Would just like to congratulate Ed007 on his 2-1 Iceland prediction in the correct score competition. I shamefully took 2-0 England.

Believable2 Unbelievable1

{Ed007's Note - Did I? I knew I wouldn't have taken them to win but I'm surprised I didn't say 19-0 :=D

Iceland and Wales are good outside bets. Greece done it i think 2006.

Glad u think so mate av got Iceland each way. Only £2 e/ w at 66-1 a put it on during a match when they were one nil up but still better than a kick in the nuts.

Brendan Rodgers 16-1 for the English job he was 2-1 before we got him and spoke to the fa about taking over after Hodgson.

Bennybhoy the papers will probably say he also turned down the chance to replace CONTE as ITALY boss too lol. (Even though they have already chosen a replacement lol. ) The way the media go on about him i'm surprised they haven't said Pep Guardiola just pipped him for the Man City job too lol.

Brendan Rodgers quoted as 16/ 1 to be next england manager.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

27 Jun 2016 22:47:21
If he puts James Forrest on a contract he can go to England and I'll pay his taxi fare

If he does move on and we end up with ( say ) Jackie McNamara I'd be wanting my season ticket money back!

Agree3 Disagree0

28 Jun 2016 00:23:59
Paradisewon its not often we agree but i'm in full support of your view with Forrest. There was for first time in a long time a vast majority of fans united in appointment of a manager. i'm starting to think he will be another puppet on a short string. Why? Well John Park is still here and i'm thinking appointment of Rodgers was just to put season tickets sales fully sold out.

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Jun 2016 22:20:07
Hodgson resigns
Do you think this might be a temptation for BR to go for England job Ed? I bet his name appears despite the fact he has just taken over at Parkhead.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - No chance mate, he was interested in the England job and knew it was coming up when Celtic approached him. I'm sure I mentioned when I first said about Rodgers saying the job was his and the England job or a job in Spain were his other options/preferences.}

27 Jun 2016 22:35:19
Was he not sounded out for the England job before Roy got the job,?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I've no idea but you're probably right.}

27 Jun 2016 22:52:21
A story broke in the media the other day that Hodgson wasn't happy that Rodgers had been spoken to by the FA while he was still in the england job, the talks took place not long before Rodgers became Celtic boss.

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Jun 2016 23:21:55
Despite the pay been grossly over the top, the England manager's job is one of the worse jobs in European Football. No young manager that had any wit would touch it with a barge pole .
No success since 1966 doesn't make the job any less pressurised . English media and English vastly over rate their players and demand success, I. e winning either Euroes, or World Cup.

Raheem Sterling- £44 million .

Believable0 Unbelievable0

27 Jun 2016 22:19:10
I hear BR wants to bring him up north with Celtic covering 10 % of his wages ( so £25000 then) . Can't take corners mind you but a decent impact sub.

Agree1 Disagree0

27 Jun 2016 23:26:36
Agreed Aindoh m although I think there success to date is more to do with the tactical set- up and players adhering to their instructions and working their legs off .
You can't expect players earning £100k a week and some far more, to work as hard as more sensibly paid footballers who still have a hunger.

Agree0 Disagree1

28 Jun 2016 17:03:47

My other half is English therefore both my kids half English. I got a right ticking off for giving a yelp at Icelands 2nd goal but do u know what here's the thing.

Rio Ferdinand celebrated live on tv at "only facing Iceland" and Gaby Logan pitched on tv to Gary Cahill "this must be like preparing for an FA cup 3rd round tie". Well i'm sorry but i hope you enjoy your humble pie and you have both (along with numerous other media outlets) done what you do best!

Well done the underdogs, written off, part time, no hopers, not of the same class as the mighty. Enjoy your night you deserve it!

