WOW, Sergio Aguero has announced he's leaving Man City and their owner, in response, has said he's already commissioned a statue to be made in his honour.

Martin O'Neil on radio again talking about how good Roy Keane would be as a Celtic manager.

Weird how he has been off the scene for years and then all of a sudden he is popping up here, there and everywhere talking about Roy Keane as the Celtic manager.

The cynic in me things he is being rolled out by DD to try and get fans on side for accepting Roy Keane as manager.

All I can say is, where are my eggs and megaphone.

With the buildup to the Falkirk game on Saturday, the greatest match I've ever attended was against Falkirk in 1992.
Falkirk 4 Celtic 5 in September 1992.
Pat Bonner was playing his first game for 10 months and he helped turn the game in Falkirk's favour.
Bonner came out for the ball and missed it and Mowbray ended up handling on the line.
Mowbray was sent off and Falkirk scored their penalty.
Celtic scored a penalty of our own and we also scored in the first minute of the 2nd half to go 2-1 ahead.
But we lost 3 goals in less than 10 crazy minutes to go 4-2 down with only 10 men.
I was on the terracing behind the goals but my dad was in the main stand and he left at 4-2 with 20 minutes to go.
When he got to the exit, Celtic scored to make it 4-3 but he still decided to leave.
Falkirk were then also reduced to 10 men after a 2nd booking and it was game on.
Celtic equalised with 10 minutes to go and I accidentally gave the guy behind me a bloody nose. The back of my head hit his nose but he was okay after first aid treatment.
Then in the last minute John Collins scored a belter of a winner.
An unbelievable game and when I got back to the Supporters bus there was an oven baked Pizza waiting for me from my dad.
If Carlsberg done football games.

Or the Celtic v Tirol Insbruck?

That’s one for Buzz Bomb.

Buzz I was at that game and Jackie must be the only Celtic player to score four goals in one game in Europe yet we got knocked out?

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Mar 2021 20:32:53
LennonAtWork
I was in the Main stand for the Partizan match.
It probably was my greatest game up until injury time.
Funny story about the Tirol game.
I was in the Monklands Hospital because I was getting my appendix out the next morning, but my wife forgot to bring my radio.
I was in a room with 3 pensioners and one of them was an Airdrie fan and he gave me his radio to listen to the game.
It was weird with 3 pairs of eyes glued to me whilst I was going mental.
I was shouting goal one minute and then devastated the next.
I think the old men enjoyed the dancing about commentary.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - My memory of days or dates might be a bit hazy, Buzz but me and my mates went to the ICT cup game on the Saturday in 2000 and were steaming already walking down to the ground from the LRT when we heard it had been called off. On the Monday I had my accident at work and was in Hairmyres hospital for a while but I think the game was played in the midweek and I remember being in the hospital "oot ma nut" full of Morphine going tonto along with an old Bhoy called Owenie that had dementia but his face and personality lit up when it came to talking about Celtic - and I still think about that old Bhoy when people mention that game. I must have reminded him of someone as he got really upset when I was getting ready to go home. 😢
I won't mention the other time I was in hospital watching Celtic getting beat and the drip I was on started sucking blood out me instead of putting the stuff into my arm - that wasn't pretty lol}

29 Mar 2021 21:12:36
I remember the ICT game well Ed because I was friends with a couple of their players at that time.
Two of the ICT players where at the Airdrie game with me in the previous round.
ICT couldn’t have been playing their game on the Saturday.
My wife couldn’t go to the midweek game and I gave her ticket to the guy who ran me to work.
We were dayshift and we went straight from work.
He hadn’t been to a Celtic game since one of the Dundee Utd cup finals.
He said there was a crush and he broke some ribs and he hadn’t been back.
His first game in over 10 years and it was a disaster.
I didn’t realise your accident was over 20 years ago Ed.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Yeah, Buzz. My initial accident was 2000 but I was fine and back working for 9/10 years before all the steelwork in my leg became infected and it all went Pete Tong since then.}

29 Mar 2021 21:25:11
The emotional roller coaster games are amazing. Was not at the Tirol game but remember listening to it in my mates car, were three of us and all big tims.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Mar 2021 22:13:29
I thought the Airdrie game was the round before but I’m only a year out.
It was still strange watching ICT play Celtic off the park at home.
Especially when I’d seen most of those same players in the Scottish 3rd division.

