See Arthur Vermeeren been made available by Leipzig. If Celtic had any future planning they'd be asking the question. 20 years old, Athletic, 5ft 11. Strong in the tackle.
Perfect No6.

It's definitely a position we should be looking at and moving calmac up 1.maybe a loan with option to buy?
24 Aug 2025 23:49:55
I don’t think Calmac has got the legs to move up one now since he’s over 30.

I get flagged at work for this but my opinion of calmac is he is good enough for our league but we need better for Europe, he is constantly being found out. But my mates in work constantly say he is a brilliant midfielder then they start asking who could replace him. I don't watch any other football other than celtic so I don't know but I know if we want to make a mark in Europe then we need better than calmac in there.

I agree Cal-Mac is out of his depth against better European opposition and in fact did very little last Wednesday. If I remember correctly he evan struggled in a couple of Sevco games, although it's fair to say the other midfield players never did any better. As a captain and leader BR cannot see past him and will probably play him well into his 30's like we did with Broony.

I’ve been saying it for the past 2 seasons as well. My mates give me it stinking for even suggesting Callum has been average for a couple years now. On his day an absolutely brilliant player but we only see that 1 or 2 times a season now.
He slows the game down way too much. Him recycling the ball with the centre backs has been killing our momentum dead. You seen it at the weekend when he came on. Having Engels or Bernardo in there is far more efficient.
McGregor is as Protected as Kyogo was, couldn’t say a bad word about him because people had an insane bias towards him. Kyogo was insanely average after his first season and folk still think he was the best since larsson. In 2018 we had Edouard, Griff and Dembele as striking options. Just think about that. We now have Idah, Kenny and Yamada. Have we improved since then? I think not.
I’m not being funny but there are lads that play football manager that could do a better job than our “scouting” set up. Or is our set up unbelievable but the board won’t sanction the signings as they don’t fit our model?
It’s hard to say.

Broony was twice the player calmac is.
25 Aug 2025 11:49:12
We should be looking at reducing Calmac's playing to preserve his hunger and effectiveness. Was it a couple of seasons ago he was playing a mega-amount of games? Think he's suffering a bit now and definitely slowing down.
25 Aug 2025 14:03:23
100% on CalMac.
Not physical enough and is unable to play at pace at the European level, thus slows play down.
This is even evident in some domestic games. It's great having 700+ passes a game, but not when 500 of them are going backwards or sideways across the defence ?

Maybe he knows he's on the decline a little bit now. There was talks between him and Brendan about retirement at the start of the season (obvs further down the line) he has been our marathon man over the years and that catches up with you eventually.

Aye, never change guys. Calmac has 2 good games a season? Is that a joke ? you lot honestly sound like my little brother complaining about the ball being passed backwards. Would you rather they pass the ball over the top into no space? Or would you rather the winger try and run though 5-6 bodies and go through on goal? Some amount of morons on here that know absolutely nothing about football other than what they read online and see on tv.
We need to recycle the ball sometimes as the other team defend well or in numbers. Moving them side to side either tires them out or takes someone out of position. It’s a tactic that works more often than not for us at league level and is why we have won the league so much. You think we never done that under Ange and if you actually go back and watch, we absolutely did. Also under Lennon.
McGregor doesn’t have the legs he used to have but in terms of bringing composure to be middle of the field for us, he’s second to none. Broony was also not twice the player as him but I did prefer broony. Look at the Leipzig game last year, got pressed in the midfield, didn’t panic, kept the ball and played it out and beat their press. We scored right after it. He has a handful of ineffective games every season but who doesn’t. I’d really like to understand what player you guys are watching because seems like you’re just being overly critical for the sake of it. Probably in a big cream puff because we haven’t signed KDB or Modric for free.

Whatever mate you’re obviously the football guru so will listen to everything you have to say and take it as gospel. Calling people morons because you disagree with their opinion sums you up completely. Absolute f*d.

I don’t know if comparing Cal Mac
To broony is fair. I know they are both deep lying midfielders but their role was different. I know my example is extreme but I think it’s like comparing Makalele to xabi alonso. McGregor is sorely missed when he’s not playing as he sets the tempo and under ange was getting the ball forward very quickly. Sadly he’s only domestic level for me now. Much like myself he’s an auld hit now.
