to be quite a hunk of change and if this truly messes up. it will indeed be a costly one. and I am fed up off hearing that he is a top coach. if he is as they say he is wouldn't he have been snapped up. just feels like our transfer policy. panic buys on the last day.

3.) 03 Jun 2021 21:23:50
I will give him a chance like everyone else but I am obviously concerned that he hasn’t ever been mentioned for any EPL job, Championship job or clubs of similar appeal to us in Europe.
I like that his football is very attacking but I’m concerned that he would rather win 5-4 than 1-0 as for me we need to concentrate on defence and goalkeeper more than anywhere else.
I’m sure he will pull a wee gem or 2 from Australia and or Japan that will hopefully settle and improve our squad as well as opening up better exposure for us in said countries.
I’m looking forward to the rebuild now let’s do everything in our power to get our title back this season.

4.) 04 Jun 2021 08:00:50
Sunderland looked at him a few years ago apparently, but Martin Bain wanted to please the fans by bringing in a big name, so they got Chris? Coleman.

Villa have bid 7million for Turnbull.

marco18888

1.) 21 May 2021 08:54:44
If that is the case Villa should be banned from ever bidding for any of our players ever again as it shows a complete disregard for the player in question. 7 mill wouldn't buy the boys weak foot! HH.

2.) 21 May 2021 11:52:48
Tell them McGinn plus £7m and we will think about it?

3.) 21 May 2021 12:09:14
Is anyone surprised to be honest. They are so full of sxxt down there. They will never change.

4.) 21 May 2021 12:34:36
No chance they have bid anything - The Daily Ranger posting its Daily TRIPE.

5.) 21 May 2021 18:45:15
More made up paper p**h that happens all the time to try and sell our players, you never get them printing stuff like that when the Orc players are concerned.

6.) 21 May 2021 18:47:17
We should put in a bid for their star player Grealish for £7m and see how they like it.

7.) 21 May 2021 20:29:32
I (and others) have said that Turnbull is a big part of the long term future of our club. Some have disagreed and don't rate him yet, saying he needs to do more etc. and that's fair enough even if I disagree.
The lad himself may ultimately want to move and then it becomes a matter of money on all fronts but I don't think we should accept any bid for him this season, if there even is a genuine bid to begin with. HH.

8.) 21 May 2021 22:23:57
I don’t see what everybody is complaining about. We paid less than £3m for him last year. I agree that we should not accept it but why are we getting upset about it?

9.) 22 May 2021 07:06:23
I fully agree, 1st of all it’s an opening bid not their final bid so you would expect they would be willing to bid £10m plus and he only cost £3m.
What’s he actually achieved other than being the best player in a terrible bunch.
Has he scored or created goals in big matches the answer is no not really.
Do I rate him and think he will improve the answer is yes absolutely but some fans valuation of £21m for what he’s achieved so far is arrogant.
Has he done much more than Lewis Ferguson so far in league not really and people would agree £7m for him would be good business for Aberdeen.
If Turnbull plays like he has for the half a season he’s featured for another couple of seasons then absolutely rate him in the £15m plus bracket but not yet.

10.) 22 May 2021 08:55:54
Turnbull signed 5mins ago, is under contract and has a great future.

Unless we were offered crazy money and we had his replacement already signed 👍 he should stay.

11.) 22 May 2021 16:49:00
Pedro71, i agree that he should stay and i think that he will stay but I don’t understand why an opening bid of £7m is an insult when we obviously offered less that half of that for him last season.

12.) 22 May 2021 19:10:29
I hear you arrowh and although he's no Messi, the English clubs always low ball players coming from Scotland.

17 May 2021 14:15:26
I read somewhere that Howe was in talks with Crystal Palace. don't know if it's true just passing it on.

marco18888

1.) 17 May 2021 15:28:45
The longer this fiasco drags on the more doubt and uncertainty there will be in supporters minds, as these rumours and counter-rumours surface - much to the delight of our detractors. The club got every major decision wrong in the past 12 months (or more) and they need to quickly clarify the situation with positive, precise information and prompt assertive action as we have dawdled-on far too long.

2.) 17 May 2021 16:11:08
Doubt and uncertainty also come from people referring to it as a "fiasco" OAB.