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Mar 2021 08:43:31
When your talking of Jackie, I remember training with partick thistle at huntershill, and John lambie was buzzing that morning, he knew I was a massive Tim, and he kept saying u will like who's showing up in a wee while, about 2 hours later, Raymond sparks showed up in a big motor, wee lambie was off the a shot, I turned round and show Jackie getting out the car, **** me he must have been about 25 stone! Did he no get sacked fae us for pumping Brian Scott's wife?

Who do you think or would like to be the next captain? For me if Kris Ajer was to stay I think he would be a good candidate Calum I think captain slows his game down to much.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

29 Mar 2021 16:50:28
Callum for me no other candidate, which is poor as there should be a few players up for it but shows how far we've regressed.

29 Mar 2021 16:52:12
Calmac all day👍.

Agree1 Disagree0

29 Mar 2021 16:53:41
Ajer always seems more vocal on the pitch. Would mutch rather have him as captain.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Mar 2021 17:02:33
Mally you are correct there should be a few more names to discuss for that post and it does show how far we have regressed.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Mar 2021 17:53:25
They might bring one in but doubt that they can't even find a manager but McGregor will get it if he stays.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Mar 2021 18:48:18
CalMac is a very good player and important to the team going forward but I don't see him as Captain material 🤔

I'd imagine the new manager will have his own ideas and may even appoint one of his signings as Captain.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Mar 2021 19:06:54
I agree with Ajer, I've said that for a while now.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Mar 2021 20:02:08
Ajer needs to concentrate on becoming a half decent player to start with nevermind being vocal and captain. I mean he thinks this has been his best season at Celtic ( no laughing at the back) bonkers! Anyway pointless debate as he won't be here much longer.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Mar 2021 23:19:26
Throughout the whole season Ajer has probably been our most consistent player. Turnbull coming in the team later in the season has improved us going forward but he's forever subbed off and his impact has waned the last few games. If Ajer was to stay I'd rather he got the armband over McGregor.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Mar 2021 16:12:28
Ed has there been a poll recently as to who people want for the head coaches job?
It would seem the club won’t be able to keep everyone happy with their option
Keane - hasn’t managed for over 10 years and was hardly successful
Maresca- only ever been a number 2
Howe- hasn’t managed a big club with expectations, people say he was homesick in Burnley .
Kennedy - culpable for this seasons problems and haven’t improved since he took over .

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - A poll of who's the best of the 4 candidates that you've just slagged off and dismissed, really?

29 Mar 2021 16:52:43
Maresca has no experience at top level management so ad have Keane before him, some want this boy maresca but you can hear the abuse if it goes south and it'll be why put a rookie in charge, on the other hand it might work who knows.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Mar 2021 16:57:21
No sure if you remember the movie Brewester's Millions. In the movie he joined an election campaign and his moto was none of the above. That is who I would vote for out of that lot.

Agree1 Disagree0

29 Mar 2021 16:59:06
That did sound like I was slagging them off but it wasn’t meant like that, I was generalising what fans have said about the rumoured candidates . My point was that not all the fans would be pleased whatever they do . I can’t see any other viable options for us, my preference would be Howe or maresca.

29 Mar 2021 20:42:23
Nay Vay Ed, a box on top of the box that took money? 😄

Where was your pal from Laighstonehall?

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Not quite, but he did live at the border. It was a wee box on the back and £1 gave you 3/4 hours viewing. We were dogging school drinkin' & smokin' watching bootleg imported videos of Tango & Cash and the original Turtles movie when the electricity meter reading guy turned up, we're all in the living room trying to get rid of the smell of "the smoke" and all we hear is the guy in the hall saying "Whit the f**k's this?" and it turned out he had pulled out the steel rod my mate's dad had drilled the underneath meter to put in - what a red neck for him that was!! 😂😂
One of my other mate's dad used a lollipop stick to stop the wee wheel for tuning - you don't get stuff like that that up there in your big fancy house eh Pedro, or at your holiday home?}

Anyone else think the sheep could be looking to split us and them next year if they get griff? With browny and him, with possibly a bit to prove next season as many including me have wanted an upgrade on them. Griff would undoubtedly be their main striker, where he isn’t or wouldn’t be next year . It could make the league a bit more interesting .

