I think Brendan has got to be given some serious funds this summer, and wee need to get rid of some of the dead wood, ie Boyata, Simunovic, bitton, Gamboa and possibly lustig, love the big man though and has been a great for the club.

Positions required wee all know what wee need gl, cb and rb, a no nonsense cb and a right back in the same mould as Tierney.

If wee get the defence sorted I think wee can go places next year and definitely be better in Europe.

What can I say about Scott brown though wee are going to find it hard to replace him, under Rodgers he has transformed into the player I always thought he should be. he has been immense since Rodgers came.

We have had a great result . An exciting game with many player missing and with the officials do their damnes . Surely we can bathe in this glorious excitement and worry about team buildings another week .
Enjoy days like Sunday, we mightn't always have them .
We survived the 1990's with very little to get excited about.

The only reason it was a tight game was because our defence is a shambles which should have been fixed three windows ago. Sitting back and enjoying the moment has been our downfall for decades. We know what needs to be done that will ensure many more great days. It is the professional thing to do to continually improve. The defence have had enough chances. They can’t keep weans out of a close, even in the spfl.

We require CL money to leave Sevco in our wake. To achieve that we need to plan to get players in, not projects. We do that and humiliating defeats will be reduced. Boyata sold the jerseys against Bayern and tried to do the same on Sunday. Times up. It was up three windows ago. Rogers needs to fix our Achilles heel or any hopes of being a competitive CL team are utter fantasy,

We can and should dominate well beyond 10. That requires a defence worthy of the name. Broony can’t dig them out every time. KT and possibly Ajer are two of the four. With back up required we still need three quality defenders. Comparre isn’t the answer either.

Four CL qualifiers require action now to identify targets. Sitting about basking has cost us many times. We can do both, fix the defence and even more basking happens, don’t and we will be sitting once again lamenting another opportunity to bury Rangers and having a go in the CL.

Sunday showed Rogers he has waited too long. They could have drawn and the boost that would have given them would have been massive. When every team in the spfl know they can get at our defence, it tells you it’s not fit for purpose.

Boyata energised them and every team we play. Enough. I’m loving the moment, but greedy for the increased amounts of times this could happen. Sorting our defence and GK will ensure that. That process should already have started before Sunday, after Sunday, it is even more evident that what already needed to be done, now has to be done.

RB is number one priority with Gamboa and Lustig at the World Cup. But I'd hope we can move the deadwood on quickly as I can't see the board buying and CB until we sell who we don't want. Will be the usual biscuit tin approach waiting to discover our European fate before sanctioning transfers.

They are our future let them gel, make mistakes, you never know they could become a solid back 4.

Bigsammy, Izzy had agreed to stay another year or two . BR was annoyed when Izzy said because of problems with his wife and children in England, he had to move .
Brendan was annoyed and angry as he thought he had cover at left back but was finding out near the end of the window he hadn't .
I don't understand your worry.

What a wonderful excitement we can have if Football is played in right spirit . Rangers and Celtic shared 4 goals in the first half . Celtic mostly on top and committed very few fouls in opening half . Rangers fouled with impunity Referee Mc Collum pointed out his badge to show he was ref and might start refereeing at any stage . Not before Declan John, was laughing from ear to ear because he had committed two red card tackles that Willy didn't give a free for .
Second half the Tory MP, assistant on Sunday showed it wasn't only gypsies that he didn't like but also Celtic. Jozo was sent backing and Willy suddenly remembered that he hadn't given many fouls against Celtic and their first card was the red . From that to the finish he tried to give a free to Rangers and a yellow card to Celtic everytime Celtic went for a tackle .

I posted after the game that Celtic should protest - or at least challenge - these biased/ incompetent officials as the video evidence is obviously damning of their piss poor performances and decisions.
I have lost count of the times guys like KT and Forrest have been blatantly kicked by opposing players, while blind eyes were turned.
Don't leave it to appear as sour grapes after defeat, but highlight it every time until there is no hiding place for the establishment.

