Upamecano? The boy is mustard surprised he's not ended up in the pub league already.

Think the old Jorge Cadete song will resurface with the Ajeti signing 🤣 If we ever get back in again 😭.

Ed

I really did enjoy the ajeti interviews

Great english
Good attitude
Answered every question confidently and intelligently

" SEEMS ' like the real deal. There's a wee saying "liking the cut of his gib" or something like that. In Ajeti case I was very impressed indeed

He was very flattering about NL and our sporting director ( hammond? ) And it seems we made a concerted effort to make this happen

I think barkas and ajeti in any " window" would be regarded as reasonably ambitious.

I also heard indirectly via a reasonably connected/ plugged in guy who knows a key member of the executive, that the club is making a bigger effort to spot " quality" that can impact on the first eleven . ie they are genuinely trying to improve the 1st eleven as opposed to 1 to 2 million back ups. They still love the " project" but its nice to see us going that little bit further with more credible targets

Long may it continue

I don't always get a good feeling with just any old signing, but barkas and ajeti look and sound the part and will improve us ( IMVHO)

Are you happy with the 2 in Ed?

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - I'm delighted with the 3 we've brought in, Lubo, Elyounoussi coming back was a great move and hopefully this time next year we're in a position to make the move permanent.
I was speaking to someone today who told me that the hold up with Ajeti was coming from the West Ham end who were pushing him towards looking for a permanent move and were dragging their heels with Celtic even after Ajeti told WHU that he had agreed to join Celtic and it was up to them to sort out a deal. Celtic were looking at a loan with option to buy but agreed to the permanent move for a lesser fee (approx £1 million) than WHU would have received next summer.}

13 Aug 2020 20:24:27
As always ed, love the little bit of extra context and colour you bring

Other than james maclean, what position would you prioritise next and why?

Agree4 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Cheers mate 👍 Following the Bolingoli fiasco we need a new LB in asap and to get him out the door.}

13 Aug 2020 20:36:53
Time will tell but this on the surface looks like a proper bit of good business.
Its not that we haven't spent money but its the calabre of player we where buying.
Klimala and soro. did we actually pay up to 5 million for them. surely not.
Bayo nearly 2 million.
Boli nearly 3 million.
The 2 guys we have bought look first team ready. let's hope for the same for a CH a LB and chuck in a play maker and it could be great window.

Agree1 Disagree0

13 Aug 2020 20:46:24
Interesting point JJ and ed

Ed, do you mean a LB to displace Taylor or a LB understudy

JJ, its frightening eg? 10m on soro, bayo, boli and klimala . in saying that soro and Klimala might just contribute and make us some money long term. attitudanally at least klimala and soro seem motivated and eager to impress.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Taylor is starting to look more settled in the team and has put in some good performances but I don't think he's ready to play at CL level - if we get there.}

13 Aug 2020 21:06:50
The thing is, someone at PH is spotting potential in players. Moussa, Eddy, Boruc, Julie Anne, Frimpong and others who have come in, developed and went for decent money. I've a feeling that Klimala and Ajeti have been brought in to develop together and that Soro will be Brown's replacement. Having a quintet of Brown, McGregor, Soro, Connell and Robertson fighting for two places is going to be interesting to see develop.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Aug 2020 21:08:35
C'mon JJ how can you judge Klimala and Soro and to a certain extent Bayo the first 2 have only had limited game time and looked not too bad. Bayo has just been injury plagued, hopefully he does well out on loan. I"ll give you that clown Bollingoli 🤣.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I'd say Bayo has as much chance of playing for Celtic again as Bolingoli has.}

