Been reading a few Celtic bloggers site to try and find out what Celtic need to do to qualify for CL
First I read if we finish 3rd we go down into Conference League
For THIS season only the champions and team finishing 2nd go into ONE CL playoff hope that is true exception being Sevco who go straight into groups because of their better coefficient, again only this season
Next season Scotland only get ONE CL spot so Celtic MUST finish in top two this time around.
{Ed007's Note - If Olympiacos win the Greek league, TRIFC will lose their automatic qualification spot if they win the SPFL.}
24 Feb 2026 18:46:56
Next season remains the same as it was this season but then the big changes happen the following season.
( 2027/ 28 season )
In 2027 the Scottish Champions will need to win 3 CL Qualifiers.
They have the benefit of a couple of parachutes but there’s still the chance of losing all 3 European Qualifiers and be out of Europe Altogether.
Scottish Runners-up will go into the Conference League and will need to win 3 Qualifiers just to get into the Group Stages.
2027 Scottish Cup Winners go into the Europa League but need to win 4 Qualifiers but have one Conference League parachutes.
So basically need to win at least 3 Qualifiers to get into the Groups.
3rd place is the same as Runners-Up and will need to win all 3 Conference League Qualifiers.
In 2027 Scotland will lose the European place for the club finishing 4th in our league.
Premiership clubs will go back to giving us extra away Stands they took of us because they were getting loads of cash on the back of Celtic being in the CL Groups in recent seasons.
If Celtic need to win 3 Qualifiers just to get into the Conference League it will be on Dermot Desmond’s head.
24 Feb 2026 19:21:57
Even though Sevco have flopped in Europe this season the fates will transpire to get them into that CL spot and by fates I mean our Board and the SFA - alias the 5-way-agreement.

The St. Mirren player has had his Red Card rescinded after his appeal today.
The Trusty verdict hasn’t been announced yet.
Hopefully Trusty gets the same outcome.
24 Feb 2026 18:17:51
Trusty lost his appeal.
24 Feb 2026 18:18:25
Trusty had his appeal Dismissed.
24 Feb 2026 19:52:29
That's a disgrace what about pedaling the guy that's illegally grabbing his shirt it's a stitch up.
24 Feb 2026 16:34:14
Edd, a think were on the same opinion about Askou mate thinking not good enough for us, with me it was the fact a thot he was a rookie and has won nothing but av just read on our site he's won 4 trophies, is this been when he's been the manager or assistant at these teams mate.
{Ed007's Note - Askou won The Double as manager of HB Torshavn in The Faroe Islands back in 2020.}
24 Feb 2026 17:38:35
It's a gamble going for him imo . sitting 4th his team are doing ok ish couple of decent players . one off season? But out of both cup competitions . if our board hadn't disastourasly fked up this season and backed br didn't bring in nancy and then not backed mon who dragged us back into contention .
would anyone even notice what motherwell are doing under him?
{Ed007's Note - Askou has done absolutely nothing to even be considered for the Celtic job.}
24 Feb 2026 18:23:57
Before being considered for the Celtic managers job it should be a pre-requisite that the candidates can demonstrate success at two different clubs - stakes not least financial are too high to take a chance on an up and coming manager. We’ve had recent experience of how that can work out. The only way of proving you can do it is evidencing that you’ve done it.
24 Feb 2026 18:37:05
Seems to be Askou or Martinez as front runners so far but with this board God knows who end up with.
24 Feb 2026 18:24:21
Who would you feel should be considered for the job Ed?
I can’t see any manager worth his salt being interested.
Feel like Askou is our level now. Not helped with the circus at boardroom level.
{Ed007's Note - If Askou is our level we might as well chuck it just now and close the tops tiers again.
I'd go for McKenna.}
24 Feb 2026 22:16:57
Do you think McKenna would come to the SPL though?
{Ed007's Note - If he takes Ipswich up he's facing a season of fighting a - losing imo - relegation battle, that would be 2 relegations on his CV.
