Akashkert of Armenia in cl away first.

1.) 19 Jun 2018 12:00:18
What a belter of a tie for Cork City. Don't think either club will be happy with that draw.

2.) 19 Jun 2018 13:47:03
It's a lengthy trip and it's a high altitude over there but we should be comfortable over two legs.

3.) 19 Jun 2018 14:04:06
Rosenberg or Rekyavjik in game 2. Rosenberg then.

4.) 19 Jun 2018 15:38:54
I'm happy enough with that. We were too strong for Rosenborg last season without a striker or a central defence.

5.) 20 Jun 2018 08:06:24
Hot, very hot and sticky place. Tough for the first real run out but home should kill them.

14 Jun 2018 13:48:37
Sky saying we've bid 9 mill and should b done in 24 hrs for eddy.

1.) 14 Jun 2018 15:02:55
Obviously a substantial outlay for us, but he's worth it all day long. Great news! Even more excited about this signing as I was Dembele.

2.) 14 Jun 2018 16:29:05
No way in hell is the figure £9m in my opinion.

{Ed007's Note - I agree with you. (yes)

3.) 14 Jun 2018 16:54:59
I'll be over the moon if it's lower. It could be a right steal if that's the case bhoys.

4.) 14 Jun 2018 17:51:03
Sly would have caught wind of the deal going through taking the initial fee and writing a story. I reckon it will be 4-5m with add ons.

5.) 14 Jun 2018 18:34:25
STV saying £9m agreed with PSG. Just personal terms to sort now 👍.

6.) 14 Jun 2018 19:20:09
I’ll believe it when Celtic announce the deal.

7.) 14 Jun 2018 19:48:19
Buzzing for this new season Treble Treble Here we go for 10 in a row 🍀🇮🇪.

22 Apr 2018 18:29:40
Ed you heard anything regarding the young Swedish defender we've been linked with.

{Ed007's Note - I've no idea who you're talking about, Mally.}

1.) 22 Apr 2018 20:10:47
Thomas Isherwood from Bayern Munich. He’s only 20 which would cause me to doubt it as we need somebody at least mid-20’s to add a bit of experience to help guys like Ajer and Hendry.

{Ed007's Note - He certainly ticks all the boxes and it appears he is out of contract this summer although some of the reports say he has a year to run.}

2.) 22 Apr 2018 20:38:09
Cheers ed seen a report we've been linked to a young Bayern defender who s out of contract.

{Ed007's Note - The sources are a bit dubious but I'll keep an eye out for any mention of him.}

3.) 22 Apr 2018 20:51:56
Surely something would have to give in that case. Jozo, Erik and Boyata all leaving maybe? I just can’t see BR being happy to go with so many rookies.

{Ed007's Note - I wouldn't be surprised to see all three of them leaving, Kev. I think there will be more outs than ins this summer, the squad is still needing trimmed down and more quality added. Word dripping down from within the Club is that Rodgers and Congerton were scathing in their assessment to Lawwell regarding the squad being able to make the next step in Europe.}

4.) 22 Apr 2018 21:36:01
The worry is will PL do anything about it?

{Ed007's Note - Rodgers will get everything he can off of Pedro and then some.}

5.) 23 Apr 2018 13:08:00
With the VVD money, CL money and player sales (Dembele being the biggest asset) surely there is huge funds there to add quality to the team, particularly in defence. With players like Dembele, Bitton, Jozo, Boyata, Sviatchenko, Gamboa being moved on we should be expecting at least £30m in player sales. Be good to get half of that at least.

6.) 23 Apr 2018 19:22:18
Our recent signings don’t suggest we will splash the cash. Hendry, Kouassi, Bain (loan) Morgan? Will they make us better in Europe?

7.) 23 Apr 2018 20:40:22
What's the word on MD being fit for Sunday ED?

{Ed007's Note - He should be fine.}

8.) 23 Apr 2018 22:53:43
Fingers crossed ED.

9.) 23 Apr 2018 23:55:05
It is highly unlikely that we will buy a centre half in his mid 20's no matter what any supporter thinks. Why buy any player at an age when his transfer fee is at his highest? Doesn't make sense because if he is any good the richer clubs in Europe and any club in Championship or EPL would out bid us and we would only have wasted our time . If we cannot buy and play centre backs around 20 years old, we will have to forget about it.

10.) 24 Apr 2018 07:22:14
The big clubs only have space for so many central defenders Chris. There have to be gems out there ready to be picked up.

11.) 24 Apr 2018 17:36:27
I'm glad we've got a manager that has the full respect and backing from the board, it's good that both Rodgers and congerton can go to lawell and make demands. I'm also glad that Rodgers realises we need serious upgrades that defence won't cut it in Europe.

