DR leading a Kyogo to Burnley story.

What absolute BS I'm sure if he was for the off he would be harbouring ambitions above Burnley.

And apparently Spurs want CCV back. What a load of nonsense. Anything to destabilise us instead of properly trying to find out who will be coming and going ??‍♂️.

2.) 25 Jun 2023 16:46:13
During an open transfer window, we are better ignoring the SMSM, as they could easily have your wife wanted in England.

3.) 25 Jun 2023 17:43:41
Well they could easily have her Celtic Calling. I wouldn't stand in the way of that transfer ?????.

Yang Hyun-Jun from the K-League reportedly a target.

That story is gathering a bit of pace.

Do you think the Scouting team are picking the players that will be coming in or the head of recruitment? Just asking as I am really sure we are looking at him but I don't think Rodgers would know a lot about him? Or perhaps Rodgers has gave the green light to us trying to get him in l don't know.

3.) 22 Jun 2023 12:03:38
The scouting team present the players but the manager will green light any official bid.

Probably twatter nonsense but claudio gomes from Man City in loan a rumour.

Tbhoy

1.) 22 Jul 2022 21:10:22
might be true he’s small enough.

2.) 23 Jul 2022 22:28:57
A 6' 4" defender not tall enough.

3.) 24 Jul 2022 09:40:48
Hes 5'11, he's taller than Mooy, Ideguchi, Hetate and Mcgregor, kante is 5'6, height means pi## all as a CDM, work rate, stamina, passing and tackling, all that matters as a CDM.

Thought we competed well at times tonight at least we're still in the tie.

A massive ask but if everything goes our way maybe just maybe.

What's everyone's thoughts for Saturday. We're 13 points ahead in the league do we rest as many as we can for Next Tuesday and play the fringe players and kids and try get every little bit of edge that we can?

Tbhoy

1.) 13 Feb 2025 00:23:13
Nope we play our strongest team with maybe a little rotation.

Hatate for McCowan
Maeda for Jota
Kuhn for Yang
Ralston for AJ.

2.) 13 Feb 2025 00:31:21
Definitely give Maeda the weekend off ?
Good to see you posting Tbhoy.
Always informative. ?.

Regarding our disallowed goal, if Idah and his marker had not made the run across the "line of sight", I think the goalie makes the save comfortably. It's not as if it was a top-left corner job. Having said that, Idah is boiling my blood with his constant habit of being offside. He has enough pace to hold his position longer.

Kuhn again too predictable failing to take his man on the outside and even the much inferior Yang looked more effective in his short spell.

Once again Taylor is found out in Europe. Tidy wee player for SPL but not nearly good enough for CL level. Would ave been a huge call but I think we would have been better starting both January signings (Schlupp and Jota) in place of Taylor and Idah.

Overall, I'm not too disappointed with last night as a reasonable showing against a vastly superior squad and some very dodgy officiating. The first half reminded me of the recent Germany v Scotland match where we backed off and showed them too much respect. Hopefully we don't do the same next week and have a proper go, even if it means losing by 3 or 4 goals. Bayern have been vulnerable at the back all season and when eventually put under pressure last night were again found wanting. Good attacking side but not CL winners IMO.

Tbhoy

A great and accurate post as usual Tbhoy.

It’s not funny but you’re right about us bringing in Jeffrey to cover 4 positions.
You also make a good point about us moving on multiple squad players in this window, which will leave space for new recruitments in the summer.

31 Aug 2024 07:47:50
People need to stop thinking we brought in 40 and only spent 30 so we're 10m up and £30m up from last season. That's not how accounting for transfers in and out works.

When we buy a player we amortise that cost over the term of their contract. We have just bought Engels for £11m. So we will actually split his cost at £2.75m for the next 4 years on our accounts.

This is a line on our accounts called amortisation of intangible assets. And usually sits about £14m per season.

When we sell a player we take profit on the disposal of an intangible asset into the season the transaction is done.

Matt O'Riley sold for £26m. Let's say £2.6m sell on to MKDons, £2.6m Agents fees and loyalty bonus then we still have two years left on his original transfer fee we are amortising £700k. So we have made £20.1m profit from the sale of an intangible asset.

