Ed are you aware of what the situation is with Ajeti. There's so many conflicting reports. Some are saying a deal was agreed, others are saying he's gone cold on the idea and another club have asked him to stall on the move to Celtic and there are also reports that the deal was never that far down the line and is still likely to go ahead. What can you tell us?

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - West Ham are keen to move Ajeti on and would rather sell but there are potential loan options from Celtic and Benevento in Italy. WBA have supposedly registered their interest in taking the player permanently which would suit West Ham in getting a fee for him.}

29 Jul 2020 23:09:36
The young black guy from Dublin, looks like he has a talent for scoring goals, why do we have to take people on loan instead of giving our youth players a chance in the first team, all those old sayings like cometh the hour, cometh the man, are old sayings because they have been proved right over hundreds of years, forget the loan players give the young team a chance! .

I get your point but not sure he was that good on loan to Dunfermline last season. Think we should be giving these guys a chance in cups. We already have two unproven strikers in the first team squad. If Afolabi was good enough I think he would be around it. Another loan would probably suit better maybe to a lower premier league club this time see if he can get a game there first.

I'm with you aindoh i hope we play the young lads more this season.

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Jul 2020 12:39:35
Make sure we win the league this season then play and develop the youngsters next season

I take any announcement of Barkas will take place tomorrow still plenty of time to register for Sunday.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

29 Jul 2020 23:25:09
Surely Lennon will let him settle in and get a full weeks training at least before playing. Bain will likely start Sunday.

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Jul 2020 00:45:45
Forster went straight in last season so I don't see why not.

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Jul 2020 08:49:52
Foster had played for us before. Maybe Barkas will need a couple of days to get settled.

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Jul 2020 12:36:49
Barkas will need to wait and prove himself in training, bain should start at the weekend.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - No way Barkas will play at the weekend and considering the next game is away to Kilmarnock on THAT pitch I don't think we've any chance of seeing him until the Aberdeen game at the earliest. Let Bain play against Accies, Killie and St Mirren giving Barkas time to get settled in at the Club and in his new country and getting to know his team mates & coaches.}

30 Jul 2020 22:17:24
Bain might prove himself to be a better keeper. He's played 2nd or 3rd choice for a while he might just have had the kick up the @rse he needs to kick on.

Ed what type of wage is eddy on?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - I don't know exactly, Kev but he'll be nowhere near the top bracket like Brown, it'll be somewhere in the £15k - £20k a week mark although when he signed a lot of people said it was "only" £12k a week.
The new offer supposedly doubled his pay so that would move him into the top earning bracket without breaking the strict wage structure.}

29 Jul 2020 17:24:54
I thought it was between 12-15.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Jul 2020 18:09:10
What is the top wage bracket for the players? £35k?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Yes mate but there won't be many up near that.}

29 Jul 2020 18:46:43
Will broony be in that bracket ed.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Yes mate. As captain it'll have been in Brown's contract that he would be on par with the highest paid player at the Club - which would have been Sinclair - but one of the posters (Kev83?) said he had heard or read that Brown had asked for that to be dropped from his last extension.}

29 Jul 2020 18:57:40
Any idea what Sevco's is? Will it be decimal?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - There'll be a few big earners over there. The likes of McGregor, Kent, Defoe and Morelos will all be on over £20k a week and maybe a couple of them will be nearer the £30k mark.}

29 Jul 2020 19:42:53
Cheers Ed.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - 👍

29 Jul 2020 20:13:21
Were rangers not paying half of Defoe's 120k?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I never believed that, that would account for about 10% of their total annual wage bill.}

29 Jul 2020 20:21:42
What’s your take on the Toney situation or is there no chance we will go for him Ed007.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Brentford, Nottingham Forest and RB Salzburg are all willing to pay more for Toney than we are.}

29 Jul 2020 22:17:33
Salzburg would be high up there I would think is that figure 12m they could afford that. definitely couldn’t see a going that far for him?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - There's no chance we can match the money on offer to his club or the player.}

30 Jul 2020 08:13:52
Ye Ed it was definitely dropped from his last extension.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Jul 2020 22:52:35
So Toney a pipe dream is he Evan that good never seen him I just hope we can do good business this window get what we need in.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Reading between the lines, Rich it looks to me like Tonev might fancy the move up here but we aren't getting near the money Peterborough are looking for. If there are clubs out there bidding near the asking price why are both McAnthony and Fry publicly trying to goad Celtic into upping their offer?
The statements to the media coming out of Peterborough will not sit well with Lawwell though as that isn't the way he likes to do business and could see us leaving them to it.}

30 Jul 2020 16:54:57
Celtic seem to be in the market for a striker but with the price of Toney being too much and this boy fae West Ham no coming will we go in again for another or leave it to see what’s going to happen with what we have?

This has the feel of being the best transfer window ever.
Barkas, Requelme, Tonev, Turnbull and a quality central defender would be a fantastic year.

Alexander? Just to wind up Shay Logan.

If we get three or four players in the door before Sunday; offload Bayo, Boli and Rogic; but keep hold of MgGregor, Ajer, Ntcham and Eddy, I will be absolutely delighted.

Agree2 Disagree0

29 Jul 2020 16:52:38
And when Sevco have spent all their money - a couple of key signings in the Winter window just get it right up them.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Jul 2020 17:54:54
Sadly I think we could see boli and rogi doing a Marv. Bayo might be a loan never to be seen again. See big balde is in ho chi Minh city.