13 Aug 2020 21:13:59
I would rather we spent 4 or 5 Mill on a player who can/ should improve the first team than sign 5 or 6 1-2 million pound players who will only be back up if they play at all. I don't mind spending 1-2 million on someone young who can improve and will have a long term future and will make us a profit but our priority should always be to improve on what we have at the moment. how much money have wasted on guys like Bolingoli balde bayo and the like. Too much if you ask me. We must have spent close to 15 million over the years on duds when we could have had guys like eddy in and ajeti and even kamala who looks good since he has settled.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Aug 2020 21:15:33
I think there's a player in Bayo Ed👍.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - What you think doesn't count, Stevie. 😋 Haven't we been through this before?}

13 Aug 2020 21:17:15
Exactly otherwise bayo would be a loan . not a loan with option purchase.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Aug 2020 21:21:33
Tbf Steve, I didn't judge the players. the point I was trying to make was that potentially we have spent 8 million on 2 player that are going to play most games.
Compare that to the 10 million on players who maybe one day will contribute something.
All I mean its first team ready players that we need not potential.

Agree1 Disagree0

13 Aug 2020 21:34:19
Don't be redeeculous, there will be no fighting for Browns place, are you insane?, IT IS BROWNS PLACE!

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Aug 2020 21:03:49
I liked what I seen on the video.
Slightly more goals with his right foot but plenty goals with his left foot. Ideal.
I like to see a striker who can deliver anywhere in the box.
He also scored quite a few headers. He looks a good all rounder.

Agree1 Disagree0

13 Aug 2020 21:25:07
Couldn't give a flying f**k if he is 20 stone if he bangs in as many as hooper did.

13 Aug 2020 18:50:27
Few post have been made about this but I'm hearing a season loan for Shane Duffy is on the cards and he's been in contact with Lennon.

Supposedly on 35k a week at Brighton which if true I'm surprised at as it's within our range, he could be the last piece of the jigsaw we desperately need at the back.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

13 Aug 2020 19:59:23
We need a left back as well .

Agree1 Disagree0

13 Aug 2020 17:34:37
Hi ed, I was reading through the thread and noticed a few of your replies to questions about Toney coming in. What's your opinion/ knowledge of if we are going after Toney also? And why you think Griff or eddy wouldn't be leaving if this was to happen? Many thanks.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - If Celtic want so sign Tony then they'll need to stump up the money his club want. I don't see Edouard leaving and LG has got to be in the 'unreliable' bracket just now at least. Also if we're going to play 2 up front we need 4 strikers.}

13 Aug 2020 19:01:14
I thought you had some inside info you were hiding. It would be a shocker if we brought in Ajeti and Toney and not sell. I really can't see it my self.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Bayo left so numbers wise we're exactly where we were at the end of last season.}

13 Aug 2020 19:43:10
Edouard, Ajeti and Klimala as current strikers. Toney in with Griff going as replacemnet + cash.

Griff, Fry and MacAnthony all deal from the same deck of cards.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Aug 2020 17:22:01
ed007. what's the news on Shane Duffy is this a deal that will be going a head and what's your views on him and what he will bring to the squad if he signs. apologise if ye have already been asked mate.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - Duffy wouldn't be my first choice but he's a big no-nonsense CB which is what we're missing in there and he'll do a good job imo. Any loan deal will depend on how much of his wages Brighton are willing to pay and the fact that they would rather sell him.}

13 Aug 2020 18:57:34
defo what wee are missing ed007 some one who does not mess about and any striker who is up for a battle stick duffy on them.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - 👍 And as a supporter he would run through a brick wall for the team. I don't care what anyone says but that's a big factor in Scotland when it comes to a player's commitment, just look at Super Jonny Hayes.}

13 Aug 2020 19:01:48
Who would you like to bring in at CB and LB ed?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I'd like to see Pawel Dawidowicz (Polish lad we've scouted) and/or Victor Nelsson (played against us for Copenhagen last year) signed for CB and James McClean and Hickey for LB.}

13 Aug 2020 19:48:51
Agree ed Duffy would be a right good signing.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - 👍

13 Aug 2020 20:51:12
is that sarcasim about johnny hayes ed007 haha were you not a fan of his.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I did like Super Jonny Hayes mate, he was solid enough player for Scotland, played anywhere that he was asked and he always gave 100%.}

