Lots of speculation regarding big Vic.
We can but dream.

I very rarely get a rumour living down south, so don't shoot the messenger.
A guy at my work is Newcastle supporter who unprompted told me we are in for their keeper Carl Darlow.
I assume as a back up to Bain. My pal rated him anyway.

1.) 04 Jun 2019 18:44:29
I countered by telling him the rumour in the Scottish media was that Newcastle we’re going to buy Alfredo morelas for somewhere in the region of £10 - £20 million (not that i believe these made up figures)
To which he replied “who’s he? ”
Enough said.

2.) 04 Jun 2019 19:38:35
Heard this about a month or 2 back. This is only if gordan leaves.

3.) 04 Jun 2019 20:39:39
Can’t be true, he’s not on the list that’s been released 😉😂.

4.) 04 Jun 2019 22:14:55
Sturridge or Jagielka, sorry spelling, one injury prone and one too slow, seeing by documents we will be taking offers for Eddy, should have taken Boyata money.

Every window we have the same discussions around transfer targets, budgets, feed etc. It highlights the difficulties in bringing in quality and when we do they are invariably sold on in a year or two.

For me the core strength of Celtic is the Scotsman in the team. KT, Calum Mac, broony, Forrest, Christie, griff etc.

With broony on a final two year deal I say build the team around calmac in broonys role. Make KT captain after brown and invest more and more in youth development

Look abroad if it suits us / business model etc. But the longevity comes more from the homegrown. There's obviously exceptions (larsson! ) but in today's market I say develop our own.

We have Dembele and Okoflex doing well and likely to make the breakthrough soon as well as Henderson. Hopefully Aitchison can kick on a bit now too.

2.) 04 Feb 2019 10:51:05
Kier mcinroy cdm isn't that far away either. dembele imo still needs more time aitcheson a bit ahead of okoflex and in a br team as attackers their height and build will go against them like to see aitcheson on loan to an all club to see if he can cut it at that level.

3.) 04 Feb 2019 13:08:33
It's becoming a strength of this team that its core is home grown. I definitely think that will be added to in the future too. It would be impossible to have 11 Scots starting but I'd say having at least half the squad come from the development team would be extremely successful.
There would surely be the finance then to spend more on the players we do buy.

4.) 04 Feb 2019 19:51:25
I seen a photo today of okoflex and dembele training next to ntcham, I don't remember ntcham being the biggest but he made those 2 look tiny. Both need to bulk up, having said that it's encouraging to see them around the squad.

5.) 04 Feb 2019 21:59:01
Seen that an hour after posting they was training with the squad. Got some exciting prospects in the making with Johnston looking like he'll progress in to a cracking player too.

6.) 04 Feb 2019 22:49:15
Celtic especially under Brendan Rodgers have already began building from their academy and youth . Many of our signing are teenagers or players just out of their teens.

12 Jan 2019 08:05:03
Anybody heard anything regarding boyata leaving?
Has he rejected an offer from Celtic?
If so is he being sold?
If not what's everyone's thoughts on him staying for another contract?

Island celt

1.) 12 Jan 2019 08:37:11
Think it's time to move on. The debacle in the summer proves his heart isn't in it anymore. The improved performances were for his future career elsewhere. Off you pop big fella.

2.) 12 Jan 2019 09:01:57
His agent last week said they'll not even talk to Celtic because he's going it was all over the press.

3.) 12 Jan 2019 09:30:12
I think most of if not all Celtic fans are looking to get. CB in I would like to see experience in there but with VRs comments I can’t see that happening but fingers crossed am wrong. Someone mentioned big commanding CB to be announced this week coming I hope so.

4.) 12 Jan 2019 13:11:34
I respect any player that wants to move on, but the way he conducted himself was highly unprofessional. Would be surprised if we don't sign another CB this month and Boyata was away.

5.) 12 Jan 2019 14:53:57
Rodgers proved himself to be a weak manager in this situation.

Boyata should have never played again. He refused to pull on the jersey pretending to be injured.

We lost to AEK and lost 40 mil.

He's not even a good player.

The amount of our fans who sat and clapped a player who has no respect for our club was an absolute embarrassment.

6.) 12 Jan 2019 17:18:58
Agree Tesla! Boyata shouldn’t have been near a Celtic top ever again after his actions in the summer! Brendan let it go and then dembele through the toys out the pram! And like you said, he’s absolute Barry white! Frightening that he’s what Brendan classes as our best defender! I’d quite happily never see the clown play for us again! Him and his agent can take f**k tae there selfs!

