Just read an article on a Celtic blog saying our Board better be more prepared than we were when Kyogo left with his countryman Maeda also wanting to leave.
Surely even this Board must have SOME kind of plan in place, after all they still have 3 months.
But surely the player we should sign is already playing in the SPFL the boy Bowie from Hibs.

{Ed007's Note - I reckon Maeda's replacements are already here in Jota & Tounekti.}

Ed I agree with this and we can also add Balikwisha to this line of thinking however if we assume Iheanacho replaced idah then we still haven’t replaced Kyogo.

If the board don’t achieve this in January in my view that are giving two fingers to BR and the fans.

{Ed007's Note - Surely there'll be a striker, at the very least, brought in in January?! The only worry for me is that during January there is a smaller pool of available players.}

I know the manager has a habit of overloading wingers, but we are crying out for a proven, quality striker and a ball-winner. Appreciate January is not usually the best time, but the Board have amends to make and need to pull out all the stops. Or are they so arrogant and aloof, they will bargain-hunt or worse do nothing?

ED007 I cannot remember who said it, but an ex Celtic player when we were chasing Idah he said the other Norwich player Sergeant was a better prospect and at that time we probably could have got him under £5m as Idah was getting all the headlines but Sergeant was getting the goals.

Have not replaced Kuhn either and still need to upgrade LCB.

Do the board have a plan? Probably not based on previous history.

{Ed007's Note - Scales has been our best CB over the last 12/18 months, it's CCV that needs to to be moved on & improved on.}

Joe,

I have never understood the enthusiasm on Scales and Buzz and I had this conversation recently.

Has he improved- yes.

However he would have never got near the teams that we had in recent years in my opinion.

That said CCV needs moved on as well.

So much work needed on that Squad, but as Edd pointed out earlier January is not a great window to do it in.

What were our board thinking this Summer.

Scales is ok for most SPFL games bit is not quick enough and his distribution is too erratic for Europe.

{Ed007's Note - He's still a better defender than CCV who has also shown he isn't good enough for Europe too. CCV looks good when Celtic have possession & controlling the game, his pace covers a lot of his positional mistakes domestically but Scales is an out and out defender, in Europe with our backs against the wall give me Scales over CCV any day and all day.}

Surely the whole issue we have at the moment is that we don’t need to be replacing anyone, we need to be upgrading! Replacing would only keep us standing still while the rest of football moves forward? If we don’t change the entire strategy, what’s the point of the protest?

I think CCV wants away too. If he does, he's hardly putting himself in the frame for a big move. Scales is a really good backs to the wall defender. He just doesn't have the pace or distribution required at the Euro level, neither of them do, hence the 100 passes about the back. i woukd keep scales as back up. If we want to improve we need better and that includes the midfield. Can I see that being addressed in January? Don't be daft.

This is what I don't understand with BR approach, playing his favourites every game regardless of form and without a thought of what the opposition might offer.

Dane Murray was looking more than ready for a first team place and has huge potential for the future but despite CCV looking well below his best, Murray has not had a look in.

More commanding in the air and with Scales, a threat in the opposition box at set pieces. By the time he gets another sniff, he will no doubt be off the pace and too rusty. Same can be said for Sinisalo.

Both excellent prospects being stifled by the BR "favourites" approach!
