This will cheer everyone up. Celtic sign Armstrong Okoflex. Remember. that guy we apparently signed months ago? Just announced today. That'll cheer everyone up about losing Dembele.

1.) 01 Sep 2018 11:52:42
pretty cynical announcement that. They must really think we're stupid.

{Ed007's Note - Armstrong Okoflex is a 16-year-old kid that signed a contract in July that only came into force on the 1st of September. I've no idea why it was done like that - maybe some red tape to do with signing kids - but he's been training with us since we returned to pre-season training.}

2.) 01 Sep 2018 11:58:54
Maybe his contract only started today? Even so it seems a strange story to put out just after punting Dembele. He says he wants to make his debut before he's 17 and he might just get that chance if Griff and Edouard are out at the same time, which isn't unlikely.

{Ed007's Note - He's mainly plays at left wing.}

3.) 01 Sep 2018 14:16:43
No harm to the boy and I feel for him being used like this welcome to the club son. Hope you become a star with us.

4.) 01 Sep 2018 14:24:34
It seems we have a lot of highly rated young wingers. Johnston, Morgan, Okoflex and Dembele. I see Karamoko turns 16 in the next 5 months would hope we can get him signed up to a 5 year deal can see a few big clubs try poaching him.

5.) 01 Sep 2018 16:33:36
That’s my fear. Some rich barstewards stealing him. Get him signed as soon as we can. Also looking forward to seeing young Morgan. I think he will be a real asset.

6.) 01 Sep 2018 16:30:50
Young dembele plays a lot at number 10 a lot as well does he not?

7.) 01 Sep 2018 17:04:52
Has the wee man got any taller?

30 Aug 2018 13:00:01
Mulumbu apparently about to be announced 🙄.

1.) 30 Aug 2018 13:18:52
Free ✔️
Low wages ✔️
Not any better than what we have ✔️
Perfect Celtic signing ✔️.

2.) 30 Aug 2018 13:19:12
Offs, the joke that is Celtic has just got funnier. Shocking if this is our level of quality signings. HH.

3.) 30 Aug 2018 13:22:53
I like him as a player but free so that'll mean no Chirivella. Just selling players and replacing them with loans or freebies. perfect strategy for improving that is!

4.) 30 Aug 2018 13:23:14
Announced as a Swansea player?

5.) 30 Aug 2018 13:24:20
Sell Dembele for 22m and bring mulumbu in for nowt, sounds about right me! Uninspired and desperate!

6.) 30 Aug 2018 13:24:24
Honest guys, is this where we are at? Seriously? Am I really asleep and having a feckin nightmare? HH.

7.) 30 Aug 2018 13:30:52
It looks like all we are going to bring in is loans or free transfers. We are a joke at the minute . We hear that we don’t depend on champions league money, then when we go out it seems like all fees for players stops.
How do they sell that one to Brendan, you are basically shopping in the loan market 🙈😡.

8.) 30 Aug 2018 13:37:31
Was brilliant against us last year to be fair. And can play either role in the middle of the park - can sit like brown or push forward like ntcham, like he did when he scored the winner against us.

9.) 30 Aug 2018 13:44:14
Certainly not the worst considering he was far too good for kilmarnock and I'm sure a fair few on here were naming him as a potential signing this summer back in march/ april.

Still need a defender and probably a striker if dembele goes. Maybe he won't but it's looking likely.

10.) 30 Aug 2018 13:47:21
Utter garbage of a signing - Celtic are fast becoming a laughing stock

Completely disgusted with news.

11.) 30 Aug 2018 13:52:29
Decent player though. Good competition for Ntcham who's been a bit off the boil. Definitely still need a CB and Striker at the very least.

12.) 30 Aug 2018 13:54:49
Popped 'mulumbu' inti the search bar and he was getting mentioned as recently as two weeks ago.

Seems opinion was split in April regarding His suitability however I was right, there are people om here who were suggesting him.

I'll reserve judgement til he's played half a Season but his experience could be mite useful than say, Luiz, who is young and Brazilian (lest we forget juninho, Rafael) .

Could be a modern day lubo? 😂.

13.) 30 Aug 2018 13:56:48
Average Player. Typical lack of scouting type signing and will not excite fans. Where has the money gone? I thought it was THEM that was broke! 👎😩.

14.) 30 Aug 2018 14:04:06
This guy was very good last season. Bossed quite a few I watched and played well against us.
Am scratching my head wondering why people are moaning that we are signing an experienced footballer who has played at a high level and knows this league and we are getting him for free?

