If and it looks like this Board believe in it.

That we must get value for money

So let's just look at the players we moved OUT last season and this, I make it about 10 players (although as people on here know my arithmetic sometimes is not the best)
I know some of them were not on big wages but 2/ 3 were, adding them all up we must have cut wage bill by £100k yearly, and brought in minimum £15m
Every season recently we have brought in more than we spent.
So surely Board can use our wages sved on three high profile players on £35k (that seems to be our top wage ceiling)
Most fans would be content with 3 five million pounds signings, that seems to be what clubs are quoting us anyway. Do this and we still do not break the bank.

We signed Iadh for £9m and Trusty for £6m and most fans are not happy with these signings. Fans only seem to think a manager has been backed when signings turn out well but forget about the millions spent on the signings that haven't worked out!

Idah goal ratio for mins (BB) isn't bad, Engels had a great 1st half of the season then petered away like most after new year apart from Maeda. Trusty for me is a no so a would say signings have been good so i am trying to stay calm.

Transfer fees aren't the problem it's the quality of the player being purchased ie for a million I believe we've got good quality in mgowan but at 3.5 have we the same in Bernardo? Then scales 1 million compared to 6 million trusty . which one is better? Big spends 11 million Engles 9 million Idah . are they they quality reqd for that outlay? Could we have bought one top class striker for 20 million or same for a midfielder or any combinations of players for that 20 million . then there's the yangs kwons tillios etc not needed but money wasted although not a great deal but it could have been spent on better quality. so as I said it's not the fees nor even the amount the board are spending it's the recruitment of quality that's the problem and that needs an overhaul from the manager coaching staff to all the scouts are they all singing from the same hymn sheet? bottom line we Need better quality and more consistent recruitment.

Chris Sutton cost us £6m. Allowing for inflation he’d be £12million now. I doubt you’d get someone as good as Sutton was for anywhere near that. We have to take risks with untested talent or we’ll run out of money fast.

{Ed007's Note - There were Celtic fans at the time that said Sutton was a poor buy because of his year at Chelsea.}

Buck stops with the manager with regards to the quality of signings!

Last season minutes played -
Idah accumulated just less than 30 games minutes wise and he scored 20 goals.
That’s a decent one goal in just less than 1.5 games.

I still don’t think he’s good enough to be our 1st choice striker.
But it will be good if he can keep his one goal in every 1.5 games average as our impact striker off the bench.

Bhoy88

Bollocks.

How is Bhoy88 wrong there JFP? Rodgers even said so himself, even last week. He is in charge of signings and has the final say, that obviously includes quality of the players.
