I see that Ralston's contract has been extended for a year. He is problabybon about 8000 a week, We could have signed O'Donnell on a 2 year deal for free and about 10.000 a week . I know who i would rather have signed.

1.) 21 Jun 2021 11:43:55
Both aren't good enough.

2.) 21 Jun 2021 12:08:47
Well that's not good news. No harm to the lad, he has a great attitude but if we want to have a defence worthy of that name, then he just doesn't fit that. Tells me we aren't serious about recruiting what we actually need. Still nobody in is also a worry. Typical us, Take a feckin age to do anything.

3.) 21 Jun 2021 12:09:21
The Celtic we all want to see must aim for higher quality than this.

4.) 21 Jun 2021 12:12:25
@jonace where are you getting these wages from? Personally I doubt ralston is on 8k and o'donnell was a free and signed for motherwell do you think he's getting anywhere near 10k. I'm pretty sure someone at celtic negotiates wages for killie/ motherwell players etc based on previous then add some but not ridiculous amounts like your suggesting.

5.) 21 Jun 2021 12:26:42
There is no way that Ralston is on £8k a week, you will be lucky if he is on half that.
We probably took the extra years option as he is the only RB we have at the club, We did sign the young boy front Man Utd but he was sent straight out on loan.
If we let Ralston walk we would need to sign 2 RB's but this way we only need 1 1st choice pick with Ralston and the young boy as back.

6.) 21 Jun 2021 13:01:22
What s the point of back up if they aren't anywhere near good enough? And Ralston isn't. Injuries, suspensions and we are back to a defence that is an utter fecking joke. Again, zero ambition and lack of understanding of what a good player looks like. Doesn't fill me with confidence at all. In fact, the opposite.

7.) 21 Jun 2021 14:18:30
Who cares how much he's on?

8.) 21 Jun 2021 15:20:28
Can't see Ralston being on anything close to 8k a week.

9.) 21 Jun 2021 15:52:34
I wish celtic fans would stop mentioning odonnell. He is no where near the level we want to be.

10.) 21 Jun 2021 16:02:45
Magic no one said he was good enough but the new manager needs bodies in the squad right now. What's the harm in triggering the extension in his contract right now and if Ange decides he isn't going to make it we can get a bit of money for him even if it's £200k instead of him leaving on a free.

11.) 21 Jun 2021 18:31:28
Ralston shouldn't have been given a new contract. He's not even good enough to warm the bench. I'm quite disappointed with the waste of club resources.

12.) 21 Jun 2021 18:53:48
I doubt Turnbull signed for wages that high. O'Donnell is gash, Agreed not as bad as Ralston but don't want him anywhere near Celtic.

07 Jun 2020 07:56:00
Who thinks we should consider Vaclav Hladky if we can't get Fraser Foster signed up very soon.

jonace

1.) 07 Jun 2020 09:58:31
Decent keeper but don't think he is good enough to be our number 1 and we already have bain as back up.

2.) 07 Jun 2020 13:28:13
He's a half decent keeper but only as a back up, I'm not really that keen on Bain but he signed a 4 year deal last year so he'll be staying put, we really need to push the boat out and get forster in on loan for another year at the very least, that's the best signing we can make this season.

27 Aug 2019 17:56:38
I see we are reported as being interested in the Salzberg LB Gideon Mensah was scouted by Barcelona. looks very fast on utube but not the greatest testament of a players ability. However this would really stuff it to kilmarnock having bought a replacement.

jonace

1.) 27 Aug 2019 18:08:04
I don't care about stuffing it to killie. I care about getting the right player for our team.
This boy I know nothing about except he's very inexperienced and looks like he'd be a back up at this moment.
He also would have to do some serious travelling when it comes to international Football, so with all that in mind I'd rather Taylor.

2.) 27 Aug 2019 18:53:20
Much prefer Taylor. He knows the league and has proven to be a solid LB and now a international. The last thing we need is another young guy to go into the development side. We need players that can go into the first team.

3.) 27 Aug 2019 18:56:55
If Meling isn't coming then we should be getting the Taylor deal done pronto and stop feckin about over a few quid. Does our club never learn? HH.

4.) 27 Aug 2019 19:05:18
That'll teach Killie to ask for decent money for their prized asset!

5.) 27 Aug 2019 19:24:59
Looks like Gideon Mensah is already on loan at Sturm Graz .

6.) 27 Aug 2019 19:30:30
Use a fringe player plus cash and just get the feckin player Lawell!

7.) 27 Aug 2019 19:37:40
@Drewzybhoy he was on loan at Sturm Graz for the second half of last season.

