Lots of people are crying out for a DOF which i think will be our way ahead but what the job entails is i don't know but we definitely need a coach rather than a manager head coach. Coaching the team forward for me is the way to go. So its just down to who wants it if the job is up for grabs come the end of the season.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - I just use DOF to save me typing as there's a load of different job titles that do the same job but have a read at THIS for a broad overview. Just Google (search the internet) for different explanations but it's basically under the same umbrella of having a long term plan that covers every aspect of the footballing department.}

03 Feb 2021 22:06:37
The DOF is definitely the way forward as long as we get the right man, Did we not try something like this when Fergus brought in Jock Brown.
But as you mentioned previously Ed that most big team around Europe have had this model for years.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I never thought of it like that, maybe Jock Brown was an experiment along the DOF lines.}

03 Feb 2021 22:14:16
Jeezo; Jock Brown and Terry Cassidy! I had locked their names deep in ma subconscious ha ha.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Cassidy was nothing but an ignorant pig. And that's all I'm going to say about that.}

03 Feb 2021 21:06:56
Ivan Toney knows how to hit the net. What a finish and great run. He is one we truly messed up on, wanted to come (Peterborough chairman said be would have walked to CP) , within our price range and we just wouldn't pay the going rate. He will go for £35m - £45m within 12 months.

Believable4 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - Another one of Lennon's blunders deciding not to sign Toney. 😉

03 Feb 2021 21:40:10
When was the last time we had a striker who could consistently score goals with his head?
Or even looked a threat in the air.

03 Feb 2021 22:22:02
BB I don't recall any since Henrik.

03 Feb 2021 22:23:27
Carlton Cole the threat was real.

Big rampaging Rasmussen as well.

04 Feb 2021 12:56:09
Still had sutton and hartson after larsson. Big jan vennegoor scored a few did he not. Put the ball on Griffiths head and ge will score. Not physical enough to be a co sistent threat though.

Henrik is only marginally second to Ronaldo for aerial ability.

Ed007 we would be as well doing away with our youth system and going down a similar route to brentford.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - Like most things at the Club, Kev it needs an overhaul. There's no long term planning or planned routes for players to progress to first team. I read (as usual I can't find the fekn thing) one of the youngsters that left saying he had been been told what was going to be happening over the next 2/3 years with him, do we have that kind of thing going on? That's what happens at big clubs, your Ajax's, Barca, Chelsea etc etc have individual plans in place for youngsters to reach the first team if everything goes to plan.}

03 Feb 2021 20:52:31
That’s sad if you guys think that our youth system is belly up. I don’t think we look as if we’ve even got the best youth development system in Scotland.

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - It's definitely something that needs looked at invested in, for me it's one of the most important things at a club.}

03 Feb 2021 21:06:40
As far as I can tell the main problem is that unless a young player is exceptionally talented or something forces the manager to play them, then the opportunities will be few and far between.

The reason I say that is on account of the pressure on a Celtic manager to win every game. If they don't do that they tend not to last long. So put yourself in the manager's shoes, if you have an older pro who is currently better than a youth player, who do you play, knowing that your job could be on the line?

While that pressure remains I don't expect much to change .

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - The coaches need to be improving young players, look at Man Utd in the 90s, look at Ajax etc that are consistently producing top quality youth players.
The decision shouldn't be the manager's that's what I'm saying, Ajax, Chelsea, Man City Liverpool etc etc know what players they expect to be in the first team squad in 2 or 3 years time if everything goes to plan regardless of the manager. Look at AVB with Ntcham.
See for our very first podcast I'll ask Ed001 (maybe Ed002 but I doubt that) to talk about this stuff, he knows all about the way young players careers are planned and can pan out.}

03 Feb 2021 21:15:38
I think Celtic will go on a run win all the rest of the games and Lennon will still be in charge next season at the back of this? What do u ED007 and the rest of use think?

