Ed 007 with Rangers on the verge of spending the guts of 20m on 2 players, with the chance of maybe getting put out of Europe on Thursday, are you hearing anything about possibly incoming for celtic.
I guess the point I'm trying to make is we can't let the club use the old CL exit be an excuse for not ploughing on with much needed signings.

Using social media to gauge opinions is obviously fraught with danger but I’m kind of agreeing with the sentiment I’m seeing. the squad is abysmal and weaker than before and I’m seeing more of the support turning against the management team.
For the avoidance of doubt… I didn’t want Mon or the rest back this season, I thank them for squeezing us through last season but to employ the guy and his team instead of actually carrying out a proper recruitment drive to secure the best option is one of the many reasons I f***ing hate this board.
I don’t think our window is done but you can bet your ass it will be loan central / lazy recruitment options from England once their window closes. anyone who buys the Europa league package needs their heads examined. because let’s be honest… this squad probably isn’t even of Europa league quality… and looking at the pots. their are some tasty teams in their that will tear our backline to pieces!
27 Aug 2026 04:23:29
Who appointed MON?
I reckon they were going to appoint Robbie Keane until the fan backlash and then panicked and appointed MON. Even, if that was not the case, his appointment showed that there is a lack of long term planning, a lack of strategy and a lack of forsesight.
26 Aug 2026 21:09:25
Does any other manager survive that result.
26 Aug 2026 21:39:16
Martin gave us the opportunity in the first place and guaranteed European Group football after Christmas.
26 Aug 2026 22:48:03
Given the choice I would have sacked him but it was never going to happen.
27 Aug 2026 07:50:46
In reality MON should never have been given the job again but know why he was given it. We wouldn't accept Keane.
A club our size should have been able to attract a decent Manager.
We have been praising MON for rescuing our season and for getting the board to spend money and now, admittedly after a disastrous result, he has to go. We cannot have it both ways.
That result was always on the cards after the first game imo.
We were 3 up I know but in all honesty they had demonstrated how dangerous they could be, and yes Ed, I know they were offside a couple of times but that wasn't down to good defending. We were very lucky.
Our total lack of preparedness has been obvious from our first games of the season.
We scored a lot of goals because we have spent lots of money on our attack but we have given up dozens of chances at the other end to our opposition because we haven't spent much on midfield and nothing on defence.
MON is party to blame for that, he has openly admitted and SM has stated, that he is heavily involved in decuding which players are coming in.
Did he think we could get through without beefing up our midfield and defence or was he let down like the rest of us by the bean counters.
That is a question he should be asked.
If he stays, and I think he will, he should be fully supported to ensure we win the league.
Our board cannot roll out the excuse that players won't come in or financially it's not cost effective because the liss of revenue, the dead club have allegedly just spent near to 20m on 2 players and they are fighting to stay in the Conference League.
They are prepared to spend to try and win the title this year, to at least guarantee a chance to qualify for the CL. 2nd place has 2 or 3 qualifiers to get into the group stages of the Conference League.
This season is massive for our club and investment now could pay dividends at the end of the season.
We are losing money this season but if we don't invest now, we will take an ever bigger hit next season and we cannot provide them with the chance to gain a financial lifeline and stability.
26 Aug 2026 20:50:16
To simply put it we are not a champions league level club. We can’t beat the easy teams, we can’t take 4-0 leads and finish teams off. We are absolute sh**tebags all over the pitch.
I’ve said it before but Calum McGregor needs to give himself a shake. Another load of comments from our captain that make us look weak. It was the same story last year at the qualifiers. Shocking.
26 Aug 2026 21:02:01
We were weak.
26 Aug 2026 21:42:04
Calmac needed more help similar to the help he gave Broony.
It’s been the same for years.
If he had more teammates with his attitude we would have Qualified.
{Ed007's Note -
26 Aug 2026 22:01:42
Wow BB a hold you in high regard and often tell friends your stats as if I come up with them but that statement al keep to myself.
26 Aug 2026 23:20:42
Calmac always gives 100% which can’t be said for a few of his gutless teammates.
