Keep hearing that we need a complete clear out and rebuild in the summer. Above the level of manager, I couldn't agree more. Don't agree on the playing side. The problem we have at this club is the same one we have always had and that's going back decades, in that that we don't address issues that are obvious and present. We can't continue the boom or bust mentality. A couple of quality additions each window would keep the squad fresh even allowing for some of the better players moving ( this is always going to happen) without too much impact provided the replacements are up to scratch. This would allow the development of projects and youth to gain experience without being thrown in and slaughtered for not being immediate superstars. The better teams fine tune their squads each window, they don't bulldoze and rebuild. For this to happen, we need to lose the dinosaurs at board level who continually hold us back.

2 quality players every window is better than 7 average players. its always been our problem and it has to change.

If you have quality and experience it’s easier to blood projects and youth. Good players improve those around them. Which is why our performances of late haven’t been so great. With a better squad the injuries we’ve had don’t also impact so bad. Know it’s stating the bleeding obvious but had the same gripe for more years than I care to remember and nothing seems to change.

Another problem with this Board is whenever we look like we could have the makings of a good team - they sell the best players.

We are unlikely to be able to sign the finished article these days (unless they are Scottish) , so when we sign players we are always going to have to develop them.

I personally don't have a problem with that and think it is the best route for where we are in the football pyramid.

However, I do think we need to improve in two key areas regarding this strategy. If we are going to develop players then we need to be bringing in the best coaches that we can attract. I would be happy to pay top dollar to attract top coaches and it will be far cheaper than paying a top player, so well within our price range.

I would also like to see us going for a higher standard of project player, which means we need to improve our scouting to identify them early and snap them up quick. We also need to increase the amount we are willing to spend to attract the top prospects.