Agree4 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - If Neil Lennon is manager next season, Richy I will give you my house phone number and you can phone me any time to ask me any thing. I'll even give you advice on your love/sex life 😁

03 Feb 2021 21:34:46
I read that Ntcham story was basically false news. The manager was only unhappy that the signing was done from above. They must have a Pierre Lawell on board.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - All Marseilles transfers are done from above and AVB knew that. He was leaving in the summer anyways and as I keep harping on about there needs to be planning that continues regardless of the manager/coach. The so called "big" clubs see the head coach the same way they do players, transient employees that come and go but the long term plan must continue.}

03 Feb 2021 21:38:23
Can I call too? lol😁.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I'll give you my 0898 number... I'm still not sure if you're Kafflic "Jure" or a Proddy "Jure" 😁*

If we look on the bright side it could be a new exciting time for our Club.
The club will be making changes from top to bottom and if we get the right people in, Celtic could be on to a winner.
We all knew Celtic would take a new direction next season, no matter the outcome this season.

I’m looking forward to the challenge because it was too easy at times and our younger fans take the club and success for granted.
I tried to educate my kids that our success wouldn’t last forever.

Now I’m looking forward to the challenge and celebrating every goal with my kids.
The way we did years ago when every goal meant something and was important.
The SFA have got their wish by not installing a FFP system and that was to wipe out the gap.
Now it’s game on and I can’t wait to get back to paradise.

The Celtic Da's might remember a bizarre game which took place 25 years ago today at Celtic Park.
The game finished Celtic 2 Hibs 1.
Hibs were winning at half time but shortly after Hibs keeper Jim Leighton went off to get stitches and Hibs didn't have a sub keeper.
Hibs goal scorer and a future Ex Celtic player Darren Jackson temporarily went in goals.
Darren dropped a cross which was eventually scored by Big Pierre for the equaliser.
Then the drama unfolded.
The referee wouldn't let Leighton back on to the field due to blood still coming from his wound.
But Jackson had already took his goalie top off and no one was between the sticks when the referee started the game back up.
Celtic scored into the empty net but the referee disallowed the goal and brought the play back after it was the referee that started the game in the first place.
In the end up Leighton came back on to the field in time for Paul McStay to score the winner from a screamer from outside the box.
A strange game and I can't believe it was 25 years ago.

Mally it’s been a brilliant 25 years for our club.
We finished off our magnificent stadium.
Celtic stopped 10 in a row.
Celtic managed to bring in top class managers and players.
We got to a European final in Seville.
Celtic Park was made into a fortress and we had one of the best home records in both domestic and European football.
Celtic celebrated our 125th year of unbroken history by beating the best team in the world at Celtic Park.
Celtic had an Invincible season.
Our club went on to win 9 league titles in a row for the second time in our history.
Celtic also won a Quadruple Treble never to be repeated.
ONE CLUB- 4 TREBLES- 12 TROPHIES 🍀.

Buzz Bomb I can’t remember when it was but I remember playing their first incarnation at Celtic Park. I was standing near to the pylon behind the goals at the traditional Celtic end. McStay hit a screamer and it was going right into the postage stamp corner and the wee fat goalie got to it somehow and tipped it over the bar. I think we were 3-0 down in 20 minutes. Do you know when that was?

I was thinking about it when you see the reaction among fans just now. I said to the auld boy that ran out supporters club that it was the worst Celtic team in history. He told me I hadn’t a clue what I was taking about. He’d watched Celtic win either very little or nothing I think for 25 years.

How long did Celtic go without winning a thing Buzz?

Agree2 Disagree0

03 Feb 2021 18:33:10
The game Celtic were 3-0 down in the first 20 odd minutes was our New Year match in 1994.It finished 4-2 to Rangers.
It was bedlam when the 3rd goal went in.
There were 3 different pitch invasions by the Celtic fans.
One of our fans attacked the Rangers goalkeeper when he got off the stretcher being carried by first aid. The fan ended up doing jail time.
I was also in the middle of the Celtic end. There was a few of us between family members, my dads pals and my own pals standing together.
I almost missed the game because I was at a Hogmanay party and I didn’t get in until about 11 in the morning.
My mum woke me about an hour and a half later and I had to hurry to get the supporters bus.
I sobered up after the first 4 minutes when Rangers raced into a 2 goal lead.
Celtic only won the league once in the first 20 years after WW2 but we also won a couple of Scottish and League cups.
I think the longest we went without winning a major trophy was after Celtic beat Rangers 7-1 in the League cup final in 1957.
Celtic didn’t win another trophy until the 1965 Scottish cup final.
That cup win was the start of dominance from Celtic for a number of years.
JFP you’ll remember our 6 year draught from 1989 until 1995.
I was 21 years old before I could properly celebrate Celtic winning a trophy.