7.) 13 Jan 2019 11:18:43
He definitely not signing new contract, that’s we he’s waited to be allowed to leave on a Bosman. As soon as he signs pre contract with new team the club should try and negotiate £1m fee to release him now, gets him off wage bill and out the club and the wages and £1m fee can go towards his replacement.

8.) 13 Jan 2019 13:11:50
We lost more. £40m just to qualify. £14m TV pot and circa £11m CL home ticket package. I hate transfer windows. This one will join the rest if we don’t get a couple of battle hardened defenders. Get Boyata tf as he doesn’t want to be here, Benkovic leaves in the summer too and the thought of CL qualification with what we have left is a real concern.

There are players out there, although selfish clubs wanting money for them is really annoying. A RB and at least one CB who can actually play are a must.

05 Nov 2018 20:56:04
My pal at work said he'd heard a rumour that Man Utd (his team) would be bidding for a Leicester defender and that would force Leicester to trigger the return of benkovic.
Anybody heard similar?

Be a shame, the lad looks top drawer.

Seen a report boyata is injured albeit on Faceb££k, true?

Island celt

1.) 05 Nov 2018 21:25:33
Going to have to bring in 2 quality defenders in Jan if this happens as I see us selling Boyata in Jan.

2.) 05 Nov 2018 22:10:01
They were trying to sign McGiure late in the transfer window but he’s on a long term deal there so their bid was rejected.

3.) 06 Nov 2018 10:45:22
I may be wrong Ice Man but I think Leicester actually signed him up to a bumper new deal AFTER the window closed. If so this would make it even more unlikely he would be sold in January.

4.) 06 Nov 2018 15:29:36
McGuire singed his 5yr deal in the summer of 2017. So will come down to if Leicester want to cash in. Would be good if he stayed.

Benkovic staying/ going Should not be a consideration in January window. We need 2 quality CH in this window. We need to be ready for European qualifiers. RB and another Striker in January would be a good window. A striker in the mould of Dembele would be nice.

5.) 06 Nov 2018 18:11:53
Not so Tompo88, a new and extended contract just means they'd get more for him if they did sell. HH.

6.) 06 Nov 2018 18:09:17
I agree with you Happy in what we need but sadly I can't see us getting any more than 1 new player 2 at the most.

7.) 06 Nov 2018 21:53:44
Yeah I get that BTC but was thinking it makes it less likely cause as you say it adds and extra 20 mill plus to the price. Still by no means rules it out. I'd be gutted if we lose Benkovic in January he really has steadied the ship.

8.) 07 Nov 2018 02:23:46
Going on 1st impressions, the bhoy benkovic is a cracking player. I would be astonished if we could come up with any kind of deal to extend his stay with us. However, we had our chance to go in a bit high before LCFC nipped in. Now we would more than likely have to offer them more than double of what our original bid was.

My point being, if we discover good players, we should stop messing about worrying about budgets.

I know it's just business from the board, but it affects us year on year during qualifiers.

You need to accumulate to speculate, not the other way round.

Although I'm absolutely delighted at how the team have performed over the last 4/ 5 weeks, a performance to be proud of in Europe seems to evade us.

The board can't sit on their a@$e this next window. We must recruit a player/ players of a higher standard.

It's the only way we can make inroads on Europe.

9.) 10 Nov 2018 07:58:18
How was Thursday's win in europe for u faddy? Were u proud? U should always be proud of the team.

10.) 10 Nov 2018 22:50:33
Celtic don’t budget to be in the CL every year, they budget to remain strong both on and off the field. We’ve already seen what reckless spending achieves across the other end of the city and I wouldn’t want us to go down that route.

I would sooner keep Ntcham for 2-3 years than have big Vic back on loan.
if Olly wants to leave then fair play that makes sense, however I think he's a cracking player and would prefer our own players than loans.

Forster aside - he's been immense.

Island celt

1.) 18 Dec 2019 13:15:48
Ad rather have both. Punt rogic move ntcham up to compete with christie for the 10spot.

2.) 18 Dec 2019 13:26:43
I like Rogic Kev but he certainly doesn’t give us much by way of return in terms of minutes. The question is does he do enough when he is available to warrant keeping? Unsure.

3.) 18 Dec 2019 13:38:27
What does he actually bring to the squad JFP?

