If Maeda gets injured on Friday we are in major ?.
We would be going into our most important game of the season with no left winger.
13 Aug 2025 18:28:57
Joseph
I wouldn’t play him - he’s our only left winger and best striker - we’d be doubly gubbed. Change the shape two up top Idah and Kenny. Same goes for KT play the £250 grand Japanese understudy or go three at the back. Whatever.
It’s potentially a monumental act of self harm and absolute insanity the options or rather lack thereof that the board or DD has left Rodgers to juggle with champions league football and the small matter of a £40m prize awaiting. Madness nae negligence.

100% agree,
we're walking an injury tightrope to players in the forward positions.

I would really like to see us go 4-4-2 with the old fashioned diamond of McGregor, Bernardo, Engels and Nygren in the middle with Maeda and Idah up top.
13 Aug 2025 19:52:30
Sinisalo
Ralston
Murray
Pusey
Inamura
Engles
McCowan
Bernardo
Yang
Kenny
Yamada
Would be my team on Friday.
13 Aug 2025 20:33:28
I agree with above, but don't think BR will waver from his rigid choice of formation or style of play and I imagine he may go :- Sinisalo
Ralston Murray Trusty Scales
McCowan Cal-Mac Engels
Yang Idah Forrest
I've chosen Idah as he needs a goal or two.
13 Aug 2025 20:44:35
Guys I agree rest Maeda and let us see what Yamada can do
Apparently he has good workrate and pace to kill give him a chance.
13 Aug 2025 21:39:48
Rest player's? When we've not played since Sunday? At this stage of the season it's about getting player's fitness level's up.
{Ed007's Note - The highest paid player in Scottish football history and the Celtic support don't think he's up to playing against Falkirk at home, we might get another 60 mins out him or has he infected the squad after "spewing all over the dressing room"... £3 million a season and not fit enough to play?
Is that a Rodgers or "Club" signing?}
13 Aug 2025 21:40:49
BR played a strong team at pittodrie the wk before the cup final and back fired big time am hoping Maeda cal Mac ccv teirney don’t play but wait and see.
13 Aug 2025 21:50:36
As I said in my original post, there's NO need to rest player's at this stage of the season.
{Ed007's Note - Exactly ?
13 Aug 2025 22:03:30
So you’d risk £40m to beat Falkirk in the cup?
{Ed007's Note - If we go out we could sell KT in January to cover the shortfall, maybe even next summer for £25m if his Shakira Hips work out...
13 Aug 2025 22:23:51
It's not about resting players it's about getting players game time and getting everyone's match fitness up to speed. Of course there is more important matches that lie ahead in the CL and league.
14 Aug 2025 06:05:32
If the club had signed players for the glaringly obvious positions needed we wouldn't even be talking about resting players or not running the risk of players getting injured. this situation has become farcical.
14 Aug 2025 09:16:58
I see another media story out today, suggesting it is DD that is refusing to rubber stamp the players MN has identified, negotiated with and agreed terms, because he doesn't think they are good value for money.
If that is the case, one man and not our board is responsible for what has been an underwhelming (so far) window.
14 Aug 2025 05:37:31
Why all the hate for KT, Ed? He's better than Taylor.
{Ed007's Note - After being away 6 years, he's known since at least January hs was coming back and he's still not fit enough to play 90 mins. He could be better than Maldini but what use is he if he isn't fit?
He left Celtic injured and unfit and 6 1/2 years later nothing's changed, he's still got injury problems and he's still unfit.
£3m a year on Hob Nop Hips but the board don't spend money - unless it's one of the Bhoys eh, Baby Lawwell, Baby Strachan, Kennedy, McManus, Maloney and now we have KT making round about £1k per minute he's played so far since his lauded return.}
14 Aug 2025 09:55:25
The board have never and won’t interfere in signing players. It’s not in their remit.
One or two individuals have controlled things for a long time…. Might be just one now.
14 Aug 2025 10:03:08
Maedainparadise
All the evidence is pointing to DD being the problem. Tisdale apparently is Rodgers man - he’s actually been fairly complimentary about recruitment. If Michael Nicholson was the problem Rodgers would bypass him as he has DD’s ear. If DD is the problem with his insistence on value for money and getting not only a player but a bang for his buck Rodgers has nowhere to go. His demeanour appears to have moved from frustration through anger to acceptance. He is where he is and will have to do the best with what he has but I doubt he’ll put himself in this position again after his current deal.
14 Aug 2025 10:20:10
I thought the original post was about not risking a player in a low key game. Nothing to do with resting them this early. The lack of signings in certain areas leaves us short of options if any injuries occur but we should have enough depth of squad for Friday's game.
{Ed007's Note - And yet we "risked" playing Greg Taylor every week with no real cover at LB. Should we even risk playing KT in the qualifiers considering we go to Ibrox a few days after them?
14 Aug 2025 10:20:11
PS: Nygren would also suggest Tisdale has done his bit - but at £1.5m.
14 Aug 2025 10:32:28
BR doesn't play half the players he signs?.
14 Aug 2025 10:36:01
Was magic watching KT set up first goal on Saturday. Then joining in at the end celebrating with the support. Celtic Celtic that's the team for him.
{Ed007's Note - Aw that's so cute, I bet it gave you and the rest of the kids something to talk about on your first day back - what primary did you go into today?
14 Aug 2025 11:08:33
Id take a 60-65 minute KT over Taylor all day long. We generally sub 3 players around that mark most weeks and with 5 subs its no big issue. Has shown aleady he will provide assists and won't get bullied.
{Ed007's Note - Yeah, the Club will be getting cracking value for money from that. Here's a question, if DD doesn't think he's getting VFM from the signing targets they must be pure honking if he thinks £3m a year on Tierney is.}
14 Aug 2025 10:43:16
We need to keep on winning . Winning is a good habit and we cannot throw it away lightly . Players can get injured in their own house tripping over a toy . i would definitely start Maeda, as we need to give him a chance to find good form . Idah and Skin should play a half a piece . I certainly wouldn’t start Forrest, either Yang, if fit, or Magowan.
I think i would probably not start K. Tierney, hopefully we don’t need him in 2nd half . I would Inamura to get a run out, but he may fall foul of the BR rule, if he didn’t have final say, it doesn’t matter how good he is, if BR didn’t tell Nicholson to sign him, then he won’t play him.
14 Aug 2025 11:08:09
So do you just give up on the treble again by not playing our strongest team, these are meant to be professional athletes, they are highly paid professional athletes, but do you mean they shouldn't play any more training matches in case they get injured, or not do anymore running round the track in case they turn on an ankle, or trip on a step going up the staircase, just play the strongest team, if they get injured, so be it, and deal with it, if it happens, it happens .
14 Aug 2025 12:05:43
Savage Ed ?.
{Ed007's Note - ?
14 Aug 2025 13:59:04
You've sharpened the claws Ed ??.
{Ed007's Note - ?
14 Aug 2025 21:06:32
What's the point of earning 40m if they won't spend it JFP, I'm more interested in getting my top 11 starters really match sharp, especially with the currant buns game on the near horizon.
