Just seen that Giakoumakis won the MLS newcomer of the year award beating Messi into second place, wish we still had GG this season.

Celtic signed GG on the cheap, after he finished the top goalscorer in Holland but we also sold him on the cheap.

He wanted games. Could we have dropped kyogo ? Would he then want away? Hard balancing act.

03 Nov 2023 12:33:47
Could the Spurs manager have tried harder to accommodate a player who was undoubtedly a class act?

Would GG have stayed under Brendan Rodgers?

I remember when he left and the Spurs manager was asked about him to which he replied ‘He’s off my radar’.

A cold response I thought at the time which adds up now.

As long as teams play with one main striker it will always be difficult to keep others happy and that is when man-management, rotation and even changing formation in certain games will help. Every manager will have their favourites, but every good team needs two quality players for each position and at present we don't.

was ange fault GG left he was just wanting some more game time and he asked ange and ange says no and big GG actually said fuk you and walked away from him. a lot of players were starting to get unhappy under ange and were wanting out this summer Rodgers talked most of them round.

03 Nov 2023 15:03:50
Ange said early on during his time with us that he never persuaded anyone to stay, that wasn’t his style United Ireland was spot on.

thing that annoyed me with ange was he knew he was jumping ship yet let players like gg leave.

03 Nov 2023 17:20:43
I was worried because Ange hadn’t committed to Celtic because no doubt he would’ve been offered a lengthy contract, after turning our club around.

The rumour is that Ange was going to sign a contract with Celtic, until the interest with Spurs but that was probably after the January transfer window closed.

Giakoumakis was one of the main reasons we won the title back because Kyogo was injured for about 3 or 4 months and big GG definitely stepped up when we needed him most.

I will always be grateful to big GG and I wish him all the best with his career although I still miss him.

He Scored with his last ever touch for Celtic. ?.

If I was the Celtic manager and Mark Lawell was asking me what I was looking for my answer would be find me another Giakoumakis he’s exactly what we need to give us options up front.

I watched him score with his left foot, right foot and his head in the same game.

PS: I’d say to Mark though see if you’re struggling to find one get me Shankland in the January window and that will keep me going while you’re looking although I was slaughtered for that on the podcast by big CampsieBhoy who’s teaching me English by the way.

Ha Ha,
Campsie will be pulling his hair out if he’s got any left?
I think Giakoumakis once scored a perfect hat trick for Celtic and it showed he is a good all round player.

It was possibly at home against Dundee but I’m sure he also did the same for Celtic.

I didn’t realise until recently, that there’s loads more to Shankland’s play other than scoring goals.
I noticed it when he was coming deep against Celtic.

I'd take shankland if we got him for under 3 million. Remember hearing hearts were looking for over 5 million for him. What players were wanting out jfp?

03 Nov 2023 23:41:16
Hearts will definitely be winning to negotiate because he will enter the last year of his contract, at the end of this season and his value will disintegrate.

He’s a Sevco fan and it’s a no brainier for them but I forgot about Zombies and brains.