Believable1 Unbelievable0

29 Mar 2021 16:08:38
if griff is going to leave i would rather it was someone like Aberdeen for them to have a go helps Scottish football and hopefully help them get into Europe. a added bonus is the sheep can't stand the sevies either.

Agree1 Disagree0

29 Mar 2021 16:11:45
The rumours would suggest they're interested in LG, Quinn.

Personnally, it could be a good move for LG in terms of minutes on the park as I don't see him being anything more than a bench warmer for us and at 15K a week, the funds could be better spent elsewhere.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Mar 2021 16:23:23
Shayne Logan has signed a pre with Hearts for next year wonder if it's got anything to do with Broonie going to Aberdeen? LG for me is a great player I would not like to see him in any other Scottish team.

I'm pretty sure it's 41 years ago today since the last time both Celtic and Rangers played a home match on the same day.
Celtic won at home to Hibs.
Rangers and Aberdeen played out a draw at Ibrox.
Exactly 6 weeks later was the Hampden riot in the 1980 Scottish Cup Final.
The riot was probably the reason why both clubs playing at home at the same time, was stopped.

The most famous night they both played at home at the same time was in 1972.
Inter Milan and Rangers both got their revenge on Celtic and Bayern Munich after winning their Semi Final ties to progress to the Final.
It was only 5 years earlier that both Celtic and Bayern triumphed in European finals against their opponents.
There were 75,000 in attendance at Celtic Park when we lost on penalties to the Italians.
And there were also 80,000 at Ibrox to witness Bayern losing 2-0.

Haffey’s confidence was never ‘dented’ Aindoh: he was singing in the bath after the 9-3 game!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

29 Mar 2021 13:23:47
Scotland played a very inexperienced team that day with the average only being 5 Full international Caps.
It was only 5-3 with about 10 minutes to go before the Scottish collapse.
That was Frank Haffey’s last game for Scotland.
His only other Scotland Cap also came against England at Hampden the previous year.
It finished 1-1 and Haffey saved a penalty from Bobby Charlton.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Mar 2021 15:52:31
With regards to the 9-3 game in which Frank Haffey was made the scapegoat it’s worth pointing out that the two full backs that day were Caldow and Shearer of rangers the same two who played in the following games rangers v Spurs aggregate score 8-4, v eintracht aggregate score 12-4, v Celtic 1957 league cup final 7-1 tells you all you need to know.

It was about the very strong letter wrote by The Celts For Change 2021 for the benefit of our new CEO.
What's your thoughts on the contents of the letter and what changes will eventually be made?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

29 Mar 2021 13:39:36
Buzz, glad you enjoyed it. We felt it was perhaps more interesting to summarise it and have a brief discussion around the main issues rather than just read it out in its entirety.
As we were saying it doesn't bring anything new to the table and I guess their main message to Dom McKay and the rest of the Board is to shape up or ship out as the fans are tired with the deafening silence shown to the fans and the lack of quality custodianship they are showing for the club and everything it stands for. HH.

Agree with the above comments.

I'm really enjoying the Podcasts and it's great putting voices to names. Great job Ed, Paul and Besty - keep up the good work.

In terms of the letter to the board, this is the feck$n 21st Century and the Celtic supporters should no longer allow themselves to be treated as though we're still in the Victorian era.

The board exists to run the Club, the Club exists as a direct result of the supporters. The equation here is very simple 👌.

{Ed007's Note - Thanks, Pedro.}

29 Mar 2021 10:19:05
I know others have more patience and confidence in our management recruitment process than me; but I am beginning to worry, as to where this is all leading leading and if, - as reported - it is down to Keane, Howe and A N Other, there seems little excuse for this to be dragging into April, unresolved.
The gauntlet from Govan has been well and truly thrown down. Our European reputation is also in tatters. Then there's the small matters of the Captain leaving, loans expiring and several players heading for the exit. I appreciate there is still some of the current season remaining, but that takes us close to June, with qualifiers and the Summer transfer window close behind. Sort it out Celtic.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

29 Mar 2021 11:10:54
OAB2, your post makes a lot of sense as usual. I only hope we've got a competent D. O. F and Manager signed and ready to be announced with discussions on players (present squad and future signings) having already taken place.