13 Mar 2018 23:42:52
You are right, now is the time to make a loud complaint .
Last week I think it was Kev 83 who said Collum wasn't the worse .
I don't think I have ever seen as corrupt . He was at it every way, red card tackles from them, no foul given, pulling Celtic tops continuously without a free . Every time we challenged it was a free against us .
He even got in our face when we were celebrating a goal .

Agree6 Disagree1

14 Mar 2018 07:49:07
Old man Collum isn't the worse not by a long shot. Dallas beaton and Madden are all worse than Collum
Collum is a very poor ref.
But the red card was a red card.
Some of the ones he let go were terrible yes
But everytime a ref is rotten we hear that's the worst I've ever seen.
That wasn't the worst by a long shot.

Things like Johnny Doyle getting sent off for crossing the ball and hitting the ref
I was there went cadetes goal got chopped off and cost us big time
I was there when Vidukas goal got chopped off for nothing.
Was there when Dallas helped them win the league at parkhead
Then the dougie McDonald and assistants get caught lying when we played Dundee Utd.
The weekend was no where near the worse.

Kev 83. I saw all that you have listed all 5 over a twenty or twenty five year period and to be fair you could have mentioned two or three times more over the same period of time and you wouldn't have mentioned half of them .
Those you mentioned does nothing to prove the incompetence or the bias of Willie Collum .
I have never trusted Collum since he gave a pen for a decision behind his back . The decision that he used the eyes in the back of the head .
You say Jozo deserved a red card . But did he, the first card that Celtic received in an hour, so a well descipliined team . In that space of time Rangers deserved at least 3 red cards . In the circumstances of the match Jozo was unlucky .
As soon as he sent Jozo off Collum went on the offensive against Celtic, every coming together was a free to Rangers and maybe a card . Collum knew the statistics didn't back up a card .
From start to finish Rangers through themselves to the ground diving and got away with it . Anyone Celtic fan who thinks Collum wasn't corrupt on Sunday mustn't been at the match in sound mind.

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Mar 2018 07:25:36
I never argued that fact. What I argue that I have seen worse after you said you didn't think you had seen as corrupt.
I still don't think he is by the way. He is pish poor ref. But there IMO there are worse and real corrupt refs in our league right now. Mainly the 3 I named above.

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Mar 2018 22:04:48
You are entitled to you point, but a historic review of refereeing decisions doesn't mean a lot . Are those three practicing corruption as referees in 2018 .?
If you want to make lists of corrupt referees you don't have to go into previous decades we. Have numerous current corrupt referees . I, almost doting, am not going to list all the current corrupt referees, but I will mention in no particular order Madden, Collum, Thompson and Dallas Og .
We hear the experts on TV say all we want is consistency and these refs and others are consistent in not awarding frees to Celtic and making decisions against Celtic.

Ed what is the situation with Edouard's option to buy? Is the figure actually £7m? Even though I like the player and think he will get better and better I think that would be a hell of a lot of money for a relatively unproven player! Even half that figure seems quite a lot. I reckon £2m-£3m would be a more realistic figure.

Believable5 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - £2-3 million when we've spunked £3 million on garbage like Pukki and both Stefan Scepovic and Bangura for about £2.5 million? It's PSG we're dealing with here, £2-3 million won't even cover what Edouard's contract with them. The fee is 8 million Euros but I wouldn't be surprised if Celtic try and extend the loan (and renegotiate the fee) for another season into summer 2019 and by then Edouard will be in the last year of his contract. Like Roberts at City, Edouard doesn't seem to have much future at PSG.}

13 Mar 2018 19:43:45
Yeah I get what you’re saying Ed. I know you get much for £3m these days I just don’t think that fee is justified for a kid that has not made many senior appearances. Another loan could be a good shout to see him progress further. On the subject of Roberts I think this summer it will be obvious he has no future at City. Do you think Roberts sees himself signing permanently with us or do you think he’ll want to move to a Southampton or Crystal Palace type premiership club Ed?

