The new scout knows a player if his twitter account from 2015 is anything to go by. he was watching a 15yo valverde playing in Argentina and he tweeted thw next paul mcstay. the boys at Real Madrid.

Hopefully our board don't tie his hands behind his back by not providing sufficient funds to get the players he identifies.

Everybody could name a player and say he's going to be great or the next whoever. it's the buying of said player that counts . will our board do that .

I have no doubt very many people could name a player and say that he’s going to be great thing, how many of these players actually do become great, and maybe just important how many people given the task of recruiting the best young players is going to be great agrees with the person who scouted the player in first place . If player is of such exceptional talent and ability that many have seen this and reported it, then he will be wanted by very many clubs and it can’t be easy for a club based in a Country with nine months inclement wintry weather every year, not playing in one of the top European Leagues and unfortunately not rated to have an exceptional academy. Unfortunately just like Celtic cannot attract the very best young footballers who are reaching the peak of their ability, Celtic also have great difficulty signing the very best young talent.

Surely our men giving the task of recruitment the next best young thing has only done half the job if he just sends an email to the club highlighting the talented players name . He must also be capable of selling him that well that the Board feel obliged to really go over the top for the player .
Whether we are successful or not we still need to fill the gaps in recruitment team, in fact if we are not successful then we have an even more urgent need . If he is good at his job and Celtic Board certainly think so and fans are not yet questioning that, I can’t see it a stupid appointment. The fact that he and BR have a good relationship, doesn’t mean in the very unlikely situation that BR isn’t our Manager, I am sure the new scout could work equally well with another manager as having a good relationship with BR doesn’t make him exclusive to BR.

Not many Boards rely on fans to identify signings, if they did, they wouldn’t have to employ a team of scouts .