3.) 17 May 2021 16:56:04
What would you call it Kev? We have been rudderless for months, stumbling from one dilemma and disappointment to another since the Autumn of 2020. The Board have remained silent and impotent, the players have clearly been struggling for months while we are just supposed to guess what is going on and how long it takes? I think the support need answers and solutions to this situation?

4.) 17 May 2021 18:08:21
He gave his word, and it’s does not look like the kind off person to go back on his words.

5.) 17 May 2021 19:06:38
Howe will be manager 100% excited as I've watched him over last 30 yr playing and managing afcb he has been on mnf couple times recently and never been mentioned about celtic obviously its hush hush I reckon a number of staff will come in at same time possibly a week today.

6.) 17 May 2021 22:39:29
The last info I heard is that Howe will be announced after the Championship play offs are decided.
The delay is based primarily on Celtic wanting to make one overall statement about the new management/ coaching team and at least one of the potential future coaches (currently at Bournemouth) is waiting to see if they make it to the PL. If they do then he's staying with them and if they don't then he'll come with Howe.
I said before that I get my info 3rd hand. It has been consistent so far in that Howe is the man etc. but it could change any day so I wouldn't hang my hat on any of it.
We're all in limbo until we get definitive news. HH.

7.) 18 May 2021 06:55:25
This is looking desperate now from Celtic, I read this morning now the players won’t actually meet Howe until the first day of preseason. I can’t believe the hold up is to see what staff he has lined up and can only be the gardening leave proposition . If it’s going to cost us a million pounds now, i think we should pay it to get him now. If we can’t afford that, the talk of us spending upwards of 30 million on our deflated squad is probably over exaggerated. We pretty much go straight into champions league qualifiers, if we have looked under prepared before, what are we going to look like now. Have the club already given up on qualifying, again our board, as they have all season look like they are sitting on their hands. The old adage that lawell lives by preseason, where do nothing and hope for the best still seems to be prevalent today. Then once we fail, we sign a couple of players. This surely isn’t a modern way of thinking.
Does anyone actually truly believe our arrogant board are sitting there proactively thinking about giving the best option for Celtic for this incoming season. We are notoriously slow in getting deals over the line, and this season we have let contracts run down as well. Lawell is more likely thinking of his golden handshake bonus, which incidentally is probably being paid for with the previous seasons ticket money which they are flatly refusing to offer us anything for .

8.) 18 May 2021 11:20:00
OAB, I agree that the season in its entirety has been a fiasco but if the stories are to be believed, we've acted effectively and had the Howe deal wrapped up for weeks. If the club are keeping quiet about that there must be a very good reason since announcing it would get lots of fans back on side.

9.) 18 May 2021 13:57:25
My problem with the waiting, is If its true and they want to avoid paying a couple of million in comp, then to save that will more than likely mean we lose £50m by getting handed our I'll prepared arse yet again in the CL. If we isn't here preparing signing a, remember he needs at 8 to go straight into the team and another 4 to have cover, then this won't allow us to have a go. Don't get me wrong our board live to save a few bob then lose tens of millions by never being prepared, so this shirtsighted approach fits their opus memorandum to a tee.

10.) 18 May 2021 19:57:22
English media saying lampard will be palace manager.

11.) 18 May 2021 20:40:14
Everyone needs to settle, Quinn1888 the bit you mention regarding the players not meeting the new manager until the 1st day of pre season is totally normal.
The players will now have went on holiday and won't report back to the club until the 1st day of pre season.
We have know for a long time that if it is Howe that he wouldn't come in until the summer. If it is him we won't hear anything until Bournemouth's season is finished which might not happen until the 30th depending on how they do in the 2nd leg of the playoff on Saturday.
Now saying that, it doesn't mean that he isn't working in the background along with the new DOF (if we are getting one) identifying players and we could see a major announcement with the DOF, Manager and 3 or 4 players.
Also if it isn't Howe I would expect whoever it is to be doing exactly the same in the background.

12.) 19 May 2021 07:11:06
Jonbhoy, I agree they could be doing due diligence work in the background, but with the way the board have worked for the last few years, could you really see them all sitting around a table with Howe, a dof ( which incidentally has gone very quiet ) , sitting alongside 3-4 new signings . All at once, because I can’t . If our players have gone off on holiday, all the other players who aren’t in their respective euro squad will be . Obviously it seems it’s Howe and they need the championship finished before he can be announced, as for players I’d say we will scrambling around all the way up to the start of the season or the last day of the window. I expect is to view it that we should have enough to get through the first couple of rounds against the easier opposition .