Agree6 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Roberts still holds onto the hope that he can get a crack at the City first team so City will need to make it abundantly clear that his time's up or Roberts will just look for another loan. If Celtic can agree a fee with City I think we would have a great chance of signing him permanently. Winning trophies and especially playing in the CL is a big pull, add in playing for Rodgers in front of our fans and the fact there's no need to settle at a new club or city with new team mates etc, oh and KT's here :)

13 Mar 2018 19:47:50
I really like that idea ED; The big fella has really impressed me with what he has done with limited opportunities and although Roberts has had an injury ruined season, I would hope to see him stick around - as on his game, he is a great attacking option and entertainer.
I realize that the defense and goalkeeper is our priority in the summer, but if the rumours of Armstrong and Rogic possibly moving on and the usual speculation over Dembele, I would hope keep both forwards and add accordingly, if and when we lose player (s) .
Footnote:- Where do you see Christie's future as he has been away for two seasons now and I would hate to see him leaving for good?

Agree3 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Rodgers has already said that Christie will be brought back in the summer and given the chance earn a new deal as his contract runs out next year.}

13 Mar 2018 23:20:05
I don’t see why people think £7m is so steep for Edouard. He’s shown flashes of real talent on an inconsistent basis, which is what you get with teenagers, otherwise PSG would be playing him and not forking our £150m on one of the few teenagers who are consistent at a high level. Dembele has shown inconsistency this season yet in January most of us ridiculed a rumoured transfer offer of £18m.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Mar 2018 23:47:57
I agree another loan makes sense if PSG are up for it .
I don't think if we want the player we should haggle too much, as it might set a good precedence that when we loan a player with a view to buying, we are reasonably good at keeping our word .
I would rather give the £7-8m for him than another young wiz kid who may not settle or perform up in Scotland . We know what we are getting.

Agree1 Disagree0

13 Mar 2018 13:36:59
If Celtic want to progress I think we are only missing another CB and a first team centreback that doesn't warrant mistakes. Ajer will be a certain started and will only improve so bed him in. A keeper a right back and centre back are priority for me. Boyata and Simunovic now aren't exactly what I'd say is progress for us and there is better out there.

13 Mar 2018 13:54:17

Still think there's a player in Simunovic. Boyata needs punted asap, my arse twitches like a rabbit's nose every time he passes a ball across that back line 🐰👀.

Agree2 Disagree1

13 Mar 2018 19:54:25
Somehow, Simunovic has went backwards this season and has made a lot of mistakes and errors of judgement in big games too.
He looked to have formed a decent partnership with Boyata last season, but between injury absences and form lapses, they have really fell away, Boyata is even worse than Efe for mistakes these days; although it has given Ajer the chance to shine.
Hendry and Compper are still untested, so maybe they will emerge?

Agree1 Disagree0

13 Mar 2018 23:30:02
So he is gordo forgot mate.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Mar 2018 23:53:42
I know many blame Boyata for many things but I think it's a bit much blaming Boyata for the weaknesses of your arse .

I think our main problem is because of injury and lack of form we have had too many different partnerships at centre back . Why not go with the German guy and Ajer and hope we get a wee run of the two of them.

Agree0 Disagree2

13 Mar 2018 11:26:55
I know this has been said a lot but having watched the highlights of the game again and in particular the reaction at the end of the game there can be no doubt as to what Scott Brown means to Celtic and to his team mates. What is also apparent is that our club clearly means the world to him.

The way he rallied his team mates, delivery the instructions given by BR and the way he celebrated and encouraged his team mates to celebrate at the end was superb.

Take in his reaction at Aberdeen and the way his team mates reacted speaks volumes and I worry we won't see another of his like for some time.

This guy deserves the legend status and should have a role at Celtic in some capacity as long as he wants.

I would think if Broony leaves it will be his decision. He does seem interested in the coaching side, maybe a tempting start in management? Years away if he keeps this form up.

