Thanks to Gavin Strachan (WWGS) for holding the fort against Hibs. You did yourself and your old man proud. You did what was asked of you when nobody else capable was available. Better than that they asked you questions that weren't yours to answer and you gave away nothing. Thanks again.

Who would be able answer your questions buzz? Seems reasonable enough to ask imo Do they not need explain why when change it? Is it questions Celtic should be asking? Feel like we've given up fighting our corner.

Would play Taylor at lb and young Robertson in front of him on Sat. wee Mikey who was mince on Mon at no 9 the rest picks itself.

If Taylor is available, I would play him at left back, I would play Dembele in Rogics position, and I would play Oko-Flex in Harper's position, in regards to the team that started against Hibs.

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Jan 2021 10:50:24
Yes aindoh. I like look of oko flex he did well I thought when came on . Dembele couldn't be less effective than rogic. Young Harper looked rapid but nervous as kitten I do think rogic super gifted footballer but did look like old man the other night. I'm a big fan of Henderson too and seem to remember Robertson showing up well when played in Europe Lawell attempting explanation/ apologising was unexpected but definitely needed. Acknowledging that mistakes been made the first step to a solution. I know lots fans on here thinking just lip service for renewals and I do agree to a point but it was a welcome change from the silence which only riles everone up.

Micky needs punted. he's just another Jamie smith.

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Jan 2021 12:40:42
I think Johnston wide left causes teams a lot of problems. Also we r pish the now. Jamie Smith wasnt good enough in a different era when he was up against true quality for a starting spot. Mikey is worth having around the first team.

The furore over the trip to Dubai is much ado about nothing if you ask me.

The way everyone and their dug wants to put the boot in, only shows that it is a witch hunt.

I don't recall there being such an angry response when they were playing players who had not been tested or when their players were having illegal house parties and breaking government and football rules.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

13 Jan 2021 19:50:19
LAW I don’t give a monkeys about what the MSSM or anybody else thinks about the Dubai trip but the reason for my outrage and furore is that we’d to play HIBS with 13 players self isolating and no strikers as a result which effectively put the last nail in the league coffins lid and will need to do the same again against Livingston.

Agree3 Disagree0

13 Jan 2021 20:01:57
That is true about certain people in media are loving this. But as a club Celtic have to take responsibility for there actions and IMO Celtic have to hold there hands up for the mistakes that they make. I just hope and wish they take on board Celtic supporters views and learn from the mistakes they have made in the past two years and really do move forward.

Agree3 Disagree0

13 Jan 2021 20:12:15
I didn't agree with Dubai but when we play in European comps we fly all over Europe and then come home what's the difference. and you have internationals. love someone to ask wee nic her thoughts on that.

Agree1 Disagree0

13 Jan 2021 20:28:13
LAW
Are you having a laugh? Instead of pi**ing off for a p*ss up we could have played a couple of games that we have in hand and really put them under pressure but now because of the wee holiday we have dropped more points against Hibs and will probably drop more against Livi.
Also how many fans that have paid hundreds of ££££ for season tickets and merch had there holidays cancelled this year just to then watch the team jet off after getting beat by Sevco Again.
Oh and just to let you know that both there players got 7 game bans for breaking lockdown rules.

Agree4 Disagree0

13 Jan 2021 20:39:13
Mally there are experts appointed to advise the Scottish government on every specialist area including construction, manufacturing and sport etc. I think the First Minister (or wee nic as your fellow Unionists call her) has responsibility for the bigger picture and has more on her plate than where Celtic’s have planned their next booze cruise.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Jan 2021 20:54:28
I don’t really understand why a few of the games in hand weren’t played, maybe a hope form would be better or a fast reduction in the gap as points gained when the south sliders were in europe.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Jan 2021 21:38:21
No games were played because all spfl clubs were on a week break. Do yous think clubs would just allow our issues to affect their plans, would you have been happy for Celtic to change our plans to suit another club that had a fixture back log.

