Guys, this talk about Broony leaving. Is it paper talk or is there real genuine substance in it beyond specualtion and cheap talk?
I'd be very disappointed if he left. I think he has a lot to offer the club, maybe not so much on the pitch but definitely off it. HH.

24 Mar 2021 00:38:51
I agree besty there’s going to be a lot of turnover at our club in the next year or so and he would be invaluable. I also think he deserves to have his final game in front of the fans, he might be nearing the end but he’s still got a part to play.

Agree0 Disagree0

Bestyboy
Scott Brown is a footballer if he can't offer much on the pitch. Would his large salary not be better used to develop the playing staff.
Don't see how anyone at this point can say Broony will be a good coach.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Mar 2021 07:57:41
Auf1888, Broony showed against the Sevs that he still has games in him, maybe not as many as before but as an influential 'go to' player when needed. Whether he would stay on the same salary is doubtful if he was taking a side step to get involved in other squad duties but he wouldn't be leaving for money as I'm sure the Sheep are not offering anywhere near what he's currently earning.
You're right when you say he hasn't proven his coaching qualities yet but he clearly has a lot of the most important qualities needed to have a chance therefore it would be equally wrong to say he won't be a good coach or to doubt his potential. HH.

I think it is worthwhile pointing out that Brown has been offered a 1 year extension by the club.

Not sure what the terms and conditions are but would be surprised if we were not dropping his salary considerably due to his talents waining and age.

Personally, I think there are good arguments both for and against keeping him and I am swaying towards letting him go and sarting a new era with someone else at the helm.

Would have loved to see him go out on a high of winning 10 in a row but sadly was not to be.

Evening ED 007 what's your thoughts on the interview Q&A with DD.

Absolutely horrendous.

Tragic.

Words fail me.

How many times.

‘Catholics will be shot’ sprayed on the walls in Bo’ness.

I’m happy to oppose racism every day of the week but what about we discuss institutionalised anti-Catholicism and sectarianism in Scotland.

Agree5 Disagree0

23 Mar 2021 22:19:55
I wish they would JFP but it seems to me to be so far down their list it might as well be on another page.

If it was anti semitic, Islamaphobic, any other form of racism or bigitory against any group, anything in the LBGT arena or anything whatsoever that's deemed non PC then it's in every media outlet and the Politicians and Cops will be all over it, BUT don't ever mention CATHOLICISM that's taboo.

Agree1 Disagree0

23 Mar 2021 22:25:47
That is the whole problem JFP; This country (whether UK or Scotland) is steeped in anti-Catholic sectarianism from the monarchy, through Parliament (s) , Establishments, Businesses, and even Law and Order.
Every form of discrimination from Homophobia, Islamophobia, Sexism, Disability, Anti-Semitism and Racism have all been 'Top Of The Pops' rightly so. However, Vile Religious Sectarianism has been conveniently and absurdly married to Republicanism as an equal opportunity to beat us with the same stick, while condoning and encouraging religious intolerance, where hate-crime doesn't count?

24 Mar 2021 10:22:14
Pedro OAB and Oldkilly

You may have heard me mentioning previously that I went to a debate in Edinburgh University when Neil Lennon was receiving bullets in the post and death threats etc. The subject was ‘Does Scotland have a problem with institutionalised anti-Catholicism? The overwhelming opinion was that the answer to that question was an emphatic ‘Yes. ’

The debate was attended by Professor Tom Devine who summarised by stating that the problem was twofold ‘the TIM was increasingly educated and no longer willing to keep his head down' and that this threatened a disenfranchised underclass living in bastions of loyalism in West Lothian, Lanarkshire and Glasgow whose only identity is based on commitment to crown, country and anti-Catholicism.

This murder is the most recent of many I can think of two other high profile cases previously in Bridgeton and Blantyre and there have been many others. Where is the political condemnation? The issue is the elephant in the room in Scotland and needs put on the table and discussed. The fact it hasn’t to date is the reason why the north of Ireland in my opinion has made more progress in many respects than Scotland.

Given that in recent weeks it would appear that if loyalist bigots choose to break the law in sufficient numbers there is not a lot the authorities are able to do about it in light of Police Scotland’s inability to effectively police celebrations in George Square during a global C.V. not to mention facilitating their march from Govan is a serious cause for concern.

