Many years ago, when Rodgers was at Liverpool, an Italian friend (Juve Fanatic) told me that Rodgers has no tactics.
In his 2nd spell with us, he played possession football, but there was little end product. He employed wingers, but if the wingers were ineffective, so was the team.
Rodgers was also in place for the 3 worst drubbings we've had in Europe, all 7 goal thrashings. Basically, he never adapted!
It was no secret that he'd would have left at the end of this season regardless. Given that, would you have invested heavily in him?
With MON, he's got a solid 4 in the middle and wants his fullbacks to go up and down the line. Gets the ball forward quickly and let the players work out the chances. He's working out the best line up based on what he sees up close.
Just the performances alone speaks volumes. None of the players are MONs, but I'd love to see what he would have brought in come January. Mon would have strengthened where he sees us weak, and it may not be in the positions we all think need strengthened. Unfortunately, that's just a pipe dream.
The new manager will be the same as MON in that he will need to see what he's got. His preferred playing style may differ and the players to do that may not be there.
He may have some players in mind regardless of what's already there, but this is normal. Managers do have a favourite type of player, and not always a fan favourite. However, he starts with what's there, and may not get the same out of them as MON. So, we may have to lose to eventually win!
Pre-Jock Stein, we were rubbish, but at least 8 of the players who won the European Cup little over two years after he came were already at Celtic Park. Different times, yes, but history should never be ignored.
What I'm saying is give the new guy a chance!

You are right AP, Brendan must be one of the most overrated managers ever, the guy is a charlatan.

I was saying this about Rodgers 6 months ago! Small world AP as I'm also a huge Juve fan. Infact I'm in Turin at the moment. I was at the Juve - Cagliari match on Saturday night. I'm also going to the Udinese game tonight?.

He has been very successful for a manager with no tactics. ?.

Whoever and whenever the next manager comes in, I pray he's half as successful as BR has been in both spells at Celtic. ?
It's not a popularity contest, it's about winning games and hopefully playing attractive, attacking football into the bargain.
I've never read so much crap.

Juve, 'the old lady',
a club with a history of cheating.

Never understood this nonsense about being a "huge" fan of another club.
Usually the mindset of a glory hunter.
While I can admire other clubs style of football, players etc there is only one club for me until I shift off this mortal coil.
CELTIC.