Agree1 Disagree0

13 Jan 2021 21:39:49
Jonbhoy71 yes their two players got seven match bans two players who who were just squad players who rarely featured. Both ourselves and Aberdeen were fined £30 thousand and slaughtered in Holyrood yet sevco got praised. I agree with LAW regarding the trip to Dubai such a fuss being made regarding it with everybody and their granny having something to say Swinney, Sturgeon, McLeish, Boyd, McCoist Walker, and now some reporter in the record getting her say on it. On Monday All leagues below the championship were cancelled in Scotland, yet on Tuesday Brora Rangers embarked on a 560 mile round trip to play Tranent in the cup why was it allowed to take place if there is such a concern with teams at that level. Anything regarding Celtic is like a Duracell battery it goes on and on. Sturgeon after months of preaching the importance of wearing a mask is pictured talking to a group without hers she apologises and that’s the end of it. Now that Lawwell has apologised will that be the end of it not a hope in hell, it will carry on because it won’t be enough for some. Since Monday there have been 5000 confirmed cases in Scotland, where did they all contract it from not from Celtic going to Dubai, it’s those who blatantly flaunt the rules who are responsible and should be named and shamed. I’m as disappointed as everyone else the way this season has gone and as a punter I would bet if Celtic were on sevcos tails with three games in hand there wouldn’t be a problem with going to Dubai, too many fans are caught up in this ten in a row. To JFP1888 if wee nic has responsibility with the bigger picture why did she allow the above match I mentioned to go ahead with commenting on it.

Agree1 Disagree0

13 Jan 2021 22:10:17
Jfp av been called a lot of things but never a unionist in fact Ian quite the opposite. ok sturgeon seems to gavecselectuvevmemiry loss when the rules are breached and as I've said it's a C.V. so why was European and international football not cancelled.

Agree1 Disagree0

13 Jan 2021 22:19:50
I take it your joking?
Our biggest problem seems to be that the club or our fans still don’t get it.
It’s everybody else’s fault, how come they were badly behaved and only got this punishment but we got this etc etc.
Other teams have had points docked but because Sevcos players who didn’t mix with anybody else immediately after braking rules and got 7 game bans each and we had to isolate let’s blame everyone else.
If you don’t something when something needs to change we will have the same issues.
Board not going anywhere soon so it’s time to start planning for next season.
Get dead wood out the door, step up the search for new manager yesterday and get our recruitment department to start identifying proper realistic improvements to the squad.
3-4 quality players and we will be a force again!

End of the day it shouldn't be tit for tat. We are in this mess because of Lennon and his tactics, insisting on playing players that should not be anywhere near team. That's why we are trailing in league and 10iar has gone.

Agree2 Disagree0

13 Jan 2021 22:45:24
Why were we the only premier League club that needed to go to Dubai, in the middle of an ongoing deadly C.V., is it because we have more money than the other clubs?, and we like to flash the cash, is it because our players needed a bonding session more than other clubs players?, and if they did, there must have been some out door pursuits, they could have done in this country, mixed in with some football training, and permission could have been obtained from Wee Nicola, (and I am not a unionist, and she doesn't believe in independence ) .

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Jan 2021 23:34:11
Oldkilly
Take the green tinted glasses off and get the "everyone is against us " out your head.
The league's being suspended has NOTHING to do with the Scottish Government as it was the SPL and SFA that decided to postpone the games as noted in there official announcement, it's got to do with the part-time player not being able to stay in the "football bubble" but I guess that's the governments fault as well.

It was also the SFA that let the Brora game to go ahead, maybe it was because they had already travelled.
What does it matter if there players are 1st, squad or junior players, they were still punished, and if you think that what they did compared to our player and the Aberdeen 8 are the same then you are deluded.
Oh and to mention the FM and the photo is ridiculous, She was at a private funeral, was sitting drinking tea and stood up and turned around and someone on the staff at the event was waiting with a camera.
You are also totally missing the point regarding the Dubai trip, who on here mentioned anything in regards to the C.V. spike being Celtics fault? the point is that when "normal people" aren't allowed to travel more than 5 miles from there home, who in inside Parkhead thought it was a good idea to feck aff half way around the world, a group of 49 people on a chartered private plane to a 5 star hotel all paid for by the fan for 4 days training?
Don't we have a state of the art training facility that had millions spent on it?
We were also told that it was a hard training but there are taking injured players amongst the group, why wasn't 1 trainer and Jullian left at home?
This trip is a slap in the face to the fans.

Agree2 Disagree0

14 Jan 2021 15:59:44
The reason we went to Dubai is the same reason we have done so in the other recent years. let's remember how well the Dubai training camp has worked for our team in recent years, as they have came back, fired up and ended the season strongly.

Yes with hindsight we may have shot ourselves in the foot with Julien getting CV and thus causing the team to self isolate.

However, there was probably more chance of him catching it in Scotland as the R number in Scotland is higher than in Dubai.

In answer to the Rangers players getting 7 match bans, yes this was suitable punishment. However, there was no mention of the other Rangers players who attended the party in the media or by the Scottish Government and who should have also got banned. It was also strange that 2 Rangers players had C.V. but miraculously, none of them came into contact with any of the other players or staff.