27 Aug 2026 06:24:01
Agree buzz calmac was bursting a gut more than most, you've got baur and nygren swanning about doing the nice bits further up the pitch meanwhile callum left on his own trying g to stop attacks and getting up the park to nick our only goal, but that's also on the management for setting us up that way although a cdm would solve the problem but hey ho too late now.
27 Aug 2026 07:51:46
Calmac was chasing shadows and completely unaware of runners ghosting by him.
Back to his pointing it’s unbelievable. He got his praise last week for actually doing decent in a European game, this week he was back to his standard stinking out the room European performance.
Captain liability.
27 Aug 2026 09:07:11
McGregor has been a lacklustre captain for us when it actually matters. It’s fine going out there and beating St Mirren putting in a performance but to allow that squad to collapse under its unbelievable weight of a 4-0 lead is shocking.
I appreciate that there are other factors at play.
27 Aug 2026 09:12:35
So he was chasing runners not runner, says it all.
27 Aug 2026 12:52:48
Ok Mally runner then if your acting the goat.
Your a Callum happy clapper.
27 Aug 2026 16:29:49
And u know feck all about football.
26 Aug 2026 18:11:03
At the start of the window I said on here that people should be prepared to being disappointed, as the board were the same and their strategy would be the same. I stand by that.
26 Aug 2026 19:35:31
Baur did not replace engles so the midfield was weaker and effectively we lost the game there.
26 Aug 2026 20:14:51
Yes a get that but the board wer t playing last night every player let us down to b 4 up and lose is a disgrace. ALl av seen today is Calmac said this n that he shouldve done his talking on the park, he should be dropped from playing in Europe yrs ago.
26 Aug 2026 20:37:47
100% Troy. Captain liability.
I’m sick of him.
26 Aug 2026 20:41:25
Good for you WeeJoe. I kinda get the impression your glad we got put out last night so you can say a big told you all so.
26 Aug 2026 20:48:08
Going through is against joes narrative, there hasn’t been a lot of negatives around Celtic last few weeks, just Joe ……but he’s right, depending on what happens between now and end window there will be plenty of others with him, and if that’s there opinion who can say there wrong, I don’t agree but certainly not me.
26 Aug 2026 20:51:50
I’m not saying the manager or players don’t have to shoulder some responsibility, but they were both badly let down by the board, as were we.
We were told that lessons would be learned, yet here we are, crashing out of the CL yet again because we failed to address obvious deficiencies in the squad before the qualifiers.
GK - sub-par
CB - sub-par
No cover at LB
No CDM
We sold our best midfielder before the tie and didn’t replace him.
We didn’t sell Hatate last summer, and he has been shocking since.
None of that is down to the players or the manager.
I mentioned before the tie that the board were yet again taking a massive gamble by failing to address these deficiencies before the qualifiers. I can’t say I’m surprised to see history repeating itself.
There’s a saying: doing the same thing over and over again while expecting a different result is the definition of insanity.
At some point, the board have to take responsibility for repeatedly putting the manager and players in this position and, ultimately, letting the fans down as well.
26 Aug 2026 21:12:29
Selling Engels for £22m was excellent piece of business and a wouldn’t say HE needs replaced a would say a far better calibre of player should’ve been brought in his position.
26 Aug 2026 21:18:15
100% rubbish, to be 4-0, we should have parked the bus, shut up shop, it's all down to bad tactics, it was all bad management, I like Martin, but he got it wrong, nothing at all to do with board.
26 Aug 2026 22:27:39
That is the point Troy, no one was brought in to improve the position and it left us severely weakened in a critical position, which was one of the main factors for us losing the game.
No one is saying that it was not a good fee, only that it had a massive consequence in doing so. The board knew months ago that he was likely to be leaving, as did we. So why was a suitable replacement not brought in to cover the void his sale left?
26 Aug 2026 22:32:57
We got into the position of 4-0 up with 65 mins to go. By chance or luck but we got there.
With 65 mins to go were the board getting a pat on the back and being told well done? No the players and management were.
Fast forward 65 mins then another 30 mins and it's all the boards fault. COME ON!