15.) 30 Aug 2018 14:16:58
Too positive Kev83. Were having a whinge just now, didn't you know? It's not cool to be positive, brother.

16.) 30 Aug 2018 14:19:28
Mulumbu is a good addition he walked the league last year. He stood out in a good killie side last season.

Well experienced and a bit of muscle in the middle of the park. He will be great support for Broony and Ntcham.

Still hoping defence gets sorted.

Some of you guys mentioning a replacement for Dembele if he goes who would yous suggest or who do you think we could be looking at?

17.) 30 Aug 2018 14:29:47
I reckon someone that’s been scouted for before. We’ll be contacting anyone and everyone in regards to Dembele moving. I’m thinking Reo Griffiths will come our way on loan as part of the deal. Or Sardar Azmoun if we can get a deal.

18.) 30 Aug 2018 15:05:49
He’s a very decent SPL level player who will do fine for us in the league. But as a statement of intent this stinks.

19.) 30 Aug 2018 15:38:27
So our scouting policy now consists of.
- played against us in spl
- man city youth team
- loan from PL

Wtf is going on, we used to unearth gems now we scratch around the same limited markets.

The board obviously have some blame here however BR is in charge of football operations and from what I can see its a rubbish show.

Mcginn, mckenna, mulumbu. (31, not like our previous policy n reeks of panic like compper) .

Serious questions asked top to bottom if this is our only purchase, good player or not, this shows we are in a very precarious situation. Could've got him months ago if he was the man we wanted.

20.) 30 Aug 2018 15:58:34
I said last week after Sudava game we are in dire need of a box to box midfielder someone who can take the ball off the defenders and won't give it away, Mulumbu could definitely be that guy for sure. I know a lot of guys are shouting for defenders, I don't think this is our biggest problem especially in Europe. I've noticed that most of the pressure we come under in European games is when either our defenders can't find a pass as our midfield are not working hard enough to find space or our midfield are getting caught in possession with their backs to goal which will always cause trouble for most teams at that level.
Whilst it may not be the most inspiring signing I do feel he is exactly the type of player we have been crying put for. This guy very rarely gives the ball away and has a fantastic engine.
Just saying like 💚🍀 HH.

21.) 30 Aug 2018 16:15:07
Roy a said the same thing after the Athens shambles, the midfield either passed it back n put the defence under pressure or didn't show for a pass when playing out from the back. Can't say I've seen much of malumba but I'm a bit uninspired by it to be honest, desperate looking signing as someone pointed out he's been available all summer.

22.) 30 Aug 2018 16:38:16
Armstrong out mulumbu in isn't an improvement or a long terms solution, it's get a guy in because we've messed up n running out of time n that's the problem, it surely confirms we have no real strategy or shortlist of well Scouted targets.

No mcginn deal he could've been in straight after, why wait till now? Actions n timing say a lot imo.

29 Aug 2018 18:55:33
Seems Man City midfielder Luiz has agreed a loan to Fernebache.

1.) 29 Aug 2018 19:43:03
We are crap at getting deals done.

2.) 29 Aug 2018 20:38:27
Exactly WC. I don't know if it's arrogance or incompetence or a mixture of the two but our transfer dealings are a total embarrassment every year. HH.

3.) 29 Aug 2018 21:28:08
I would lean toward the incompetence although once they signed Edouarde, there would have been a lot of smug back patting.

4.) 29 Aug 2018 23:51:06
Was we really after Luiz like pushing for a deal to be done? Just seems City was using us as a possible avenue of getting an easy work permit for Luiz. I'd much rather a permanent deal for Chirivella than a loan for Luiz. Can see that being a possibility as well as John Terry and maybe Benkovic and Solanke on loan too.

{Ed007's Note - How about this for a window before I go to bed...

John Terry on a free, Gary Cahill on loan with Chirivella and Nick Powell both bought?

And I've hacked Rich T's webcam....

5.) 30 Aug 2018 00:26:53
Id take that . its better than were getting at the moment . cahill would be a nice wee dream to wake upto . are us bhoys allowed to dream these days
Hail Hail.

{Ed007's Note - Do cyborgs dream of electric sheep..... Does Martine McCutcheon and Natalie Robb dream of your humble correspondent....

6.) 30 Aug 2018 12:04:58
That's no going to happen is it?

27 Aug 2018 08:06:38
Apparently being linked to a season long loan for Benkovic if Boyata leaves. Yet to make Leicesters squad since signing for £13m on a 5 year deal.

1.) 27 Aug 2018 08:32:36
We'll need to do something as I don't fancy putting our defence without boyata into the people game. Even if we get new players in n sell boyata what a baptism of fire for the new guy/ s, club have dithered here giving little to no time to bed in players is a joke.