Say he goes to the likes of Man Utd or Spurs and only lasts a year to 18 months if that, he wouldn't be considered for a "top" job for a while at least and just end up on the mid-Pub League conveyor belt of managers that always get a job but do hee-haw - come to Celtic, show he can handle the pressure of a big job, winning things, gaining Euro experience and build his reputation further before taking on a top PL job where he can have more influence.
A future role for MON at Celtic could help convince McKenna.}
24 Feb 2026 13:11:21
I've uploaded the latest from the Fans Collective to that section of the forum with the minutes from the meeting with Brian Wilson and Co. 🍀.
24 Feb 2026 14:09:23
What a fudge. More meetings about meetings about meetings ad infinitum. That was a bit like going to see a medical consultant only to be seen by the cleaner ( no disrespect to cleaners ) who said they’d pass on the message.
They have no intention of changing anything until they have absolutely no choice. A desperate dictatorship clinging to power at any cost. Time to ramp it up with the protests.
24 Feb 2026 16:04:21
They're stalling so the GB don't get in before the end of the session, putting themselves before results.
24 Feb 2026 16:41:44
If this season ends in disaster then DD should cash in his shares because the Celtic fans will never ever forgive him.
He had the power to help us when we needed it the most but he decided to play God and personally sabotage our season instead and that’s unforgivable.
24 Feb 2026 17:00:32
So really no further forward another month here another month there, its a joke.
24 Feb 2026 18:48:32
Surely Buzz we will never forgive him even if we do win. Complete and utter charlatan.
24 Feb 2026 19:06:07
True Foxi 👍.
24 Feb 2026 19:30:26
We should be hounding DD out of the club. Force him into a sale. Protest outside his other businesses. Make the world an ugly place for DD until he sells up. Ramp up the 'anti establishment' movement on DD and his family.
25 Feb 2026 00:52:43
Celtic_al85 DD is such an arrogant pr*** he’d just dig his heels in deeper in spite because he doesn’t give 2 f**** about Celtic anymore, it’s just his way of saying I’m the boss so shut up n pay your money.
24 Feb 2026 13:08:02
Ange played a weakened side in our defeat away to Bodo Glimt on this date 4 years ago.
Celtic then came back and we didn’t create much in a poor goalless Draw at Easter Road.
A couple of hours later Sevco’s had the chance to cut the gap to only 1 point but they blew a 2-0 halftime lead against Motherwell in a 2-2 Draw to keep the gap at 3 points.
That Easter Road Draw was the only points Celtic dropped over a period of 15 league games.
Our only other defeat on this date was 120 years ago in a Scottish Cup tie against Hearts.
24 Feb 2026 12:30:37
Well now we know that the Sfa, Spfl and Willie collum are in cahoots so the game is now fully loaded against us. Especially after these 2 at Tynecastle. As usual the Celtic board remain silent. They will allow sevco everything and end any title hopes we have and then Hearts will feel the full Force of this corruption till they are out of it.
And if you think Trusty will win his appeal forget it . Collum only a puppet .
24 Feb 2026 17:18:23
This will be the 6th Glasgow Derby since last March and it will be Steven McLean’s 4th appointment in those games.
2 referee appointments and now his second VAR appointment.
Steven McLean got his first Glasgow Derby appointment in 2016 and then he was made to wait until 2023 for his next Glasgow Derby referee appointment.
Being made to wait 7 years for his next experience tells its own story and now all of a sudden he’s been given 4 appointments in only 6 games.
24 Feb 2026 11:03:20
John Beaton is our referee at Ibrox on Sunday with Steven McLean doing VAR.
The Tynecastle double act have been swapped round this time for the Ibrox match.
Beaton has had a nightmare these last few weeks but yet he gets rewarded with another big game.
24 Feb 2026 13:28:38
Buzzbomb,
I'm laughing to myself just reading those names who'll be 'in charge' of Sunday's game - wow.
That double act tells me that, barring a miracle, we're never leaving Govan with three points, likely we'll leave with nothing more than missiles being fired at our own coaching staff and supporters.
