Apparently Ange has said of Mikey Johnston; 'he needs to be able to match the other guys in his position'.

Hmm, I'm all for motivating the players but if those 'other guys' are Jota and Abada, then there's more chance of me jumping out of the window and going up the way.

When you add Forrest and Maeda to the 'wide-player' equation, it makes it all the more difficult. Like everyone else, I was hoping he would have made the breakthrough before now, but he has been on the fringe since his debut under the 'Leicester manager' in 2017 and often flatters to deceive. Maybe a loan-out to give him a regular run of games (as long as he can avoid more injuries? ) , would help all concerned as he is still only 23 and that worked for Christie?

OAB - aye - and just like Christie he regulary scores more than Gavin Hastings.

There is no doubt in my mind Mikey has talent - he just doesn't seem to know what to do with it at times. He over complicates the simple too often, misses the easy pass, takes on too many people, wants to be the star 100% of the time, has 50p shaped Adidas boots on when shooting and makes more bad decisions than Neville Chamberlain in '39. Apart from that I rate him. having more tricks in your bag than Penn and Teller does not a player make I'm afraid. Conversely when asked who is the most skillful player in the squad then Mikey is never too far away. He needs a mentor with a massive size nine at his disposal, and a willingness to use it - Harry Kewall?

The loan deal would be the ideal solution for him as you stated.

Technically he can match these boys. He just seems to be in a constant loop of being injured. Then when he gets game time, tries to hard always plays with head down, trying to beat whole team. A season loan is a good option.

Strange how even when he’s played well, kept his head down and done nothing wrong Celtic fans still want to post snide comments about the bhoy.

when’s he played well Vin1, a don’t think Stubbsies assessment is too far off the mark. abada is 19/ 20 in a new country new team and had a fantastic debut season, but yet we are all still waiting on mikey fulfilling this potential.
The sign of a bad player is the 1 that makes the same mistakes over and over again!

08 Jul 2022 16:33:30
Stubbsie you have summed him up perfectly in my eyes I think a lesser team would be more acceptable for him even for a season loan get him game time and perhaps the penny will drop with him And also show him there is no I in team.

Fiver in the post Campsie.

Vin1 - there is nothing snide about the truth kid. Incase you missed it it was also noted that the lad has the talent, has been recognised as having that by his peers and that given the correct guidance he can still make an impact. Maybe I'm an eternal opptomist but I still think he can make the grade if he "catches on". But will he?

Sensei Angelos has spoken that he still has to come up to the mark, even after all the time and chances he has had. Now you wouldn't dare call Angelos a snide - would you?

Peace.

Mickey has had more chances than he deserved. He needed to put muscle mass on as a fart woukd knock him over. He gets clattered he’s out for months. His decision maki g is woeful. He holds onto the ball too long, his final pass is usually off a defender. He doesn’t look up to see where everyone is until he’s surrounded. There is no questioning he has ability, but until he learns how to use it he will never reach a level that we could use him. Another highly rated Academy player who just couldn’t cut it. They are legion.

When he's played well there's still snide commments? he's not played well for about 3 years. Has a massive amount of work to do and needs to also stay fit. I think a loan would be beneficial but wouldn't be too bothered if he left permanently.

08 Jul 2022 17:20:09
He's not a young boy and sill makes wrong decisions, his physique is suspect as well, he eexs to bulk up and it can be done, but am not sure he wants t enough, hope am wrong, he's definitely got technique but u need more.

08 Jul 2022 17:36:36
Time for him to go.
His style is like Brill Brill Brill then his final decision garbage most of the time.

On another note julien has 2 years left on his contract. Who sanctioned that extra year.

Vin, name me 3 no you better make it 2 games where he has played well.
You will be saying the same about him when he is 28.