14 Aug 2020 06:45:50
same mate don't know why he was let go its always good to have some one like that in your squad who can play a good few positions and gives there best always even if not the best talented in squad. James Milner is a player like that can play a good few positions and has a great work rate not that I'm saying Johnny is as good as him.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Aug 2020 21:51:12
I agree ED. There was something about his goal against Rangers that felt like it completely summed up his time at Celtic. Came back from the broken leg etc, crazy. He’ll go back up to Aberdeen and run around doing the same job.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I was really surprised that we let him go, as was Hayes himself and Neil Lennon.}

13 Aug 2020 18:18:45
Bolingoli to have retrospective punishment by the SFA tomorrow along with the Aberdeen players that broke the rules I am sure it will be a large punishment to deter others from breaking the rules and I can't blame them as long as they don't go after the clubs also for what some stupid players do. Unless the clubs know and don't take the appropriate action The players should get hammered as much as possible to stop it.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

13 Aug 2020 18:47:10
The aberdeen players like everyone in the country are allowed to enter public houses / clubs . why is there not an outcry / inquiry into everyone else in country who attended a crowded pub / club and didn't/ couldn't stand outside the required 2m . why are the not threatening to close down all the workplaces of these people .

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Players and staff at all clubs were given strict rules & guidelines by the government that they must follow to allow football to return and to continue. They are living from different rules to the general public.}

13 Aug 2020 19:19:54
Ok . didn't realise different rules. more stringent than general public then. imo as pros they shouldn't be out bevvying en masse or otherwise (if on the bevvy ) . but that's another argument.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - From what I've been told the rules are basically if you aren't where the Club is telling you to be like the training centre or at a game you should be at home keeping social distancing.}

13 Aug 2020 19:24:17
DRB, thought same as you a while ago BUT then realise that FOR SENIOR FOOTBALL to resume, these where the rules that were applied. We couldn't play 11 a aside at the moment. In other words, senior footy got special dispensation SUBJECT TO COMPLIANCE.

The clubs players are allowed to operate within a " bio bubble" and that does not mean going to pubs and clubs.

Again, like you, I was confused until this was explianed to me by a health professional working for scot Gov.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Aug 2020 20:05:37
I think we'll be very lucky to get very far without the red card that has been threatened.
It's hard to imagine that no one from the 42 clubs is not going to do something between now and next May.
I accept that these are the conditions laid down for football's return, but the season hasn't been going a fortnight yet we've had these breaches already.
The only question is probably will the season be paused for a month or so or will it be ended completely.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Aug 2020 20:29:14
Gerry . They are young guys for the most so maturity might be an issue for a lot of them . even now as a gentleman of a certain age. mature decisions sometimes aren't made. so yes I'd be very surprised if something doesn't happen again.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Aug 2020 21:18:46
The players who have broken the rules should be sacked simple as that. We are in the middle of a C.V. that hasn't been seen in a 100 yrs this virus is so contagious and deadly players who break the rules should be sacked as they are putting peoples lives at risk.

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Aug 2020 08:46:02
I can definitely see the season being stopped again. Already hearing rumours of other players being up to things they shouldn’t be. None from our team this time thankfully.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Aug 2020 16:18:35
So with Ajeti in does that put a stop on Toney coming in ED007?

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - No.}

13 Aug 2020 17:37:05
In that case maybe Klimala will go on loan?

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Aug 2020 18:09:35
Or Eddy leaving.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Aug 2020 18:29:26
Eddie isn’t leaving, but I don’t think he’s signing that extension either. We lose 10m off his price tag because of contract but we win the ten. Ideally both but you know how it is.

