Strikers don’t come easy, if we can’t get strelec, I’m all for buying some wingers and playing maeda cf.

If Maeda ended up playing up front for us, then Idah, at 24 yrs of age will be a spent force.
It would destroy his confidence and be a waste of a signing ?.
There will then be one or two strikers in line behind Idah, waiting for their chance - do you bypass them also? ?
It shouldn't and won't happen, I can see BR signing a striker to provide competition for Idah and contribute to the goals from the most forward position in the team.
I also believe, as much as we require another striker, there are plenty of goals in the big lad, he's proved that before and will do so again.

If we'd a winger to play on the left I'd have maeda as striker over idah any day of the week. yes idah scored 29 goals plus last season, but most of his decent stuff imo came off the bench. for me he's nowhere near what we need as a striker, and yes it's very early in the season, but the games he has started I've seen absolutely nothing from him to warrant regular starts.

??? idha chased a ball. That should be minimal for a Celtic No 9. He still can't control a ball, hold it up or keep up with play. Going to be Celtic's most expensive flop.
40 million pound game on Wednesday and we are weaker than last season. Board neglect and it won't change. Bank Balance is good though. Do that keeps a lot of our support happy. Football over Finance.

I like Idah, I think he's honest and he's got something about him. He should be watching videos of our previous strikers to let him see what's expected of him. Whether he's not getting the service he should be getting or the link-up play is lacking then I'd be happy to bear with him for the foreseeable future.

Stengo
He's 24yrs old he's not a nieve teenager. He can watch the Sopranos it won't make him a gangster. Just like watching ex strikers will make him a Celtic striker.

I agree Stengo. He should watch videos of Sutton. However Sutton had Larsson playing off him which made his job much easier. Idah has to do a lot more himself but as yet hasn't had a lot of service into him.

Thing is IDAH should be up to speed with his position his job and the team by now, Sadly I don't think that is the case And that is why I think we need a new striker because Idah is far from ready IF he ever gets there at all. IMO He is okay for back up or coming on at some point in the game but he is never a first choice striker for most teams in the SPFL let alone Celtic.

Auf18881967, that's a ridiculous thing to say. It's like saying Brendan Rodgers doesn't watch footage of who Celtic are about to play in order to counter what may come their way?
Idah watching videos of the likes of Cadete, McAvennie, Dziekanowski and others to see what a Celtic striker is expected to be.
18 Aug 2025 11:46:50
Auf just tries to troll but always makes himself look silly, there's one or two others like that that pop up from time to time.

In between games and as a distraction from our transfer inactivity, I watch highlights of Celtic games from the last few years and Idah has scored a variety of very good goals since his loan period.
Most of his best games seems to be as an impact player from the bench and I think that at 24 he is old enough to have 'learned his trade', without studying predecessors but then again, there are still parts of his game that are literally not good enough. BR has had time to coach him (and Kenny) , but they don't seem to have improved to reach the consistency and class of previous successful Celtic No 9's.
This leaves a predicament and something definitely has to change.

Stengo if he didn’t know what it took to be a Celtic striker after his loan spell he shouldn’t have signed permanently.
18 Aug 2025 16:28:30
Idah is just nowhere near good enough, never was and never will be. He can't control a ball, never anticipates where the ball will be. £3m was too much never mind £9.5m. Kenny in the same mould. A Dundee level player.

Watching videos of Caddete, McAvennie and Jackie will just give him an inferiority complex.
