Slippy G said it was a shame his main man wasn't available, the result would have been different and they would definitely still be in the cup if he was on the field. No not the Huffallo he meant Baby Dallas 🤣🤣🤣.

Na it's just that their luck has hopefully started to run out. Let's fact it, they've had some fckin luck lately ranging from refs decisions to playing against teams in Europe who cantle even muster a shot a goal.
A couple of bad results and Crumble Dome will literally start falling apart and the pressure will back back on G string.

Typically Aberdeen aren’t playing one of the cup Semi Finalists because then Celtic could’ve played our rearranged game against Aberdeen.
Send the last post too early.

The only downside to tonight’s league cup result is Celtic will now have another game in hand.
Celtic were due to play away to St. Mirren on the same weekend as the league cup Semi Finals.
Only 2 league games will take place that weekend :- Sevco V Ross County and Aberdeen V Motherwell.
Typically Aberdeen aren’t playing one of the 4 Semi Finalists.

Just read Buzz's mention to the late, great Tommy Burns, born on this day in 1956.
It made me think how much it meant to him to pull on the Hoops for each and every one of the 350 odd games he played for Glasgow Celtic.
Probably sounds sentimental (even old fashioned) to say it but TB played for that jersey and everything it represented including us, the supporters.
Christ I wish we had a few like him in our team today.
R. I. P. Tommy.

God Bless Tommy Burns. What an example of how to live life. Away far too soon at 51 but obviously God thought you’d done enough. Faith, family and football in that order. Thanks for the memories Tommy. Requiescant in pace. ☘️.

Mclair stayed around the corner from my Grans. The street was always busy with young and old wanting autographs. He always obliged and was a humble guy. Gerry Creaney stayed next to me and always was out and about with the celtic trackies🤣I remember him getting dogs abuse for ages from the jungle. During his run of poor form he scored first against rfc in a Scottish Cup game, he ran and slid on his knees with a get it right up yous gesture which had the stadium going nuts with joy and laughter. We won 2nil that day with 4 red cards. I can't remember the players but it was 3 for them and 1 for us.

No probs ed always happy to help. I don't know if u been asked before apologies if so. But how did u get involved in the site and who set up the site. Just interested as its really well run and and we are all fans of the site. Its actually my first point of call everyday, sad i know lol.

Agree5 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - The site started about 15 years ago when Ed033 needed a college or uni project and Ed001 came up with an idea of a footballing forum, I think it started just as a Liverpool page before it grew enough that teams needed their own site about 12ish years ago.
I started reading the site just by sheer chance about 11/12 years ago when my dad was not well and my leg problems started so I ended up spending a lot of time - day & night - just basically drinking Guinness and blethering a load of $hite about Celtic to pass the time.
My dad died in January 2010 and I hadn't posted for a while when I got and e-mail off E001 if everything was OK and would I be interested in helping him run the Celtic site, I said no as I wasn't that clued up on computers (although I've got an HND in Computer Science that was 20 years ago at the time) and I told him about my leg problems and my dad passing as I had never mentioned stuff like that. He told me it wasn't difficult to use the system and to think about it, it would be something to do and pass the time and keep me occupied, so I asked the Mrs what she thought and she said I should at least try it and here we are, nearly 10 years later 😁
I try and sit here for 12 hours a day - now that's SAD, maybe mad!}

16 Dec 2020 20:46:15
Ed that’s us officially fell oot. You’ve got me greeting noo. Best thing you ever did. When you were talking about only needing wan boot last week ah wiz absolute howling but didn’t want to say. When I’d the stroke 5 years ago I’d a really bad limp on ma right side I went for a meal when I got out of hospital with ma mate in Glasgow. I was limping across the street and there was a Glasga bus coming when ma mate shouted ‘C’mon tae feck Winston! ’ Ed I was buckled. So hence why I don’t take too well to the troops shouting the end of the world is feckn nigh we might no do 10 in a row. I watched us winning feck all. I’ll be as sick as anybody’s but apologies if I appear unsympathetic. I’m a Celtic supporter. Faithful through and through. And over and over WE will follow you. Even was wan leg and a limp. 👍.

{Ed007's Note - I used to get the Winston patter from my mates as well but I used to just answer them with something like "Boaby the barman would be embarrassed with that patter.... ya pr1ck".
Ach if you didn't laugh and all that 😁

Hi Ed,
Am I way off the mark or would a partnership of Martinez and Maloney after the euros for a couple of years with Maloney as a succession plan be worth considering? I would expect Martinez to be sought after if Belgium have a successful euros though.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - I don't watch international football so I don't know what Belgium set up like but I remember when he was at Everton our Everton editor (Ed025) and Ed001 used to speak about how poor he was at setting up & organising the defence. A flying Celtic can get away with that though and it would be an interesting appointment plus I don't think Martinez would dismiss it out of hand, even without Maloney he knows what Celtic and Scottish football is all about.
I still think it would be a big ask to entice Martinez and there will be Pub League teams offering him more in wages and budget than we would even consider after the Euros.}

16 Dec 2020 21:45:28
Will never understand how Martinez got the Belgium job. Was horrendous at Everton.

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Dec 2020 22:44:49
I always felt sorry for him at Everton as he was trying to transform their philosophy that had served them so well under Moyes to a more attack minded expansive style of football which was always going to take time and patience something you don't get in England.