13 Mar 2018 13:00:24
I watched the full replay yesterday as it's always good to get a less agitated view on proceedings. I watched in interest at some of the refereeing decisions made by Collum. Bizarre if you ask me. Jozo's was probably a red but certainly wasn't as bad as I first thought. If it was a straight arm would that useless we tool on the line still be jumping up and down like a wee kid shouting RED CARD! RED CARD!, probably. After that, Collum really did his best to penalise every tackle made by our players. Also, seeing Edouards goal again was a thing of beauty! Great game, one of the better ones in terms of competition. Just as good as it is to see us absolutely annihilating them, it's also good to watch a great battling performance with us winning against a much improved Sevco team. Makes it all the sweeter when the Orcs think their team is anywhere near us just to be reminded they're not!

Agree5 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Did you notice the similarities between Edouard's goal and KT's against Aberdeen the other week? It was the same slide rule pass from Dembele to set both goals up. Beautiful!}

13 Mar 2018 13:10:57
Dembele's vision is sublime Ed, that's what makes him far more than just a striker. He reads the game like a boss. His hold up play is amazing to watch. He's a solid as a nuclear bunker and defenders hate playing against that type of player. I hate to say it but that Morelos guy is a great wee bullier as well, thankfully for us though he couldn't hit a Barn Door with a Tractor!

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Any time Morelos name is mentioned it's usually followed by 'offiside' though. I can't recall a striker getting caught offside so many times and he'll need to sort that if he's hoping to move on this summer.}

13 Mar 2018 13:29:32
Have done the very same Rab; as you say when you're watching live it's easy to get distracted and influenced with the occassion.
Collum had a quiet first half when he seemed reluctant to use a card although he and his officials did ignore bad tackles on Rogic and Forrest, but let the game flow especially when Broony was felled when he played that great ball through to Moussa for 2-2.
The sending off and reaction by the linesman and crowd, seemed to really unsettle him and he punished every singly Celtic challenge from then on, ignoring late tackles and niggles from the home team and giving them even more of an advantage than the extra man and a certainly more incentive.
However, the substitutions, reorganization and superior class told in the end and the celebrations by all involved showed how much it means to win against all odds, obstacles and establishment ploys.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - No.}

Morning ED, come this summer where would you expect us to strengthen by priority regarding the first team?

Believable3 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - GK and defence.}

13 Mar 2018 15:03:11
Does that come at the expense of signing Paddy or edouard?

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Mar 2018 14:58:24
Any other areas strengthened would be a bonus, they two are an absolute must.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Mar 2018 17:31:41
Why should it come at the expense of two young players who will make us money? we have £35m in the bank, we get another load of the folding stuff if we qualify. Having good players helps that. We need a defence and a keeper plus those two. We have to invest, anybody who watched us on Sunday knows that. Bain could be a shout, but defenders are required. Getting those two for an additional £14m is a no brainer, we will get that on each of them in a couple of seasons.

Its not an either or, its a must.

Agree2 Disagree1

13 Mar 2018 20:24:54
Regardless of what is or isn’t in the bank can we expect to see the sanction of £5-7mill for Paddy and £7-9 mill for edouard? I’m basing these figures on the values I’ve heard on this site. I doubt we’ll see £15mill spent this summer.

I agree a CH / GK / RB as areas to prioritise for improvement, but if you were choosing between Paddy/ Ed or a new defence/ keeper who would you take?
I would take Paddy and ed.

Agree0 Disagree1

13 Mar 2018 21:08:00
I would take new defence. Because we have other players that can play the position of they 2 but going in to euro with that defence again would be a disaster.
We need to chop boyata and Jozo and bring in 2 replacements.

Agree0 Disagree2

13 Mar 2018 23:38:23
This is the time to strengthen, just when the huns think they're getting close (they're not) we should strengthen our weaknesses and keep them in a fight with the other smaller clubs over our scraps. I'm not naive enough to think we'll win every trophy every year but we shouldn't take our eye off the ball. Europe is our benchmark and although we got European football after Christmas, I think we need to sign better players. Mainly keeper and cb, but if dembele and rogic leave then we at least need to get a striker in. Onwards and upwards hail hail.

13 Mar 2018 09:58:13
Think Brendan deserves enormous credit for the win against sevco, not many managers would throw a striker on when your down to 10 men away from home, he absolutely bamboozled the tactical genius that is murty he was even praying for divine intervention at one point haha what a sight HH.