The call from Celtic FC demanding that the clubs property be protected and complaint against Police actions by Glasgow City Council is alarming. This is Scotland 2021 not Derry or West Belfast 1968 although recent events are making we wonder.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Mar 2021 12:24:49
The word sectarianism is a nonsense. It’s racism.

Agree2 Disagree0

24 Mar 2021 15:38:01
JFP, I wasn't aware that you had attended the debate that you mention and unfortunately, nor am I surprised at the answer to the question being Yes, at that debate.

Far greater minds than my own have toiled with this question for decades in our peculiar part of this tiny country that we live in.

As you've mentioned, Sir Tom Devine, the multiple award winning and probably the foremost living Scottish historian, who's knowledge and qualifications to both discuss and debate this subject are unsurpassed, is still struggling to get his head around it.

Like the majority, I don't have the answers but I do believe, through experience and observation, that the issue of anti Catholic sentiment in our country is as strong today as it was 100 years ago and amazingly, the Scottish Government, Police Scotland and others in a position to affect positive change seem to be uninterested or unwilling to do anything about it.

I'm almost 50 years old, my Mother and Father (God rest them) were good, working class people, born and raised in the West of Scotland, my Grandmothers were Scottish and my Grandfathers were Irish (Donegal and Galway) to be precise.

My generation, thankfully, was rarely asked at an interview, 'which school did you go to'?

Nevertheless, I will always be proud of my heritage but continue to be dismayed at the ignorant hoard of bigoted, anti Catholic individuals, who somehow believe that the bile they spew is acceptable in a modern democracy, under the protection of the very establishment that should exist to protect us all, still believe that they are 'the PEEPUL'.

23 Mar 2021 19:33:45
So one thing that was missing from DD's interview was the mention of a director of football. He states lawwell, Bankirr and McKay will have a say but still need board approval. Is he just keeping quiet about a DOF or are we expecting something that is not going to happen? If we were to appoint a manager before a DOF it would be more bizarre behaviour from the club. Thoughts?

Believable1 Unbelievable0

23 Mar 2021 19:56:17
SOS-BHOY, was DD asked about a D. O. F.?
I'm thinking they're coming as a package (possibly from Man City) or that they may already have a D. O. F in place and he has agreed to the incoming Manager.

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Mar 2021 21:04:31
Not that i seen Pedro. But to mention the names choosing a manager and not to mention the DOF is strange. Are we definitely appointing a DOF?

Agree1 Disagree0

23 Mar 2021 21:55:02
Genuinely don't know as it's all speculation. The D. O. F. route is more hope than anything that the Club will go down this path.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I think there's been enough leaked to the press to believe that's the chosen route, Pedro. They simply can not allow McKay to make crucial footballing decisions.}

23 Mar 2021 22:24:37
I hope it is Ed and I believe, if done correctly, you're in favour of a D. O. F. as the way forward.

I'm keeping everything crossed that we get both appointments right and it's onwards and upwards.

DD has said he has no intention in selling his shares I for one am happy with that. I would say I disagree with part off his interview when he said that some people clamed they could see at the start off the season that we were in trouble of winning the league I am by no way a football expert in any way but I have said that all this season and before this season started that Lennon was not the man to take us to 10 I don't understand why the board could not see it even the signs were there in the European campaign alone and that was before domestic games had started.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Was good to hear Brian Dempsay hit a nerve with Desmond. There's not been any Rebel voice on Celtic's PLC board for some time. Just like the Shi? Show we witnessed at Holyrood this afternoon familiarity breeds weasel types that are only interested in themselves and their own. That's why Ronny and Lenny were appointed. If we get another yes man this time then serious questions need to be asked.

Martin O'Neill was continuously unsettling the board during his time I remember him speaking to Everton it was all to keep his authority as the manager we haven't had that. Brendan was a tart different breed altogether and showed no loyalty.

It's a big call this time But Keane is still the man for me.

Agree1 Disagree0

23 Mar 2021 21:08:10
He seen out the 8 with a handful off games left playing BR way off playing we were 8 points clear and ended up 9 points clear? with a good team. as for the 9 One team out played us off the park the two games we played them we won the 9 because they imploded second half off the season we never played them again that season. Before the start off this season we got humiliated out off Europe with terrible Terrible player choice tactics And still no light bulb movement from the board first time we played Sevco this season again we got pumped what more clues does any one want or need that it was not going to work?

