Im not convinced in the appointment of Nancy at all. I will back him but he simply has no grace period. He will realise very quickly the pressure here is like nowhere else.
If he flops i'm ok with him, it won't be on him but one thing i really want to see from him and that is he will not be another yes man for DD.

Because of injuries and bad recruitment he's inheriting a rubbishshow, so he'll need patience.

Does any manager we hire get a grace period?
24 Nov 2025 18:58:57
I think of the young managers doing well down south, ie Crystal Palace, Brighton, Bournemouth etc so although it's another cheap choice from the Board (I'm happy to be corrected but other than BR, Celtic have opted for the cheap option over the last decade or so) , I'll try and adopt a glass half full mentality.
It's hard though as as a club, we're rotten to the core.

The board will be getting the blame if he flops as they are the ones that will appoint him and it is a risky strategy as he has never managed at this level.

I wonder who of the back room he is bringing
Head coach Wilfried Nancy
Assistant coach Kwame Ampadu
Assistant coach Yoann Damet
Goalkeeping coach Phil Boerger
Fitness coach Jules Gueguen
Video performance coach Maxime Chalier
Technical director Marc Nicholl
Ampadu looks the best pedigree - former Monaco assistant under Niko Kovac.
I will back this to the hilt as I reckon the French connection will work here.

Like it did with Paul le Guen at Rangers?

Spot on wee Joe….
Nothing against French in the job…. just Not that group of inexperienced non achievers…
If DD wants to ramp up the sh@t show…. Then he we go.

He may be a great appointment celtic65 but it is a big risk as he is untested. There is not many top class french manager who have done well in the UK.
Wenger, houllier and tigana?

To be fair, Paul le Guen was a very good coach when he went to them.
He had a huge reputation of developing young players and had won 3 titles in a row at Lyon.
The problem was the same as Ronnie had here and that he had to deal with certain players who thought that they were more important than the manager.
