I was one of the First "Green Brigade"

Only in my day we were the JUNGLE BHOYS, about 10,000 of us Celtic fans crammed into the old North terrace where the North Stand is nowadays.
On european nights under the old floodlights the atmosphere was ELECTRIC and filled with smoke which surrounded ground like a fog, but it just made Celtic Park so scintillating.
Once you entered the Jungle you found your favourite spot and stayed there as you litarally could not move, needing a piss, you did it in a beer can.
But we sang and sang entire 90 minutes and LOVED IT, you came home from Jungle, hoarse, sore all over with getting pushed and pulled by the crowd and full of dust and with wet trousers from some fan peeing all over the back of your legs.
It had its dangers too as all the young teams had their own designated spots The Shamrock, Cumbie, San Toi Calton Tongs and so many other gangs, but you had to tread carefully around these characters.
Green Brigade, they are pussies compared to The Jungle Bhoys
We WERE Celtic and Celtic loved the support we gave team.

“We WERE Celtic and Celtic loved the support we gave them”

That’s exactly how important the support the Green Brigade give to the modern Celtic teams.

Only losing 2 home league games in front of Celtic supporters in the last 8 years, confirms how much the Celtic supporters and particularly the Green Brigade bring to a successful Celtic team.
( the league was already won in one of those games )

The jungle was unprecedented. nothing to compare shove yer kop up yer arse next to the jungle.

The jungle was the only place to be at celtic park . As others have said at games you found your spot and kept it for everyother game . The European nights and games against that other mob were absolutely special. Its something I tell younger fans what they missed . Yes the gb bring colour and are lively but compared to the jungle it's night and day .

I miss the pish cascading down the stairs. ?

Was anyone brave enough to do a rubbish in the bogs at the old Celtic park?

My early memory in the jungle was when a Celtic supporter caused mayhem being in the Rangers end and got marched across the park right by the jungle with his 1967 Celtic scarf on, then realised it was my Uncle a was with my grandma his dad and we where so proud ?.

It's a bit of exaggeration to suggest Celtic won all those games due mainly to the GB, the other 58000 fans would argue that they had something to do with it.

I accept the support for them but they are not the be all and end all of the celtic support, they are a small section of it, who bring the atmosphere, i accept that but they are not 'the Celtic support' and if they don't come back, the club will till be here, continue winning and move on.

I hope they will still be in the stadium and this can be sorted but our clubs future success doesn't hang on them.

I agree maedainparadise but being honest the atmosphere at celtic Park is terrible nowadays.

DC I it is hard to disagree, as Ed said the other day, I could hear what the players were shouting at each other, which never happens.

I am also sure i heard spew heavens, somewhere on the radio, saying after 5 minutes, it's a poor day for Celtic, looks like they are dropping points to the sheep today.