8.) 27 Aug 2019 19:58:33
Seems he's tried that OAB and they said no.

9.) 27 Aug 2019 20:33:03
I read on another site, it’s a loan deal . This window is getting worse, signing players no one has heard from, and now they are loan deals. What is going on at our club? It’s embarrassing .
We have been fed so much crap this window it’s unbelievable. Lies after lies
Players will be in before champions league qualifiers : never materialised
We have a plan if kt is sold : nothing materialised
We will wait and use the English market once it’s shut : only Fraser on loan
We will have two players in by today : nothing again.
And on and on we go, meanwhile the window is closing on us. We all know the people will get Ryan kent and it will be another boost to their morale, while we sell off or let our defence leave without replacing them properly . Look to push out one of our biggest goal threats . If we sign only loans, Peter makes his profit, I wish he would be asked to leave, get someone in who puts the team first before profits and hotel ideas . We are a football club, where fans travel far and wide to support . Myself included, I’m really not bothered what hotel I stay at.

10.) 27 Aug 2019 20:57:32
I agree with all of that Quinn bar PL to go. What we need is a football man making these decisions. The major shareholders also need to know that running a football club, that so many put their heart and soul (and hard earned money) into, is different from running any other business where the aim is just to make a profit.

Kev if the reports are correct that we've offered 1m when they only asked for 3m then I'd hardly say we have tried.

11.) 27 Aug 2019 21:04:24
It truly is a complete joke, Thursday will be difficult and we may sneak through but I'm not confident for Sunday. I honestly think this could be a disaster of a week, the moaning will start at 2pm on Sunday, and quite rightly so, the board are a disgrace.

12.) 27 Aug 2019 21:14:57
If pl would allow a football person to come in beside him and he stayed on the business side that would be good. I just don’t think he would hand over the reins that easy, also his bonus etc is linked to the football business making a profit . It would only be arguments all the time as the football side would be asking for better players, Peter would be wanting to keep costs down . Not sure how it would work.

13.) 27 Aug 2019 21:47:03
How should killie not ask for top dollar pot kettle on here sometimes.

14.) 27 Aug 2019 21:49:45
I've officially stopped even looking now at who we're looking at they're just names plucked out the air and nothing seems to be happening it's becoming very frustrating.

15.) 27 Aug 2019 22:00:48
total shambles again, this board can`t do transfers, laughing stock again, when will the fans wake up to this nonsense ever transfer window, Manager making a complete fool of himself again, PL has to go .

16.) 27 Aug 2019 22:43:52
Somebody reads something in the paper and gets all upset about it, because it's in the paper it must be true, it's amazing the power and influence of the media, the papers, TV, radio, now we have the internet aswell, just look at what Orson Welles did in the fifties with the Martian invasion, with the old fashioned radio, now rumours and speculation fly across Twitter and WhatsApp and chatrooms, and before you know it people are having stand up arguments about a pack of nonsense, calm down and carry on, wait untill the transfer window is closed then start arguing.

17.) 28 Aug 2019 00:27:01
I think they will wheel turnbull out on the last day and that will be our wack.

18.) 28 Aug 2019 06:35:21
Bang on Mally. For weeks this page was talking about how we won't let Tierney go on the cheap because he plays in Scotland. Which I agree with. Then the club identify his replacement and won't stump up an EIGHTH of the fee. It makes a laughing stock of the club.

19.) 28 Aug 2019 06:37:21
Aindoh, I don’t always agree with your posts but your spot on the money for me here. Panic and frenzy overload all based upon fake news and social media.

20.) 28 Aug 2019 07:17:18
I feel strongly that we need another few players in during this window but I think everyone needs to calm down until it 100% does not happen. There has been no promises giving by Lennon, he’s just openly told us what he wants and what we are looking for. Everything else is speculation until we get it done. To say that it’s no good signing get players that no one has knowing about on loan is irrelevant when you consider the fact that no one knew about players like wanyama etc. I would like to see a left back in for this game at the weekend but all be can do is hope. If we sign 6 players by Sunday there will still be people on here skating Lennon, the board and the players for not being good enough.

21.) 28 Aug 2019 09:29:15
I don’t see how it was fake news, the comments were said by the manager. After every euro game he came out and said he wanted players in but never got them. He said he or they had a contingency plan if kt left, it would seem playing calmac there was the plan. I know people can go overboard but I can’t see how people don’t realise we go through this scenario every transfer window. Why is it that we have to sit back and relax and see what happens at the end o of the window. My trust in the board to deliver has gone unfortunately .

22.) 28 Aug 2019 10:19:08
That’s Rosenberg out, get Meling.