Agree2 Disagree0

03 Feb 2021 19:21:30
Buzz thanks very much for that it brought back lots of memories. Yes I remember the drought between 1989 and 1995. All too well. What I remembered most reading your post was that the auld boy and the people I was with that day you wouldn’t have known if we’d been 3-0 down in 20 minutes or 3-0 up after the game. They’d seen it all before and were just Celtic supporters and green and white to the core. I think I’ve reached where they were then and I wasn’t at that age. Thanks very much Buzz. God Bless. ☘️.

see the spfl highlights for the shot cleared of the line they replay it a few times and eddy goal is replayed a few time basically trying to get at the goal was in and eddy was offside.

when the thug el flufallo smashed the dundee utd player in the face with his elbow and did not get a red card card it was not even in the highlights with nearly 7 mins of highlight footage from the spfl. sky sports highlight footage was over 3 mins and showed the incident.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

Ui the foul on eddy in first half is as clear cut as there is. no contact with ball whatsoever but somehow the sly pundits came up with some mince about him going down.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Feb 2021 17:21:35
They have always been very consistent in their biased and slanted reporting against all things Celtic and it's all the more bitter that our going off the rails, coincides with them taking over from BT.

I’ve noticed a massive difference in our results when Taylor plays instead of Laxalt.
Taylor has started 14 league games and Celtic have won 11 games, drawn 2 and only lost one game ( St, Mirren on Saturday) .
Laxalt has started 10 league matches and Celtic have only won 3 of those games.
We have drawn 5 games and lost only 2 matches, both against Sevco.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

03 Feb 2021 14:12:36
Taylor is averaging 2.5 points per league game compared to Laxalt only averaging 1.4 points per league game.

Agree2 Disagree0

03 Feb 2021 14:24:17
What was the point last night of sending Laxalt on, he is getting stripped on the 89th minute and into the 90th when he came on no time to contribute.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Feb 2021 14:30:18
I thought that too, going to guess appearance bonus?

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Feb 2021 14:45:19
Laxalt has been woeful since he arrived. He is not a LB and to be honest I think he is better as a LW.

Back 4 should be Taylor, Ajer, Welsh, Kenny

Oldkilly there might be a clause in Laxalt loan where he has to play a certain amount of games.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Feb 2021 15:10:28
Thats my back 4 . don't understand why Welsh was left out he did OK in sevco game best player against hibs but Lennon dropped him. naybe because of age but it was to the detriment of the team.

Agree1 Disagree0

03 Feb 2021 15:16:47
If Talylor plays against them instead of Laxalt Bitton doesn’t get a red card.

Agree2 Disagree0

03 Feb 2021 15:26:49
once laxalt came in that's when our dreadful run started. everybody was screaming out for a new left back as well when we already had a steady and reliable one there.

Agree2 Disagree0

03 Feb 2021 15:27:12
Fair point JFP.
I've watched replays of the Scott Brown 'elbow' incident and genuinely cannot see anything in that. The Killie player for me, made a meal of it.

03 Feb 2021 15:39:00
Taylor is decent back up but we need better imo definitely best we have at moment . laxalt can go back he ain't the answer.

Agree1 Disagree0

03 Feb 2021 18:21:01
agree he's the better of the two but we need better for next season.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Feb 2021 00:42:52
The Laxalt and Taylor situation is baffling. We brought in Laxalt because Taylor was a good LB who couldn't play LWB. We go with Laxalt at LWB for only a few games then revert to a LB, continuing to play Laxalt who isn't as good at LB but keep Taylor on the bench who suits LB. My mind's boggling just typing it.