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Aug 2020 14:10:52
Think if anyone leaves it will be Griff, prob the most natural goal scorer we have but is unreliable and certainly has had many chances by the club and continually let's us down . By all accounts it looks like we’re going to play the 352 that worked well for us last season so 4 strikers would be a necessity 👍.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Aug 2020 14:51:17
Seen we are looking at Burke again. I don't get this he wasn't fantastic the last time he was here.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

13 Aug 2020 15:20:15
No chance given the criticism NL got for the way he treated him the last time.

Agree2 Disagree0

13 Aug 2020 15:59:08

Agree1 Disagree0

13 Aug 2020 16:13:51
Burke won't be at Celtic again.

Agree2 Disagree0

13 Aug 2020 16:14:12
My friends young Burke would play a part if he did come back. Enrico sees a lot of potential with Oli.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Aug 2020 16:37:12
Enrico he's full of pace but lacks basic ball control. Very clumsy and not the most technically gifted player you will ever see. He done a job of freshening up the attack when the rat signed him but I'd put every winger we have at the club just now in squad before him.

Agree4 Disagree0

13 Aug 2020 14:18:16
Surely Duffy haven played all his career in the top 2 divisions in England would fancy a go with us. he's a fan which helps imo but the teams mentioned will be fighting relegation. if it's a money thing surely we could come to some agreement if it's a loan we pick up so much. or if permanent he takes a cut but it's made up another way.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

13 Aug 2020 14:37:42
Just have to wait and hope? Whoever we end up with I sincerely hope NL has the foresight to move Ajer to the right of a back three and play to his strengths.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Aug 2020 14:39:10
It's not up to him if there's other club offering serious money and we're not.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Aug 2020 16:01:05
What does that mean. it'll be up to whoever comes in for him and what he's willing to take if he wants to come on less money it will be up to him if we can reach agreement on a fee.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Aug 2020 17:00:51
I think I would rather have Efe Ambrose back at centre half.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Aug 2020 17:19:39
Nae surprise they're then.

13 Aug 2020 17:32:16
You need a jump aindoh.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Aug 2020 14:12:44
With Ajeti signed on a permanent deal we've now spent around 10m in transfers. Appreciate these deals won't be cash up front but it does appear that NL is being backed by the board. All assuming we don't sell a 1st team player. Hopefully a CB and LB next 🙏.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

13 Aug 2020 14:02:41
Hi ED

Have you heard anything in regards to the Burke rumour?
I was surprised when I read that we were interested in him again after what the West Brom chairman said about Lennon when Burke went back there.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - It was WBA's Technical Director Luke Dowling that spoke out about Lennon's treatment of Burke but Burke himself doesn't have a good word to say about Lennon as a coach or a man so I'd be really surprised if there was any truth in the rumour.}

13 Aug 2020 14:40:44
He's not the only one who doesn't care much for Lennon as a man tbf. On the pitch, I wouldn't care to see Burke anywhere near Celtic again.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Aug 2020 15:18:08
Thanks for that Ed.
I didn't think he would come back whilst Lennon was in charge, I did think that Burke was and is a good player when played in his right position.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - If he was being played in the same position and getting regular games he would be a good player.}

13 Aug 2020 15:36:18
Another paid-up member of the NL charm school, I take it?

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Aug 2020 16:02:30
Brendan didn't exactly fancy him and he's a bit of a nomad . not for me.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - It was Rodgers that wanted Burke and the player and WBA were more than happy with what Rodgers promised them.

"We sent Olly to Celtic in good faith with Brendan Rodgers and Lee Congerton, there were some really good people up there that wanted to take Olly and wanted to play him. Once Brendan left to go to Leicester the treatment he got from the manager that’s in place now is something we don’t expect for one of our players.
He’s had mixed messages and that’s why we thought going up to work with Brendan would be a good period for him to come back a better player and to improve on his game. But unfortunately that wasn’t to be. He needs stability."
Dowling added: "They know what’s gone on and Olly certainly knows what’s gone on. It’s just something we’re not happy with at all."