In my view PL doing his bit on Celtic Telly is better than nothing, too late but better than nothing none the less.
Everyone outsode of CP seems to be baying for blood but ths storm will pass as it's done.
The bigger questions, as already mentioned on this site earlier, will be around where the club goes from here.

* will they change the coaching structure for the 1st team?
* will they bring in a D. O. F?
* which players will leave?
* which players will come in?
* which coach/ manager will come in?
* will Lawwell retire or be replaced?
* will they improve/ change the youth coaching set up?
* will John Kennedy be at the front door to welcome yet another new Manager?

Ed do you reckon a CH and winger will be brought in soon? The new manager will have some job trying to build a squad with the likes of these all leaving Edouard, Corpus, Rogic, Ajer, Ntcham, Elhamed, Elyounoussi, Laxalt, Duffy, Ralston, Hendry Bolongoli and Shved. Also Julien and Calmac rumours. Not long ago I thought a Left Back and CH was all we required before Laxalt Taylor and Duffy came in. Will Hammond be trusted with millions for a rebuild?

I think Lawwell deserves credit for coming out and doing what our fans wanted and that’s apologise for making the mistake in going to Dubai.
I still believe that Dermot Desmond had the final say in keeping Lennon back in November.
I think if it was up to Lawwell, then Lennon would’ve been replaced.

Ed 007 at least the club have come out and acknowledged their mistake with regards to Dubai. Sometimes in life you make mistakes and irrespective of how much you would like to rewind and undo it you can’t. The best you can do is hold your hands up. He’s done that with respect to Dubai and apologised he can do no more. I’d like to know if it was Dermot Desmond that nailed his tail to that seat and made him make the announcement and apologise.

Disappointed however that he didn’t honour the board’s commitment made in November as I said earlier to update us following the January review in the context of their statement made then that Neil Lennon was the man to turn thing round about which we all know now not to be the case. Maybe that will come later in January but it will certainly need to come before season ticket renewal time. PS: he hasn’t half aged dramatically.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - The Dubai stuff I really couldn't care less about, JFP. The Board never made any commitment to update the fans regarding a review:

"The Board continues to work closely with Neil and his team to support them as they seek to do so and progress will be reviewed in the new year.
The Board wishes to take this opportunity to thank all Celtic supporters ....."

I think even JP Taylor has got the wrong end of the stick as there was never any official statement - that I can see anyway - that fans would be updated.}

13 Jan 2021 18:17:06
All staged by lawell, he may as well have gave Gerry the questions.
It’s worked for us the last 4 years, yes but we weren’t in a global C.V. and we weren’t 19 points behind them.
Then the usual “let’s stick together “ he’s starting his baiting for season tickets already, mentioning world class club . World class clubs don’t get beat by Ross county, go 22 points behind their rivals, and the football we watched this year has been anything but class.

Agree2 Disagree0

13 Jan 2021 18:24:18
Ed good quote that statement certainly doesn’t reflect JP Taylor’s statement. For me the reason an apology was due for Dubai isn’t that it wasn’t too clever but the outcome and losing to Hibs with having to play with no recognised strikers self isolating. As I said he can’t undo it what's done is done. Just received the PL interview from the club by email which has obviously been sent to all season ticket holders something had obviously made him act. On another note the interviewer referred to allegations of arrogance and loss of values at the club? I think these guys are on the banter page Ed. I’ve thought that with a few articles I’ve read elsewhere which were just about word for word for comments on here. Either that or one our butters are under cover reporters. 😂 Cheers Ed.

Personally I think the Board now realise the arrogant and aloof approach was not going down well at all with the fans and felt they had to change tack. I feel that the statement is about as disingenuous as you will come across and is seen by them as a sop to try and calm the disquiet. It shrieks of fabrication and appeasement. It is also the classic tactic of "it's them and us" scenario. I, for one, am not buying it. No deflection from the corporate dereliction of duty from the top down in my opinion.