29 Jul 2020 14:39:47
Jan Vertonghen free agent. Ed would his wage be to high for us?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - I'd take him in a minute, Pud but yeah his wage demands will be well out of our reach.}

29 Jul 2020 15:07:33
He would be some signing. Awe well.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Jul 2020 16:41:50
Do you know if there's genuine interest in the boy McKenzie from the MLS Ed? From what I've seen/ read, and if reports are to be believed he would cost circa 1m, he could be a good squad player/ understudy to Ajer and Jullien.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Mark McKenzie has been scouted so there is genuine interest.}

29 Jul 2020 17:00:36
Could we not pay a decent signing on fee to him as we would get him for free? Sure nobody what moan and paying £5m to have that quality at the club.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Jul 2020 17:32:46
my thinking to turner a good lump sum. is vertonghen a left sided centre back as well.

"If Ajeti doesn't instantly accept a move to Celtic without considering any other option he may have then f**k him, we don't want him anyway"

Is a f***ing mental take btw.

Seen this tweet and couldn't agree more our fan base is a joke during these times. Now I see why you hate it so much ED!

I've seen some people on Twitter loving the fact Ajeti was signing last night and now they're saying "oh well doesn't matter he's Sh**e anyway". Crazy times.

Believable4 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - 😂😁 It's not just Celtic fans that do it, the fickleness in supporters during the transfer windows is even worse than during matches.}

29 Jul 2020 13:06:14
Unfortunately with constant social media updates, agent 'leaks', fake news and our own press mischief making, it makes these windows even more unbearably frustrating. Remember the days when you discovered we had signed a player by seeing it on the back of the morning paper?
Oh wait a minute, I just got a flashback of Maurice Johnston holding up a Celtic shirt on the back of the Daily Rag in 1989 ha ha ha.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Jul 2020 13:26:38
The point is if he's going to stall and drag this out waiting for a club from the big leagues why wait move on to the next target . that's my take.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Jul 2020 14:04:44
Aye Mally that’s good and well and I assume the club are doing that. But, there’s no point crying over the situation non stop like some people on social media. We'll get a striker in, I think most people think they know a whole lot about the game and signings but in reality they don’t know how complicated it can be!

For instance, Ajeti has been uprooted from Switzerland, then to London, then a quick move up to Glasgow in Scotland. It might solely come down to the fact he’s settled in London and may opt for a closer club to that city. He’s a human after all.

Agree1 Disagree0

29 Jul 2020 14:10:26
Wee Gordon put it perfectly

“If people don’t want to come here, win titles and play with good players at the highest level in Europe in front of 60,000 fans with a chance of becoming a legendary figure that’s fine by me, If you can get that elsewhere, then fair enough. ”.

Agree2 Disagree0

29 Jul 2020 14:28:45
The thing is Kev, that’s all good and well but there’s more factors than that at hand sadly.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Jul 2020 15:01:40
Don't read social media never have. makes life easier.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Jul 2020 15:14:31
@ kenlike, its modern day mentality, it does my head in too.
Every defeat is over exaggerated and every win is over hyped. We can win 5-0 one week and be world beaters then 3 days later draw a game and we're utter s**** calling to get rid of the manager, sack the board etc. Another example that does my box in is when Champions League comes round. I call it the Prostitution League, we get handed a load of cash but be prepared to take a shafting, that's the reality of it.
Some fans go over the top with criticism when we take a severe beaten by the TV money/ Sugar daddy funded mega rich clubs who probably have a player on the bench that cost more than our first X1.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Jul 2020 15:40:17
Nailed it Stevie mate. Usual from the usual, I like a little European run and we showed we are pretty solid at Europa League level in terms of last seasons results. I’m not sure if it was luck or not but we were pretty formidable. Apart from the fact we just couldn’t finish our games against Copenhagen. We should’ve went through that night at Celtic Park. Copenhagen were very average.

29 Jul 2020 12:10:42
If Peterborough want double figures for toney it's a non starter on to the next target. and if rumours are to be believed this ajeti boy is holding out for another club ad bin him as well. edfy griff and paddy get another in and move bayo on.

29 Jul 2020 10:24:01
When it comes to bringing n a new striker and think that it’s sad we do not have someone good enough waiting at the youth set up challenging to make the step up.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

29 Jul 2020 11:01:16
It's something scotland as a whole hasn't produced in years . griff possibly the only one of any note . there are a few promising in youth but age and inexperience against them just now.

29 Jul 2020 11:03:48

Eddy griff klimala bayo ajeti toney
And sebastian anderson.

Rich T, how about the American striker ( apologies as his name escapes me) from the youth team, he looked a handful and a real prospect when I saw him play in a few televised games a couple a seasons ago including Glasgow cup final, not heard how he has progressed.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Jul 2020 12:34:27
Cameron harper18.dont think he's a out and out striker though.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Jul 2020 12:43:25
I think Cameron Harper will be a handful for defenders in the Development League as he offers something a bit different. He's direct and likes to run with the ball and get others to link up with him. He's not the tallest but knows where the goal is.

Ther's also Armstrong Okoflex, Jonathan Afolabi and Jack Aitchison but don't see much in them to worry the current first team striking department.
