Brussels minnows Royale Union have done well in recent years after spending generations in the shadow of local rivals Anderlecht.

They won the Belgian title last season ahead of Club Brugge and now they're leading 2-0 away to PSV in the CL Group.

I've mentioned before that Celtic have made a transfer profit of €45M since Brendan came back in 2023 according to Transfermarkt.
( spent €88M and brought in €133M )

In that same timeline Royale Union have made a transfer profit of €80M
( spent only €50M and brought in €130M )

Transfermarkt are not the best at player valuations but it's only a guideline.
According to them the Belgian Champions squad is only worth €75M and they have the Celtic squad valued about €130M to €140M the last time I looked.

All of Belgian football is benefiting from an outstanding and well thought out and committed to youth / b team set up . As is the national team . your right in terms of the clubs as they’re not bigger than Celtic, there players are just sadly better than ours.

Tony Bloom who recently invested in Hearts and has a 10 year plan for them actually took over Royale Union in 2018 when they were in the 2nd Division.
USG are now the Belgian Champions and playing in the CL within 7 years.

Tony Bloom was forced to change ownership of USG in 2023 due to him also
being a majority owner of Brighton because it was breaking the UEFA duel ownership rule for European matches.
He’s now only a minority shareholder of USG.
Hearts will be hoping for similar success to what he’s achieved with Brighton and USG.

Maybe that’s why the Hearts fans were chanting his name at Ibrox on Saturday and not the Bonnie Blue version the daft home fans thought ?‍♂️.

{Ed007's Note - Whit is it with you and Bonnie Bluto? Do I need to email Mrs Buzz??

I didn’t know that Jaa 11
It’s definitely a huge SFA issue that needs sorted ASAP.

It’s massively obvious that’s where Scottish football is badly failing and I don’t think there’s much Celtic can currently do about that until the B or reserve league become much more competitive in Scotland.

Tony Bloom for me is a guy we need to take seriously with the success he has with relatively small clubs, ano people go on about McKenna Klunsen if BR leaves end of season but surely USG manager is worth keeping an eye on.

Brighton have done very well but after a good season are settling down to where they will be and that is a middle to bottom Premier league team.

They cannot compete with the top teams in buying the very best players.

They bring through very good young players who they sell for good money but to challenge the best in the PL you need vast amounts of money.

Bloom will do well at Hearts because 10 million can make a difference up here but it should still not challenge ourselves with the money at our disposal but to ensure we stay ahead, we need to invest in higher quality players.

He invested 10 mil in hearts, we spent more in Engels alone.

We are not where we should be but we should still have strength in depth to see them off.

We need to stop being obsessed with winning, we need to go back to supporting the club, we need to bring on our own young players, use the premier league as if it was the reserve league, use our own young players, we won't win much, maybe, at first, but with the right youth development and coaching eventually we will end up with a crop of good home grown players, who might be would beaters, you can go down to the public park and enjoy a good hard fought honest match, we need to get back to that enjoy the football for what it is, stop being obsessed with winning,

some of the games we have been involved with this season, I would rather go down the park and watch a couple of local teams trying as hard as they can than some of the stuff we have been served up y the first team and this excuse of a manager, how any manager can go on as bout how his players lack quality like Rodgers has done beggars belief, stop throwing the players under the bus to cover your own failings.

It’s obsessive behaviour Ed ?‍♂️.

Aindoh, you would rather be in the stands watching our home grown talent lose and win nothing, rather than winning trophies and hopefully making the effort to improve in Europe.

How are our homegrown talent going to improve when they are beaten week in week out by most teams in the leagye, because realistically a team of young homegrown players would struggle at the bottom half or maybe bottom of the league.

You think the anger across the city is bad, can you imagine the rage of 60000 Celtic supporters if our club even suggested that.

It’s up to the SFA to sort out the reserve league mess and make it more competitive.
They should make it compulsory for the Premiership Clubs.

Buzz your mention of Bonnie Blue got a reaction from BFKB who on hearing she was at Ibrox said "that's ALL we need even more T! TS at Rangers"

You’re still the main funny guy on here Tim ?.