Iceland 2 Firm-Fuds1 The dick of a commentator was so patronising and condescending about the Icelandic players and who they played for and how small their country is.
It's no wonder everyone wants England to lose every game. It's like a re-run every two years no matter who manages and plays for them - piss easy qualifiers, diddy group stage and premature exit in disgrace and disarray.
The referee was shockingly biased as well but that couldn't even help their case.
Hodgeson's luck finally ran out and although they have a few good players, there are far too many that think they are a lot better than they are and are brainwashed with the EPL hype and SLY propaganda.

Did anyone see a list of who travelled to Slovenia? I think I saw a pic of Darnell Fisher there, but was wondering if Cifti, or Scepovic are there.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - I've not seen who travelled yet but Deportivo la Coruna are looking to sign Scepovic with the story being his agent met Deportivo owner Amancio Ortega at the weekend. A guy that knocked Bill Gates off his perch as the world's richest man for a while last year wants to sign Scepovic for his team! The guy makes DD look like one of Wee Pat's drinking cronies, not that it'll make any difference to the fee we get lol.}

Well played Italia, very deserved winners.
Conte has put together one of the best footballing Italy teams I've ever seen, with very few Super-stars, as you would say.
Thought the referee was very pro Spain and 'Fibre-Gas' was his usual wee cheating self but the Italians were superb and De Gea saved Spain from a hammering.

Believable0 Unbelievable1

{Ed007's Note - I'm no great fan of Italian football but I'm always happy to see Spain being took down a peg or two.}

27 Jun 2016 19:42:40
thote the ref was total garbadge some of the decisions were brutal.

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Jun 2016 19:27:56
ED007 what about Messi "retiring" because Argentina cannot win him a trophy, how dare they, poor Messi.
But maybe Lionel should look at the attitude of Bale when he wears the shirt of his country and maybe Messi should ask himself has HE shown the same desire and attitude.

Agree2 Disagree1

{Ed007's Note - Messi and Argentina have always had a love-hate relationship, Timbo because a large majority don't consider him Argentinian or 'Argentinian enough' and even though he turned down the chance to play for Spain they call him 'The Catalan' - that includes people in the Argentinian FA and a good few of the players over the years. There's been occasions in the past even at league matches when pictures of Messi on the screens have been booed until the pictures are taken down. It's calmed down over the last couple of years but it got a bit hairy at times when Messi was younger and on international duty. Messi has always struggled to ingratiate himself in the Argentinian squad and doesn't like that he doesn't have the same power behind the scenes as he enjoys at Barca.
At least now I can get back to cheering on Argentina in the next World Cup! :=D
Gareth Bale has shown what a real superstar player does, drags his country to success at these tournaments, it shows the difference of having just one really top drawer player - Sweden with Ibrahimovic being another - can make to what would only be a decent/tidy side. I'm not putting Robbie Keane in that bracket but the ROI have been missing him for years now and it showed again in France.
Bale is also a perfect example of how much a player can improve if he leaves the EPL and gets some top quality coaching, until Bale went to Madrid he relied far too much on his pace but he has learnt so much and came on leaps and bounds at Madrid.}

27 Jun 2016 16:14:37
Does anybody on here know much about the Millwall guy Lee Gregory, apparently on offer for about £2m. He played with Vardy at Halifax and apparently has enough about him to play at a higher level.
Anyone following the League 1 in England have an opinion on him?

Believable0 Unbelievable2

27 Jun 2016 17:55:19
Millwall have knocked back 3 million bids from derby and Rotherham, these are 2 of the best financed and progressive sides in the championship, so there is something there, their manager has said he is not for sale at any price, I am not sure, but I think he scored 27 in total last season.

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Jun 2016 20:07:17
Is this guy going to make us progress in Europe?

Never seen him play but League 1 surely can't be the level of striker we go for, especially for a 27 year old

As I type Iceland have equalised 🙌🙌🙌.