Hes quite a character. His knees must be knackered the amount of times he's on them during a match. I like watching Leeds as they never sit back and go for it no matter who they play. Our players would be running to their agents greeting of the workload under a 24/ 7 football man.

Agree1 Disagree0

03 Feb 2021 18:03:53
Ed he sounds a real character you certainly couldn’t question his experience looking at his CV.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - 👍

03 Feb 2021 18:13:17
Ed, do you think he might be looking for a new challenge after this season, possibly in with us lol? I know he normally only sticks around for a couple of years at each team, that would be some coup if we managed to get him!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Nah man but we can dream 😍

03 Feb 2021 21:04:12
Lol, you have probably answered this before but who would you want or think would be a realistic target, if Lennon's leaves in the summer?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - As a DOF I really don't know but I'd like to see Phillip Cocu as head coach with his own choice of assistant and Roy Keane taking up the 3rd assistant position. 😁 Mark Hughes would be an interesting pick too - I see a podcast has been speaking to him and there's a a bit of a buzz around him - but I'd take him over the likes of Howe if I'm honest.
What I want more than anything regardless of personnel is a long term plan to take the Club forward with footballing people making the footballing decisions within the constraints of the budget. There's a lot of money floating about Celtic considering where we are but as I've being saying for years it's not being spent wisely. We need to ignore the transfer fees and concentrate on paying more in wages, we need to invest in scouting and youth development, using the system like we did for Dembele.
I'll shut up now mate, sorry lol.}

03 Feb 2021 21:24:59
No mate your views always welcome. Talking to a big Scottish rugby fan in work and he reckons McKay is a good appointment for us. He will concentrate on the commercial side and bring in as much money as possible, also reckon ticket prices could rise but knows there needs to be a good product on the pitch to justify it. so means money will be spent.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I was answering that last post when you sent this lol I don't know much about McKay and I don't have a "Rugger Guy" on speed dial but from what I've seen he looks like he could be what he needs. Seriously has anyone outside rugby ever heard of him whereas the dug in the street knows Lawwell so here's hoping McKay's not looking to become famous.}

03 Feb 2021 13:14:21
Scott Brown will find out on Thursday if we will receive a retrospective ban for the elbow incident last night.
A 3 man panel of former referees will view video evidence of the incident.
I’m a little surprised it’s going to the panel in the first place.
I’ve not heard anyone say it was a red card from the so called experts from the Sly referee review or from the guys on Sportscene last night.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

03 Feb 2021 14:10:08
Its was nothing if he gets banned it'll be to please the slippy one.

Agree1 Disagree0

03 Feb 2021 14:41:44
The daily Rectum has about 6 or 7 articles about Brown. Their favourite thug gets banned and all you hear is them going on about Brown & that was before last night's game. The guy lives in their heads constantly. In any game Sevco play and if a descion goes against them their first thought is what about Scott Brown. They are obsessed about him.

Agree2 Disagree0

04 Feb 2021 14:25:24
They moan about consistency when Morelos has got away with about 5 or 6 red cards this season and Roofe should've been off last night too. Every other team in the league has players sent off bar them so aye let's have some consistency please. Brown was sent off for an elbow the other week yet Morelos gets away with a worse elbow and a stamp. What planet is Gerrard on deep down he knows he's had the referees in his back pocket.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Feb 2021 12:32:07
good win lads, killie away our bogey team,
nothing clumsy in defence but still brown goes side ways, yes he scored yes he tried hard but he was out the game long spells,
i thought ajeti took his goal well.
i also thought we missed soro, lenny says he gave him a rest to keep his momentum going, fair enough.
our defence seemed better we build on this. looking forward to our next game exact same team but add soro for brown.
id take a strong and powerful brown for the last 20 mins of a game if we need to shore up defence, i keep believing,
now if we could actually be ready for next season with in and outs before new season starts and get a stronger subs bench.

