What where those commentators all about lads.
No neutrality in there quotes.
Celtic missed 4/ 5 clear cut chances.
I just felt big Sutton was missed.
In the first 25 mins our defence where like in a training match then we started to go through the gears. The pitch was a disgrace we missed so many chances. Still not convinced by Johnny I like him as a super sub think we need a natural left back defender. Maybe he has the flue. I hope boli get back on straight away. And elhamed hurries back.

Give Taylor a run of games he could be the natural left back where after deserves a chance.

20 Dec 2019 10:46:38
Yep agreed he deserves a chance it should have been wednesday but Lenny says not yet.
May be saving him for weekend.

Just thinking who would you say was the last player celtic bought that would have walked into any team at the time we bought him?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

19 Dec 2019 19:53:02
Virgil van Dijk has to be last player we bought at the time at could of walked or crawled into any team, he makes everything look so effortless like he’s not even trying, don’t think any other signing could compare till him for a defender and is the closest ex Celtic player to ever win ballon d or.

Not for me Irish he learned a lot at parkhead. His positional discipline and sense needed major work.

For me it was probably as far back as Paul Lambert.
He had just won the Champions league while marking one of the worlds best players out the games and made an assist for the first goal.

19 Dec 2019 20:35:17
Lambo is my hero.

Agree0 Disagree0

19 Dec 2019 20:51:04
Lamberts goals v rangers will never be forgotten that goal the 2 0 to stop the ten I have never heard a roar like that in my life when it bursts the net .

19 Dec 2019 21:45:41
Duff he said it was a fluke then done it the next week or so against Motherwell.

Hes got to be the most underrated player in Scottish football history.

19 Dec 2019 22:00:45
Jeremy Frimpong.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Dec 2019 03:51:38
Paul Lambert was one of the main reasons Celtic stopped 10 in a row.
Rangers offered him a bigger salary but he already had a gentleman’s agreement with Celtic. It turned out to be a game changer.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Dec 2019 07:45:05
Petrov.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Dec 2019 08:49:49
I always thought lambo was a bit unappreciated, but for me he was always a class operator on the pitch.
I never got to see the maestro in his pomp, as I came of age in the 90's but when lambo signed after winning the campions league it was a game changer. Burley and morten W both had great contributions to stop the 10, but for me Paul Lambert was the man.
Did he take over the captaincy from Tam Boyd? How long was he at Celtic for?

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Dec 2019 10:37:01
Lubo was a 33 when he formed that amazing partnership with Henke. We destroyed the Rangers in that November fixture 5-1. He was a two footed and had amazing skills, he even trapped the ball with his arse to bring it under control. Wish we had him a little bit younger and longer.

20 Dec 2019 11:13:25
Mally your having a laugh mate.
Petrov was as raw a player as I've ever seen. He improved massively at parkhead.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Dec 2019 11:17:03
Ye at first he was captain on the pitch and boyd was still club captain but not playing much then he took it over full time.
Think it was 8 or 9 years. Got him for around 2million as well.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Dec 2019 12:21:44
Naka for me. Miss his creativity and dead ball ability. Don't think we've ever replaced him.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Dec 2019 12:23:19
Island Celt, Lambert was at Celtic for 7 seasons and in that time Celtic won 4 leagues and we won the Scottish and League cup 2 times each.
I think Paul took over the captains armband from Boyd in 2002/03, the season we got to Seville.

Celtic have helped progress a load of players careers but Lambert and Larsson came to Celtic with the full package. We only got Larsson cheap because there was a clause in his contract. He was always wanted by Feyenoord and other clubs but Celtic were lucky to get him due to the Wim Jansen affect and getting Paul Lambert for £2m for 7 seasons was also a steal.

Petrov turned into a great player under MON, when Martin started playing him in his natural position because John Barnes was playing him at right back.
Guys like Sutton couldn’t get a game with Chelsea, Robbie Keane with Spurs and nobody wanted Hartson because of his injuries. Van Dyke, Wanyama and Forster all became better players with Celtic coaching.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Dec 2019 13:04:26
Naka wouldn't have walked in to any team though when he signed for celtic though
Sad to say neither would lubo because of his age.

Larson was not the full package when he came to celtic either.
And he says that himself. Was a good goal scorer his first few season but he didn't become the player he became until after his leg break.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Dec 2019 15:44:04
Celtic were very lucky to get Larsson because he was an excellent player.
I will admit he did get better the older and wiser he became.
I still think he was a world class player before his leg break and Celtic were fortunate to have him.