Agree1 Disagree0

23 Mar 2021 19:00:08
Interesting comments from Mr Desmond when he mentioned negotiations will be a factor and that the next manager should play football the way Celtic fans expect.

Negotiations could of course apply to salary for any candidate but I think its a hint that the person we are after is employed or on gardening leave with another club and we will need to pay compensation to release him.

Up until now I felt Roy Keane would be appointed but you wouldn't associate him playing football the Celtic way, same with Steve Clarke.

I'm thinking it may well be Maresca or Marsch.

I don't think it will be Howe as I think he is biding his time for a premier league job.

There was talk of Lampard meeting directors but his missus just had a baby, I can't see him uprooting or fancying the commute from Glasgow to London for the next few years.

Domènec Torrent may be a decent outside bet. Close relations to the Man City group and may be known to Harkin if he lands the DOF role. He was Pep Guardiola's assistant at Bayern and Man City before leaving to become New York City manager.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

23 Mar 2021 19:49:13
could be maresca with the sound of it. the next manager should play football the way celtic fans expect and giving him to to implement his way looks like maresca he plays that way and will need time.

Agree1 Disagree0

23 Mar 2021 20:06:23
UI, I don't know anything about your man Maresca but I agree it's looking like he's a contender possibly along with Harkin as D. O. F.?

It amazes me how some fans want the new manager already in place, drawing up a list of players to sign in the next transfer window but at the same time don't want a repeat of the NL shower appointment.

Auf1888, all I can say is if the individual (s) Celtic are looking to offer the job to are still at another club (s) then we need to conduct our business properly or else the media will be running with the story that Celtic are tapping this one or that one and I'm sure there's a few out there who'd love that to cap off this season.

If it was/ is Roy Keane why has it taken so long? I appreciate people distancing themselves from the failed ten-attempt, but the league has been over for almost a fortnight and Keane is not in a managerial job The longer we leave this the more difficult the task ahead. As it stands right now, we are certain to lose several players with a good few more with uncertain futures to say the least.
This is another hugely important season for Celtic and we got the last one so badly wrong, so I hope wheels are turning quickly.

DD mentioned if we won the league or not this was going to be a faz of transition to me that sounded positive to the extent that they may have been planning ahead fingers crossed hahaha. One other thing s he didnot mention DOF being involved with new manager helping out that's prob because there is none at this moment so no need to that would give the game away telling u that.

A few wee stats for you Buzz.
Major Domestic Trophies in the 21st Century.

Celtic 33 Trophies
Scott Brown 23
PSG 22
Juventus 17
Barcelona 16
Man Utd 13
Ajax 12
Man City 11
Real Madrid 9
Arsenal 8
Liverpool 6.
Brown will be a huge loss and has had a great career with Celtic. If he's away to Aberdeen I wish him all the best for his future in coaching.

At the same time the Aberdeen job could present a great opportunity for him as he embarks on the next stage of his career.

Next season will mean big changes across the whole club - from the board right through the footballing set up, but if done correctly, it could lay the foundations for another run of success for years to come. Keep the Faith - HH.

With the news that Scott Brown could be leaving at the end of the season,
Bobby Lennox will remain the most successful Celtic player in our history.
Bobby Lennox has gained 25 major honours as a Celtic player.
Billy McNeill is second with 23 major honours.
Scott Brown has 22 with Celtic but he also won one league cup with Hibs, to take his overall tally to 23 major honours.
It's now up to James Forrest to try and close the gap at the top.
Forrest and Wee Jinky are both on 19 major honours with Celtic.
All of the above players, have missed at least one successful cup final due to injury, to add to their totals except for Scott Brown.
I think Scott Brown has received a winners medal in all our cup final victories, since he joined Celtic 14 years ago.

I will always be grateful to Stephen Glass for helping Celtic win the league in 1998.
Celtic had just lost top spot on goal difference because we lost by 2 clear goals at Ibrox.
Then the following week Stephen Glass scored the only goal of the game for Aberdeen against Rangers, which proved to be crucial and it put Celtic back to the top of the league, where we remained to secure our first title in 10 years.

