It's like Celtic have learned nothing. How many young top talent have Celtic signed and non get a chance. Give them a freekin chance. before we can judge them they are off and do gd things. This is one of the things the new manager has to change. Also who sanctioned this with a new manager coming in.

I can't see many youth players breaking through, until we regain some stability, consistency and confidence. Hopefully once we have a settled, quality side, we can then introduce the cream of the crop?

We have Scott Robertson at Gillingham, they're raving about the young centre midfielder. Howe will play youngsters if they look the part. We need loads of signings as there's loads going out.

Fair comment Auf. Yes our fans do demand the ready made player and it does appear that only the occasional young player gets a chance. Youth development at Celtic is partly hindered by the club's ability to go out and buy someone with a bit of credibility and that seems to have taken the focus off the young lads.
I think it's down to a lack of club focus and individual ability within the club to spot good talent in the youth ranks when the 'easy' option is to go out and buy a player from elsewhere, many of whom have also been a disaster. HH.

About 6 or 7 of our talented youngsters have recently left as there was no pathway to first team under the last regime, the proof is in the pudding.

What concerns me is the level of research we do on players we sign. I'm referring to their attitude, their hunger, their desire etc.
Take Shved as just one example. He's clearly a guy who has all the ability in the world but seems to have a poor attitude as was called out by the Mechelen manager when he went there on loan. That attitude didn't suddenly happen at Celtic, it must have been there before and we didn't see it, and it was probably the reason he didn't make it at his previous clubs.
The Alex Ferguson approach of sussing out a player's background (family history etc. ) rarely failed him so I don't understand why we don't use it or something similar. HH.

Gillingham was raving about Robertson but he went back out to Doncaster and don't think he's barely kicked a ball for them.

I think club have potentially signed a gem in Dawson. His dad and 2 uncles have played at least championship level with Hull City (Dad) , Tottenham (uncle) and Nottingham Forres (uncle) .
Suggests to me he will have right attitude to develop and progress into first team coming from his background.
Personally I think Dawson and Shaw have been identified by Howe as I thought from day 1 he would be working behind scenes identifying players and building backroom team. I'm probably wrong though lol.

Robertson should have been playing in our midfield last year, instead of Brown, when they are good enough, they should be playing in the first team, otherwise, there is a danger of their development being stifled.

Would be a brave manager to drop Broony for a reserve player, when we were going for 10. Broony never got dropped for Soro even when there was nothing to play for.

I don't see the point in us loaning him out to Doncaster if he's not going to be playing. He was one of the players I'd have liked to see get a run in the team when the league was mathematically over.
