Fraser Forster is on the bench for Southampton again tonight.
He has only played one game for Southampton since 2017.
I doesn’t make sense why he would want to sit on the bench instead of trying to make history with Celtic.

90 thousand good reasons why he picked that option buzz!

Agree2 Disagree0

23 Nov 2020 22:59:41
He'd have had to take a massive wage cut and maybe he could see the writing on the wall too.

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Nov 2020 23:00:52
He probably seen what was happening and decided its not worth the grief, if the club is a basket case, with most people wanting to leave, you have to ask why. The only plausible reason is the manager/ coaches. Lots of the players do well at internationals, but not at club. Hope we can get some good results and performances, but ultimately i can't see lawell sacking NL. I may be wrong tho. Just wanting us to win.

Do you think having him would have made any difference to the mess we're in now?

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Nov 2020 23:14:18
It's pretty obvious buzz.
He 's seen first hand what's going on and thought it's not for him simple or he would have came back.
Barkas what we have seen doesn't look anything special and for 5 million it's not just the rangers that will be laughing their tits off AEK must be having a chuckle too, some fee for an average looking keeper in the current situation.

Still can't get my head round why we went for him.

Agree1 Disagree0

24 Nov 2020 01:53:27
One of barkas first interviews he said he was originally an outfield player and enjoys playing outfield at training. should maybe give him a go at right back or something.

24 Nov 2020 08:10:15
Buckiebhoy &Celticbhoy what exactly did Forster see to make him think how this season was going to be, he was part of a team that were blowing teams away and just won title number 9 and a possible 4th treble in a row he went back to Southampton for the money same as all modern day footballers it’s all about the ridiculous salaries they are on. No one saw how this season would start, to suggest Forster saw it coming is nonsense.

Agree2 Disagree0

24 Nov 2020 08:46:34
He came back to us on loan last season because of lennon.

Agree1 Disagree0

24 Nov 2020 13:09:22
Oldkilly, he was between the sticks when Sevco ran us ragged a few times and we rode our luck. And plenty fans on here saw this coming and FF just might have also. Money no doubt played a part also but if he thought we were on the up I think he would have come.

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Nov 2020 21:25:35
We are all hurting now and the place needs a lift. With NL in charge we are not going to win the league, I think everyone including the players know that. A change might not work either, but it just might, that for me is got to be PL's thinking. NL still doesn't know if he should play 3 or 4 at back and if he goes with 4 he plays a winger at RB. And if we go one up front he plays a penalty box striker. He seems to not be able to see the wood for the trees. Whatever happens its a total rebuild job in the summer. I won't even start on that now.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

23 Nov 2020 22:00:08
Lennon along with Kennedy and Strachan are substandard. They do not have a clue and longer they are here, the worser we will get.

When in doubt 4-4-2 all the way.

Agree1 Disagree0

23 Nov 2020 22:26:19
If Frimpong is a winger he should be playing about 2 divisions down. can't cross can't shoot all he has is pace. Even with that he looks like he's going to trip himself up. Just don't see it. A winger for us needs to be scoring 10-15 and assisting 10-15 every season. I do like him but think full back is the only place he has a chance.

Agree2 Disagree0

24 Nov 2020 00:04:21
No a winger doesn't need to be scoring, he just need to get up the wing and cross the ball into his two frontmen, and rampaging midfielders,

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Nov 2020 06:41:52
I’m surprised he hasn’t tried a 4-4-2 formation similar to when he was our manager first time around.
Brown would need to be dropped for that system to have any chance of working.
Out of our 4 forwards only Edouard can play as a lone striker,
And he showed after the New Year he also plays better with a partner.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Nov 2020 08:14:28
I disagree aindoh. A big part of the last few seasons has been scoring wingers. Sinclair would chip in 20 a season. Forrest around 17 a season. Robert's scored a few too when he was here. We also lack goals from midfield. Other than christie (who is bound to score a few as he has about 10 shots every match) noone else really steps up. McGregor doesn't get forward enough these days and we miss an Armstrong type who can break the lines with rampaging runs. We should be scoring goals from all over the park. We are not and so we are predictable. We got rid of most our wingers and now have an over reliance on our full backs. We also don't score enough from set pieces as Christie can't cross. The only player who can is griff and he's on the bench eating teacakes.