Agree1 Disagree0

23 Mar 2021 13:12:21
Hindsight is a wonderful thing. Looking back I think its been to our detriment that we have let experienced players leave too early.
If we had kept Gordon, Lustig, Simunovic and Hayes we would probably be celebrating 10 in a row.
Gordon apart the rest would likely not be starters but their experience and winning mentality is invaluable around the squad.
I've got a feeling McGregor may want a crack at the Premier League this summer having seen Tierney rip it up down there.
If Brown leaves for Aberdeen the only real experience we have left in the squad is Forrest, Griffiths and Christie. That is a massive concern for me. I am not Brown biggest fan but I still feel he has an important role in us transitioning next season. Hopefully if he wants to stay the club will do the right thing by him.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

23 Mar 2021 14:56:16
Del Bhoy I can’t see Griffiths and Christie being here much longer . That’s why it’s so important the right options are found, if we were to get a decent manager he may talk one or two of the players to give it another season. I don’t personally want griff to be kept around, if as has been reported he’s one of our top earners on over 20 grand a week . His output for the last few years hasn’t been worth it .

The Premiership clubs are allowed a maximum of 5 Live home games a season for TV.
Sevco have been pencilled in for 5 live games with the last Derby match and the last game of the season.
The only other club who've had 5 live home games is St. Johnstone.
Sevco visit St. Johnstone on the same night Celtic travel to Pittodrie but a live match hasn't been confirmed yet for that night.
It should be the Celtic match that gets picked because St. Johnstone can't have another live game at home.
I think Celtic have only had 3 live games at home.
The 2 Sevco games and the opening match against Hamilton.
I thought our first game after the split would've been moved to the Sunday for TV instead of the Ibrox match being played on the Sunday against Hibs.
They can't show that Hibs game because they've already pencilled in 5 games at Ibrox but Celtic still have spaces to show live games at Celtic Park.
I hate that channel and I can't believe we are stuck with them for another 4 seasons at least.

Morning ED Brown to Aberdeen news ine is it true and do we think his decision is based on the not knowing what's going on at celtic or his own future prospects are better served else where?

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - I'm guessing Brown's train of thought is that being No.2 at Aberdeen is more appealing than working with Celtic's kids and if he wants to continue playing he may feel he has more to offer than the role he will have at Celtic next season - with the planned changes it may be seen that is as good a time as any to move on, a kind of final end to Lawwell's era.}

Personally I will be sorry to see Brown go. I would have thought that Celtic would have kept him for another year to help the transition for whoever's the new management team is and also the outgoing and incoming players. He is one of the fittest guys at the club and would help new players settle. his only fault was he got old but never gave less than 100 percent no matter what age he became

after all the banners and protest of negativity i hope everyone gives him the send of he deserves and show how much we appreciate what he did for this club and will always be welcome back. celtic legend indeed and that is what you call a real celtic legend no a couple a seasons by certain people then jump ship first chance.

My personal preference would have been to keep Scott Brown for another season possibly in a player/ coach capacity.

If he does go to Aberdeen he will no doubt leave Celtic with a heavy heart but great memories of the fantastic time he spent at the Club.

Maybe JK will look at Browns example and think it's high time he cut the apron strings and continued his coaching career elsewhere, who knows.

The guy again at the weekend proved there's still a place for him at Celtic, maybe not week in week out but surely a playing / coaching role could've been given to him? Wish to god Celtic would get their finger out and get this DOF and new manager nailed down. Getting bloody ridiculous now. How can anything positive get sorted going forward to next season while we're still messing about trying to get these positions sorted? And in the meantime due to the uncertainty broony is allowed to just walk away? Sick of this now Celtic.

Broony is a legend and deserves all the accolades going but he never played well on Sunday. Plays far to deep in midfield leaving a massive hole for other's to cover. When he gets the ball he slows play's down. Passes back and sideways and at no time on Sunday did he win game turning tackles, that he's famous for.

Very disappointing if true Scott Brown would have provided a degree of continuity during a period of transition.

In any other business he would have been retained even liquidators hold on to key senior staff for that very reason.

You telling me liquidators would renew a contract for a football player reported to be on £30,000 plus wages. When there job is to cut costs and save money.

For what it's worth I thought Broony was excellent against Sevco and stayed deep to protect Welsh among other things to allow Cal-Mac and Turnbull to attack. However, Cal-Mac has been a shade of his best and the goals have dried-up, while Turnbull has one eye on the subs board The only good thing I would see from Broony taking another job, is to follow the path of Tommy Burns, learn his trade and come back?

I didn’t say anything about his existing remuneration or contract conditions being maintained.