If I fancied a flutter, a red card or a penalty (or both) awarded against us looks odds on.
24 Feb 2026 14:26:07
Beaton was the referee in our 3-3 Draw at Ibrox a couple of years ago.
Celtic started off on the front foot and we had a brilliant first half.
Celtic should’ve been more than 2-0 up at halftime but Beaton used all his experience to keep Sevco in the game.
In the first 30 minutes the foul count was 9-0 to Celtic but yet we were playing them off the park.
Beaton also booked all 3 Celtic players playing on the right side in that first half.
Beaton will see how the match is playing out,
If it’s a tight match look out for the amount of cheap free kicks he gives Sevco in our half to allow to put multiple balls into our box.
Normally I would be wanting our players to get stuck in because it’s a Derby match but that all changes when Beaton is the referee because only one team is allowed to get stuck in and they don’t wear the Hoops.
24 Feb 2026 16:01:18
We will need to convert whatever chances we create. Go for the jugular.
I’d like to see 2 up top for this game personally.
24 Feb 2026 16:05:34
Wonder if McLeans bro will be at the game maybe after he's done coaching the sevco youths.
24 Feb 2026 10:59:03
They've turned to the brothers for Sunday, Beaton the bigot gets the game with McLean on var, Spencer doing a line, be as well just giving them the 3 points the now.
24 Feb 2026 09:57:21
Is Arthur not in the euro squad, anybody.
24 Feb 2026 10:44:44
I don’t think so,
maybe the 2 strikers and the winger were the 3 added.
24 Feb 2026 13:30:25
We're effectively out of Europe anyway Mally.
We need Arthur for the remaining league games.
24 Feb 2026 16:46:25
Ped it was more to get him game time before Sunday.
24 Feb 2026 09:11:42
Celtic appeal Trusty red card
We all KNOW verdict already
APPEAL DENIED (especially when Sevco next game)
24 Feb 2026 09:56:11
Tim it was denied before they got rge letter, and how many games this season has sevco faced 10 men.
24 Feb 2026 09:58:57
Could be because it’s a red card all.
24 Feb 2026 10:02:34
I would like to see St. Mirren appealing their Red Card.
I don’t think Trusty gets Sent Off on Sunday if that shocking Red Card isn’t given on the Saturday night.
24 Feb 2026 10:12:13
I was reading Trusty will miss our next 3 league games if he doesn’t win his appeal.
Ibrox, Pittodrie and then home to Motherwell.
2 games for violent conduct and then 1 extra match due it being his 2nd Red Card this season.
Silly boy for giving them the option.
24 Feb 2026 10:18:11
Thank god, don't want him anywhere near the team.
24 Feb 2026 10:56:46
Mally you can tell this is the business end of the league title.
Sevco have faced 10 men in 3 of their last 4 league games.
Celtic have been reduced to 10 men twice in our last 5 league games.
Celtic have only faced 10 men once in the league this season from 27 games and that was at home to Aberdeen.
24 Feb 2026 13:36:13
You're points in the above posts are spot on Buzzbomb, IMO.
Previously, when we as a club, had our act together none of this would have had an impact, unfortunately, as corrupt and bigoted as it clearly is, the powers that be, are seizing the very opportunity that our 'CEO' MN and the Celtic board have presented them with.
It reminds me of Steve Buschemi's character in Con Air when he's sitting on the plane and says the line, 'define irony'.
24 Feb 2026 09:08:06
Know lot of people had personal dislike of John Reid but at least he had a spine and didn’t put up with any crap unlike the gutless board we have now.
24 Feb 2026 10:05:20
Dermot Desmond has always pulled their strings including John Reid’s.
The last second recruitment signings after CL Qualifiers happened under his watch also.
24 Feb 2026 12:35:08
Think the strings must be broken then because nobody is doing a damn thing.
24 Feb 2026 12:39:51
The less said about the war criminal Reid the better.
24 Feb 2026 13:33:10
I’m more interested in the battle we have now, and no one has our back!