Not that it wasn't obvious, but it is Abundantly clear their has been no CH signing strategy this year. Basic planning would know contracts and players situation, dates of key games and dates of window to get players in and ready for key fixtures. Everything we are doing now is rushed n reactionary, bad enough it wasn't sorted for CL qualifications, if we go into the first Derby with hendry, ajer n jozo as only CHs options then someone at celtic needs to be taken to task.

2.) 27 Aug 2018 08:37:02
Didn't we try to sign him before he went there?

3.) 27 Aug 2018 09:08:20
Yeah we've been linked with him for a few seasons. But clearly out of our price range. I got some stick in work when we was knocked out of CL as all the guys support Leicester so I was saying you lot can loan us Benkovic seeing as he's not making the squad. Again though it's a loan answer isn't immediately solving the CB issue but he is quality. Come the CL qualifiers next season (potentially) are we going to try qualify being short at the back again.

4.) 27 Aug 2018 09:17:34
Agree Kmax and Jozo or Boyata didn't exactly cover themselves in glory last season against them in the 3-2 game.

5.) 27 Aug 2018 10:34:53
Watching last night's Sportscene and it's the first time I have seen Sevco Steve's team so far. They reminded me of the Jock Wallace side of the 70's power and pace, kick and rush football and although I thought Motherwell looked to have outplayed them (particularly in the second half) , we will need to be strong and especially quick at the back down either wing to cut out crosses.
Apart from that if you look at the bigger picture, OK we have had defensive problems and our strikers/ attackers are off the boil; but we have dominated possession in almost every game and a better final ball and finishing will make all the difference.
The best TRIFC 2012 team ever assembled have just conceded three and sit a point behind a struggling Celtic - what's all the fuss?

6.) 27 Aug 2018 11:37:59
So is the window shut this Friday?

7.) 27 Aug 2018 12:05:24
Aye MP.

8.) 27 Aug 2018 16:28:53
I have no doubt that he is a good player but I don't think it says a lot about our scouting system/ board just now if at this late in the window all we can come up with as a loan signing I am sure there is good / better CBs than what we have out there that we can afford to be our player not just to panic loan to try to appease the supporters YES we had one of the best defence records last year but in Europe we were found out badly I for one am still angry we did not fix that AT THE START OF THE WINDOW we might have still been in the CL qualifiers if we had.

9.) 27 Aug 2018 22:42:48
Benkovic? a guy the board refused to pay about £5-6 million for?

Lol, typical board behaviour.

10.) 28 Aug 2018 07:06:40
We were told the price was 20 million euros.

11.) 28 Aug 2018 18:06:06
We have given new players baptisms of fire in matches against Rangers1872 before without any obvious problems.

27 Aug 2018 02:42:48
Seen this about the guy we are meant to be interested in. Samir Memisevic has been awarded the Man of the match as FC Groningen beat De Graafschap 1-0.

- 13/ 16 tackles won.
- 8/ 9 aerial duels won.
- 6 clearances.
- 1 interception

Guy looks like he can defend. Also linked with French CB Moukoudi too. Boyata, Compper out. Moukoudi, Memišević in. one can hope.

1.) 27 Aug 2018 05:50:09
Anybody know if there is any truth in these or just Twitter rumours?

2.) 27 Aug 2018 10:33:25
Memisevic link is nonsense. A celtic site said we shoukd sign him to be the next van Dijk purely because he plays for Groningen.

The Bosnian media obviously picked up on this and a day or 2 later ran with a story that we were interested in him.

3.) 27 Aug 2018 11:30:27
I know I pointed that out the other day but it is a rumours site after all.

Kris Boyd coming out and saying Celtic is predictable but Brendan Rodgers won't change it. The teams have us sussed out. I think that's probably the best thing to happen maybe Brendan needs to read what players in the league think of us (him) in order for us to change things. The tactics worked winning a double treble but it isn't anymore. Hopefully that article will humble him and we see a different approach from now onwards.

{Ed007's Note - So we're listening to Kris Boyd now? Maybe we should get him in as manager if he knows so much, maybe even just to coach the strikers eh?}

1.) 25 Sep 2018 09:14:13
Birds a fecking moron, whose got on the delusion train. The truth is simple. We are out of form all over the park. We have less options to change it after the window, but we still have enough to do it. All it needs is the players we have to step up to the plate. Take all the rubbish being written and spoken and yes that as motivation to ram it down their throats.

If they think it’s over they are even more gullible that I thought. And believe me that was total.

