Looks like Nawrocki is away on a season long loan, like to hope we are doing our due diligence in the background because as it stands we are getting weaker, I hope the bigwigs aren't twiddling their thumbs again, this summer window has a lot ot deja vu around it.

If rocky is going lager is going probably Welsh as well leaving sub standard trusty and scales we definitely need a cb.

I thought we would have sold him but it sounds like they just want his wages off the books for this season and possibly let next manager run the rule over him, assuming Brendan does not extend his contract.

Mally and Weejoe this is typical how our Board works, sell or loan players then hope we can sign better replacements.
To this fan's way of thinking, a more professional way would be sign the replacements FIRST then move on players surplus to requirements.
But that requires joined up thinking that our Board do not possess.

I reckon if you bring replacements in first, the club would put ourselves at a disadvantage because it would bring down the price of the player we would then be desperate to sell.
The buying club would then know that Celtic need to sell that player because we’ve already brought in a replacement.

I’m reserving judgement on Trusty the now. I feel like most good CHs have a rocky (pardon the pun) first season with us. Even going back to Paul Elliott. I dunno, might be gut feeling but I seldom expect a CH to hit the ground running first season.

Long story short, give him a chance. BR will definitely have told him what to work on this summer, so I’d expect him to have a bit more about him physically this season.

Buying a player is like buying a house there’s usually a domino effect, the player or players we might be interested in won’t b allowed to leave unless the selling club get to big an offer they can’t refuse but more likely until THEY have a replacement linged up then hopefully all falls into place, going to b a long summer poor Edd?‍♂️.

{Ed007's Note - I'm absolutely scunnered already and there's still nearly 2 months to go.}

If it is a first team replacement @timalloy, I would agree that it is best to bring in the replacement before you sell but for a squad player, I think it is best to sell first.

Timalloy, if we wait to offload these guys, prospective buyers may have moved on to other targets and we're stuck with them.

04 Jul 2025 15:43:29
Ideally we should have identified and even signed replacements before offloading as it may put us at a disadvantage when selling clubs see how much we need their player (s) . However, I'm sure the Board have totally thought this through and announcements are pending>.

The problems with signing replacements before we let players go, is that that we could be reducing the price of the player we want to move on because we have clearly signalled that he is no longer value to us . The other problem is that players maybe reluctant to come to us as they know we have a player for that position. Just note we couldn’t even keep G Taylor nor so far buy a back-up for a good but possible cripple Tierney .
It’s so easy for all us experts to know everything about transfer market, and to show our Boards as imbeciles . Fortunately for us our bad decisions are swept under carpet, whilst Board mistakes in transfer window are spread out in front of us.