16 Dec 2020 13:38:12
Ed, do you see Lawell leaving this season?

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - I'm hoping that it's finally dawned on Lawwell - or on DD - that his time as CEO is up and we need new blood in the boardroom with fresh, modern ideas to take the Club forward and finally realise it's potential.
However....
I read somewhere that we would need to give the Stock Exchange 6 months notice and if that is the case it doesn't look like he's going to go willingly.}

16 Dec 2020 21:08:48
I know you've mentioned you favour a D. O. F Ed, given the choice, who would you like to see in this position?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Someone like Ralf Rangnick would be a dream or even Marcelo Bielsa but I can't see that happening. It's hard to know who would be good DOF, look at Ajax just now with Marc Overmars as DOF and Edwin van der Sar is the CEO - and remember Rodgers was all for Kennedy being appointed DOF before he slunk out the door.}

16 Dec 2020 16:54:36
If, and it’s still an if, we win all of our games up to the game against sevco, as long as we beat them I don’t care about the score if we outplay them and put the pressure on them. Then we will see how they react. They have had all the breaks this season so far and it has boosted their confidence but if we shake them up, the league is wide open again.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

16 Dec 2020 18:52:00
I'd take a draw in that game just now mate. I don't think we've left ourselves enough time to build up a good head of steam where we'd be confident of winning at Ibrox but if we don't get beat then we could put together a really strong run moving forward.

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Dec 2020 00:03:28
A draw Kevbhoy a draw the Sevconians might scrape a draw but if we play the way we did against Lille, the champions will skelp them, do you think St Mirren players would've settled for a draw tonight no chance at ibrox we will get right intae the pompous pretenders still no silverware for the great Slippy G nae draw kev draws are not for CHAMPIONS.

16 Dec 2020 18:03:01
Steph The Town I love so well is near the top of my list as it’s about Derry one of my two favourite cities the other being Glasgow. This is the first Christmas I haven’t been there. I met Phil Coulter who wrote it last year in Derry. If you get a chance listen to Francie Brolly who died last year singing a song he wrote. I don’t know if I can say the name of it on here so here is a line in it ‘the bully taunts the brave’. If you google Francie Brolly and that line you’ll find it and you can give me your thoughts.

16 Dec 2020 13:21:53
John Hartson believes we shouldn't be playing Ajer at right back because its not his best position and frimfrong should be playing there instead with Christie above him. Has John not being watching our matches when frimfrong was at right back. Ajer best position for is right back and can play one hell of a ball in the box.

Believable4 Unbelievable0

16 Dec 2020 14:50:42
Totally agree Paul. just because big John who I love btw played at the top level doesn't mean to say he knows more than the average punter. and in this occasion he's way wrong.

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Dec 2020 16:12:53
Ajer has shown playing right back is a breeze. I would keep him there until the end of the season. It also gives us more of a threat and protection at set pieces with him Julien and Duffy on the field at the same time. Especially attacking set plays now we have a player in Turnbull who can deliver consistently.

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Dec 2020 18:25:06
Frimpong isn't even a relation to a RB. Lad has no idea how to defend or tackle. Stick to the tv bug John.

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Dec 2020 10:22:24
I think Christie should be dropped for the final. That allows you to play Brown, Soro and Turnball. lennon wants to reward players who have got us to the cup final, but what about the fact that Christie won't sign a new contract and his Da is telling everyone he is definitely wanting to leave. Why reward him with anything. Soro and Brown anchoring midfield looks really strong to me and allows a 3 of Macgregor, Turnball and Frimpong. Which also gets Calmac further forward which is where I think he is better suited. Just my thoughts lads.

Believable5 Unbelievable0

16 Dec 2020 10:26:08
I also wondered about Lennon saying the guys who got us there deserved to play. Not if they haven't bothered their arses this season they don't.

Agree3 Disagree0

16 Dec 2020 12:56:14
Wouldn’t start brown or Christie b4 soro and Turnbull, I can understand players lacking confidence or form, but most of our players have stopped trying or downed tools. Not saying brown has stopped trying, just saying his legs have stopped working 😂 but drop eddy for paddy.

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Dec 2020 14:33:31
Eddy must play.

Agree2 Disagree0

16 Dec 2020 18:32:11
I wouldn't be surprised if none of the three hazard, soro or Turnbull start. And Lennon wonders why fans are giving out about him. To say players deserve to start because they got them there is total rubbish talk. They are getting well paid and Lennon is too. His job is to pick the best side and win the cup. Not picking players who are way off the pace or just can't be arsed. Lennon seriously needs to get a grip of himself.

Celtic can be World Record holders if we achieve a Quadruple Treble on Sunday.
Celtic had similar chances in the 1960s and 70s to make similar history.
From October 1964 until October 1975 Celtic managed to reach 22 out of 23 domestic finals.
The only exception was when Dunfermline knocked Celtic out of the Scottish cup in 1968 and then went on to defeat Hearts in the final.
Out of those 22 finals over an 11 year period, Celtic only won 13 domestic finals and lost 9.
Due to the amount of finals we lost ( mainly league cup finals) Celtic only managed to win 2 trebles in that era.
It was also the same period that Celtic managed to win 9 titles in a row.
Celtic also got to 5 European cup Semi Finals and we also reached 2 European Cup finals.
That 11 year period was an amazing time to be a Celtic supporter under our Greatest Ever Manager Jock Stein.
We are now presently living the dream after witnessing another 9 titles in a row and hopefully a once in a lifetime Quadtreble.
