I was so sad to hear this, we affectionately called him Fat Pat.
He was a great player in a great team,
I believe he gave Big Billy one more season.
God Bless Pat, thanks for many memories.

Is he related to George?

They were not related.

Thanks GED

When did he play, in terms of seasons?

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Aug 2020 21:23:09
Is. James McCarthy on his way? For me this is the natural replacement for Broony, it. Also allows us to use Cal Mac where we want.

Hope not. Just as injury prone as Rogic.

Somebody needs to make good use of the treatment table if rogic leaves!

He seems to be fit now as he played most of palaces games last season.

I was disappointed Duffy didn’t sign today.
We wake up to reports he’s on a flight which wasn’t to London.
I think it’s dragged on too long now.
Celtic should go out and buy a left footed CB to give us better balance at the back.
The recruitment team have known for over 8 months that Celtic needed a left footed CB since we started playing a 3-5-2 formation.
Up until now they have failed to find someone suitable.

Teams like Aston villa have no cash and its only the top Premier teams that have any money so eddy wouldn't even play in these lower premier teams why would he that's a back ward step he wants to play in Europe dembelle was the same so I think he will stay till 10 as he is loved here.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

24 Aug 2020 21:07:10
No cash! Aston Villa spent a fortune in last summers transfer window! Every EPL team blows us out the water when it comes to money! They are all living off the sky money gravy train and it doesn’t look like stopping anytime soon!

Agree1 Disagree0

24 Aug 2020 21:07:30
Aston Villa have one of the richest owners in the Premier League who is a member of Egypt's wealthiest family. Whether they can make full use of that without breaking FFP rules is another matter but they've got big, big money behind them.

Agree1 Disagree0

24 Aug 2020 21:09:09
They all have cash🤷‍♂️.

Agree1 Disagree0

24 Aug 2020 21:09:43
Only Real Madrid spent more money than Aston Villa last season in the whole of Europe.
I think Aton Villa will put in a first bid of £30 million which Celtic will knock back.
But I do believe Villa will go to as much as £40 million to try and get Edouard.
He is their number one target and they will give Celtic a decision to make.
Edouard isn’t one of the biggest earners at Celtic which is strange considering he cost the most. He will quadruple his wages with Villa.
If Celtic can’t convince him to sign an extension then I think we will be forced to sell him in this transfer window because his value will half in 2.

Agree1 Disagree0

24 Aug 2020 20:00:37
Celtic will get up too speed as we all know and teams won't be able to match us so I think its only a matter of time that we will give someone a hammering as Dundee utd where defending for there lifes and so were killie so its only going to be happening soon as if teams keep this up we will find a way to beat them that's a certain fact so keep the faith as we will march on to history again and don't worry what the other teams are doing just keep up the green flag flying high for we are Glasgow green and white.

Just been reading an article on Ajeti's departure from West Ham and how they were classing the transfer as a low profile departure.

These are the kind of things we do - buy in players, develop them and give them confidence to move up a gear and therefore move on for big money.

As long as coaches in clubs like West Ham fail to do what we do, we'll keep on bringing in your cast-offs and sell them on for a good profit - and hear you bitching about us and how we low-ball your players.

If macavennie is to be believed it was a falling out between Moyes and ajeti that was the problem.

Kev, .
Celtic underground have a great article about him, Pat McCluskey Unsung Hero. I can’t post the link, but have a look, came through the youth ranks and kept his place in a team with jinky and King Kenny, took Roy Aiken to replace him. RIP.

The analysis of Christie’s performance against Dundee Utd is impressive.
He had more successful dribbles than the rest of the players from both sides combined on the park. Which is incredible.
He had 9 shots at goal.3 off target,3 blocked and 3 on target ( the last one led to our goal)
Christie also won 13 out of 16 duels on the ground which shows great determination.
I also noticed Don Robertson will referee our game on Sunday.

24 Aug 2020 15:38:18
i seen that buzz and the word shocking was used to describe his performance don't know what some fans watch.

Agree2 Disagree0

24 Aug 2020 15:54:17
It was frustrating at times to watch because Celtic hadn’t scored.
But when the stats came up on the telly about the shots Christie had,
I said to my son it proved Christie was getting into spaces and we both felt a telling contribution from Christie would eventually happen. Thankfully it did.

Agree2 Disagree0

24 Aug 2020 16:00:22
If he wasn't so greedy he could be a great player for us.

Agree3 Disagree0

24 Aug 2020 16:06:27
the stats are even more impressive when you consider its not his position.

Agree1 Disagree0

24 Aug 2020 16:15:15
Christie is similar to Mickey Johnston, they both have loads of confidence.
Sometimes it’s just that final decision needs to be better.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Aug 2020 16:31:12
Said before, Ryan christie is a work horse! Never stops running, and having a pop at goals! His energy is vital to the team. i agree his final decision making isn’t what it should be sometimes, but on form he’s a cracking player! He’s frustrating to watch sometimes but nobody can suggest he’s not a good player surely!