Yes, I’m telling you liquidators who’s role isn’t to cut jobs or save money per se but to maximise the value of the particular asset would see value that retaining certain senior staff might make towards that objective.

Scott Brown by providing a degree of continuity during what is likely to be a period of massive transition could be considered to add value in that context.

You disagreeth why pray tell thou?

That’s the one plus point if he leaves that he learns his trade elsewhere like Tommy Burns and Billy McNeil before him.

It’s bad timing for me though for the reasons stated and he’d have been worth a further years contract.

Brown was one of our better performers on Sunday. He’s not there to be dynamic. He’s breaking them up, and he did it. Looked like he had more energy.

Losing him from the dressing room will be a huge loss because no one else has his drive or determination. McGregor certainly isn’t a leader (a though if he surprised if he was here next year) .

I can see a huge overhaul in the management and playing staff so brown is important for continuity imo. Especially if it’s a foreign manager. Id expect him to play less next year, but if he desperate to keep him around.

Auf1888, I’m no sure what you watched on Sunday but it certainly wasn’t a poor performance from Scott brown. My god if you thought he was poor on the day what’s your opinion on christie, mcgregor, turnbull, edouard etc. Brown should definitely be kept on in a time of uncertainty and transition. You say he plays far too deep? Is that maybe because oor defence is rank rotten and needs some support? For me brown on Sunday was one of our best players on the day.

auf1888 broony never played well what game were you watching he got man of the match. scott brown is just not the scott brown of a few years back. he has got old it happens but from the day he joined to the day he leaves he has been a great captain and leader for us and 100 percent a celtic legend.

Brown isn't there to be dynamic. That's just mental of course he is. How many games has he won for us by being dynamic in tackles.

United Ireland
You admit Broony isn't the same player but want to keep a declining player for sentimental reasons. How about this for a forward thinking idea we use his large salary to buy a player that isn't declining. Some time's the sticky plaster has to get ripped off. Agree with you that he's a Celtic legend but sadly all greats have to hang up there boots.

Shows how much our standard has fallen if everyone thinks Sunday's performance was acceptable. No drive, no commitment, no fight against a team that was out in there feet.

23 Mar 2021 11:31:38
You yourself said he’s not the same player. Neither is his role. He’s not there to be dynamic. Dynamic is box to box, tackling, passing. He’s effectively a block in front of the defence when we are out of position. He has space to move forward when we have the ball.
He dominated the midfield on Sunday. Their midfield wasn’t in it. They created practically nothing.
If you thought brown was bad, you must have hated Christie. McGregor has been awful this season and he wasn’t up to much on Sunday.
Brown, welsh, Ajer and laxalt were our best performers. Moi and Turnbull were decent. The rest were poor. And Christie created a new level of garbage performance on Sunday.

Totally agree JFP, Broony would have provided a 'bridge' between the old and new at the Club from a footballing persepctive as he was ideally placed to fulfill that role.

Great player, professional, leader and an inspiration to so many of the younger players coming through at the club.

Auf1888,firstly who has stated Sunday’s level of performance was acceptable? On the day I felt Celtic were the better team but not superb, secondly taking Sunday in isolation, if Celtic played as bad as your making out, why did it take Kennedy till the 75th minute to make his first substitution from 5 subs? Brown strolled that game on Sunday, there were far more bang average performances from players on that park than brown. Your quick to jump on browns performance, what about Kennedy as manager in the day? What did u make of his substitutions and timing of them?

auf1888. were did i say i want to keep him i was defending him against your stupid assessment of he did not play well on sunday when he was man of the match. and for keeping scott brown yes i would like him to stay on as a player coach but concentrate more on the coaching side and have him as a option to add a bit of deph to the squad broony offers so much to this team off the field and it will be a big loss. as in terms of wages his wages would take a bit of a hit when he goes to a coaching role. but if he goes to Aberdeen i wish him all the best and always welcome back at celtic park and totally understand if he takes that move. 100 percent a celtic legend.

So he's changed roles now. That's a new yin still playing the same postion just getting slower and less effective in the midfield. It happens to all players.

The debate was about Broony. I didn't give anyone pass marks on Sunday.

What makes Scott Brown a good coach. We've been bitten with this before. If he goes and earn his coaching stripes somewhere else. He will return to Celtic when the time is right. Personally i think we need a clean break going into next season.