Agree3 Disagree0

23 Nov 2020 19:27:57
NL is living on a game to game basis now.
Not a situation anyone wants.
So the best course of action would be to change manager and hope the damage is not already done.
But some of those players should hang their heads in shame.
The board have questions to ask themselves.
Have we got a good squad that are under performing due to bad coaching and man management.
Or are some players just not good enough or have some simply put the tools away and don't want to be at celtic anymore.
Player power always wins.
So its inevitable NL will loose his job.
The phrase "lost the dressing room" does that also apply to Brown. known for being the gaffer in their maybe he needs to start kicking some arses.
So who do we bring in.
I think Steve Clarke would quickly sort that defence out. He seems to have got the Scotland boys pulling in the same direction.
Probably wouldn't happen now.

Believable0 Unbelievable1

23 Nov 2020 19:41:43
JJ I’ve been banging the WGS drum but would be delighted with Steve Clarke. Unsure he’d come though. If you remember he stated after the sectarian abuse he received after Kilmarnock played the KKK that he now remembered why he left Scotland. He could undoubtedly get us over the line and already has the players respect.

Agree1 Disagree0

23 Nov 2020 20:11:55
Clarke won’t leave Scotland when he’s just qualified for the Euros. That job is bigger than anything celtic can bring right now considering Scotland’s circumstances.

Celtic are the only fault here. Lawwell signing Lennon was the issue. If you remember back ED had spelled this exact scenario out. Standards have dropped at Celtic, the players clearly don’t have belief in that management team.

There’s now rumours of a MON and Roy Keane dream team.

Agree1 Disagree1

23 Nov 2020 20:55:01
We've got a great squad of players. For whatever reason they aren't playing to anywhere near the level they're capable of. That is down to the manager I'm afraid. A change in personnel is vital.

I'm not a fan of players/ staff returning but MON was a fantastic motivator first time round. I wouldn't be against that team coming in - even if only to get us 10 in a row.

This is the last dance. Huge clear out of players next summer then see where we are

24 Nov 2020 12:17:23
I've long been a defender of NL but I'll concede now I don't see a way out of this for him. Perfromances have been poor since the start of season and there is no hint that he has any clue how to change it.

Personally I blame the senior players in the team, guys like Brown, Calmac, Eddy - the levels of the last few years have simply not been there. We've been unfortunate with injuries to Forrest and Julien (both huge losses) but we should have enough to combat that.

We can't defend, at all. And we're so predictable going forward. We are deviod of ideas and our players look fed up. Things have to change, however the big question is who do we turn to? There is no obvious candidate.

If we are all honest Lennon and Brown should have been stood down at the end of last season, the best foreign coach our money would stretch to should have been brought in - take all emotion out of it like we did in 97 with Jansen coming in and Burns/ McStay leavig the club.

Agree0 Disagree0

Here is my tuppence worth.
Do Rangers have better players than us?
Well that's debateable and we could argue all day on that one but they are certainly comparable.
If we were to chose a striker in the league most even sevconians would pick eddy.
A midfielder? again Mcgregor would be most peoples pick.
Defender? Again Ajer would be the choice of most.
Now some sevconians would argue 1 or 2 of those but they are a better TEAM not better individually.
Now if your spine is good u have a good base to work on.
My point here is its not the talent players have its the talent the coaches have or rather they don't have.
Our team looks disjointed and unbalanced, they look like they are winging it when out there.
Thats down to coaching or lack of, Sparta, Ferencvaros Rangers etc found it easy to play against us.
Why?
Simple we play the same way week in week out, regardless of system its attack attack attack.
If we struggle to score pour more players forward.
Add to that slow defenders high up and your in real trouble.
Why are we never compact and invite the opposition on?
Look at the pace we have up front why not utilise it like liverpool do.
Our press usually consists of Christie and others watching him.
Set pieces? We got a great taker in LG but he not fit, Really? He can't play 30-40 mins etc and build fitness that way.
We have a lethal partership up front in LG and Eddy but not played together why not?
We have young legs in midfield but don't play them. Why not?
There is a team there of that there is no doubt, is it good enough to claw it back? Well you never know but what i do know the manager is not good enough to do it he has proved that all season with turgid performances, even those we win.
Lets get someone in who can coach and organise us and make us difficult to beat.
If your difficult to beat you use the talent further up the field to win you games.
Simple really.
As for my choice well its me ofcourse lol.
Couldnt do any worse.
If we want an organiser then Oneil or strachan till end of season could be good choices.
Long term Eddie Howe would be good.

Agree2 Disagree0

23 Nov 2020 20:04:30
Its hard to disagree with any of that, and other points made elsewhere, regarding our player quality, versus output on the park. it is just wrong.

It can be argued that DUff inspired our post Christmas renaissance, and those foreign player with us saw him as the man who helped them progress.
Gone. and not replaced with any profile.

Something has changed, and went badly badly wrong during the summer.