10 May 2021 03:09:10
Connor Mcgregor wants! / wanted shares in celtic.

marco18888

1.) 10 May 2021 17:17:41
McGregor is a fud. Keep him away from the club.

2.) 10 May 2021 18:08:54
He's rumoured to be worth around £180m. That's not enough to buy Celtic, fund a new team and keep himself in Gucci shoes.
He's box office in MMA but I doubt he knows much about football. Yet more media tripe to get some fans excited. It'll never happen and it isn't even worth discussing. HH.

3.) 10 May 2021 18:46:47
I read he sold his Shares in Proper Twelve for £600 million
Don't know if it's true or not, but if he has money let him invest some.

4.) 10 May 2021 19:20:54
Dazza, he didn't own it all. He and 2 others owned half of it between them and a drinks company owned the other half. It's the drinks company who have bought the 3 of them out in a deal. I think it's safe to assume his share was substantially less than 600m but it sounds as if it was worth a good few quid nonetheless.
I couldn't think of anyone worse to invest in Celtic, not because of money but I reckon he'd be an obnoxious shyte who would demand a round of applause from the crowd for himself in the centre circle before every home game. HH.

5.) 11 May 2021 19:46:32
Besty

BigBubs summed it up above.

He’s a fud.

The last feckwit Celtic need.

07 May 2021 14:34:12
Just heard today from a reliable guy that Howe will be announced on Wednesday.

marco18888

1.) 07 May 2021 16:58:36
marco, I heard it will be some day next week but I wasn't told anything as specific as Wednesday.
It'll definitely happen one way or the other. HH.

2.) 07 May 2021 18:10:22
I was told by a guy who knows a senior player, I think it's on multiple sites now but he said Wednesday but it could just be crap to keep us all guessing.

3.) 07 May 2021 22:10:51
Or to get fans to buy season tickets.

4.) 07 May 2021 22:29:21
Every day it’s some rumour saying Howe will be announced in next day etc etc
My take on it is DOF announced 1st then once DOF, Chief Executive meet they choose their outstanding candidate, go to board for approval, then offer job and get contract signed.
This waiting on staff from Bournemouth etc is nonsense IMO.

5.) 07 May 2021 22:50:48
GGGG, in all fairness there hasn't been any credible rumour suggesting Howe was going to be announced the next day. Perhaps there have been media comments saying all sorts of things in order to get hits on their websites but never has there been any sensible suggestion that something is happening 'tomorrow'.
My understanding is that Howe will be our next manager.
The DOF role, if there is to be one at all, is less clear. HH.

6.) 08 May 2021 06:34:37
I heard it from my next door neighbours brother in laws babysitters dog walkers uncle in law. Lol.

7.) 08 May 2021 13:00:43
That must be the 5,678th prediction of the announcement. I am just hoping it happens before hell freezes over and I know he'll doesn't exist, so it could still be long time.

8.) 08 May 2021 22:34:54
It will be announced on the Monday after the 55s win their first ever top tier trophy 100%.

9.) 09 May 2021 12:48:47
What's with the 55s? Its The NewOrc fifty fivers.

marco18888

05 May 2021 09:27:00
So does everyone think the new manager will be Eddie Howe or will it be someone else that hasn't been mentioned yet?

marco18888

1.) 05 May 2021 10:58:19
Who honestly knows mate, one thing is for sure though, they better get a finger out soon in announcing who it is because while I do think season tickets will sell, I don’t see them flying out the door just as quick as they might if fans new exactly who’d be in charge and what the plans are for the upcoming season.

2.) 05 May 2021 11:18:52
I'm not buying the excuse its all to do with waiting to see how Bournemouth do in the playoffs to see if their coaches will leave or not. that's not a valid reason as to why Howe and Harkin cannot be announced as coaches wouldn't be needed until the summer.

I've got a feeling Keane is DD choice and he will force it through probably on the same day Peter Lawell leaves the building.

Another lingering thought of mine is Moyes. If West Ham don't make Champions League then I wouldn't be surprised if we threw a lot of money at Moyes to get him up here either. Moyes is a more sensible long term solution given his age and fact he's done in the the pub league for many years where as in a few years a young coach like Howe would be looking to move on and test himself in the Pub league again.