If not, we'll again be starting a season on the back foot but, if I'm honest, my expectations as fas as the CL goes, are nil, given the present state of affairs.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Mar 2021 11:45:50
Everybody is hoping they grasp the opportunity to react in an ambitious manner. Nobody really believes that though. We all have the experience of a board who stood back and let a deed club overtake us. Try as I might to say, surely now we act, I can't quite believe we will. All the talk, and I remind myself it is just talk, of DD wanting his pal above other better candidates, hints that nothing has been learned. If they are going to show in Keane, then get it done. We don't have time. Make A decision and get on with it .

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Mar 2021 14:46:49
Personally I think we will be waiting till may/ June to appoint manager for 1 of 2 reasons, either the man we want is in a job and won't come till end of season or the man taking over wants this season out the way as its been a disaster and wants to work with players in pre season and try and turn a bad season around with his own players. The only problem I see is selling season tickets to some supporters on a trust us ticket. On a separate issue when does sfa need to notify for fans at euros as this will have a big impact going forward on our return next season surely,?

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Mar 2021 08:44:55
Ajer says after getting pumped off turkey 3-0 I need to be better at set pieces as he's at fault for a goal, no sh$t sherlock, good player poor defender always said that.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

29 Mar 2021 10:05:47
He has shown very little development and improvement in central defense although some his best performances for Celtic have been right back - especially moving forward. I don't know why he was switched from midfield to defense apart from maybe his height, as he is not particularly strong in the air and is a much better carrier of the ball with a long stride and a great engine. With Broony leaving I would have liked to see him as a defensive mid, but I can't see it?

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Mar 2021 10:06:46
Agree mally, shows heaps of ability but makes too many mistakes to be a top defender. Still believe he could play his best footy in a holding role.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Mar 2021 10:13:08
For a big guy ajer he is so poor in the air. Can't recall any headed goal he ever scored.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Mar 2021 10:32:28
Why has it taken him to have a nightmare game for Norway to say this. He has been causing us to lose goals all season, for a big guy he cannot defend.
Take the 8 million from Newcastle and spend that money on a decent centre half.
Hail Hail🍀🍀.

Agree1 Disagree0

29 Mar 2021 11:06:33
I like Ajer as a player and believe he brings something to the table but he's not a CB, never has been and never will be.

Like a few we've bought in recent years he's a big guy who doesn't punch his weight (Julian is another) and in Ajer's case he's been 'converted' to a Centre Half.

Whoever comes in as Manager has a desicion to make about Ajer's career at Celtic, it may come down to one of three options;

* play at RB
* play in midfield
* sold.

Agree1 Disagree0

29 Mar 2021 11:12:54
Mally that comment from the big man is most comical if we hadn't witnessed so many defensive blunders particularly from our CB's this disastrous season.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Mar 2021 11:18:21
Look at the last sevco game easily out jumped and he's 6.5 in height and that's been all season.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Mar 2021 11:21:05
Ter, I'm baffled that we have guy's the height of Ajer and Julian that are so bad in the air.

Not comparing ability (obviously) but I'm pretty sure the former greats, both CB's of AC Milan and Barcelona were both under 6ft (Baresi and Puyol) .

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Mar 2021 11:51:11
Ajer isn't a natural CB. it shows so often. The fact he is one of our best at that position, only highlights how woeful the others are. Our defence isn't a defence. It's just a bunch of guys who can't win a ball in the air and as long as that continues we will keep on getting worse. Teams getting a set piece anywhere near our goal is like awarding them a penalty. That needs to change.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Mar 2021 13:06:44
I think if we keep ajer DM would be his best position. If u include him Julien another good CH and someone like Shaun Roooney of St. Johnstone as an example who is good in the air and loves a battle we suddenly have a bigger stronger team. Potentially Welsh and Hendry as back up it doesn't look so bad. Set pieces would improve and we can bully teams more when we have too.

Agree1 Disagree0

29 Mar 2021 15:33:50
Agree Raymond we need a stronger and more physical presence especially in defence but I can't see Hendry being here next season and based on the last two Scotland games, he shouldn't even make the bench.

Personally I'm looking for 2 new CB's with possibly Julian on the bench or to be sold and a 3rd to come in as back up along with young Welsh.

Has Bobo Balde got a nephew or young cousin oot there?
