It's just my opinion but lots of people on here have different views on Abada based on how things panned out, buy yet everyone one here (except me) has a long lasting love in with GG who couldn't wait to get out of our club without trying one ounce to fight for his place. no reason to leave other than he wasn't first pick yet couldn't be arsed fighting for a starting slot. Hopefully the 2 will clash in the US and never win another honor.

{Ed007's Note - Giakoumakis left for footballing reasons, he wanted to play more plus he never downed tools or refused to play for the team - add to that his Mrs didn't settle in Scotland and didn't like Glasgow.
So basically every player that leaves Celtic for footballing reasons is the same as Abada, all the youngsters like Ryan Morrison and Ben Doak should be treated the same as Abada for not staying and trying to force their way into the Celtic first?
What do you think of Toomy Burns leaving Celtic to join Kilmarnock? I mean he was only 33/34 and continued playing for another few years, the bloody cheek of him eh, another player that couldn't be arsed fighting for a starting slot!}

No. I'm continually making a point about one player and one player only. This player seems to be a hero in everyone's eyes but in mine he didn't have the stomach to fight for a starting place at a top club after coming from a relegation club in Jolland and couldn't wait to "play regularl football " in the MLS. Enough said. If he was half the player people on here think he was he'd not be in the US at 28 or 29. A good player but to compare him to kids that have offers from liverpool and bayern is just ridiculous.

{Ed007's Note - So why single out GG? To compare his and Abada's situations is quite frankly beyond ridiculous and you're definitely the only person I've spoken to or seen to make such a stupid & vague comparison.}

Giakoumakis was never given the amount of opportunities he should have been given. I don't think it's fair to say he didn't fight for his place. There were times when Kyogo was off form but Ange persisted with him, which was his right as the manager btw, but what else could Giakoumakis reasonably do? He proved himself as a very good goalscorer for us but it suited all parties for him to move on.

If you ask me GG never intended staying long at Celtic, the basis of me forming that opinion is the very low clause inserted into his contract that let him leave when someone triggered the fee of £4.5m or what it was round about that figure.

Which basically meant he could get out quick if he needed to, correct me if I am wrong, but it was apparently the Rugby guy that negotiated that contract? It was most likely one of the only reasons he came to Celtic too.

GG was not the player kyogo was, he was a gamble as only had one prolific season in his career prior to joining us, he could've stayed but a players career is short, if your 2nd/ 3rd choice why not move, Bain in my eyes is a prime example, are you looking back at your career and saying what a career I've had, pr are you just looking at your bank balance for relatively no contribution? I played in the same county team as Scott Carson, he went on to have a tip career then sits on bench at city not bothered about game time as he's done it already, I like the fact younger players are hungry and want a career, not sit at a club and earn a wage for nothing, we all would love to be footballers at that level, make the most of it!

As a club players come and go, when they leave the deal is done let's focus on what we have and what we need.

all of these things are relevant but none more so than his wife not wanting to stay its got to be a major factor.

Wife aside Gg who wanted to play and waited his time on bench even during a Kyogo dry spell and run poor performances was allowed to leave this club by a manager who refused give him his deserved opportunity in the team, he didn’t let us down when Kyogo was injured and didn’t let us down when needed off bench but never got respect he deserved from a manager who while saying anyone who wants to leave can leave was wangling his move behind the scenes away from our club, the wife thing might have forced the issue but if Gg want allied to leave he’s exactly the type striker Rodger’s would want at club ……. Abada situation is nothing like it and while I wish both parties well, while Gg is proving in USA his worth I think Abada will fade into football obscurity,