3.) 05 May 2021 12:02:39
del i don't get your post. moyes is challenging for top for and a champions league spot but he is done down there he is having one of west hams best seasons ever yet he is done.

4.) 05 May 2021 12:05:12
After the nightmare season we had, you would think The Board, in particular, would have been burning the midnight oil since the turn of the year to salvage something and make amends for such a disaster, but no, let's push-on with a caretaker that hasn't a clue and see how far we can really sink without a single trophy and possible record points deficit. Then after we have a wee holiday, see if we can be bothered? Any other 'big' club would have moved mountains to sort this mess and try and put an end to a year of misery, failure, damaged (or destroyed) reputations and constant bad publicity.

5.) 05 May 2021 13:38:59
Sorry UI its a typo. I meant to say done it. As in been there, done it. After his spell at Man Utd I doubt any of the so called top 6 teams would consider him in the future.

West Ham are unlikely to sustain pushing in to the top six season after season. Its the kind of club that you wouldn't be surprised if they finished 17th next season.

I think if the finances are there for a proper rebuild the project of rebuilding our team and attempting to reassert ourselves in Europe is more appealing than the West Ham job. he's no spring chicken and the kind of guy I could see sticking it out for 4 or 5 years up here which is what we need whilst the foundations are laid i the background for the new setup.

6.) 06 May 2021 01:05:41
France - World Champions; Leicester- Premier League; Chelsea - multiple trophies. Common factor? Kante, a holding midfielder! I rest my case!

{Ed001's Note - Kante is not a holding midfielder. Matic sat for Chelsea alongside him, now they are using Jorginho or Kovacic to do that. Drinkwater did it at Leicester and Matuidi for France. To get the best out of Kante you just let him loose in the centre of the pitch and let him do what he wants by putting a holding midfielder in place to ensure there are no gaps behind. But it does back up your case, as it requires a holding midfielder for him to be as effective as he is.}

25 Feb 2021 19:34:50
We need a manager who can steady the ship and take us back to winning the league and then maybe even take us forward in Europe. That's not too much to ask is it lol.

marco18888

1.) 25 Feb 2021 20:27:55
We had one of those.

‘There is no danger that Titanic will sink. This boat is unsinkable and nothing but inconvenience will be suffered by the passengers. ’.

{Ed007's Note - 😁

24 Feb 2021 09:01:24
Thank god for that, now did he resign or sacked? I don't really care to be honest I am just so happy he is gone now. Now we can start preparing for next season now as this one has been gone for ages.

marco18888

1.) 24 Feb 2021 09:12:44
marco its the boards fault he should be gone months ago they caused this new manager should have been appointed months ago penny pinching cost us 10 in a row.

23 Feb 2021 09:44:15
What the board have to remember here is that, we the fans have long long memories, this FIASCO will come back to bite them were it hurts (in the pocket) the board have to remember that they work for us (the fans) as one great man said football without fans is nothing.

marco18888

1.) 23 Feb 2021 12:29:22
It's the whole board that needs changed with Lenny going. He wasn't up to it, but they appointed him and worse, kept him when it was clear he was destroying us. How they can simply carry on is a joke. Lawell isn't the only one needing to empty his desk. They all do. I wonder if there are any other jobs where looking at your shoes is the main skill. If there are, they will do very well.

I read somewhere that AEK were willing to forgive any future payments for Barkas if they signed Ntcham. So would probably be just a swap, I think there is a decent player in Barkas and just needs time to settle, it couldn't have been any harder for him to come to us with C.V. and so many players unhappy at the club. Give him a chance to prove himself and get his confidence up.

To me the appointment of Ange is a get it right up you from the board, they don't care about us, all the care about is the money we spend. We need to make a stand and let them know we aren't happy about this. If the appointed this guy months ago I don't think the fans would have been as upset as they are now, but 12 weeks to get down to this guy (who might be a great coach) tells me they put all their eggs in one basket, Favre is out of a job so are numerous other highly qualified managers. I just feel totally let down by the club I love. I feel totally gutted atm. But the thing that really hurts is the way the club is treating us. Like we are a footnote. Sorry for the rant had to get this off my chest. Totally gutted.

Why not give him a chance, I think due to C.V. and just coming from another country with no family or friends here have had a big effect on Barkas, I really think there is a great keeper in there. Just needs time and patience.