A patch work quilt of signing who couldn't get a game elsewhere, almost to a man. and a lot of cash. Ajeti plus klimala = eddy investment!

Who was monitoring Griff during lockdown these guys are tracked all the time, if not why not.

At falls on NL and great servants should know when to go.

If we were going to change manager before Christmas it would have happened during the international break as other have said.

Lennon isn't happy, he doesn't appear to look after himself either.

The league would be miracle without another collapse ( unlikely, they have progressed as we have gone backwards. beeping in the parking bay where RDelia left us.

Our full backs have been down graded to a 3m signing from Kilmarnock! , a journey man on loan, and a young player learning his trade.

We will have a sorry from the board at the end of May and not before.

Why would they spend now on what, a miracle!

I am praying for several!

Quite a selective post. We would bite their hand off for McGregor, Barasic and this season Tavernier. Going back the last 9 years I'd have been lucky to select any of their squad for our bench.

I get your point though. They are slick and drilled and all pulling in the same direction. We are not. Lennon has come out with every excuse under the sun, he cannot admit this is the problem.

I expect a heavy defeat mid week and a new man in by this time next week.

The more I think about Eddie Howe the more I think no. I don't think he has done anything to merit being manager of our club.

And that would change the situation with Lenny? Our season is slipping away and the only way to fix it is to make a change. Lenny is the most obvious starting place. Eddy banging in a hat trick and beating Sparta would only paper over the cracks. I hope your right incidentally but Lenny still needs to go now, gone too far, played poorly since last season towards the end. Glad it ended the way it did as we could have thrown things away then!

I think between now and our next league game would be a good time for a new manager to take over the reigns.
Celtic have potentially 8 domestic games before we visit Ibrox in the New Year.
It's a good run of fixtures with the potential of 6 home games, a cup final at Hampden and also an away game at Hamilton.
Victories in those games keeps alive the chance for Celtic to win 5 Trebles In A Row.
Celtic have only played 5 home games in the league this season.
Although our home record hasn't been good in Europe, we have an impressive home record in domestic football.
Apart from the 2 Derby defeats, Celtic haven't dropped any other points since the 2018/ 19 season at home.
Celtic have also won all our home domestic cup games.
There's plenty for a new manager to work with and bringing someone new in now would be an ideal time for him to hit the ground running.

Obviously there have been too many games this season where we have been disappointed and frustrated by what we've seen and it's clear several players are unhappy or unsettled and moral is very low.
We are stuck with this squad until January; we can't go on like this for another two months, so the obvious remedy is managerial change. However, it has to be spot-on, not a quick and cheap fix or another scenario like when Dalglish took over from Barnes and implosion.

Seen that Gordon strachans name has now been thrown into the mix as a sort of "save our season" to replace Lennon. Supposedly he's still in good contact with lawwell and Desmond and having his son on the coaching team seems to be where the link is coming from.

Not sure how to feel about it all to be honest, when Lennons been out slating his team then I think it's a clear sign he's lost the dressing room, god I really hope we turn this season around.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

23 Nov 2020 15:23:37
He'd do if he was taking over immediately until a permanent manager was appointed. I've a bad feeling Lennon is here to stay though. There hasn't even been the dreaded vote of confidence.

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Nov 2020 15:35:37
I think WGS could be a good hand on Neils shoulder as a short term solution. He’s a motivator and can set up a team and played and managed at the highest level and is more than fit for the Steven Gerard fan club aka the MSSM.

His reference to ‘we’ in a any comment relating to Celtic doesn’t do any harm either. It’s worth a punt for me. It’s potentiality too risky bringing in a new manager at this stage yet Neil evidently needs support. WGS is an old head and could provide that support to steady the ship.

It’s a good all round solution for me. The first thing that needs done is call out those who don’t want to be here and hunt them. No matter who they are. ‘The best thing about becoming the Celtic manager was that I got to know Tommy Burns as a friend’. WGS just might add that wee bit of stability and grey hair that’s needed at the moment.

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Nov 2020 15:46:07
I said 'never-go-back', when NL was appointed as it rarely works out and I would say the same for WGS - although with Lawell, it's always the easier (cheaper) option and it wouldn't surprise me.
These players need a 'new broom' to sweep away cobwebs, clean up a few attitudes and brush-up on fitness, tactics and confidence.

Lot's of post's want NL out, but not a lot of us know who we want to replace him. TBH I don't think it needs to be top drawer. Just an organiser.

Facts-

We have best squad in league.
We have our best 2 strikers on the bench.
We have energetic midfielders but rely on a 35 year old.
We have an experienced international RB on the bench and persist with a boy who only started playing first team football a short time ago.
We are playing converted midfielders at centre half instead of putting a proper Centre half pairing together in a formation that suits.