27 Jun 2016 23:26:04

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Jun 2016 13:31:30
The Dembele situation is that if he goes abroad a small fee will be required under uefa rules on developing young players however if he goes to a epl team a tribunal will set the fee and it is payable in one sum immediately. why is everyone going on about Toure being great he has done nothing for years he is fat slow and old have we not yet learned that old players coming north only do so for the last big pay day not to work hard and win things in europe. The facts about Simonvic are he does not want to be here so why are you again putting all our hopes on an unproven 21 year old who has played less that 20 games for us. If you want a very good CB try Badasuber at Bayern Munich available for a few millon and only 27.

Believable0 Unbelievable2

27 Jun 2016 13:44:50
Jonace, how do we know Siminonvic wants to leave . I haven't heard any rumour of him not been happy . I thought he had played a number of games with a broken bone .
I would be disappointed if he was availing of our rehab. unit and then wanting to leave.

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Jun 2016 14:24:06
You haven't watched very much of toure if you think he's slow.

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Jun 2016 15:27:38
I'd be hoping for better than Toure but certainly think he could do a job. Longer term I've got high hopes for Jozo though. Badstuber would be vetter than Toure but perhaps a step too far for us?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Have you watched any Poland games at the Euros? Michał Pazdan is available from Legia Warsaw for around £2.5m and would be an ideal signing for us. He's better than Ambrose and Boyata, he's 28 and got experience of playing at a top team in his country, wages shouldn't be a problem and if Simunovic struggles for fitness this season we're not relying on a 35 year old Toure to stay fit also.
The only problem I can see is would Legia Warsaw do business with us?}

27 Jun 2016 16:54:37
I posted a few weeks back that in January simunovic wanted to leave but couldn't as Zagreb wouldn't pay and he'd played for 2 clubs not sure where I heard it mind you but it made sense
The pole has looked good and ticks the boxes price wage etc but sell on? Not sure if he would've been on the radar
Is badstuber not suffering from a chronic injury.

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Jun 2016 17:31:44
I've watched every game Ed. Sad act that I am.

Pazdan has been impressive. Noted that myself. Haven't seen anything of him at club level, but based on the Euros, I'd have him. Based on the Euros though I'd have McGovern back! Been impressed with Glik next to him too mind and the Iceland CB Arnason but they're a bit older.

There's been a few Legia players suggested on here, but no, I couldn't imagine them doing business with us at all.

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Jun 2016 23:35:11
Could we not get a team from Govan buy the Legia Warsaw player and we could give them £10 profit and Dave King would break our arm for the tenner.

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Jun 2016 13:22:26
I am doing my extra time bets again today in both Euro 2016 games.
Spain win extra time 10/ 1, penalties 8/ 1. Italy extra time 18/ 1, penalties 10/ 1
England Extra time 10/ 1, penalties 8/ 1. Iceland extra time 33/ 1, penalties 10/ 1.

Believable0 Unbelievable1

27 Jun 2016 15:30:46
Bit of a strange approach for me that Timalloy but I can see where you're coming from given how some of the games so far have went. I hope the right one comes in for you. Iceland in extra time ideally. Not much room for profit with the others putting 8 bets on.

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Jun 2016 16:22:12
JimTim on Saturday 2 of the games went to extra time and I made a nice profit.
As long as games go to extra time a profit is guaranteed no matter the result.
Example 4 £10 bets placed on England game at 10/ 1,8/ 1, 33/ 1 and 10/ 1 total outlay £40 as long as game enters extra time and you bet on all 4 outcomes minimum winnings is £90, and if Iceland miraculously win in extra time well £340 comes your way
Yes it is a gamble hoping for extra time or penalties, but believe me as tourney goes on extra time will play a big big part.

Agree0 Disagree1

27 Jun 2016 09:52:37
morning fellow posters and readers, its now the end of the transfer window and we have brought in, kolo, allen, sinclair and dembele, would you be happy with these signings?, personally i would as i feel they would walk into our starting 11, which is what we need, looking forward to your replys, can i have your opinion also Ed?