Think sentiment is getting in the way of practicable decision making.

auf1888 what makes anybody a good coach first time round and who is saying a coach for the first team. this has nothing to do with sentiment we all know scott browns ability and he would bring a lot to our youth set up he was already coaching the youths a few years back and gave it up to concentrate on having a final few good seasons for us.

I’ve not always agreed that broonie should have been in the team this season as he was slowing down a bit with age. In European games he was making the odd mistake he wouldn’t normally have made a few years ago.
In saying that personally I would definitely have liked to have kept him on for another season, but on reduced wages . There is no way he is getting anywhere near 30 grand a week at Aberdeen, so there must have been room for manoeuvre . His experience would have massively helped with the obvious new incomings we are going to be bringing in.
He could have played the odd game, and who’s to say the new manager wouldn’t have connected with him and asked him to join his coaching staff? It happened with Kennedy with Rogers . He will be a massive miss to the club but he will go a legend and should always be welcome back.

Never heard of the guy either - but if true - it's hardly the headline announcement we had when the Leicester manager arrived; but the Board must know something in his favour, to appoint him ahead of other better-known applicants? We wait and hope.

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Mar 2021 10:11:46
He's not my first pick but I'd like to offer an alternative perspective. It's definitely not Box Office BigBenny but it all depends on what the vision is for the club moving forward and whether he's a good fit for that. Jesse Marsch is a prime example of how we need to get these guys early or they can become unattainable very quickly. An appointment like Maresca would suggest we're looking to focus more on our player development and in that sense he's working at the very top level. He's on course to deliver City their first ever PL2 title with rave reviews for their tactical nous and style of play so he's obviously doing his current job very well. The big question is can he scale it up to first team level? You'd hope playing under guys like Lippi, Ancelotti and Juande Ramos and winning multiple European trophies wouldn't hurt his chances.

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Mar 2021 11:43:51
Bigbenny, I hear what you're saying but Slippy G had barely a dozen games as a 'coach' before he went to the dark side and he's won the league in 3 years.

If your man from City is appointed along with a D. O. F is that any less of an appointment?

Let's wait and see what happens but make no mistake, like you, I know how important this appointment is but at the same time keep the faith.

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Mar 2021 11:47:56
If the rumours are true and we are brining in Enzo Maresca along with Harkin, Don't you think that we have asked Harkin who he wants to work with?
I think it has a lot more to do with there working relationship that they already have, you wouldn't want to bring in a DOF then a Head Coach who then don't get on (Brown and Jansen)
It could be that the attraction with Maresca is that he has plenty of experience as an assistant and with working with young players, we might see a lot more young guys coming through the academy.
And for people saying he doesn't have any experience, He has a hell of a lot more than Lennon did when he came in. If the guy had played for us no one would be caring what experience he had.

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Mar 2021 12:02:09
If we’d win the ten, I think the maresca thing would have been interesting, if not immediately exciting. It’s a risk now though imo. If they don’t sell anyone important or lose slippy, then we will be playing catch up if our squad gets decimated the way I expect. If we bring in maresca and they win a second title, the board wil have to go into hiding.

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Mar 2021 15:18:30
Surely if we are going for Harkin and Maresca, we will see a few of city’s young team following them up, maybe that’s the route the club want us to take, bringing through a hungry young side . If you worked under both of them,
And probably would never get through to city’s first team, we aren’t a bad club to start with . Massive crowds, strong chance of picking up trophies, possible euro football . Harkin if I’m not wrong is in charge of finding all good young players for the city academy. If he comes and finds us a few young diamonds that we can improve and sell on whilst winning, we will all be happy .

I was having a look at the Celtic starting lineup from yesterday and I was shocked to notice that Celtic have paid more money for Edouard than the other 10 players combined in permanent transfer fees.
Our goalkeeper and 4 defenders have only cost Celtic a combined £0.54 million in permanent transfer fees.
The other 5 players combined have cost the club slightly over £8 million.
And one of those players is Scott Brown @ £4.4 million, we paid 14 years ago.
Those 10 players combined is still less than the £9 million, Celtic paid for Edouard.
Also the 4 substitutes Celtic brought on, only cost the club a combined £3.5 million.
Take Edouard out of the equation.
That's 14 Celtic players which has cost the club about £12 million on permanent transfer fees.
And we wonder why Celtic are 20 points behind in the league.