Surely someone can come in and put a settled team out with players in proper positions in a short space of time and get this season kick started.

I agree Mally. Been arguing with my mates most the season. Nothing particularly against Bitton, he's a decent utility player. But we'll struggle to win trophies with him as a regular CB. Yes Jullien has been injured and Duffy has basically sh*t his knickers it seems coming to his boyhood club but as a club we've done something wrong when Bitton and Rogic, who were lucky to make the bench a couple seasons ago are now both regulars.

I MUST need my HEAD looking at

I guess most of you have had to put up with various gloating sevvies recently (humility is something they do not understand)
My two ex bears and The Suit have been in full "superiority mode" and their confidence in a first title in 10 years knows no bounds, so much so they have "enticed" me with a bet, they are willing to offer me 3/ 1 on Celtic winning 10 in a row that shows me how arrogant they are. They also know I have money set aside for my bets and want to goad me into this bet, although usually I do not take much goading, so I have set limit of £100 each for this bet meaning I risk £300 to win £600 plus get my original £300 back.
Luckily lately I am ahead with my bookmakers accounts thanks to my football penalty bets and the new Editor ED046 hitting a winning streak over the weekend which I availed myself of, I am not proud, I will accept good advice anywhere lol
In the past my ex bears own arrogance has won me lots of money so I am hoping this bet bursts their bubble again.

PS ED007 do not worry I have already set aside monies for your Food Bank appeal as normal this year, yes I need all the GOOD KARMA I can muster lol.

It’s worth a bet at those odds.
£300 @ 3/ 1 will get you a profit of £900
I put an accumulator on last night with Coral
Celtic to win the league @ 5/ 2
Liverpool @ 7/ 5
Bayern Munich CL @ 11/ 4
And finally France to win the Euros @ 11/ 2
Accumulator pays over 200/ 1.

It's not easy mid season to get a good manager with a club coukd we tempt somebody like Marco Rose, De Zerbi or Seoane from Young Boys? I'm not sure, then again shy bairns get nowt. What we can't be doing is PL just turningto somebody he already knows. Compensate Dundee and give wee Chesney the job till the season ends. He will at least get the best out of a good squad of players underperforming. Give him Director of Football position after this season and find a coach with good training methods tactics and fresh approach moving forward.

My friends Enrico only thinking of ways to help current situation so he doesn't want lambasted for thinking.

Could we try and get Martin O'Neill back in as some sort of director of football to help Lennon out?

How about asking Big Johan Mjallby back into the coaching team maybe help out with coaching for the defenders?

I don't know my friends I am just starting to worry you know?

Enrico does not see Lenny walking away abs unless Dermot has an idea of replacing him with good quality manager we might lose more ground.

Sorry Enrico but I disagree

For a start a manager with the experience Lennon has, should at this stage in his career not need a father figure to hold his hand and pick tactics for him.

Martin O'Neil? No way! He has not done anything of note since Aston Villa.

Johan Mjalby? I think you are trying to relive nostalgia and its not way forward. We need a total overhaul and fresh ideas.

I'm not trying to be over critical mate.

Phil my friend Enrico understands and can see your point of view.

It was just a thought my friend. I am like you I want this addressed as quickly as possible but do not know what the best option would be to get things back on track.

The club must take whatever action necessary to get the team back performing again.

While I agree we need total shake up I don't think that can be done mis season unless we are accepting league is over.
Safe steady pair of hands, organise defence, revitalise dressing room and push on for rest of season.
Line up long term man with his own coaching team to come in for summer and see over a massive revamp of the squad.

hope lennon is replaced but i've no idea who we can get at this stage, i fear lennon will see out the season and then call it a day and pl replaces him with kennedy and brown becomes a coach.

Does anyone think lennons ego would allow someone to come in and help

If derby are close to appointing rafa dd should be trying to get him in.

Two wins in our last seven games is unheard of in recent Celtic history. We only scored 15, while conceded 17 goals in those games with only the one clean sheet against Aberdeen in the Cup semi.
If those stats don't have DD and his lackey Lawell as concerned as the rest of us and fail to act NOW, we are in serious trouble.
A serious defense of our dominant, consecutive title reign, needs immediate improvement and a winning consistency that seems a million miles away at present.
I can't see NL quitting; as even after the Ferencvaros shambles and the 'unhappy players' disclosure, he had to backtrack and sheepishly amend his press statement.
The non-contested Rangers defeat was another indication of problems in the ranks and lack of fight, still he persevered and plodded-on; then after the home thrashing by a weak Sparta Prague side, many thought would have been the last straw. A good win at Motherwell should have been a shot-in-the-arm, but a game later and the signs of a dramatic recovery evaporated into thin air.
I mentioned after the Sparta game that if supporters had been present during this painful slump there would have been a reaction; but in the safety of silent stands the manager and more importantly the team are detached and insular.
The club needs to act now - From top to bottom or too many people will be remembered for all the wrong reasons instead of Legends.