21 Jun 2019 19:46:10
NL saying in his interveiw players definatley leaving. Hope it is not Tierney, Macgregor, Or Forrest.

jonace

1.) 21 Jun 2019 20:04:52
This is the worry - especially with The Leicester Louse keeping tabs on our players. It wouldn't surprise me if the Turnbull deal isn't a sweetener for some bad news on the horizon.
It's also more likely that we will only get decent bids for decent players and the surplus fringe players will be harder to shift?
All we can hope for is that the Board uses any considerable income to invest in real quality and not supplement/ settle for bargains.
We cannot afford to drop our standards, or lose the initiative.

2.) 21 Jun 2019 21:25:37
I fully believe that our "contacting" Turnbulls people last night was because of the below. I was discussing a couple of points with a pal of mine last night and today about the whole situation.

1. we were custard pied by other targets after telling him to jog on.
2. we needed that type of player because we have already accepted an offer from the RAT for Big Tam Rogic.

I then heard that some unknown Journo down south has now stated that a 17.5mil bid will be coming in from RAT City for Calmac. It all seems to be falling into place for Pedro.

Build a half decent team that can do damage with adequate additions (additions we all have been screaming out to get for 3 windows if not more. RB and CB's) and our team could be dismanteled to fill it with Kilmarnock and Motherwell players.

What if the Kieran bids are to good to refuse, also what if the Eddy bids are to good to refuse (not from the fans stand point, we are meaningless to the club) as i appears now. Its ok Pedro will sanction moves for Taylor and Brophy from Killie. Not to mention the still more than possible move for O'connel to fill lustigs boots.

I couldn't care less if they are signing people, they take in 10 players a season and still haven't won a cup. We are being taken for granted and have been for far to long. The fans deserve a better product on the pitch.

We are 3 or 4 very good signings in key areas away from being an excellent football team. This top guys have to be kept otherwise the back lash that will come if we fail to get 9 far less 10 will be on a massive scale.

3.) 21 Jun 2019 21:39:48
Love big tam to bits buts he's no where near fit enough to play in epl he's not even fit enough to play in spl half the time.

4.) 21 Jun 2019 22:05:51
God I hope Rodgers has had a bid for the myth that is rogic.

5.) 21 Jun 2019 22:45:24
Now could be the time to cash in on Rogic. has been a good player for us but we're just not getting value for him over the past 18 months.

I expect a goalie to leave and maybe 2 or 3 other midfielders.

I will end up on that Kerrydale Meltdowns Twitter account if Tierney, McGregor or Forrest go.

6.) 22 Jun 2019 02:08:04
Why do people always think the worst? He could of meant fringe players.

7.) 22 Jun 2019 02:55:17
I Would be amazed if Celtic were willing to let McGregor or Forrest go or if the players themselves would want to go. Ya maybe it's rogic they are after which l won't mind too much. Good player but injury prone and a drifts in and out of games at times.

8.) 22 Jun 2019 05:08:45
Would happily let rogic go for the right money but we must keep mcgregor and tierney. The club should issue a statement saying under no circumstances this season will tierney or mcgregor be going anywhere. Let yer Leicester, Arsenal, Napoli etc know they can’t just turn up here thinking the can take our best players on the cheap. I mean £15 million for tierney. are arsenal having a laugh? That only buys his right leg.

9.) 22 Jun 2019 12:27:02
What would people realistically expect for Rogic? £6m? As he isn't prolific enough in a poor league and his fitness is horrendous. Bit like McCourt, pleasing on the eye bags of ability but the fitness of a pub league player.

10.) 22 Jun 2019 16:48:21
if we can see rogic only gives us a bit of a season so can everyone else and that includes the rat so why would they be interested in paying good money for him, its most likely calmac as i seem to remember the rat saying that calmac had everything to be a top player and any team would want him.

10 Jan 2019 17:27:34
Reports coming out of America that we have signed Gutman and Manny Perez more young players coming in. I do not have a problem with youth as long as there are quality and stay a good few years.

jonace

1.) 10 Jan 2019 23:12:02
Manny perez following celtic twitter now, could be nothing or could mean he's signed. Any chance at all you think hell be a first team player this season Ed, if signed?