2.) 25 Sep 2018 11:07:57
Said it before it's the game plan, if money was no object say we signed wanyama and van dijk and lakaku probably cost us upwards of 170-180m do you think with the 70% of our possession pass pass pass rubbish sitting in our own defence these players would make a massive difference I'm not too sure they would in fact I'm positive they wouldn't, the players are paid enough they should be thrashing the rest of the spfl easy but they are not they turned Up against rangers though which tells me there may be issues within the squad and the manager that's what needs fixed and the tactics if they get fixed we will start smashing teams again when Brendan managed Swansea they played fast attacking football 433 formation really good to watch this is not how Brendan like to play its very strange.

3.) 25 Sep 2018 12:17:12
I read an article by a Darren Coney earlier about celtic. (I usually don't read the daily rectum but I was bored in the hospital ) . It's like a rangers fanzines article. These guys don't even try to hide what they are anymore. Celtic have hit a bad patch whilst rangers are winning and doing well for a few games and the world's great but when celtic are winning everything scottish footballs pish! We will get our act together and this blip will be forgotten when we win the league. Celtic have lost only 6 games in the league since Brendan took charge. We haven't lost any domestic cup games yet it's a crisis!

4.) 25 Sep 2018 13:28:48
Personally the players are where I’m pointing my finger .
The vast majority have been there long enough to know their role in the team . for me Brown, Teirney, Boyata, are among the very few pulling their weight .
The biggest culprits are simunovic and Sinclair who have gave very little return in over a season now . that’s too long to be called off form .

01 Sep 2018 11:48:26
Anyone think Ben Arfa and Lacina Traore would be worth a punt as free agents?

1.) 01 Sep 2018 13:00:34
Adam Maher anyone?

2.) 01 Sep 2018 13:28:29
Would hope the 'laptop scouts' overseen by clueless Congerton are doing the same as you guys and trying to identify a 'free' striker?
LG has had his injury problems and big Eddy is just recovering; so that would leave us with Christie or Sinclair filling-in and a very lightweight forward line. There must be someone for the short term, until the next (sorry her'e that word again) 'window'.

3.) 01 Sep 2018 14:19:04
Traore would be a great signing. He's a giant and would give us a different option up front.

4.) 01 Sep 2018 14:51:35
Would 100% take Ben Arfa. Quality player with bags of ability and different to what we have at the moment. Not sure if he brings some unwanted baggage though.

5.) 01 Sep 2018 15:27:09
Agree Ice man it seems he does carry some baggage. Seen he was meant to be disruptive at Newcastle and has fitness issues too but a class players no doubt. Maybe he's changed in all those years.

30 Aug 2018 19:38:41
Anyone know where you can watch the game tonight? Is it on Celtic TV?

{Ed007's Note - Yes it's on CelticTV or here's a stream:

1.) 30 Aug 2018 19:46:22
Thanks Ed much appreciated 👍.

{Ed007's Note - No worries.}

26 Aug 2018 18:04:54
3 points is what was needed but apart from wasteful finishing and good defending it was always comfortable. Thought when needed we defended well passed well from defence. even Gordon completed a few. Boyata as much as he should get punted steadied the ship and done a professional job despite the banner and criticism aimed towards him. Now we just need to get some faces in and move a few out and freshen the squad up before the weekend.

1.) 26 Aug 2018 18:27:44
There's no doubt about the need to improve, but it's not just a new face or two that could help; there are still a few out there that are not doing it - and underperforming against much weaker opposition.
I've no idea what is going to happen to Allen, Christie, Biton, Eboue, Benyu and Hayes over the next week or so, but guys like Rogic and Forrest need to know there are players ready to step-in if and when they continue to tread water and offer very little.
Generally, we created and missed a lot of chances, but a clean sheet was long overdue and it's better than the previous couple of games were we created very little and conceded soft goals.

2.) 26 Aug 2018 19:12:36
Didnt see the game so can't comment. Hear it was slow and ponderous? Did watch the Motherwell game. Rangers are no great side but they play like Hearts, lots of running and fight. Morales did little. Lafferty is a handful but they have a very effective left back. Great at crossing on the run. He will run Lustic ragged so we need some help on our right side. No sideways passing they run with the ball. We need to get control of the ball. If we do they have little to offer but break very fast and it really depends if we are up for the fight. If welay as we can we will win but if we go all pedestrian and allow them to throw balls into the box time and time again we will be in trouble so BR needs to get some energy into our team. If ee can get Eddy and Moussa up front we will get goals. Going forward they are good but the defence plays quite deep. In reality we should not get beaten by thst mob. Nothing great but they all give 110% and the left back is class. that's where all their attacks come from. Stop them playing there and we should be ok but we need some legs and energy or we will make it difficult for ourselves. They do play a very open game so we will get chances its about our defence coping with the cross ball. Gordon needs to start commanding the box better.