If we'd have got through the players and management would have alll got a big pat on the back and 40m for the club. Just because we never got through that same thought process doesn't turn to the board and make it their fault we didn't get through.
OK we could argue we were a couple of additions light. But those players on that pitch were good enough to get us 5 goals in front and should have been good enough to hold a 4-0 lead
The board can't legislate for a horrendous Nygren either back pass to the keeper or a pass to McGregor either way it was from just outside the halfway line and a blind pass.
The board can't legislate for Trusty who stands a 6ft3 getting bullied off the ball for the 2nd
The board can't legislate for 3 goals being scored from outside the box.
No that's all on the players and desire to win your duals and get out to players, press and be aggressive instead of being passive.
Now this boards not perfect not by a long chalk. But let's not build a narrative that last night was on them.
No that was on the players, management and tactics.
26 Aug 2026 22:45:17
Troy, you said Engels needed replaced by a better calibre player. Well we didn’t replace him with ANYONE. What part of that plan was an upgrade?
27 Aug 2026 05:00:32
I think you're conflating two separate arguments. I've already acknowledged that the manager and players have to shoulder part of the responsibility for what happened. The collapse was absolutely on the pitch and there were individual errors, poor defending and questionable tactical decisions. But that doesn't mean the board should escape criticism for the position we found ourselves in.
Yes, the players and manager deserve enormous credit for getting us 4-0 up in the first place. They were the ones who put us in that position, and if we'd held on, we'd rightly have praised them to the heavens. But that cuts both ways. The board don't get to claim credit for the success while distancing themselves from the obvious weaknesses in the squad that have been apparent since the season started.
The midfield and defence have been glaringly short of quality and depth. That's not something that suddenly became apparent last night. It's been obvious for weeks. If the board had addressed those deficiencies, we'd have been better equipped to manage a game when the momentum shifted.
And yes, Nygren's pass was horrendous. Trusty getting bullied for the second goal was poor. Three goals from outside the box shouldn't happen and wouldn't have happened with a better keeper between the sticks, so why didn't we have a first choice GK in place, despite knowing we needed one 6 months ago? Players have to win their individual battles, defend properly and show the desire and aggression required at that level. I'm not disputing any of that but we have known this crop of players have lacked that long before the match, that is on the board for not addressing it and selling Engels and making it worse.
But the argument that "the board can't legislate for individual mistakes" misses the bigger point. Boards don't legislate for individual mistakes; they build squads capable of absorbing them. They provide the manager with enough quality, depth and balance to cope when things go wrong.
You say that if we'd gone through, the players and management would have received the praise and the club would have received £40m. Absolutely. And rightly so. But if we'd gone through despite having glaring weaknesses in midfield and defence, that wouldn't suddenly mean the board had done everything right. It would mean the players and manager had overcome those deficiencies.
Getting to 4-0 with a huge slice of luck doesn't erase the deficiencies. In fact, it highlighted the issue: we had 65 minutes to protect a four goal advantage and still weren't equipped to manage the game when things turned against us.
So no, I'm not saying "last night was all the board's fault". It wasn't. The players, manager and tactics deserve plenty of criticism.
But saying it's only on the players, management and tactics is just as simplistic.
The players and manager are responsible for what happened on the pitch. The board are responsible for constructing the squad that went onto that pitch. Both things can be true.
And when the weaknesses in that squad have been glaringly obvious since the start of the season, it's perfectly reasonable to ask why they weren't addressed before we reached the biggest game of the season. Don't you agree?

Our league games which will now be changed to a Sunday due to Europa League fixtures.
Home to Sevco which was already a Sunday.
Home to Hearts
Away to Hibs
Home to Kilmarnock
Away to Hearts
Home to Hibs or LC Final.
Only Scottish club to play 2 European fixtures after Christmas-
Away to St. Mirren
Home to Falkirk.
Maybe wouldn’t be a bad thing for both Hibs and Hearts to get Thursday night European football with us potentially playing them in 4 league matches a few days later.
26 Aug 2026 20:41:25
Hearts heard you buzz 🤣🤣🤣 think the sevies might loose so as to gain advantage 🙈🙈🙈 then again they are spending 19 mill on 2 forwards so need the money 💰.
