I'm pretty sure all our board have a decent number of shares in Celtic plc.

Therefore, it makes sense to them to run a large profit each year as it means they get paid a dividend proportionate to the number of shares they have.

So while it makes bad business sense to horde money, it makes a lot of personal sense for them to do it.

Self-serving greed, with no regard for the people they are supposed to represent, is not normally associated with Celtic's roots.

That’s always been my understanding but I don’t know too much about it to be sure.

{Ed007's Note - PL has 356,000 shares in Celtic PLC, at 3.6p dividend per share which works out to about just under £13k, Tom Allison has 3,357,505 so gets circa £121k. Those dividend payments have been as low as 3.2p in 2014. PL has seen the decline of Celtic over the last 10 years for £130k in dividends?
It's preposterous to even contemplate that the Celtic board are holding the Club back because of their share dividends, nobody at Celtic is siphoning off money to an offshore account or a company in Delaware - I don't know why they are doing it but it's 100% definitely not to make any of themselves richer apart from their salary/investment which everyone is entitled to do. The only way any of them will ever make serious money out of Celtic
That's the question nobody can answer, why are we stockpiling money and being ran so shabbily? That's a question I would like to see the board answer.}

Not in the least…. Have you any any financial analysis to underpin these assessments?

Celtic share dividends have paid less than most funds and are lower than funds that track the FOTSE or Dow Jones.

Investing in Celtic is not the way to riches….

Cast our net wider.

{Ed007's Note - Is that to me mate?}

Dermot Desmond has around 33 million shares which would equate to a dividend of £1,188,000.

I am guessing the dividend only gets paid when the club make enough profit.

I was not saying the board are syphoning money to an offshore account. I was merely pointing out that they benefit financially when we return a profit.

{Ed007's Note - It's went up 0.36 of a penny since 2016 - and being in the CL would return a better profit but not much difference to any dividends. Maybe DD would only get £1m... I'm sure he's not waiting on that mill to put money on the lecky...

I actually skimmed through the accounts and it appears we only paid circa 500,000 in dividends and that was on preference shares.

I also checked documents filed at company house and 40000 preference shares were converted to ordinary shares this year.

Ed, read an article a few weeks ago which stated that the reason they were stockpiling money was to ensure they were covered should any calamity ensued, such as "doing a 2012 Rangers", being out of an extended European spell, or having to do serious work on the stadium. I think it was a PL interview but I can't lay my hand on it.

{Ed007's Note - Those are just feeble excuses though aren't they? There's absolutely no chance of Celtic ending up like the original Ibrox club and Lawwell himself has said in the past we don't budget for CL football. The stadium is needing serious work so why not get on with it if that's what it's for and realistically (sensibly) any serious work - like rebuilding the South Stand - would be done with a loan.}

Sounds like feeble excuses. Other than the possibility PL is sh! t scared of DD's influence and doesn't have the confidence to spend.

Just had a look for the article I read some time ago but can't find it. In it, PL stated along the lines of not taking out a loan but using capital as the main source for rebuilding the South Stand.

The article stated that the income generated vs the cost to have the work done wouldn't be feasible given the limited number of seats that were installed - especially with Celtic being in the SPFL.