3.) 27 Aug 2018 01:19:32
When will Morgan be available? .

4.) 27 Aug 2018 06:16:34
I think it was a knee problem. Another 3 to 4 weeks i believe but who knows. Might be longer.

25 Aug 2018 13:34:54
What's people's thoughts on team tomorrow? Hopefully rest a few key players for Thursday. I'd go with

Gamboa Hendry Ajer Izzy
Ntcham Kouassi
Hayes Rogic Sinclair

1.) 25 Aug 2018 13:41:49
Hayes? Are you mental?

2.) 25 Aug 2018 14:12:02
£uck Thursday. We've already seen what happens when we take our eye off it against hearts. Full strength for me.

3.) 25 Aug 2018 16:06:31
Exactly Stephbhoy2. Rest players? We are hardly playing a European gaint on Thursday. It's consistency we now at the min. I know l might get shot for this but if Scott Allan is not going to go out on loan is it not worth giving him a chance as the guy has an eye for a pass. He did well for hibs last season on loan. I won't have kouassi anywhere near the side. Unfortunately for me all he seems to do is pass sideways.

4.) 25 Aug 2018 20:54:01
If he picked a team like that above, I would personally demand his sacking before Thursday . We have to beat Hamilton on Sunday, that is our priority at this stage .

5.) 26 Aug 2018 01:09:22
We need to play our full strength team and get back to winning well. Play same side Thursday and sunday.

Gordon's just as a big a liability as Hendry is. Hopefully we can sell Jozo and Compper in Jan (pay off) and BUY a new CB and settle him in. Another CB to follow in summer after Boyata and Benkovic leaves. If Boyata leaves before then we'd need 2 so maybe keep Jozo until summer. Surely Ralston can't be as big a liability as Lustig has been lately. Or Gamboa for that matter. Especially playing as a wing back I think he could excel. We need a new RW in Jan that'll score and create lots to replace the void left by PR7 and as mentioned Nick Powell too as he can play both CAM and ST. No idea what has happened to Ntcham if his forms dipped because of Porto, The moose or he's fed up now but if he doesn't want to be here then he needs to go. The money raised by him can surely get a like for like replacement in Chirivella with change. The biggest hope is a new #1 GK in summer.

That just points out it's down to recruitment and management then. There's plenty of leagues we can sign players from and pay better wages. And it goes down to tactics and getting the best out of what you have which right now we aren't doing.

He does need to add more goals and assists to his game that's dried up since halfway through last season. But Rogic doesn't score or create enough for a CAM for Celtic yet he seems to avoid criticism. I like Forrest in Europe he gets us up the pitch with his pace.

Can't complain with half them players leaving but maybe say Hazard, Ralston and Kouassi leave as a loan. As mentioned can see us splashing the cash to get in Powell who can cover both ST and CAM. RB and CB priority, Money needing spent not loans. Possibly a LW (loan) if Arzani is sent back to Citeh.

The way Salzburg played was how we played under BR in our first season. Fast attacking football. Pressing all over the park to win possession and mounting wave after wave of attack. We haven't seen that since early part last season. I don't know if the players aren't fit enough to do that all season or they just can't be bothered with the philosophy anymore. We seem too slow in our build up from the back and our attack is boring, slow sideways passing and minimal movement. We lack physicality up front and creativity out wide with the form of Sinclair and Forrest up and down. But again lack of movement and hesitancy up front isn't help either Wideman. Griffiths looks fat and unfit too. He isn't half the player he was doesn't play on the shoulder wanting the ball over the top anymore either. He seems to try come short and hold the ball up which isn't his strong point thus leaving him further away from goal where he's most affective. Everyone just needs to get their finger out from the board to the manager to the players as this isn't current form isn't good enough. This is the important month as the top teams all likely to drop points against each other, October is the month we need to find top gear and put a marker down and get back to the top of the league.

The fear is seeing the ball passed between Boyata, Lustig, Hendry and Gordon hundreds of times. All aren't great passers of the ball and all are indecisive and take to long to make their mind up which just allows the opposition to press and steal possession off us. It's boring to see how long it takes us to get from defence to midfield when opposition teams can do it 20 passes quicker.

We are the champions we shouldn't be moved. We should get preferential treatment. Instead we are the ones moved as it suits Rangers and is more inconvenience and disadvantage to us as Hearts played their home games there last season.