13 Aug 2020 17:20:14
Agree ed but he didn't play him much.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Aug 2020 14:00:20
Rumours that we are still going for Toney. If true do you think Griffiths or Edouard will go Ed? I.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - No.}

13 Aug 2020 11:17:13
Going to play devil's advocate with the Duffy signing. I don't remember him ever really standing out when I've watched him. Is he the answer? Is he better than say Scott McKenna? Or are we happy signing him just because he's Irish?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

13 Aug 2020 12:08:27
With me it's nothing to do with being Irish ian convinced hed be a great signing and he's miles ahead of McKenna and always played at the top level.

Agree1 Disagree0

13 Aug 2020 12:20:25
Old fashioned centre half just what we need right now and would be a threat from set pieces.

Agree1 Disagree0

13 Aug 2020 14:41:36
Jullien does his fare share as well at set-plays and who can forget big Kris's goal at Pittodrie, so goals all through the team then.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Aug 2020 09:24:53
Has Ajeti not been confirmed yet?
It would mean he can’t play on Tuesday because the deadline was last night.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

13 Aug 2020 09:58:15
Buzz bomb he wouldn't be anywhere near fit anyway.

Agree3 Disagree0

13 Aug 2020 10:13:03
Even if he could play buzz, I would imagine he’ll be nowhere near full fitness. he's not had a pre season yet.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Aug 2020 12:01:20
How can he not be fit when his season finished only 2 weeks ago.

Agree1 Disagree0

13 Aug 2020 12:58:52
And also when he's a professional footballer. He should be fit all the time!

4 year deal for 5 million. Sounds good to me.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Aug 2020 08:55:17
We need Lyon not to win the Champions League.
And if Celtic qualify we will be placed in Pot 3
It’s crazy we still need to play 4 qualifiers and yet Celtic have enough co-efficient points for Pot 3.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

13 Aug 2020 10:08:17
Gives us a much better chance to progress but in order to get to the groups we need to strengthen a lot imo. Our side looks weaker than it was last year at this stage and we didn't qualify.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Aug 2020 10:59:45
For once I am not too bothered about Europe, with the amount of catch-up games we may have in the race for title-ten. Plus we still have a Scottish Cup to contest for last season and a 4 x treble.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Aug 2020 11:23:43
Let’s just focus on beating Reykjavik and take it from there.

Agree1 Disagree0

13 Aug 2020 15:52:30
Ice man . you cannot lose with a name like that when we play Reykjavik!

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Aug 2020 07:57:48
Just read that lennon has spoken to Duffy. But I read earlier that he was going to West ham. Conflicting stories. So what's true?

Believable1 Unbelievable0

13 Aug 2020 09:59:11
Brighton would rather he went to CFC and not to a rival.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Aug 2020 12:23:33
That would only be the case if it was a loan surely. ivevread WBA are willing to pay 9mill I think Brighton would go for that.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Aug 2020 07:56:17
When will celtic make an announcement on the Bolingoli affair. I hope its soon and its the sack for putting people at risk. It will send out a strong message that celtic is fully behind the government's plans on C.V. 19.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

13 Aug 2020 08:11:18
Bolingoli's in isolation at the moment and won't be anywhere near PH. Once that's over him and his agent should be summoned to give their side of the story and then a statement would be due some time after that.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Aug 2020 09:13:06
Bolingoli won't be sacked its just nonsense to think he will.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Aug 2020 09:15:00
Whatever his side of the story, I reckon there can be no way back for what he did and I am also sure the player doesn't want to be here either; so it should make an easy conclusion and farewell.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Aug 2020 12:03:48
He might not be sacked but he will never play for us again.
If he isn't sold he will be loaned out.

Agree2 Disagree0

13 Aug 2020 13:43:32
He will be loaned out that's if anybody takes him. I can't see him playing for us again.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

13 Aug 2020 10:16:04
Malika said it was done and dusted mate! Conflicting reports about us being interested. he's no world beater and we’ve got to remember he can’t get a game for Brighton! But I think in our league he would do a job and add some much needed aggression to the defence!
