Why is everyone so negative?
Full house
New man in
A young striker in
Granted rotten embarrassing result but we will still go through.
We have played one game and everyone is talking as if the steps we have taken in the last couple of months mean nothing.
BR may not be everyone's first choice but already people are bad mouthing him for team selection - he's the manager and it's his decision.
If he continuously picks efe, Forrest etc I will be flabbergasted, but maybe he is waiting on new recruits.
The majority of fans were screaming out for a new manager and we got one, now people are still moaning and groaning. It's this type of support that puts managers under immense pressure, makes players make mistakes and panic (inferior) signings brought in.
There is no excuse for the lack of effort shown by some, but have a bit of faith in the man who many were over the moon about to assess his own squad and act accordingly.
I would ship half them out but this takes time, so let's pick ourselves up and move on without this constant panic and worry that so many of our support seem to revel in.

It's his decision island bhoy but if he would keep making the wrong decision that cost us games should we allow/ accept that. his selection / formation was a major factor in the worst defeat in our history. so we have a right to question and moan . and while I fully expect to easily go through . do we accept this again if we can't get into cl groups or even europa . we have brought in an inexperienced young striker still to prove himself . and any manager in charge after a result like that deserves to be put under pressure/ scrutiny.

Goid post IC. To be honest the LRI game didn't change anything about what I thought of us.

Every year you read about teams in La Liga and Serie A losing cup games to teams in the 3rd and 4th division, and that's with all things being equal, - both teams well into their season, players signed etc etc. We haven't had that, then throw in the pitch! I'm not making excuses for the players because most I don't rate, - what was the manager supposed to do though, some he can't even give away, he also has to look at them for himself otherwise he would have been called arrogant and unreasonable! Other than Ambrose he only had a half fit Lustig or O'Connell who was rotten at Oldham, returned injured again, and not much better at Cork. Hopefully he has a top centre half lined up, I'd prefer 2, a top sitting midfielder, another striker and left winger. It might be the players we wanted weren't available/ wanted a proper summer break, most teams only started back a week ago! The first thing I'd do is give Commons a free, even a pay-off, take what we can for Biton and Johansen, sort the Forrest situation and send a few youngsters on loan, ideally clubs with a bit of history/ where they will play under pressure!

I think it's more concern and rightly so. The fans have been sold short by the clubs lack of ambition.

The points you raise are tied together. Yes, they got a new manager and bought season tickets because he is higher profile. This suggested he would be in control of tranfers and have a raised budget.

So far we have just brought i Dembele (not a Rodgers signing) as we tried to get him in January. We are linked with another Dudu Dahan player from Notts Forest.

Basically people expected a new era and are seeing all the suggestions of the same old failed attempts.

Totally agree, Dembele signing was welcomed as a major signing then we lose a game and all of a sudden he is a young kid with no experience.

Bad result yes but let's see on Wednesday if our new managers will make changes.

I expect Christie to be replaced by Roberts, Either Biton or Brown replaced by Armstong and Efe to be left at home with Lustig in the middle.

The whole team played poorly but Armstong made a difference when he came on and Roberts needs a good pitch for his close control.

Let's not worry about the result over the past 10 years we have been on the receiving end of many shocking results and I bet this is how Barcelona felt when we beat them.

15 Jul 2016 10:45:53
It probably was how Barcelona felt Kev! Let's call a spade a spade - we're not good enough to be all embarrassed by any team beating us in one game! Everybody getting all precious as if we're still a European heavy weight! Aberdeen ran us close over a whole season with a wage bill the same as what Scott Brown earns. There's nothing lucky about that, nothing to do with only 3 weeks training or 30 year old plastic pitches! Molde could have easily beat us 8-2 on aggregate last year! Red Imps probably train more than Morton who beat us at Parkhead half way through the season! The problem with our country is the whole of Europe is improving and we're standing still. There's teams from Bulgaria/ Cyprus/ Slovenia doing better than us in Europe every bloody year, with wage bills that are the same as the players we have sitting in the Stand! None of this is Brendan Rodgers' fault. Hopefully this time next year with 3 transfer windows done, and a year of more technical training we'll actually be able to pass the ball, control a game, and even feel confident in these qualifying games. How novel would that be - the fans feeling confident!

I don't doubt that we will qualify for the next round, but in my opinion that's beside the point.
From what I see with this team, as soon as they are taken out of their comfort zone they struggle, look at last season, we struggled in the cups against Ross County and Sevco, despite having better players, these teams set out to make life difficult for us and we couldn't respond to it.
Teams do lose cup ties at times against lower league teams, but usually it's when they put a weakened team out on the park. On Tuesday we had our first choice eleven playing, yet they couldn't find the answers to the questions asked by a part time team from Gibraltar.
The fact that this keeps happening, tells me that there is something deeply flawed with this group of players. Rodgers needs to get a grip and sort it out before we suffer any more humiliations.

Kevt that's exactly what he is a young kid with little experience. . last season's goals where the first of his senior career and he has only played 56 games.