This is based purely on figures in my head but IF we sell Eddie Ajer Christie Ntcham Julien and Duffy El noussi Laxalt return to their clubs to free up wages that should give us AT LEAST 50 million in transfers (20 eddie, 12 Ajer, 10 christie, ntcham 4, Julien 6) how much would we expect the new manager to get for the rebuild? Considering the cost of no fans and a poor season on every front i don't expect them to get anywhere near the 50 but would hope at least 30 million would be available. I really hope we sign 6 players at around 5 mill rather than blowing lots of it on average players for cheap. Then promote a few players from the youth to make up the numbers.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

13 Jan 2021 15:35:39
Doesnt matter how much we get . if lawell picks the incoming new players 90 plus percent will be duds if the track record continues. 6m of it could be about to be wasted on laxalt.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Jan 2021 15:48:30
Dont think Laxalt is worth the 6 million but he's not a bad signing he's had a few excellent games and once he can speak English etc his game could improve. I do hope at the end of the year Lawell steps down and i do think its time for a change but its not Lawells job to spot players that's Hammonds remit, granted Lawell tends to choose the cheaper option but he doesn't pick the players to choose from.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Jan 2021 16:22:43
There are stories all over the MSM today about players leaving - like Eddy for a bargain £25 and although we could possibly sell four or five in this window, the ones quoted are all self-isolating.
We need a couple in the door immediately, as we have no strikers and are really struggling for a decent 'keeper and centre back.
As far as Laxalt goes btw, I would not pursue a perm deal as he gives away far too many free kicks and never cuts out crosses.

Agree2 Disagree0

I still feel we are due an explanation and agree 100% with Pat Bonner given recent events surrounding the Dubai fiasco and the resultant situation which has forced us to field weakened teams against Hibs which effectively pull the final nail in the leagues coffin lid and against Livingston.

QUOTE

'If I had the opportunity and somebody to talk to inside Celtic I would've phoned up and been really angry. I'm also a shareholder at the club, albeit very small, but all of those people the fans, shareholders they have a right to hear from the club and from Peter Lawwell.

"We'll learn from it and we'll move on' I would like to hear that because it would go somewhere to at least saying they're thinking about what they're doing. Anybody within the board, whoever's the spokesman from a leadership point of view, should be coming out and saying, 'Listen, guys, we've got this wrong and we'll admit we didn't read it properly. We got it wrong from that perspective'".

Well said Patrick. (Do you still have your gloves? )

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I don’t think Celtic will admit to anything until after the investigation because the SFA will use anything we say against us.

The thing that gets me about John Kennedys criticism of Pakki Bonners criticism of the training methods used to prepare against set pieces into the box, is that, well the way I see it, Kennedy was saying that because Bonner doesn't know anything about they do in training, he should just shut it, but the point is, whatever they are doing in training, just isn't working, and maybe they should get somebody into the coaching staff that can take constructive criticism, and employ training methods that work, this not being able to deal with cross balls has been going on for years, even when the defensive personnel change, they new players still have the
same problems, maybe they should make a defensive coach a top priority.

Agree3 Disagree0

13 Jan 2021 19:02:46
Aindoh, completely agree - our set pieces defensively are a bomb scare and lead to too many goals.
For me Kennedy should shut it, Packie is a legend at CP and has more experience in footballing terms than Kennedy ever will.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Jan 2021 19:36:50
Aindoh that’s a great point. Big Packie doesn’t need to know what’s happening in training all he needs to know he can see with his own eyes that we can’t defend a cross ball. It’s like when the wife’s on a diet you don’t need to know one or what she’s eating to know it’s not working!

Ed 007

What do you know about JP Taylor who apparently is our SLO? Is he a fans representative or a lackey of the bourgeoisie?

As you know the board stated after fan protest they believed Neil Lennon was the man to turn things around which has dramatically proven not to be case. If you make a statement like that and your claim subsequently fails to materialise as it has done you would expect an explanation why.

JP Taylor stated yesterday that 'the Club committed to a review and update in January at the end of November so it should happen. ' They did and it should.

Any thoughts on whether the board will update us as to the findings of the review?

Believable3 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - JP is one of life's good guys, JFP and I've known him for more than 25 years when he worked in the ticket office but his hands are tied in what he can do as SLO and some of the hassle & abuse he takes on social media is ridiculous. It's a thankless job and not worth the grief imo which is a testament to JFP's creds as a good Celtic man, lesser men would have walked away from it.
I don't see why the board would update the support on any review, matters are continuously reviewed throughout the season and the support don't demand - or have a right - to know about them. They might even have done the review internally and we might never know the outcome of.
It was a stupid statement for the Club to make in the first place as - has been shown - they put a timeframe on it for the fans to latch onto and zero in on.}