Looking at the OH transfer. We bought OH for £2.5m then have sold for maybe £3m. Again so £3m take away loyalty bonus etc leaves maybe £2.7m we will then have approximately £1.5m still to amortise on the transfer so we will have mad a profit on OH if about £1.2m. But he also reduce our amortisation by about £625k a year.

I am not 100% sure on how loans work but I would assume if we are amortising lagerbielke at £600k a year we would be looking for a loan fee of £600k in that year to net that to zero. It's not all just about the wages it's about reducing the amortisation as that hits the Profit and Loss.

What is very telling about how Celtic are trying to grow on transfers is by how much we have upped the amortisation per year value. A Quick Look over the squad I would reckon this has risen from 14m to £17.5m almost a 25% increase in our transfer strategy and that is a huge uplift. It doesn't sound like a lot but it is a big commitment from Celtic and where the e risk will be seen from the board as lying.

Cash is inconsequential in all of this doesn't matter how much is in the bank what's important to Celtic is remaining profitable year on year. Cash is just an asset on a balance sheet. But the profit and loss will be calculated from Revenue minus Running Costs, Players Wages and Amortisation of the assets and raising that figure can be the difference of profit and loss in non European seasons. Once the amortisation is raised it's locked in and the only way to reduce that cost is selling a player.

Good post but the board are still douche bags.

30 Aug 2024 23:01:41
I really don't get the negativity around McCowan.

The guy has 9 goal contributions in 8 games this season. 15 goal contributions in 41 games the season before.

We can only name 17 "foreign trained" players in the Champions league squad so if we sign another 5-6m midfielder from abroad who is dropping out the squad. And he's proven he can compete in the SPL just a reminder we play hopefully 10-12 games in the champions league and closer to 46-47 in Scotland.

He has transformed his game since moving in from the wings.

It seems like smart business considering we have 3 players in the midfield you would say are over £10m players plus Bernardo, Holm and now McCowan. Is he better than ORiley. not at the moment. But that's not who he was bought to replace. Is he better than Iwata, Kwon, McCarthy, Liam Shaw. The stats would say yes.

Tbhoy

1.) 30 Aug 2024 23:33:27
If we had an injury crisis and had ti throw in iwata, Holm or McGowan against that mob. It's Mccowan all day long for me. And that's even before he's kicked a ball. I'm starting to think I'm missing something here but in what, 2 years or so I can't remember a single thing of note that iwata did. Did he even make 1 telling pass? Or even 1 crunching tackle for a holding mid? Nothing personal against the lad and hood lick but a million miles from having the heart or ability to be even close to our midfield. If I've had a memory freeze and someone can tell me some of the great ganes he had maybe ill change my mind.

2.) 31 Aug 2024 06:50:01
I reckon iwata and Holm are better than McCowan, although he does help us get Scottish quota.

3.) 31 Aug 2024 07:53:56
Iwata was calm and reassuring and I cannot recall him making many mistakes. He played the easy ball and looked comfortable.

He is clearly not a BR player.

I like Holme, he has potential but not sure he's better than Iwata.

BR criticised him and Lawal and the latter is gone.

If Holme doesn't push on in next few months he could be away in January.

28 Aug 2024 14:23:17
Nope Not Having it.

Valle will need to go back to Barca. I was all for it signing a young Catalan LB who is well capped in the Spanish youth set up and looks a player.

But who give a Left Back the number 11. That's borderline Sacrilege.

Tbhoy

1.) 28 Aug 2024 17:00:31
He might not be a lB.

Kyogo is 8 which I also disagree with.

KT was 33/ 1 with skybet the other day. I know cause I was going to stick £20 on it just cause someone told me he was mega homesick. He is now 5/ 2 will have taken a bit to move that as most bookies cap that market just due to the sheer ability to get a tip off. I’ve had a few in the past and made a few quid. But it may be one worth watching. No idea how it would be affordable.

That sounds bang on Buzz

But I did hear somewhere the €40m euro release clause expired last window. How ever that could be ball locks or wishful thinking. He’s a bargain €40m.

Yearly with a 13.8% allowance for NI above threshold.

More than likely pension contributions will sit within a different part of the accounts but I haven’t looked hard enough.

Yeah the net figures on the 40m would include bonuses and not just basic wage virtually impossible to see the package makeups without wage info.

The biggest problem with a pressing game is when one or two don’t press you either press as a unit or don’t play the press.