Believable0 Unbelievable2

{Ed007's Note - Apart from Dembele I wouldn't have any of them. We never had a chance of signing Joe Allen, that was just as preposterous as the Danny Ings talk.}

27 Jun 2016 12:36:25
Dembele yes

sinclair maybe but would have elyounoussi if the fee of about 3 million is to be believed

I would have Joe ledley before Allen if we're looking to spend a bit

The lad from Iceland bjarnasson has impressed me from the euros and just read the Thomas delaney rumour surfacing again

Cb is a mystery cause if fit Jozo and Erik are probably first choice so no need throwing wages out the window on kolo.

Agree0 Disagree1

27 Jun 2016 13:08:29
Ed, do you know if there is any substance in the Dembele rumours?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Yes but it's a very slim chance of happening. It's hard to gauge the interest of other teams because everybody and their dog have watched him. Ed001 says that Liverpool have been tracking him for years. It did look like he was going to Spurs as the season was finishing up and I'd say they're still favourites to land him.}

27 Jun 2016 13:51:29
Seems like Rodgers is waiting on getting through CL qualification before buying and waiting on the better budget this will bring. I think that can only explain our inactivity in the transfer market. Who knows? we can only wait and hope we bring in a bit of class.

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Jun 2016 17:14:45
Stranger things have happened I'm sure but I'd imagine we'll need to act quickly and just hope he sees himself as needing to to learn a bit more and develop unlike a lot of young players these days who think they're superstars.

Ed is there any truth in the rumours about kolo toure? He's much better than boyata and ambrose by has lost a step but reads a game well!

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - If the Club will cough up the cash he'll be seen as a stop gap until Simunovic is fit.}

27 Jun 2016 00:23:11
He's. Better than any cb at our club remember he played for Liverpool last season and threw they're europa league campaign 35 yes but Larsson was 36 at Manu lubo 33 when he sign for us very experienced player would love him to sign for a year or two.

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Jun 2016 08:48:23
I've been bangin on about an experienced CB who has played at top level for a while. So I'd rather have Kolo than nobody like that at all. Could certainly do a job at home and abroad for a couple seasons.

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Jun 2016 09:55:17
I think sviachenko will be our number 1 CB even if we sign toure! He's as leader and has a lot of presence for his height!

27 Jun 2016 10:31:30
thinking like you SOS, reminds me of mjallby a bit.

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Jun 2016 07:20:40
I think it would be a smart move to sign Kolo. Brings much needed big game experience and leadership qualities. I'd feel a lot more confident about the qualifiers with him and Erik at the back rather than Mulgrew, Boyata or Ambrose! You think we might see a new signing by the end of the week Ed?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I'd rather have Boyata than Toure, did you watch any Livrerpool games? I don't like putting a time scale on things because it usually just blows up in your face and I can't be arsed with all the 'You said...' posts.}

27 Jun 2016 09:16:59
Might be a long stop gap then ED! lol. will we ever see the big man being fit on a regular basis! So there's truth in this toure story ED? Thought it mite have just been BS! Keep hearing this Shane Duffy being mentioned to mate, u heard anything?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - They're both possibilities but as far as I know there's been no official approach to Blackburn for Duffy and all we are is one of clubs who are interested in Toure but there's been no offer made to him yet either}

27 Jun 2016 10:19:08
Hi ed
Do you have any idea how far Simunovic is away from fitness.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Not got a clue mate.}

27 Jun 2016 12:53:21
Ticbhoy, re : Simunovic, Rodgers said the other day Simunovic has still got a lot of work to do to get back to full fitness, and that he's not anywhere near being ready to start training yet.

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Jun 2016 13:33:00
I did indeed Ed and I thought he was tremendous towards the end of the season, especially in the Europa League. You don't have a CV like his unless you are a good player. I think he's exactly what we need.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Really? I spent most of the season pissing myself laughing at Liverpool's defence as their season fell apart again. You don't have a CV like his unless you WERE a good player.