Ed, on the point about Lawwell underperforming or not I think it depends on what you deem as success - or "enough" success. Obviously we've gone through the most dominant period in, not only our club's, but Scottish football history. On that note there's really no argument to be had. On the other hand, the fans think differently to business men, and nailed their colours to the mast early that 10 in a row was the single most important thing. With less competition domestically for a few years plans could and should have been put in place to almost guarantee that dream became a reality. Europe has also been a huge disappointment throughout the entire 10 in a row effort. I have mixed feelings about it and would like to see a change of direction at the end of this season.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - Lawwell done what a large majority of fans wanted in keeping us in front of TRIFK, that was all that mattered to them and it's only now that they are in front of us those same fans are outraged. All they cared about was bragging rights with their mates and being able to laugh about Sevco, liquidation etc and now it's came back to bite them on the bum and they don't like it.
Well tough, they got what they wanted - not to mention the Neil Francis Lennon they wanted - and it's only now they're seeing how parochial and myopic their outlook has been.}

Ed to your mind, when do u realistically see changes starting to happen? I know you've not got a magic ball, just looking for your opinion mate. Surely now from where we currently sit the fans accept it's highly highly unlikely we're catching them, and that's just from the ones who still have slight optimism, the majority I'd suggest have accepted the titles gone. That said and the whole Dubai debacle that was supposed to somehow transform our season, which has done the complete opposite and crippled our playing squad for 10 days. Surely now if rumours are true about certain big changes coming this summer, surely desmond must be looking and thinking " right enough is enough, no point waiting any longer, we've made a pigs ear of this and we need to put the wheels in motion now"? I'm far from expecting apologies for the lack of urgency from the board but surely behind the scenes the major players within our club need to be acting now, and should've been months ago?

{Ed007's Note - I'd take a guess that there is already moves being made behind the scenes to replace Lennon and that it'll be announced in March - around about season ticket renewal time - that he will be stepping down at the end of the season.}

I must admit I've been hugely impressed with Nisbet this season. He's played very well in the three games against us. Also played very well in the 2-2 game against the other lot. Big, strong, very good movement, holds the ball up well and great work rate. Ed any idea if we have an interest in the boy?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - You'd like to think that we are interested & keeping an eye on all the good young players in Scotland or once again somebody isn't doing their job right.}

Some guy called Roy Keane is possibly looking to go back into football management would you be expecting a big name like that or an up and coming manager to come in ED007.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Yes it'll be either a big name or an up and coming manager but I hope it's not Roy Keane 💚peace be upon him💚 that gets the main gig.}

13 Jan 2021 12:24:13
What is needed though what's going to get the fans to jump on board big name or up and coming ED007?

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - We could appoint Jurgen Klopp and there's fans out there who would still moan and ask why Damien Duff or Maloney didn't get the job.
It's not about who we appoint, Rich, it's about the structure of the Club and the way it's being ran that are the problems.}

The boy nisbet is a great player.

Always appreciate reading your views/ insight Ed and I 100% agree that there's too many fans for far too long, that have hung their hat on the Manager and the Manager alone.
If Lawwell is still in place pulling the strings and undermining the Manager then it doesn't matter if we got the next Stein, Shankly or Busby as they'd be trying to do their job with one hand tied behind their back.
The structure needs to change, the Club needs to change in both it's vision and practises from a footballing perspective and if done correctly, with the right people in place, then there's no reason why we shouldn't get back on track with a solid team playing the Celtic way on the park and a youth policy to match.
If we only take one thing away from this season then it's, what we should not do or repeat going forward.

{Ed007's Note - Hopefully some lessons have been learnt this season, Pedro.}

No Rogic for me, total waste of a shirt and same with Jonnston, he is another Christie and thinks he can do everything himself before blasting the ball over the bar.

Agree, Rogic is trash and offers nothing, He used to flatter to deceive now he doesn't even flatter. I'd rather we started Henderson over him. Maybe start Robertson in alongside Soro, McGregor and play Turnbull and Henderson as 2 CAM in behind Johnston.

I would play with ten men before playing rogic, johnstone or laxalt.

Harper and Oxo-Flex showed on Monday they’re nowhere near ready to start for the first team.
We might need to play either of them for the last 20 minutes.
Celtic might be forced to start with Johnston up front but he won’t last 90 minutes.
It’s typical that 6 players who’ve played as strikers for Celtic this season are all included in the 13 players who have been forced to isolate.

Totally agree Kev, Rogic see ye, Laxalt see ye and I don't mean to offend any Johnston fans on here but he's a greedy wee sod on the park. I laughed the other night when he'd the cheek to shout at young Harper when he shot at goal rather than cut the ball back to 'Mikey' - what goes around comes around.

Thought Johnstons tumble looking for a penalty late on in the game was a bit embarrassing.