12.) 24 Apr 2018 20:38:58
Good thing about the summer window now is that the window shuts down south on the 9th August, we could pick up a couple of players at a decent price that have been told they don't have a future.

13.) 24 Apr 2018 21:31:26
You would thinks, Kevbhoy, the top forty clubs in England and countless clubs on the continent can all out bid us easily in wages and buying price. Judging by the little bit of Enlish football I watch, there could be plenty of clubs needing centre halves . That is if you need to buy rather than coach and develop mistakes out of c/ b.

14.) 02 May 2018 21:56:04
Brendan shouldn't be too scathing to Lawell as after all Brendan would have sold himself as an improver of young footballers and a man with a good eye for talent . After two years, he may look in the mirror if he hasn't the right personnel for bringing things foreward next season .
Luck of the draw is perhaps as important as the make- up of the Celtic team . I think it would be beyond us for a long time to qualify for Champions league out of either of the last two yrs.

13 Apr 2018 16:27:46
Rumour Armstrong struggling for Sun big blow if he misses out.

1.) 13 Apr 2018 20:13:00
Aye agree his pace and runs will be a big loss Ntcham has been in good form but it's that's penitrating run we may miss that could make the difference especially in the big Pitch fingers crossed HH.

2.) 13 Apr 2018 20:49:02
I would probs start nitcham on Sunday over a fully fit Armstrong anyways going on nitchams performance at Ibrox last time we reminded them who the champs are the guy was quality that day. hail hail.

03 Apr 2018 18:10:57
Allegedly Dundee have turned down 2mill for caulker strange one that.

Ment to post last night but did anyone catch the BBC team after that excuse for a football match the pundits were waxing lyrical about the game. a must have been watching a different game couldn't believe what a was hearing. deary me.

1.) 19 Jun 2018 08:23:38
Mally, that was allegedly the best performance of this world cup.

2.) 19 Jun 2018 08:41:39
Let them build it up. Then when they get knocked out it will be funny as you know what!

3.) 19 Jun 2018 09:07:56
They played well for 15-20 minutes and should have been at least three up, after that? not so much. If Tunisia had one direct fast player they might have caused them real trouble, by far the better passing team but just couldn't strike sharply enough.

4.) 19 Jun 2018 09:19:38
I live in the north east of England and the way they're all going on is like they're nailed on to win the whole thing. I'd love to see big Boyata knock superman Kane about twenty feet up in the air,

5.) 19 Jun 2018 09:24:55
To be fair to the actual team, they are young with decent players, and Kane is excellent, but the pundits before, during and after completely did my nut in.

6.) 19 Jun 2018 09:38:45
Agree good 20 mins and then nothing the rest of the performance was overlooked against an awful Tunisian team.

7.) 19 Jun 2018 09:49:36
Scotlands best 11 would have beaten them last night.

8.) 19 Jun 2018 10:28:36
In their actual clubs Kane is the only one who is top dog the rest are average at best over paid over hyped wee boys. They aren’t strong enough in defence or midfield but saying that the bigger teams have struggled also Argentina Germany Brazil you never know? Anyway that’s international footie I can’t wait for the real stuff to start again and see what Brendan’s third season melt down will be like as uj would put it? HH make mines a treble treble ⚽️🍀🙂🏆🏆🏆.

9.) 19 Jun 2018 15:06:05
I watched the match on RTE ( Irish Television ) funny the plundits on their didn't exactly see England in the same light.

16 Jun 2018 15:56:10
Good on Iceland population 3mill over to u ebt man.

1.) 16 Jun 2018 16:37:38
Population 3 million? Don't think so, it's nowhere near that.

2.) 16 Jun 2018 16:46:14
Population 300,000.

3.) 16 Jun 2018 17:43:42
It's unbelievable what they have achieved in football considering there's less people in they're country than there are in North Lanarkshire. Time to start eating skyr, rotten fish and puffin eggs.

4.) 16 Jun 2018 18:34:12
A dunno Steph the ones in NL with big bingo wings count twice and their is plenty of them out there 😝😝👍.

16 Jun 2018 12:17:44
Jeezo var and the ref still gets it wrong.

{Ed007's Note - I'm totally 100% against VAR being used. The rules of football are supposed to be universal and the same for every team and player, so why should a WC, CL or Pub League game be decided by VAR while a team in the lower leagues might miss out on promotion because of a wrongly disallowed goal or a penalty not given?
The rules of the game should be same at every level, next we'll have the Sunday morning Da's videoing their kids games and using the footage to contest the ref's decisions.}

1.) 16 Jun 2018 12:43:54
A can of worms that should have remained shut.

2.) 16 Jun 2018 13:06:00
Quite right Ed.