26 Aug 2026 22:34:08
The crown jewels Raskin getting sold to pay for them.
26 Aug 2026 16:54:45
Apparently Mccowan gave the ball away 20 times 😭.
26 Aug 2026 18:27:31
Get off the boys back. It was only 19 🤗.
26 Aug 2026 19:49:32
It wasn't just his giving the ball away, he never went beyond a jog to get it back, he was horrendous and should be loaned out immediately.
26 Aug 2026 20:38:34
One of a few that should never play for us again.
26 Aug 2026 16:48:57
Canny shift this depression after last night do they players and board know the affect it has on the fans, am not so sure.
26 Aug 2026 20:06:43
That result has had the biggest effect on me in my lifetime and I'm 55, its way worse than anything I've witnessed, losing titles on last day, failing miserably to win 10iar and failing to qualify multiple times in this competition, this one beats the lot. Being 4-0 up with what was at stake and how the feel good factor would have carried us through this season and beyond, to throw that away and put a huge dark cloud over the place is unforgivable.
The minimum we should be doing is sign the players we were intending to regardless (if they still want to come) steamroller everything infrastructure of us domestically and I know its not everyone's cup of tea but have a long run in the Europa. If we were to do this we would be set up for next season with a decent squad. But i'll not hold my breath 🥺.
26 Aug 2026 22:24:56
Do you think they won’t sell any assets next year, right before the qualifiers. This board have made it plain time and time again, they won’t be changing their agenda. Time they were gone!

If the board have any sense they’ll push thru some of the signings, Torino boy, Chelsea lb and Serbian guy, towards end window I’d like us to test resolve of hibs for chaiwa and manwanise at hibs, we maybe have to brace ourselves for offers but only one I can see going is Nygren ( and I wouldn’t be too fussed if Serb boy was in door) however a few goals out Nygren this season will be the cl money void helped come selling time,
Not sure rules for Scottish quota but ralston and McGowan should surely be pushed towards exit with reo and balikwisha,
My doom n gloom has now evaporated, I’m positive again and can’t wait to see reaction Saturday.
26 Aug 2026 17:59:20
Ralston Murray mccowan tounekti balikwisha hatate nowhere near good enough even for the bench, Donovan just makes it, but we really need at least 3 or 4 more players that if on the bench they can contribute.
26 Aug 2026 18:29:55
Jaa11
Some of us support Celtic for the football not to fill a Finical void. Happy clapping nonsense.
26 Aug 2026 19:39:40
Spell it.
26 Aug 2026 20:10:05
My wife kicked my a** today. She reminded me that we are at the start of the next cycle, yes it is a set back but we need to push forward now with more signings and push towards the next milestone.
We are only steps forward in this next cycle so I am chillin a little more and accepting that we were nowhere near ready for that challenge, which isn't the players fault.
Now it is time for the board to really step up, when the road to riches has been temporarily shut and demonstrate that they have a plan for our club.
26 Aug 2026 23:52:52
Not really seen much of Gineitis to be gutted that one is likely fallen through. The two I was most excited for was Mahmic and Sigur. Sigur's defensive data is very good, had we had him in before the tie we wouldn't be shipping 5 goals and heading home. He wants to come and isn't a high fee either, so that's one we should be pushing for in an area of the pitch that's been lacking.
Callum has this season and next before his contract expires and I can't see another deal coming his way on his current form these past few seasons. So we need to be making inroads into finding his long term replacement.
26 Aug 2026 15:44:09
Not been on for a while due to health reasons but feeling a bit better now
Last night 4 0 up on aggregate we should kill the game but we still constantly get caught out and being over run all over the park
We got lucky last week not to concede
Our midfield is shocking we have not got a player who could win a fifty fifty tackle
In this day in football teams have big strong players but we just get bullied everywhere
I have always loved KT but l cannot remember a player who almost every game has to come off when he has not been injured in a tackle
We have nobody who gets under peoples skin who can annoy opposition players and fans
I do not know who we will bring in because l think a lot depended on winning last night and we need quite a few to improve the team.