It’s actually 2 wins from 8 games since our injury time goals against St. Johnstone.
I feared Lenny wasn’t getting away with his CL exit rant.
The fact he was forced to back down made it worse for him.
Apart from big Fraser, Celtic have a better squad than last season.
Lenny’s been given the tools but he’s struggled to recapture last seasons form.
He needs to do the right thing now and step aside before it’s too late.

They can’t make the excuse it’s the ‘S’ word anymore.
I mentioned the ‘tribute act’ and it still got changed to Rangers.
I think it’s a manual act.

its already too late. The league is gone. We all know the snowball effect. It starts small, grows in size gains momentum and speed and becomes unstoppable. NL is a great ambassador for the club - he deserves all the credit both as player and manager - but his time has come. The players are not motivated and that starts at the top with the manager. The team are in freefall will be out of Europe by Thursday night and after January 2nd if not before maybe third in the league. We can only help slow the decline not prevent it because that takes time. PL has to bring in a new manager today (tomorrow is too late) - the new manager has to sideline all the players - including the expensive high earners - who have given up trying and start from scratch.

OK, so
Lennon has won 5 of the current 9 titles.

Lennon stepped in when the rat jumped ship and he completed the Treble.

Lennon has won the League and League cup last season and we are on the verge of winning the Scottish cup and an historic Quadruple Treble.

Players who were heroes last season are not even getting the basics right (can't cross decent balls, second to the ball after free kicks etc., can't get back to defend. )

A few bad results and it's sack the manager!

We have blatant bias being shown by refs (and wee Frimpong is getting hacked down at least once every game)

evco are on a good run in fairness to them.
We have 2 games in hand

wee bit of reality needed sometimes.
The players need to take a long hard look in the mirror as THEY are not doing their job on the park.
(I agree that NL is staying too loyal to certain players but the ones he is keeping in are playing just as bad)

TinyTim, it's a bit worse than 'a few bad results'.
Let's stop blaming refs for our shocking performances.
The Sevs are going to be out of sight soon if we don't take drastic action.
The players are delivering what they are delivering because the manager doesn't know how to change it. HH.

Lennon won first 3 with no completion after rangers imploded, he won number 4 when Rodgers left with us miles in front.
He inherited what Rodgers had created and managed to win the 5th title after they fell to pieces in second half of season.
Anyone with half a football brain would have won those titles, even Delia won 2!
This is his first real challenge and it's fell to pieces.
Time to go.

Tiny Tim I’ve got to pick u up on a few things. this is much much worse than a few bad results! The writing has been on the wall since the ferencvaros game! Absolutely embarrassing against the currant buns! And just horrific against Sparta Prague! Struggled in practically every game this season! Late goals against st Johnstone dundee Utd and scraped victory against st Mirren! Much much worse than a few bad results mate! And as for the refereeing bias, please don’t go down that road for gods sake! It’s not the refs fault we are 11 points behind mate! The part I will agree with is the players, like I’ve said to them! Some of them have nothing short of a disgrace at times this season! Ideas way above their station some of them! But at the end of the day the manager will take the fall, and the time for that has come!

Agreed Danny, it's nowhere near a few bad games. We have all mentioned things like;-

* shocking individual/ team performances
* dressing room unrest
* players wanting to leave
* team selections
* team formations
* bizzarre substitutions
* Lenny's post match interviews

The list goes on and on so far this season but one stat that is killing us right now;-

* 13 goals conceded in 13 games. Last season we conceded 19 in 30 games.

Just watching Bains interview on CelticTV, Fair play to him calling the guys out for putting zero effort in chasing after the penalty, I feel you can sense a bit of friction in the team from his words.
Might not be just the Manager that's lost the dressing room, looks like a clash between players too.
And as we go through the season I think of this more and more. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result. Over to you DD.

Just have to look at the body language and lack of team spirit on the pitch even after we score and you sense the 'bad vibes' throughout.
Recent interviews with Duffy, Cal-Mac, Broony and now Bain also reflect the players disharmony and even friction within.
Compare it to the mood and enthusiasm of the Celtic contingents involvement in the Scotland squad and it's obvious we need a change.