{Ed007's Note - He might get a run out against a Dundee or Accies or depending on who we get in the cup but I can't see him being a regular starter.}

Good morning everybody first post in a while.
I was thinking of the squad and the future and my thoughts turned to the bench.
For today I would play
Hart, Ralston, Carter-Vickers Starfelt, Bolingoli, Macgregor, Rogic, Turnbull Kyoto, Giakoumalis and Jota.
Resting Abada and Montgomery completely from the squad they are still young and could do with a break.
I would also try to arrange a couple of bounce games on Tuesday and friday afternoon and play the following
Bain, Juranovic, Julian, if fit Welsh, Scales, Soro, McCarthy, Henderson, Forrest, Ajeti and Johnston. With options of Urhoghide and Shaw. This would give players a chance to stake a claim to play or find out if they are up to the challenge.

jonace

1.) 23 Oct 2021 13:03:06
The squad is starting to look good.
Forrest will start contact training on Monday and Jullien isn’t expected for another 4 weeks.

18 Sep 2021 10:35:41
I am loving the style of foorball we are playing at the moment and it is remembered that this is the beginnings of a new team.
Having said all that the next 6/ 7 weeks will determine Ange reign, we have a number of difficult games coming in europe at home which we must win and these are followed by hard games away at Aberdeen Motherwell and Hibs.
Should we win all of these and the easier ones in between then we are definatly title contenders.

jonace

1.) 18 Sep 2021 11:06:53
You could almost hand pick who we would get away after European games it is the same every year. Sevco, Aberdeen and Hibs all away after Europe, chance is a funny thing isn't it.

2.) 18 Sep 2021 11:19:27
I would add tomorrow to that, very tough, our record there is shocking.

3.) 18 Sep 2021 11:36:48
No our record there under lennon is shocking, lennons celtic teams have never beaten livi at livi's ground.

4.) 18 Sep 2021 12:35:05
Lads let's judge Ange not through Lennon's eyes but through this small progress we have made very quickly. Tomorrow we are going to have to break down another stubborn defence let's see what Ange cam do with his team. Over the next few weeks we will have most of our players ready and up to scratch. let's see how we cope tomorrow let progress keep going.

5.) 18 Sep 2021 13:11:11
The old 'random' fixture computer has always had the Celtic default setting. That's why the nine-in-a-row and the Invincible season, should be up there with the clubs highest accolades.

6.) 18 Sep 2021 13:32:59
@OAB, they are for me mate as I've now had the pleasure of living through our two 9 in a rows.

7.) 18 Sep 2021 21:48:16
Everybody is pumping the ss so no excuses.

8.) 18 Sep 2021 22:01:03
OAB I read your post and had a good think about the invincible season for the first time in a while, how £uckin good was that, what an achievement and we definitely wernt given the credit it really deserves, to go unbeaten in all 3 domestic competitions is just incredible, I mean a bad refereeing descion, a bad bounce or a mistake coukd lose you a cup tie or a league game a suppose . I genuinely believe that won’t be done again in my lifetime ??.

27 Aug 2021 04:13:35
There are some tough draws in the europa league this saeson. We will need a lot of luck to get through.
That defence will never do, Scales is a good strong tall LB but where is the 6' 6" left sided defender we have been crying out for years. Starfelt is another poor addition who is scouting these players and need need a good defence coach.

jonace

1.) 27 Aug 2021 04:37:10
Don't know why everyone is having a pop at Starfelt!
The boy misjudged a kick tonight and unfortunately it bounced off his back leg that led to an OG, after that he was outstanding especially in the second half.
I wonder if everyone who claims he is a poor addition said they same about VVD, Larsson, Petrov and Mjallby after there first month in the team?

2.) 27 Aug 2021 05:53:36
FS johnbhoy get real mate he's been poor what are people seeing it's a different game from me.

3.) 27 Aug 2021 06:03:42
Starfelt has had some iffy moments but he's still in his settling in period and hopefully gets into a rythm soon. Welsh made a mistake, and at that age will continue to but the more exposure he gets the more it will shape him. In saying that I know he's not everybody's cup of tea but I can't wait for Jullien to get back. Now we've got Europa guaranteed I'd like another CB added to that pool.

4.) 27 Aug 2021 06:17:12
How much do you need to spend to buy a player that doesn't make mistakes

Even Kyogo misses sitters and nobody roasts him for that, we can't buy players that don't make mistakes.

5.) 27 Aug 2021 13:33:15
I don't see why Welsh is getting stick for the goal you could see he was gesticulating to Hart to clear his lines and he stood there like a rabbit in the headlights.

24 Aug 2021 22:02:43
Does anyone else think it is a real pity we did not appoint Postecoglou last October.
We would have been much closer in the league and he would have had two transfer windows to get his players in and more time to prepare preseason.

jonace

1.) 24 Aug 2021 23:19:30
Not necessarily, he’s come in with a clean slate, the fans backing him and ability to bring in some players…

Any earlier under the circumstances of last season and with that squad and IMO your looking at a totally different scenario.