{Ed007's Note - Thanks.}

3.) 16 Jun 2018 12:35:53
Spot on ed watching the Aussie game never a pen for france and that's after var.

4.) 16 Jun 2018 13:46:27
It's wasting the game in my opinion. How can u be celebrating a goal n keep one eye on the ref to be told if it's given. Crap.

5.) 16 Jun 2018 16:02:35
Some of these games are going to end up with 10 minutes or more extra time because of it.

6.) 16 Jun 2018 16:11:50
I think it’s a penalty tbh. The follow through catches Griezmann’s heel for me.

7.) 16 Jun 2018 18:35:28
Cuts out honest mistakes. I support it. Nothing worse than a cheat or a bozo costing you games.

8.) 17 Jun 2018 09:31:12
Sorry Ed, have to disagree on this.
I am sick to the back teeth of players cheating.
THEY know they are cheating and the result could be a team being relegated, a manager sacked, players put on the dole, clubs going broke, and let's not forget the effect on those supporters who spend their hard-earned money to follow their team around the country and Europe. (large outlay to see your team cheated) .
I have even heard pundits calling it "gaining an advantage"
Your point about level playing fields is fair enough to a point.
If ALL the teams in any single division are playing by the same rules then the playing field is level.
If a team is promoted into a division where VAR etc is used then it will apply to them and they again are part of a level playing field.
The ref cannot see the game from all angles and VAR helps him.
The follow-up to this (imo) is to punish the cheater really hard and maybe stamp it out.

{Ed001's Note - I am 100% with you on this TT. Having VAR should make match fixing more difficult as well.}

9.) 17 Jun 2018 13:13:10
If only it had been around to catch that cheat Thierry Henri.

10.) 19 Jun 2018 15:21:20
Having Var will make match fixing easier . The person who asks ref to have a look has great powers and just maybe could see the need different if there was a £100k package awaiting him.

09 Jun 2018 14:23:50
Could we have seen the last of Armstrong crystal palace supposed to be kean. Armstrong out mcginn in.

1.) 09 Jun 2018 14:43:56
one pays for the other.

2.) 09 Jun 2018 17:10:35
If that happens - although I will miss Armstrong - it would mean we have lost a very good midfielder who never really had Celtic at heart, but we will gain another who loves the club and has great potential to be a Celtic great.

3.) 09 Jun 2018 17:13:30
If we sold Armstrong and got McGinn in for the same or less, that would be decent business.

4.) 10 Jun 2018 00:52:57
I hope not, I would play McGinn and Armstrong together.

5.) 10 Jun 2018 01:29:03
And where would u put broon and Ntcham.

6.) 10 Jun 2018 04:44:01
I really like Armstrong
OAB but if he really had celtic at heart he would of signed longer than 2 years after messing us about for the majority of last summer window.

7.) 10 Jun 2018 04:46:48
I misread your post OAB. Completely agree.

8.) 10 Jun 2018 05:44:48
I too like Armstrong and would prefer him to sign long term. If, and i don't know the facts, he is not prepared to sign a new 3 to 4 year deal then he must be sold asap. Anything over £4m would be a decent fee with only a year to run on his current deal.

9.) 10 Jun 2018 07:35:12
As he is our biggest goal threat from midfield and best at driving us up the park I would prefer him to stay.

If he goes I'm not sure mcginn would be the ideal replacement as does not offer same goal threat.

10.) 10 Jun 2018 07:39:26
The boss has handled this impeccably. With Callum now a starter and Rogic signed on for another 5 Armstrong looks now like an appendage to a very dynamic midfield. He has qualities--but quality alone ain't enough to make it in the hoops. See ya.

11.) 10 Jun 2018 10:19:56
He's not been our biggest threat from MF for most of the season. C. Mc has been doing that and doing a pretty decent job imo. I would always start with him nowadays.

12.) 10 Jun 2018 12:29:06
I'd get rid of Armstrong tomorrow if the cash was to be invested in Mcginn, the boys got great potential and wouldn't be far off running the show for us.

13.) 10 Jun 2018 13:14:35
I don't think he is our biggest threat from midfield TR and CMcG are in Armstrong's case he only signed what he did so we knew the score and the lay of the land

He wasn't the player last season like the player he was the season before if he wants to go to Brighton or Crystal Palace let him that PUB league as Ed calls it is vastly becoming farcical because the biggest VIEWING figures last year was the Sevco game says a lot about there league doesn't it

If I were to pick FIVE players I did not want to leave Celtic he would not make the top five (Y)

14.) 10 Jun 2018 13:27:35
Although he’s certainly not Celtic minded I prefer Armstrong by a mile, McGinn is overrated over valued in a mid level premier league team.