03 Feb 2021 09:03:15
strong performance and good result and you still find the time to moan.

Agree1 Disagree0

03 Feb 2021 09:16:05
The defense (and goalkeeping) have been a major problem all season; he has chopped and changed a zillion times due to injuries and other factors and last night that back four had never played together.
Yes, we were a bit lucky to keep a clean sheet, but the defenders - assisted by a vintage Broony - were excellent to-a-man, as were a good few others out there and it could well have been 9-2.
It has been a horrendous campaign and there's no getting away with all the disappointing aspects that have contributed; so performances and results like that have got to be at least a small comfort?

Agree2 Disagree0

03 Feb 2021 10:20:54
Regardless of any result Lennon has to go, I am delighted we managed to win a game. But let's not let a good result paper over the cracks. There are too many players who don't want to be here now I don't know why that is but I am sure lennon blaming everyone but himself might have something to do with it. (putting tin hat on now) but I am really happy we won o didn't see the game as I was sleeping (night shift) but the wife told me it was a good game and we played well in spurts. Let's hope we can continue this form till the end of the season. But my point still stands we need a new manager with new ideas and a passion for playing attractive free flowing football. Rant over lol.

Agree1 Disagree0

03 Feb 2021 10:41:30
Good result but far too late in season. Welsh should of been starting from debut against sevco at start of season as he is a better option than Biton.

Agree1 Disagree0

03 Feb 2021 11:54:17
Young Welsh had over 90% passing accuracy against Hibs and was then dropped for our next game.
I would keep playing the back 4 that played last night.

03 Feb 2021 12:09:58
We need to realise it was Kilmarnock and they have been terrible too.

Agree3 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - So we get beat by St Mirren and Celtic are rubbish, the manager & players take pelters about not being good enough and not trying but when we win against Kilmarnock and put on a vastly improved performance it's because Killie are rubbish? 🤷‍♂️
We've been dropping points all season to so called terrible teams and when we win and put in maybe our best performance of the season - the best in months anyway - but some people still need to look for negativity to spin.}

03 Feb 2021 12:38:29
Totally agree Ed; we all know where the faults lie and what a cock up we've made of what should have been a 'Banner Season' - however, there are no signs of a management change right this minute, so do we just keep moaning and howling at the moon; or still support the team during this, as there are still games to win and a Cup to play for.
I know we have had a lot to complain about and point fingers, but Sevco-SLY are already ripping us apart this morning (as feckin usual) , disputing goals, penalties and red cards and our own media have had a field-day with our plight, so credit where it's due - even if it's small consolation - it was a good win, after a bad defeat, at a difficult venue, not to mention the dreaded plastic pitch. H H.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - 👍 It's the "It's only Killie" patter, OAB. We can only beat what's in front of us and we haven't been doing that lately. In recent years when we were dominating and playing well we've drawn and lost games up there. It's always a tricky trip for us.
Think how all the Celtic fans that thought we would draw or lose are feeling this morning, they'll either be delighted to be wrong or raging they haven't got anything to moan about - which one do you think it'll be? 😁

03 Feb 2021 12:52:51
Some of the comments on here are getting really boring. It doesn’t look like Lennon is going anywhere before the end of the season and every second comment saying that he has to go will not change that. We know that Broonie is coming to the end of his playing career at Celtic but criticising his every move won’t make him play better or convince Lennon to drop him. Every Celtic fan knows that the defence has been crap this season so why is it necessary to tell each other the same things? It’s time to support the team and see if we can at least secure 2nd place and a shot at Europe again next season because it will be harder to convince a decent manager to come to us if we don’t even have a crack at CL football.

Agree1 Disagree0

03 Feb 2021 13:06:15
Rugby Park has always woeful venue for us. Last night was good confidence builder for team. Keep scoring like that against teams then good chance we will close gap at top.

It was a win but it proves nothing.
Killie are totally dire and managerless and I only hope this doesn't make the board think that Lennon is the man for next season.

With Lennon always saying he going nowhere if he turns it around we win every game and win SC if on does Lennon the stay or go?