2.) 24 Aug 2021 23:43:54
Jonace I agree, but to be honest I reckon any interm manager would of reduced points deficit.

3.) 24 Aug 2021 23:44:46
It would never have happened as it was Dom that identified Ange.
But let's just say Ange had came in last October he would have been associated with losing the 10 as some still believed that Lennon was the man for the job.
He would have also had to deal with Lawwell so there is no guarantee that Ange would have got the players he wanted in the winter transfer window.
Coming in when he did and after the Howe carry on was probably the best thing that could have happened to him as the supporters expectations were that low and people were saying that it could take a season before we see a big difference, I think the way he has turned the team and some players around has probably left the majority of the supporters stunned.

4.) 25 Aug 2021 00:53:36
Jon I thought Ange was recommended by the Man City lad who was touted for the DOF role?

5.) 25 Aug 2021 02:08:53
I know Dom has mentioned a few times that he knew of Ange from spending time in Japan and Australia and Ange was his man.
I hadn't heard of any Man City guy who recommended him although I may be wrong.

6.) 25 Aug 2021 07:05:48
Let's not look back at what my daughter calls the dark times and let's be thankful we are in the light now.

22 Aug 2021 18:14:02
i would like any opinions on Ajeti, he appeared to be working harder and embracing the Ange playing style,
I would give him some game time midweek and sunday just to find out if this is new Ajeti aka Ralston or not. If it is we would not need to spend money elsewhere.

jonace

1.) 22 Aug 2021 18:28:53
He looked trimmer for certain.

2.) 22 Aug 2021 18:48:52
Don't think midweek is a time to just give him game time we'll have to be at it or we'll be out.

3.) 22 Aug 2021 19:00:34
Ajeti must’ve been disappointed that he only got 8 minutes yesterday, especially when the game was over at half time and the transfer speculation surrounding Edouard.

4.) 22 Aug 2021 19:35:01
Ajeti is a hard one to call.
There were many rumours about his attitude from last season and someone referenced the fact that he isn't a nice guy in general. I don't know him so I can't comment on that one.
It seemed like he was in good shape and he appeared to be keen but his game time has been very limited for some reason. Obviously as fans we're not on the training ground every day and Ange seems like a decent guy so he must have his own reasons for not making him a main focus of the team. HH.

5.) 22 Aug 2021 21:28:47
Ajeti seems to struggle to play as the sole striker. He just doesn't have enough about him to lead The line at our club. To even contemplate giving him a run out mid week as if the tie is a banker is ludicrous! The tie is not over by any means.

6.) 22 Aug 2021 22:00:27
You're right SOS, the tie is far from over. Given our propensity to concede early goals in Europe it could very quickly become a nervous game.
Having said that, our attacking prowess is very good at the moment and if we get the first goal then it will be very difficult for Alkmaar to recover as they'll need four to win it. HH.

7.) 23 Aug 2021 00:17:16
I think we really need to score the first goal in midweek and I can see that happening I think if they get the first goal the crowd and their spirits will get a huge lift. So we need to go out all guns blazing and get that first goal.

8.) 23 Aug 2021 09:20:28
it's down to Ajeti to show he can be part of the squad. He did well coming on against St Mirren. We need options and if he wants to be one, then show us and Ange that. Simple.

Any players we get in January should be loans. This will allow any new manager to completely rebuild the squad in the summer.
The players who want to leave will be gone as hopefully will be the board and PL.
We can start from scratch and begin to rebuild the team into a 10 in a row side.

I like Carter-Vickers but he is not top class. Neither he not Starfelt are good enough for Champions league. We need to find another Van Dyke or settle for cheaper. Soutar may not be any better or worse than Carter-Vickers but he is free and 6'4" compared to 5' 11" and we desperately need a left sided defender.

James Forrest was the same at his age . It took time for his {james} body to develop. It could be the same with Dembele.

We should respect anyones relegious beliefs no matter where they come from. We are an completly open club who encompasses anyone who has the ability to improve our club.
We should leave the bigotry to those morons from other teams.

Two goals today for Ajeti hopefully he can come good. Some players looked like they haven;t played in a while so 90 mins football will help. Still look a little short on squad numbers wonder if the failure to sign McCann cost MacKay his job. You can hardly say that the players signed are top quality yet. Kyoko and Giakomakis are Ande signings and Scales a DD choice. The others have either excess to reqirements at there club or questionable selections. Abada was a young player who has come good and Juranovisc was not first choice. Also I hope he has negotiated a good sell on cluse in Edaourd deal.
