So going with reports over the last week or so we tried to buy a left back for around 8 million and a centre back for around 5 million in January.

Agree0 Disagree3

Who’s the left back Kev or do you mean the Belgium lad castagne ( he’s a right back ) or are the club looking to sell kt? Hopefully not and it’s just a typo . It would be nice if we were prepared to spend that sort of money to tighten up a weak area of our team .

Sorry Quinn was RB I meant to write.

Tried and failed. Fair enough the Castagne deal it seemed Atalanta upped the asking price. If we are serious about bringing in quality to the club then we need to pay fees that the selling club are looking for or at least get close to get them interested in a deal. There’s no point bidding £5m when a club are looking for £8m. We seem to slap in offers and when they are rejected we walk away from the deal.

Ya but we're those deals when Rogers were here. Be very surprised if Lennon gets anything like that. I know it's only paper talk but now we are linked with the Ipswich defender for 500,000. Big difference and hope it wrong and Lennon is back the same as Rogers.

Because we don't have the luxury of sky money.

We started the negotiations when Deila was Manager 😂.

Ice man just because a guy has an 8 million release clause doesn't mean he's worth that. Of coarse the board should try and get as low a price as they can for a player.

04 Jun 2019 18:14:14
Getting to the stage it's nearly impossible to sign anyone whis got a bit if quality we just get blown out the water.

04 Jun 2019 18:41:32
Alvarez is within our price range and is the type of player we should sign to replace Boyata. He’ll end up at barcelona or something in a few years.

As frustrating as it is Mally there's still plenty gems out there. I've had a laugh about the leak today but for all i know they might be decent enough players. Hopefully guys like Shved will come in a take the place by storm. I have no issue with so called 'projects' as long as we have seasoned pros alongside them to guide them. There needs to be a balance. All this leak has done if it is genuine is brought embarrassment to the club as it looks like something a child would write.

Young English players on compensation deals are a no brainer these guys could be worth millions given the right platform. My favourite ever quote from a Celtic manager was strachan “what chance do I have of getting a top striker when marlon king goes for £5million” but and here’s the but we need 1st team players not squad players or projects I don’t fear any challenge from anyone in our league but I want to see us get better as a season ticket holder my efforts travelling up to give my full support to the team should be rewarded by improvement on the park each time and it’s not a lot to ask. Take my money I give it gladly but use it to improve what I pay to see.

Think yous guys wanting to spend big money to buy a big names are being a bit ridiculous, a big name only quarantees one thing, that's a big wage, a big name signing might do the business or might flop, is much better for talent scouts to live upto their name and spot some as yet undiscovered talent, and who ever is in charge of the in-house talent assessment now, learns from what happened to Andy Robertson, and if it's the same guy that was in charge when Andy got the boot, I have only two words for him, instant dismissal.

O’Donnell of Kilmarnock will be first signing.

05 Jun 2019 00:52:00
So if a player has an £8m release clause why would his club let him go for £5m. Would you expect Celtic to let a player go for £5m if their release clause was £8m? If they really believe a player is quality and will enhance the team get real and pay the money for them.

Aindoh what a daft comment about Andy Robertson.
You ever think that the journey he had to take to the top of the game is why he is the player he is.
Going to the lower leagues and learning to play hard against men toughened him up. Getting binned by Celtic toughened him mentally.

Not one of us were bothered that we didn't sign him from Dundee Utd.
Also would KT have came through if Robertson was There? Hard to say.
