I’m feeling sorry for big Ange already and he’s only been in the job a couple of weeks.
He’ll be expected to complete miracles with both hands tied behind his back.
Celtic should’ve appointed a DOF at the end of last season and we’re still waiting.
Celtic play our first pre-season match tomorrow and the most Celtic have spent on a player is £200k.
Big Ange is training players who won’t and don’t won’t to play for Celtic.
I don’t think we have a permanent recruitment team in place, it’s a shambles.
Celtic are miles off where we need to be.

Buzz Bomb

You’re spot on 100%.

As I said last night the board who are responsible for the disgrace that was last season have done nothing to date to date to allay my fears that we have bigger problems than sacking Neil Lennon was going to resolve. They have much to do to convince us they have a requisite vision, business acumen and professionalism to recover credibility and the current situation.

I have no fears about big Ange and would have taken him over Eddie Why in a heartbeat. He might just be an inspired appointment or at worst if he fails it’s easily remedied. But deeper problems at board level evidenced as Barry said last night by their failures in recent seasons to conduct the necessary business in terms of recruitment in sufficient time ahead of European competition and which culminated in last years incompetence and negligence is harder to resolve and is concerning.

Agreed Buzz and JFP, I'm really glad you both posted what you have today as sometimes I think twice about what I post these day's on the back of last season.

It seems to some that if a post, irrespective of the facts, is not positive, it's automatically negative and we have to 'forget' about last season and the hangover from it.

That's not how I live, work or operate in the real world.

The facts are that we've got key players who wanted out of CP 12 months ago, who have yet to be sold.

In turn, this will be holding up the potential funds that Ange has to spend on brining in much needed reinforcements to replace said wantaways and enable the team to compete both domestically and in Europe with players who want to play for Celtic and for our new Manager.

Anybody on here or elsewhere amongst the Celtic support who thinks a couple of teenagers, LG signing a one year extension and the others who downed tools last season will win us the league and compete in Europe is living in la la land.

They have to back him with funds, the squad from last year never performed and the loans are away so the squad is thread bare, we don't have time to haggle over money, big club mentality needed.

100% Mally.

It just feels like everything we do is reactive we never seem to be proactive in the transfer market. It feels like we take an age to get a deal done and we miss out on our 1st choice target due to being able to just pay that extra little bit to get the deal done and get the first choice target . I still can’t get my head round having the lad Toney in the building and pulling out to get the cheaper alternative in Ajeti . This penny pinching has got to stop as in the long run it’s costing us more as the guys we are bringing in are not good enough and are throwing money away . We really need to back Ange or the guy is on a hiding to nothing.

When supporters like us can see the obvious, ponder the problems and consider the consequences, it really does question the intelligence, strategy and common sense of the seemingly incompetent, dithering people we trust to run our club.
I remember people saying that even when we were in management limbo that there were people running the club, making decisions. However, we are once again scrambling about at the last minute with the car-crash of last season fresh in the mind and most of the culprits still hanging around Celtic Park like a bad smell.
What is needed is immediate positive and decisive action to back the new manager with real money for quality players - not projects loans or misfits like before. Funds will definitely be recouped when we offload the malcontents, disruptors and surplus, even if it takes until the end of the transfer window.

I’d agree with all the statements above . Let’s be honest we all bought into what McKay told us, backed that up with season ticket sales, and every day it drags on it seems we are to be treated the same as before . We gave him the benefit of the doubt after last seasons show, I appreciate it seems like we are panicking but we have serious ground to make up, the problems we had last season are probably only widening as we haven’t strengthened really and in moi, we have lost a considerable amount of goals from the team. As others have stated we still have the players here who couldn’t be arsed or don’t want to be there. Time hasn’t been on our side since well before Howe mucked us about, we have had the same problems since last November / December when everyone could see we needed to change lennon. All we needed after ange was a couple of statement buys that would have given us hope instead of continuing with the malaise the fans see us in.