24 Aug 2020 17:11:21
Danny as I sayed my only criticism is knowing when a player is in a better position to release it to them let’s be honest if he was the finished article he wouldn’t be at Celtic .

24 Aug 2020 17:18:19
when was a player in a better position other than another square pass to brown or mcgregor.

Liam am naw just talking that game there it’s been happening a while .

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Aug 2020 17:44:06
i think fans should get used to christie taking strikes from outside the box because with teams sitting so deep against us more strikes from outside the box will be required in fact others should take a leaf out his book and start taking a pop more. unless its ntcham it will end up in row z.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Aug 2020 18:16:54
I really like him but this season he needs to do it in the big games, tends to go missing against the Mob, as does Ntcham.

Agree1 Disagree0

24 Aug 2020 18:20:53
My only gripe was not with him personally, it was the fact he was played out of position which meant the team did not have its normal balance.

Ntcham is no where near as effective in the 10 position and Frimpong suffered down the right as Christie is not a winger and more often than not cuts in. This was evident with the lack of chances created on that side.

Had to LAUGH when renee muelensteen said he was surprised that there was no premiership interest in rogic. that's BECAUSE MR MUELERSTEEN YOY ONLY EVER SEE A FIT AND EAGER TOM ROGIC . we get the show injured jet lagged one.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

24 Aug 2020 15:26:27
If you signed him off his YouTube highlight reel he'd look some player mind.

24 Aug 2020 15:55:16
He would phil, but then so would we.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Aug 2020 18:22:33
Rogic is a cracking player and I recall how on fire he was when Rodgers first took over.

Yes he has injury problems and yes he has fitness issues but there is no denying his talent.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Aug 2020 19:03:02
I will be sorry to see Rogic leave, He's a player who for all his faults delivered in the big games, notably against Sevco and in Cup finals.
His fitness is always what's let him down though.
How much of that was due to bad luck, or him not working hard enough, I don't know, but he was and is a talented player.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Aug 2020 13:24:44
If, as reported, Shane Duffy and David Turnbull sign up I doubt that will be the end of the incomings.

Teams in England will be finalising their squads and any who are not in their plans will become available. Same in the Continent and other worldwide teams. In a lot of cases the lesser players will be better than what we have and getting one or two in will give us a better chance of competing for the 10 and Europe.

We've still up to the beginning of October to see who's available and I'm sure NL and PL will be waiting to see who comes up. It wouldn't surprise me if they're currently looking for a replacement for Scott Brown, as I don't think there's anyone at the club who can give anything like what he's given us.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

24 Aug 2020 14:26:04
The main issue for me is just when it will seem we have assembled a brilliant squad (and offloaded the deadwood) , there will be mass speculation and unsettling of star players until the window closes. Historically, we have sold 'big' in recent summers so it could happen again if we get an offer 'we can't refuse' and the player wants out?
I have a feeling - as well as Eddy obviously - there could be interest in Ajer, Ntcham and even Cal-Mac, so we need to stand firm.

Agree1 Disagree0

24 Aug 2020 14:39:44
Stengo

If we wrap these 2 up, there will be NO MORE unless we sell . albeit a LB would make sense, indeed I'd be prioritising that whether we go with a 3 or 4 or 5 at the back for the domestic / European challenge.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Aug 2020 14:48:28
Lubo,

How much have we spent in this window and how much income have we had coming in since the end of last season? Record strip sales, champions, transfers, European money, tv rights, squad trimming.

Something clearly don't add up if we have to sell to buy again.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Aug 2020 15:02:06
It also looks like Celtic will get money from any future Dembele deal from Lyon in this transfer window.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Aug 2020 15:43:04
theres no way we will come out this window with just 1 LB at the club.

So I have decided to start posting again and just keep positive.
I see the Hungarians asked to get their league fixture postponed before playing Celtic, to me that could be wrong decision as they have just started their league and surely, like Celtic need to play games to get up to speed. We looked rusty at times since coming back so a hard game at Tannadice was what Celtic needed, let's hope it has tuned us up for europe.

Welcome back timalloy
Ye Dundee utd gave us a game. But there defence where also advised to stop Celtic at all cost,
There goalie wasted so much time it was getting embarrassing. If you watched the game the amount of times the ref blew the whistle for the goalkeeper to move it was shocking that he took no action on him and book him.

It’s good to see you posting again Tim. 👍.

Agree1 Disagree0

24 Aug 2020 14:43:09
Interesting insight Tim this will be a tough tie . Hungary and hungarians are on the up ( not a fan of their politics ) but they will be big, strong and physical and hungry

Beating Sweden's champions shows their quality ( remember malmo? ) . we need to put in an 8 out of 10 performance to get past then and NL set up and general discipline will be key

Celtic 3 2 for me.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Aug 2020 14:57:51
I’m not expecting a hard game.
Celtic will win with at least 3 clear goals.
I watch their first half against Sweden’s Champions and both teams were poor.
