Guys I have bad memories of that area as in the 1960's my father was in the old Lennox Castle Hospital with Diptheria (in those days a potentially serious illness) It was the dead of winter and my mum and I had to take a total of SIX buses 3 each way to visit him.
I was about 7 or so and found the hospital very dark and menacing
Luckily he survived but it left a toll on his health for years after that.

I reckon this places were very grim back then Timalloy, so not surprised that memory stick with you. Glad he recovered though. ?.

Wee Joeseph
Anywhere I am in the world I always know I’m hame when I see the Campsies.
When ah was a wee laddie ma granny used to say ‘I hate the Campsie’s John’. We’d a great view of Meikle Bin from the village I came from. I remember asking her why? She said ‘Because they looked like that when a was a wee lassie - now I’m an old wummin - but they still look the same’. I’m there myself now.
I visit a convent Schoenstatt just past Lennoxtown don't know if you know it - a beautiful place - I have a caravan in Fintry on the other side of the Campsies. Scenery is fantastic Joe.
Our Campsie Bhoy is a local - clues in the name.

Wee Joe what Celtic have done with the training ground is amazing
JFP I always loved trekking in the Campsies, as you say lovely scenery
But to this day I cannot get image of that hospital and it's dark corridors out of my mind.

Timalloy
I have similar memories of Bellsdyke which was at Larbert with a close family member. When the answer to mental health problems in his case was electric shock treatment. Like you I can see it still and It’s was only a wee laddie. Horrendous.
Tim, but we don’t want to be looking back eh? - we’re no going that way! ?☘️.

Me and ma good lady are married 38 years . 42 years ago when we were ‘winching ‘ I rolled a car onto its roof at Carron Bridge up the Tak me Doon Road… and reported it at the old Kilsyth police station as it was blocking the road - I used to run whin dust out of Riskend Quarry and get weighed at the old weigh bridge ….