His whole celtic career is built on smoke, mirrors and myths.

He hardly makes any assists and hardly scores any goals.
He has had one good 6 months in 7 years, scored a few bangers and I'd admit a few important ones but that's it.
Christie has now scored more goals before Xmas than rogic has ever scored in a season.
Add to that he's never fit and it's time to cut him loose.

4.) 18 Dec 2019 13:46:10
Between rogic jozo and koassi and bayo falling into that category as well we could have 2 decent players that actually having an Input.

16 Dec 2019 19:51:58
Ed just read your post, really sorry to hear what your (and many others) are dealing with.
Hope the Xmas isn't too tough. I'm getting on to your food bank donations page tonight.
Thanks for all the efforts on the site- I live down south and this site is the only I get the news on. I'm grumpy half the time but your post puts plenty in perspective
All the best.

{Ed007's Note - Thanks mate and thanks for your donation, that's us hit the £500 mark which is brilliant.}

1.) 16 Dec 2019 22:11:43
I seen that when I put it up, lucky timing! Hope it all goes to a good place.

{Ed007's Note - It will mate 👍

2.) 16 Dec 2019 22:55:56
Ed congratulations on hitting your target. It might not seem a huge figure, but to those who have nothing its massive. it gives hope. well done sir.

{Ed007's Note - I got up this morning to a donation of £100 from Albertz on the TRFC site which is absolutely fantastic, that's us up to £600.}

3.) 16 Dec 2019 23:31:48
Ed can you send details for donations.

{Ed007's Note - There's a link at the top of the page but here it is:

4.) 17 Dec 2019 12:10:29
Ed I'll donate on thursday if its not too late then. If it is I'll go down and hand some money in to the foodbank itself, is it the one down at the bottom cross? that's the only one I know of in hamilton.

{Ed007's Note - That's fine, Steph. Our page closes on Saturday so that people who are waiting for their holiday pay to land can donate. That's the one we help out but according to my Mrs there is a new one opening where the Aulds shop used to be. I'm not too sure if that's true or it's the original one moving as I can't see there being 2 in one town.}

5.) 17 Dec 2019 13:53:35
Ed the way things are heading under this mob I wouldn't be too surprised.

{Ed007's Note - Good point, Steph. Btw I've also heard that TJ Hughes had asked about the old BHS store and SLC refused to lower their extortionate business rates that are strangling the life out the centre.}

6.) 17 Dec 2019 17:58:40
Thats a disgrace by the way, slc are a shambles.

{Ed007's Note - I know mate, I'm never down in the town centre - the last time I was gutted to see Oliver's the bakers wasn't there lol - but my mrs and mum are always moaning about there being no decent shops and it's down to SLC.}

7.) 17 Dec 2019 20:30:26
I don't know what they're trying to do to town centres but most towns across most regions are the same. Coatbridge believe it or not used to be nowhere near the state it is just now, a lot of small businesses have bit the dust replaced by tan stands or curry shops. There's a serious drug problem everywhere which doesn't help matters, who wants to shop in a place where junkies are begging.

{Ed007's Note - It's a sorry state of affairs and the so called intelligent folk running things don't seem to be have any plans to make it better. I know parking charges are a big part of the problem in Hamilton but they should be doing what the can to attract the bigger more recognisable brands to open shops plus it would create local jobs.}

What a result
10 points after the draw we've had, absolute class.

Cheers lads
I always thought it was strange why he came back to Scotland after winning the big cup at Dortmund
Maybe he just liked the bumble bee strip.

Hard to imagine us signing a centre midfielder from the European champions now.

I always thought lambo was a bit unappreciated, but for me he was always a class operator on the pitch.
I never got to see the maestro in his pomp, as I came of age in the 90's but when lambo signed after winning the campions league it was a game changer. Burley and morten W both had great contributions to stop the 10, but for me Paul Lambert was the man.
Did he take over the captaincy from Tam Boyd? How long was he at Celtic for?

{Ed007's Note - I don't think Roberts has started game for Norwich. He really needs to get a permanent move away from City to get his career back on track. I'd be really surprised if Celtic had any interest in him now though stranger things have happened and we do still have close links with City through Lawwell's lad.}

The success of julian, Ajer and Bitton in the centre has led to simo moving out the picture.

Before with his injuries the lack of alternative options made us all want him to stay, but now we have better replacements we can afford him to move on and either replace or develop youngsters.
