Surely but surely we see some incoming this week.
I know Celtic are away to USA on Tue but we need to see some movement.
Oh and Hatsa away covers Idah fee, Bernardo covers MO leaving, KS puts us back on a level footing from last season. Although if MO does go we're slightly weaker.
We need atleast 3 more quality signings on top of above.
We can't expect Sevco to have another bad start / season.
We need to bury them. They have no money and no home at this moment in time.

@ Greentree the apologists for the Board on here will just come on and moan at you or I for daring to ask Board to do their job, "it takes time to sign players" they will tell us, yet when SELLING a player they move quick there, our Board ar HYPOCRITES.
15 Jul 2024 11:17:42
We have lost 5 players from last season, 1 of which was an important first team player (hart) , 2 of which played key roles (Bernardo and Idah) , and the other 2 being squad players (Oh and haksa) .
So far we have made zero signings and we are on day 15 of the transfer window, longer if you include domestic transfer window.
At this moment in time we are weaker than last season. We have no first choice GK and only 1 striker. The bearing lack of transfers has on our current squad is compounded by losing key players to international football this summer. At this rate we are going to have players hitting the red zone and getting injured in certain positions if we don't address your squad deficiencies soon.

Either the club are playing their cards very close to their chest or any potential business is being complicated and drawn-out, because so far I have seen only speculation and hearsay on potential targets.
Whatever the case, I'm sure we will make progress this week - mibee.

In all honesty it’s hardly fair to name a player who went on a season long loan last season, and another player who didn’t get a sniff of an opportunity to get near our first eleven since end of January as squad players . These are the players some people on here regard as “deadwood “ and our aim should be to move them on permanently if possible, as they leaving won’t weaken our squad . None of us know what is happening about Celtic getting new players in and quite honesty we have no reason to know . We can be negative and name call the Board collectively, I feel that it isn’t reasonable as I very much doubt that the whole Board are responsible for the transfers in to our club. It might be sensible for those uneasy by lack of transfers or speed of them, to make enquiries as to what Board members are. Involved and target them . Specific Board members with responsibility for transfers would probably hate been targeted and are more likely to react than if we spread the responsibility over every Board member and they won’t feel any pressure.

Afternoon All
Once again this "Board Apologist" urges patience. Or should it be bored apologist?
Excluding Idah, Bernardo and Schmeikel 1st team ready signings are on there way.
Also as I posted on podcast last night it's highly likely we will be signing another younger decent goalkeeper as back up to KS but who will likely takeover more long term.
I am even more confident that the fact there are no real leaks or the usual mountain of players we are allegedly linked with being reported. I'm more sure than not that BR has players identified and we are just waiting on the right time to get deals done and dusted.
In this ever changing football world PR is massive.
Always Keep the Faith

Well said, that man!

Looks like the Villa keeper will be coming in to be bedded into squad.

Well said Brian, most of us like me, are no fans of the Board but I genuinely think we'll get players of the right quality in. The fact is negotiations with the selling club, the player and agent take time, especially in the real world of who offers the best deal. While acknowledging fans' distrust of our custodians, by the same token, we need to be patient. By all means if we get to mid to late August and we're having the same conversations, by all means let rip.

9iar quality looks at our league and thinks no thanks.
15 Jul 2024 14:05:50
Our recruitment team and board have a track record of past screw ups. So until I see completed transfers I will continue to have reservations.
15 Jul 2024 14:24:07
We've lost 3 players from last season who made a contribution, not five.
Kasper Schmeichel looks like he'll replace Joe Hart, the Villa keeper, Sinisola, might be his back up and possible future No.1.
Deals for Idah and Bernardo are being worked on and hopefully all 4 will join up with the rest of the squad in the USA ASAP.
We still need a starting CB to replace Scales, a LB to replace Taylor, a CDM and another attacking player or two, but if I'm thinking that then I'm sure BR is more than aware of it.
Keep the faith.

Some folks won't be happy until we are losing money and operating at a loss every year! If our outgoings cover our incomings surely that's the basics right?.
15 Jul 2024 15:26:17
@ Pedro @des I stand by my comment that we lost 5 players, 2 of which were squad players.
In previous posts I have stated that the sale of Oh was good business. However, it does not change the fact we only have a solitary striker in our squad as things stand.
If you have faith in the board and recruitment team, that is your prerogative, but I don't and for good reason. Obviously I want to be proved wrong and the sooner the better.

Weejoe,
at one point last season our first team squad had around 43 players, that included players out on loan.
The majority of those players would and should, never get near a Celtic jersey as they're simply nowhere near the standard required, and I would include players like Stephen welsh and Mikey Johnston in that statement.
OH and Haksabanovic both fell into the above and once he assessed the squad BR made some tweaks in January.
Idah showed us what a back up striker can do and Haksabanovic was papped put on loan - neither were a loss, not then and not now.
I'd imagine there will be a few more of our over inflated squad joining those two out the door and the wages they're currently picking up for doing no more than appearing with a squad number on the Celtic FC website, can go towards players who can improve the first team squad.

@pedro - I do agree that the squad needed trimmed and I also agree that both players needed moved on. However, none of that changes the fact that we have lost 5 players and got no e in at time of typing.

2nd keeper alongside KS in progress, a possible move for a winger, Idah and Bernardo deals boiling away, all we need is LB, CB, 3rd strker and CM as we may lose MOR. Juve sniffing, if we deal with them I would look for a guarantor before taking their money?
It has the potential to be a good window, I am more optimistic than pessimistic but until it slams shut, we will not be in a position to really judge.
15 Jul 2024 17:20:46
Timalloy, I must read a different Celtic Banter than you . Ii have been reading about MOR leaving and Celtic selling for 6 mths .
I am not aware of of Celtic spending longer than this.
15 Jul 2024 18:36:38
If juve want MOR it would be a daft 3.75m per year over 8 years, never trust the Italians and money something always dodgy in the background.