Larsson played 2 full seasons and then broke his leg in the October ’99. In just over 2 seasons Larsson scored 70 goals for Celtic and yet amazingly he did as Kev mentioned, come back from his horrific injury an even better player.
Lambert is probably the last world class player Celtic signed whilst still in his prime.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Dec 2019 20:50:10
Cheers lads
I always thought it was strange why he came back to Scotland after winning the big cup at Dortmund
Maybe he just liked the bumble bee strip.

Hard to imagine us signing a centre midfielder from the European champions now.

Did he not come home for family reasons, or have I imagined that? .

This is no brained fraser foster has to bought world class keeper and a world class striker the board has to spend some of the money they made can't let this slip up because someone else will bid for him there is plenty in the pot so I hope they do the right thing and get him signed on our books he has earned it as this is his club so I hope they show there intent and stick by lennon but it's always down to money which celtic board don't like spending as we have seen in loads of deals time will tell.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

19 Dec 2019 16:40:13
Jinky88 we would all love to have world class players bought, but as you and everyone else knows those world class players will demand salaries we cannot match and they want to play in the top leagues not in our tinpot league. We may unearth some good players as we have in the past, but they don’t hang around for long whenever the big bucks that are on offer down south are dangled in front of them . Forster, Wanyama, Hooper, Armstrong, Van Dijk, Dembele are proof of that and Edouard in time will be the same as will Frimpong. We just have to get on with what we have unfortunately apologies for the rant but that’s how I see it,10/ 10 trophies going for 9 titles in a row we are doing not too bad.

Collecting for food banks outside the gates whilst paying millionaires inside the gates, why don't we go back to our founding principles, pay the first team players the average of the rest of the spl, maybe three thousand a week, all the money saved on the wage bill to be distributed to needy causes, hospitals, hospices, food banks, etc, forget about buying success, bring young players through the ranks, sell them on when they want to leave, support the team won, lose or draw.

Aindoh Celtic is a business and as far away removed from its origins as it could be. Same can be said for the sport in general. The club still donate regularly to charity though.

Hard fought win last night. Superb from the troops on an atrocious park and against a team more suited to American Football.

Seen big Julian getting slaughtered on the board last night. Thought he was immense, won everything in the Air. Big man has been a superb signing. HH.

We are a joy to watch playing on a pitch like a farmers field. Some of Edouards link up play was quality. He took out 4 players with a backheel for Christies goal. Win our next 3 games and that mob will crumble. I still expect us to win the League by double points.

19 Dec 2019 15:11:44
Hes been a fantastic signing and is only going to get better but there is no hiding that fact he needs to learn the ruff side of our game, as that's something that seems to trouble him.

19 Dec 2019 17:06:45
DRA1967, absolutely agree. I think Jullien has been one of our best signings in many years. I just love it when we stick it up the Wee Scum, especially at Tynecastle. HH.

Rangers will beat Hibs hope your right though.

Agree1 Disagree0

19 Dec 2019 13:36:01
I have been surprised by their consistency and if they could win at Fir Park after such a 'downer' in the cup final, they will beat Hibs.
The main thing is that we keep focused and win ALL our games and then there is absolutely hee-haw, anyone can do about it.

Agree0 Disagree0

19 Dec 2019 17:18:45
4 of Hibs 9 league games at home this season have finished 2-2.
More of the same will do and if Celtic can win our 3 remaining games before the winter break, the gap will be double figures.

Your a legend Roro1892, and a bit of a clap for Albertz who donated from the Rangers page. And a generous one at that, if your looking in. Good man! . Rivalry is nothing, when there is people struggling at anytime, especially this time of year! And people like Ed, who put the effort in! .

{Ed007's Note - And a special thanks to you Brian and to Jaw188 who have went above and beyond to help out a young family.}

19 Dec 2019 09:22:33
Hayes is not a left back we have 2 natural left backs and last night he was caught and all the threat came down the left lennon needs to stop this and play the correct players not a weak player like him because teams will expose this hayes is backup at most greg Taylor should be in there all the time he played excellent needs a run in the team I seen ajer so much covering for hayes? Lewis Morgan hayes subs at most.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

19 Dec 2019 11:15:37
Hayes was very disappointing last night. Edouard's was very impressive and he's finding his touch after his lay-off. Jullien was solid again but I wish he would make less of a meal of things, he's taken over from Lustig in that regard.