15.) 10 Jun 2018 13:52:05
Armstrong is surely worth £5mill? Johanson who went to Fulham would get £10mill all day long if he was sold so Armstrong for £5mill? Decent business if he wants to go.

16.) 10 Jun 2018 13:58:26
@ Shugmckie: yeah mate but Armstrong has been injured a lot this season. Nut this has then allowed Cal Mac to come into the team more, which ha been great.

17.) 10 Jun 2018 14:10:36
Rogic plays a different position to Armstrong, although they are both capable of playing number 10 and CM.

While McGregor can play CM, his most prolific spell is when he was playing further up the park.

I am considering Armstrong as a CM in this instance and comparing him to others who play the role. At the moment his main contender for the role is Ntcham.

I do concede that Armstrong did not have a great season this year but he was out for a long spell with a hernia and I suspect that hampered his performances earlier in the season.

No one at Celtic in the CM produced figures like Armstrong did last season and I am sure he can get back to that standard.

I know that some of you have different opinions from me and that is absolutely fine but as far as I see it I would prefer Armstrong to McGinn.

18.) 10 Jun 2018 14:53:13
I would definitely keep Armstrong. Injury has blighted his season but that boy is head and shoulders above most of our midfield. Hope he stays🍀🍀🍀.

19.) 10 Jun 2018 16:38:12
Mgregor has scored more than Armstrong.

20.) 10 Jun 2018 17:15:53
On last seasons form, regardless of stats or positions played i think our 3 most consistent and influential midfielders were Brown, Ntcham and McGregor.

21.) 10 Jun 2018 17:18:39
Yes this season McGregor has scored more than Armstrong but McGregor's stats for this season do not compare with Armstrong's from last season.

22.) 10 Jun 2018 18:07:42
Raw . he has more goals in total.

23.) 10 Jun 2018 18:49:47
McGregor has scored 3 more goals than Armstrong but played 24 games more.

Armstrong has only had one top season at Celtic and in that season he scored more than McGregor has ever scored in a season.

Anyway this is all moot as I'm not comparing McGregor with Armstrong. The point being discussed is Armstrong or McGinn. My view is Armstrong is a better player than McGinn and for that reason I would not want to swap one for the other.

24.) 10 Jun 2018 19:06:29
I honestly think everyone is looking past the ability of Mcginn and what he'd bring to the team, Leedscelt says he's mid level! Put him in amongst our midfield and he'll come on leaps and bounds.

25.) 10 Jun 2018 20:03:22
I would like him to stay but I would not put him in ahead of Ollie now but accepted he is a bit different and would be content for him to continue

I honestly don't see why he is not like LG and happy there you could pick ten rubbish teams in that EPL easily 👍.

26.) 10 Jun 2018 20:56:25
Raw . that's the point Armstrong has had one good season . whether he stays and improves remains to be seen seen . mgregor has improved season on season . not looking to wind you up or start an argument . was pointing out mgregors stats as response to your statement about Armstrong being our biggest goal threat from midfield. re mginn remember how many people where down on Armstrong when he signed . similar scenario?

27.) 10 Jun 2018 22:47:40
@DRB - As I pointed out earlier it is all about opinions and it is absolutely fine for you to have a different one from me mate.

By the way I am not saying Armstrong should be in the team ahead of McGregor and I agree that McGregor has had a fine season for us this year.

My point is I would prefer Armstrong over McGinn and I think an in form Armstrong is our biggest goal threat from CM.

28.) 11 Jun 2018 00:21:19
IT really does show how little we have to talk about this window, when we have so many posts about Armstrong and McGinn.

02 Jun 2018 07:01:10
Big Sutton spot on with his assessment of the Celtic squad hope they read it and take heed.

1.) 02 Jun 2018 09:11:56
Spot on Mallly particulary with respect to Sinclair and Armstrong. His comment that Rodgers initially dressed up Sinclair’s performances with statistics from earlier in the season is what happened on here when I suggested he had massively failed to reach the heights of the previous season and in my view had been piss poor. As for Armstrong no doubting his ability but massive question mark for me over his commitment and desire. Great player but if his heart isn’t at Celtic Park punt him. His praise and exhoneration of Broon, McGreggor, Rogic, KT and the much maligned Forrest was also on the money. ☘️.

2.) 02 Jun 2018 10:17:20
Yep agree with that jfp wee griff and Armstrong need to stay fit and get a run of games.

3.) 02 Jun 2018 10:29:37
Just read the whole article. Fair and honest assessment imo. I am one who sees a game for what it is, by that i mean performance wise as opposed to stats so i think Sutton is spot on.

4.) 03 Jun 2018 12:20:10
forrest was poor the whole second half of the season.

5.) 03 Jun 2018 22:03:04
Chris spot on apart from his Forrest assessment. Half a season isn’t good enough.
